"Just gotta relax. Just think about you daughter, and how happy she'll be to see you when you get off work." *stabs man in the neck* "And how disappointed she'll be when you're dead... and there's no corpse to bury." And that gents is what happens when Cry goes crazy.
You know, I might be in the minority but... I kinda liked this ending. I saw Cry's tweet before watching this, and so I was expecting some seriously crappy ending, but I'm pretty much satisfied with this. Yes, it is anti-climatic, but it was actually refreshing to see a "quiet", peaceful end to all. It is so rare in games like this (and I can see why, marketing-wise, but still). Also the game was so very very climatic, so I think the ending more or less balances it. Finally, I think this goes very well with the spirit of the whole game: Dishonored was never very keen on straightforward talking you about the characters, through the whole game you have to /search/ for clues (look your surroundings, read stuff, listen to the heart and audiographs, speak with lots of people etc.), so I found it kinda appropriate to be so "reserved" with the ending. Idk, I just liked it. It surprised me, but in a good way. (That being said, I'm not trying to argue with those who think this is a crappy ending - everyone has their own opinion and I respect that -, I just felt like explaining why I saw it fitting.)
You guys know, Dishonored 2 is coming out soon. Who else is looking forward to a guard saying, "Congratulations on getting your own squad after last night." :D
I feel like it would have been better if they just showed the coronation party and convo invited all his old friends and the player could go around and chat with people to see how they're doing. It would've made a much better ending and feel a lot less rushed.
The way Dishonored should be played for enjoyment is 1) killing everyone around 2) finish High Chaos and realize there are different endings 3) play Low Chaos
I love how, when Havelock tried to guilt Cry about killing him and say Emily's watching, Cry just nonchalantly tossed a springrazor at his feet, killing him instantly. I could just imagine Cry flipping him off as he died.
I feel bad that cry put so many hours into this..and even went back to replay something because people complained...and didn't get a great ending. ahh well.
Am i the only one who was literally crying from laughter at the end with Corvo just jumping on Havlock over and over again with him (trying) to yell for help? X'D Omf I laughed so hard at that XD
Nonuv Urbeeznus This is why I wish the fight with Daud was the final boss, someone where you could actually go toe to toe with as your final adversary after you've dealt with the Loyalist bastards. Save Daud and his Whalers as a story arc for the very ending, as a loose end to tie up after you've made Emily Empress, cleaned up the Loyalists, etc. It would have been neat.
Have you played the game? I felt the exact same way about the ending as Cry when I finished with high chaos even. The ending was rushed, I feel like the developers for sure rushed this game towards the end due to deadlines and what not. Evidence is in the polishing of textures and of course the very rushed ending. Besides that, it's a fantastic game, one of the most immersive I've played, which is why the ending is such a downer, it completely kills the immersion and you just don't even care.
ohhgotem What would have killed the immersion if it Admiral Havelock said "Now you will my TRUE *POWER!!!!*" And then grew three times his size and his right arm turned into a gatling gun.
Or he could have did what he always does and surround himself with assasins, tallboys, ect and put him in the flooded district full of obstacles and roofs to jump on and end it by rushing him as he shoots at you, when you have the blade to his throat, you decide his fate. He gave zero f**ks for Emily and didn't think twice about killing everyone else like a coward so it would fit more if he just barricaded himself in a room filled with the best defences instead of just randomly giving up.The Granny Rags fight was at least fitting.
Cry would most probably prefer the “high chaos” ending where most of the areas of the lighthouse where nothing was happening have some extra dramatic story.
"Your head is a scripted event - my head is a dynamic function, you've no idea what I'm gonna do next!" "Hello... OHHH... Hey, guys... eh, wind" That's pure frikkin' gold.
I know you talked on Twitter how disappointing the ending was but...wow. Was not prepared for how boring and lame it was. I thought they'd try to do this epic twist that just falls flat but...nah. They literally did not give any of the fucks, I guess. But that's life. Oh well.
If he would play the whole game more aggressive then the ending turned out otherway and Corvo not stay with Emily but leave the city to the islands. And you can see Emily's gravestone instead of Corvo ( if i remember well, long time not played this game) The Dlcs also good imo.
