Which book which series. I read the book, got it as a gift with 20y now I am 62 and I remember every sentence or picture of the description in the book. What a masterpiece by S.F. bard Arthur C. Clarke. And I read about 25-30 of his books, short stories, stories. When I saw on the first page that it was written 53 or 54, I couldn't believe it. What mind can imagine remembering the future there in 1953? A wonderful work and I read it many times over and over again and every time it is like the first time. 👍💯🙄
@@a.t.c.3862 Yeah. Only new s.f. bard is Greg Bear (Eon ,etc.) But in Croatia only two book is translate and english version is no sell yet. Eon and second book Legacy is fantastic. War dogs,Cryptum,Tangents etc.wait every day.

@@Kris.G which was the exact opposite that the book portrayed. i always interpreted it as the human race literally destroying itself. that sometimes sacrificing freedoms for security, and peace are always worth it as it’ll come to bite you in the end. i suppose the same theme i took from star wars when Padme said “so this is how democracy dies. in a thunderous applause”. when anakin says “i have brought peace, freedom, justice, and security to my new empire”. but in the end it did more harm than good. people lived without those freedoms because the powerful empire kept any other issues out.
@@Kris.G Film as a film is good. Is that the viewer can't be taught what the book says but ... Isn't that the case with most films especially s.f. where the effects compensate for moral and other dilemmas. There is little from the book in the film but the film as a film is good.

I was mentioning yesterday to a friend who told me about the book. The entire 3 parts can be seen on Tubi for free. I'm 63. I told him that a lot of stories/episodes by Rod Serling & others from that era were very prophetic & ahead of their time. Just to point out 2 episodes: everyone in society must look alike- one episode with Donna Douglas from the Hill Billies played the "ugly" person. Another where the kids who turned 18 had to go pick out 1 of 4 or 5 bodies that they were forced to choose from so "everyone would look alike". Today, plastic surgery is pretty spectacular. I had to have total reconstructive facial surgery due to a birth defect: specifically, hypoplasia of the mandible, hyperplasia of the maxilla, abnormally large tibernates (inside nose) & severe skeletal disharmony (everything listed above & then turn it to where it's crooked on the neck.) Then there's the book called the Titan from 1910 or some year before the Titanic was in existence. I was working at the City of Houston Library & they had an original copy of it. I ordered it from Archives because I love history. I just had to touch it. Of course, it was covered in special paper & I had to wear special gloves & follow protocol for historical books. Yes, thank you. And crying and sobbing. The book was full of suspense and inevitable hopelessness which the film did not convey at all. In the book the events must have been utterly horrifying, especially for parents.

Well I hope we agree that the 3 episodes killed the book in a vicious manner. 90% of the entire movie is emotions, that's almost all you can see.