Dat last 3 minutes from 48:08 to the end made me shiver with silent laughter... for 3 minutes. Damn. I nearly died laughing. I mean, your rage and dissatisfaction with the shitty ending are just... Huehue.. For the record, I'm totally not satisfied with that, too.
dude there is a different ending where hovelock whatever his name is takes emily in the edge in the rain and u battle to the death emily falls and u save her
I gotta disagree with people who dislike the low chaos end. Yes, it would be nice to have a little more depth. But if I'm going out of my way to not kill anyone and take the absurd measures necessary to do that so frickin' everyone can be happy and nobody harmed, everything BETTER be exactly perfect, else I'd be left questioning why i even bothered in the first place (achievements alone don't cut it for me). So while I'd like to see more cinematics and explanations, the core concept of everything being perfect in the low-chaos scenario is kinda crucial to my enjoyment of the game (and definitely not having any negative twist endings...that would have torqued me off no end). Then again, I still don't understand why (story-wise) there should be a significant difference in ending dependant on chaos. Ultimately, the body count can never be high enough to constitute a significant change in the Empire as a whole (and not even a huge difference in the city, honestly...especially when half the kills are weepers and criminals).
Of course, if you want a satisfying AND good ending, you could always play a JRPG. Part of the reason I like that genre so much. Can't say I've ever seen a completely perfect ending in an Action/Adventure game. On the other hand, just about all of the Final Fantasy games had a solid finale, for example (X and XIII-2 didn't, but they were resolved in their respective sequels anyway).
I like the low-chaos ending better to be honest. I watched Cry's play through after watching a play through with the high-chaos ending so I guess that's another factor. I think Cry would've like the low-chaos ending slightly better too because if he picked high-chaos, what Samuel said would've been very sad. But in the high-chaos one he would've gotten to throw Havelock off the cliffy thing anyway.
I agree the low-chaos ending is preferable, but for me it's a lot more fun to _play_ high chaos, so that's been every playthrough except one for me. As I pointed out earlier though, I still don't understand how killing 400 vs killing 5-10 makes THAT much difference in an empire constituting tens of thousands of citizens...is the chaos caused _really_ that bad?
I also agree that if I were to play it I think the high-chaos would've been fun too. But, I'm also more of a sneaky person, or I at least like to think so. But, influence wise, since Corvo is so close to Emily she'll be influenced by his actions and think it's ok to kill people to reach her goals when she rules. So, it would've been quite an impact later on. Also if you look at her drawings closely, the thing that she will draw depends on the chaos. AND DRAWING IS IMPORTANT!
I like use of stealth too, I just prefer Predator-style to Thief-style. I think that the influence argument doesn't take into account the power of context. It's not like Emily was actually there watching Corvo kill, after all (I can definitely see that affecting her strongly). All she did was hear about the people he killed. Further, since revolutions are typically bloody affairs, the fact that Corvo singlehandedly did all the killing for his side probably reduced the bloodshed significantly. And finally, Corvo isn't pursuing some selfish goal with his actions: he's trying to do what's right for the city. If anything, Emily will learn that sometimes sacrifices have to be made to do what's right, which is very important for anyone to learn. I did notice all the differences in the drawings. They don't make sense when compared to the context argument though. tl;dr I don't think Emily would realistically become a murderous tyrant just because Corvo killed a few guys in his efforts to restore the government and fix the city. Seeing her mother slain before her eyes might cause a mental break, but that would be unaffected by Corvo's ensuing actions.
The games ending wasn't that terrible. I actually think it's quite satisfying, in my opinion. Yeah sure, it was a bit quick of an end, but it;s not like it ended right after Emily said "Will I be empress? *Credits right away*", or Emily being killed..Now that would be a bad ending cause it didn't give you an introduction of what were to happen after. The game gave a great one with Emily growing up to a healthy grown woman, and Corvo being buried in a place next to Emily's mother, saying he was more than a "protector" to Emily, much like a father figure to her. And a good word about Corvo being a great man to Emily when other's wouldn't of been so kind and patient like he was. I'm only saying my opinion and own feelings. No game has to have a big graphical ending to make it great, with explosions and rockets or whatever would make it"great" there was great emotion put into it, you need to give em credit for trying . And the ending credit song is very lovely as well. I'm only stating my opinion, I do hope others feel the same way.
I disagree. The ending was literally just "Oh yeah, then this stuff happened and you died." At LEAST they explained what happened with the empire I suppose, but that was still extremely rushed and disappointing.
I agree. I was a little surprised and disappointed at the abrupt end of gameplay, but that was quickly forgotten during the epilogue, and I realized "hey, this is what I was fighting for the whole time, so... yes, awesome!" It was just an unexpected direction from which the satisfaction came, in games people expect it (kind of rightly, though) to originate from extremely challenging and satisfying last moments of gameplay, here it was not about that, so it leaves one a bit surprised.
Jason McMahan I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with ya and say I don't know how that ending could have been better it didn't commit the mortal sin of telling us rather than showing us, it left no loose ends, and when I think of a rushed ending this is what I think of: Emily: Am I gonna be Empress now? (roll credits) Corporate Commander: And that's the ending, What were you expecting us to tie up the loose ends maybe resolve that plague subplot HAHAHAHAHA Fuck you now give me money for the bullshit DLC
Jason McMahan Propose a better way to do the ending. Like, really, I am genuinely curious, because though as I said I wasn't completely satisfied, when I think about it, I sincerely cannot come up with anything better than what the game actually did. Except for Witches of Brigmore style "boss battle", which would make no sense in Corvo's story, and the epilogue would have to be there in the same way anyway.
I get what you are trying to say Cry. I too thought it was a very disappointing ending. They didn't describe the good aftermath scenes that they only displayed. Maybe if they got all of his allies together and they had a real congratulations scene and they play a scene where Emily is crowned or something. Not just pictures of what happened. it made it feel rushed.
I agree with the rushed thing cause it kinda just seemed like, yeah emily became empress, decades went by, corvo dies and a legend is left..like nothing surprising or really great just.. an ending you would expect i guess
I know right, especially since Cry before this playthrough finished two great games (Catherine and Bioshock) which are very much narrative driven. We can relate to characters like Vincent and Elizabeth, understand their flaws, see them develop, and celebrate when they overcome their struggles. Dishonored, while a very cool concept for a game, doesn't focus on that. It's very obvious that it's ending was an afterthought during its development. Corvo might be a silent protagonist, but we still want his story to unfold in a way that relsoves the conflict between him, the kingdom and the princess. Instead of that, all we're left is a rushed anti-climactic mess.
I get where cry's coming from, but I actually liked the low chaos ending. It's not a huge climactic boss battle or something like that, but more climactic in that you see the characters start to turn on eachother and such. I dunno.
The ending felt really rushed, I agree. I was kind of hoping I would like this game because I have a friend who loves it, but Dishonored never had the same impact on me like for instance Bioshock or Last of Us had.
DJ Dovah I'd rather not have this be ANYTHING like Asscreed, partially because we don't know the sorta time period this is supposed to be. It's a world of Arkane's creation and i want it to stay that way.
***** No. A sequel is another game/movie/book in the same series with a different title, possibly with a different setting and cast of characters, and generally happens afterwards chronologically. The Knife of Dunwall and The Brigmore Witches were add-on content to the main game, set in the same cities (and revisiting 2 locations), happening at the same time but from a secondary character's perspective. It's not a whole game and the base mechanics/setting/themes are the same as Dishonored, so you can't call it a sequel
I know what Crys saying, I absolutely love the Dishonored gameplay but the ending, where your supposed to kill Havelock, is too easy, no challenge what so ever.Like how most games actually give you a challenge at the end boss and while its hard its fun.
***** Yeah, I had some problem with Daud, since he had all of his assassin buddys (and I accidently killed Daud when I wanted to get that special dialogue from him...), and when I went to pause time, Daud already had and I unpaused it. D:
I personally enjoyed this ending, i don't see the need for a big spectacle. If you had stuck to your guns and played your way instead of how people would've wanted you to play, you would have gotten a much more theatrical ending. The end level is very different on high chaos.
I liked the ending to, they just wanted to end it peacefully without saying to much or anything like that.. but I am confused now... where everyone is saying there is a Dishonored 2 coming out in 2 years... will it be with Corvo like before he dies or someone else after he died? suspense and mystery
The ending wasn't that bad, don't know what else you were expecting. If you want a more chaotic ending and a slightly more "epic" final mission, play it in high chaos, the whole final mission is completely different. Also i REALLY reccomend the 2 story DLCs, you play as Daud and his character is a lot more developed, I found it actually better overall than the base game
I liked the story of the Daud DLCs better but I prefer the level design of the original story better. That being said, the whale slaughterhouse was really gnarly looking.
Honestly, I prefer the low chaos ending. Mostly because in the high chaos Samuel ends up hating you and firing a gun to try and alert everyone that you're here. However, the high chaos is also good because it adds in an explanation about what happened with Havlock, Lord Pendleton, and Martin. It also has a better scene with Havlock and Emily, but I prefer Samuel liking me more.
okay when I play dishonored im a horrible person so on the last two missions I kill EVERYONE. Cecelia, Piero, Sokolov, Samuel... I need to satisfy my bloodlust
I REALLY liked the ending :) mostly the ending song :D good job cry. This will be months until I get over this gameplay. Anyways, can't wait for the new game you'll play even though getting over this game will be hard :S
Dishonored is one of my most favorite games (definitely in the top three), but I agree that the ending is rushed. The first time I played it I really took my time with it, exploring every nook and cranny, and felt let down by the end. It's like all this neat buildup and lore and then... it's over and a cut scene. However... crap ending(s) aside, I still loved the story, aesthetic, and stealth mechanics and for me that more than made up for it. Especially since the DLC are fucking amazing.
I hate how people are telling cry that he should do the other ending, or that his ending was terrible. He decided to do this ending, and that's that. He clearly stated in his past videos that he doesn't like being told what to do in the game. Let him do what he wants to do. Just chill out.
What's even more ironic is that people WANTED him to get the low chaos ending when he was playing the game. (He's said in other videos that he's not very good with stealth and would rather go and kill the enemy instead of going through multiple steps of saving them) Now people are saying that he should've done the high chaos ending. Sigh.
The way you talked about the ending reminded me of the ending of my book. It all was building up to a big predicament, but ended up not being very exciting or good.
Well Cry I know you said on twitter you didn't like the ending but just wanna say this was so far one of my fav series from you and I do hear the DLCs are alot better then the main game. Next series? Suggest the other corpse party. The first one was great.
I saw your "Cry Talks" and the announcement of you finishing Dishonored and how the ending what not what you expected. That it was rushed. I didn't believe you. Until I watched this and I now know what you mean. Corvo just lives and passes away because of old age? Like... there are no mini missions as to getting rid of Weepers or reorganizing the Empire? Getting rid of thugs and whatnot. That's just so... bad. The game walkthrough was sooooo good...! But this leading end is just not what you would expect. Because the character we would always play as can either live on with their lives or they die some death. They should have eased us into some stories as to what was happening after they got the Empire back. The good things that Corvo and Emily did and THEN some even that took Corvo's life. Just some indication that he can be alive or dead. Making us wonder if he is really dead or if there is an Apprentice that Corvo took in and trained him/her? Just something that can lead us to make fanfiction of stories of how Dishonored would have ended blah blah blah. Not just still images of ppl that were dead and looks like what seems to be the future. Then *BAM* tombstone with Corvo's name on it. Like, WTF?! Ugh...!! Did you know there are other game walkthroughs/ bundles for this game? There is a bundle of Dishonored on Steam that has a lot of different kinds. Such as Dishonored and the Witches (like Granny Rags). Something like that. Maybe you can check it out?
You basically have the Dishonored main game and two DLCs: The Knife of Dunwall and The Brigmore Witches. They are actually just one story that happens in parallel to the main game, separated into two parts (like the Bioshock Infinite DLC). Both have even more amazing gameplay than the main game, and the same rich stealth and level design that makes the series so incredible. You play as Daud, who is not only a voiced character, but a pretty interesting one, like an assassin Sherlock Holmes. I recommend you buy the whole bundle. Even if the ending is not satisfying, the gameplay and rich world they created are enough to make this a memorable experience. If you like intelligent yet fair stealth games, like Mark of The Ninja, then Dishonored is a must in your collection..
" Just something that can lead us to make fanfiction of stories Just something that can lead us to make fanfiction of stories " That sentence makes no sense, fan-fiction usually bastardizes the core game and is horrible.
ImperialGuardsman74 Some movies or books or anime/manga would end badly or not how ppl would like it to end. So they make up their own ending, by posting it on fanfiction(dot)net where ppl can read it. Yea, fanfiction is a bit weird and annoying when ppl have different version that u don't like how their versions of ending. But ppl would just want a good ending. Some sort of closure so that they can move on.
Valek Killz Just move on, closure or no closure. Also, while we're at it, one of my main problems with media is the media creators being greedy and not quitting while they are ahead, when there is a clear logical conclusion of several story arcs, you should end the series, clear and simple. Just ranting :P
I'm sad to that you don't understand the meaning the developers had in mind. They wanted to show that Havelock was just a normal person that can be shot once and killed. They didn't want him to magically turn into some hard ass demon. Also I would like to see you create a game of this magnitude in one year.
Y'know, I think I get why this was such a weak finale. Havelock, while he is your final target, is just a man, and he can be easily killed in any of the plethora of ways you showed. It's more realistic that way, but it made it anticlimactic and left you wanting more. Goomba stomp battle was the best, btw.
I agree with Cry, it did seem a bit rushed. It was almost like an older Disney movie. "And they lived happily ever after. The end." Though, I am happy for Corvo and Emily.
Man, they really fudged up on the ending. You would think they would have put a bit of effort in for all the work throughout the rest of the game. Maybe they were cutting close on budget or release time but still...
I do believe that there is more than one ending. That's ending on how Cry played the game. It changes depending on your chaos level and how you play the game. Like, Infamous Second Son.
I know there are multiple endings. It doesn't change the fact that this one is poorly done in idea and execution. There are a million ways they could have made it more effective and they didn't. Hell, they didn't even bother to try and animate it, it's just a bunch of stills with a voiceover that amounts to "they all lived happily ever after". Plus I hear that the other endings aren't much either.
Jeebus! Cry goes all Johnny the Homicidal Maniac! I mean, it's fun, but what prompted it? Just got fed-up, eh? I didn't kill Havelock, I put him to sleep and left him on top of the chandelier above the staircase. I just have to do silly things with the bodies of my foes.
My idea of how it could have ended it: given the option to let havelock arrested or eaten by rats, then when Emily asks if she can be empress now, Corvo takes off his mask then says"Yes, let's go home." Corvo takes Emily's hand and leads her outside which jumps into the future in the golden age. Corvo and Emily are on a balcony with a cheering crowd beneath them, Emily pins a medal on Corvo, gives him a hug and says "You did it Corvo" it fades to a black screen, "You did it" end credits roll.
Flickering Wraith Lmao oh god, I'm just imagining corvo covered in blood and shit and holding up a sign to Samuel saying "Alright, let's go, old man" that he just doodled on some random piece of wood or something.
The biggest problem with the ending is that things turn out perfect. Add some sort of surprise, like if Havelock killed Emily in the end, or if the Outsider just decided to mess everything up for the giggles. Anything. I didn't even play this, but I'm full of the salt. >.>
MrBman9001 Yeah, I actually thought that was the best one! XD But I really do hope there is a sequel so we can get a better climax, but still have some familiar faces. :3
Margie Cakes Urgh, I'm not a big fan of that ending. Probably because the moment I saw her, my first thought was: "You look a lot like Clementine. I'm going to love and protect you now."
MrBman9001 For some reason, I never really cared about Emily...I love Clementine, though. Couldn't tell you why, maybe it's because Corvo didn't spend as much time with her as Clem in the game. :/
Well, I had interesting experiences with her. Like in the beginning, when we're playing hide and seek, the SECOND she said hide and seek I blurted out YES!! and jumped off the bridge, and died to fall damage.
i cant remember the last time that Cry got SO pissed with a fictional character that he decided to play the last part of the game over and over again just to kill him in all possible ways he could find 8'D
I enjoyed the ending cry got. It showed that Corvo lived a happy long life with Emily and the city was back to peace. Sure I wasn't the most badass or exciting ending but it was enjoyable and sweet, this is just my opinion.
If there's a thing I learned after watching this playthrough, it would be that you must never double-cross on Cry. He will kill you in 10 different ways.
HOW THE FUCK DOES KING CRIMSON WORK? HE ERASES TIME, BUT IF HE ERASES IT, THEN SHOULDN'T IT NOT BE THERE? HE ERASES TIME BUT STUFF STILL HAPPENS IN IT. IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE, YOU CAN'T ERASE TIME! YOU CAN'T ERASE TIME! FINE, YOU CAN FREEZE TIME AND YOU CAN TURN BACK TIME BUT YOU CAN'T ERASE TIME, IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE! IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE, IF YOU ERASE TIME THEN NOTHING HAPPENS IN IT! I DON'T KNOW! I DON'T KNOW! SOMEONE TELL ME! SOMEONE TELL ME HOW KING CRIMSON WORKS! I NEED TO KNOW! I NEED TO KNOW HOW KING CRIMSON WORKS! PLEASE, PLEASE JUST TELL ME! I NEED TO KNOW! SOMEONE EXPLAIN IT! IT'S CONFUSING, I DON'T KNOW! HOW DOES KING CRIMSON WORK! HOW DOES IT WORK?! HOW DOES KING CRIMSON WORK, PLEASE! PLEASE, SOMEONE TELL ME I NEED TO KNOW HOW DOES KING CRIMSON WORK! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
this game lacks interesting boss battles. it feels like you move through it with too much ease besides doing your best to be sneaky and trying to find all the hidden things around. a few more challenges here and there would have boosted this game so much. otherwise it had an interesting story to tell, even if emily acted awfully odd after have lost her mother and all. she didnt come off as a realistic child
How are you not satisfied with that ending? EVERYTHING gets resolved! Piero and Sokolov find a cure for the plague, all the bad guys get punished, Emily gets to be empress "Emily the Wise" and rules fairly alongside you as her bodyguard and advisor. Even the maid gets reunited with her uncle and Samuel opens the bar again. What more could you ask for? A flashy unnecessary 10 minute long cutscene that explains everything you just saw anyways?
It was rushed. The boss fight was very disappointing. Then all you have to do is open a door and hug Emily. After that the Outsider appears to say "Everything is now sunshine and rainbows! Just look at these pictures! All conflict is resolved though I can't be bothered to come up with a decent explanation. You shall live a long happy life and die of old age. You win!" There are a lot more problems in Dunwall than just the plague. One third of the city is dead, entire districts are in ruins, the whale oil is running out, gangs control key areas in the city, and there are still the rats to worry about (even if the plague isn't a threat, they can still overpower entire groups of people.) Curing a disease and placing a ten year old in charge isn't going to magically make all those problems go away. Too much build up and too little payoff. A happy ending isn't necessarily a good ending.
Yeah HaloAndMinecraftFtw is right. Imagine playing this for like 20 hours or so and at the end, they spend like 1 minute+ to tell you yeah everything's fine, look at all these happy pictures, ooh and your tomb too. I mean, we didn't even get to see him interact much with small or big Emily, nor see everyone cheering for Corvo and Emily, see the town getting restored, nice view of the sea or whatever.
if you guys disliked it go make Dishonored 2 then! You guys don't get it! There are four endings! THIS IS MEANT TO BE THE GOOD ENDING! WHY DO YOU THINK IT IS CALLED THE GOOD ENDING!!!
Brofist to da max Nobody freakin said it wasn't a good ending in nature, it just wasn't good in terms of quality/satisfaction. If Cry hadn't made it clear enough. Good does not equal satisfying.
I actually really digged the way they made the credits. It's something else for once. =) The black frame could have been removed, but it's cool. As for the ending...I didn't feel it was bad per se, but I wish it could have been a bit longer / more detailed; though, I heard they ran out of money at some point, so if that's true, I guess I get how it would be somewhat more rushed. Too bad, but not bad as a whole. Maybe the fight at the end should have been longer too. More options and more choices to make. Like if you could have chained up 6, 7 methods of turture (or quick pain) up. That'd have been neat! With that being said, thanks so much for showing off this game. This is yet another title I will have to pick up. Damn you, Cry. You've made me spend so much money with all the good stuff you've showcased. xD Oh and let's not forget the oversized hands on Pendleton and some other characters. Good times. o_ob By the way, I loved how you kept killing him over and over. Good job, Cry! Hope you feel a bit better now. xD
I named some of Cry's Ending, here we go: The Flying Havelock Ending The Barbecue Ending The Fugue's Feast Ending The Nailed Head Ending The Raining Pendleton Ending and so on...
Watched this whole series overnight, time well spent, had some laughs, had some moments where I was engulfed in the game play, I would say it was pretty good
The ending is suitable in the sense of consistency. The game gives so much free reign in time and interaction with all the characters-- I agree that it felt rushed, but that's just the mechanics of the gameplay. Though I do think it would have been more appropriate for Cry to have a high chaos ending. He started out the game in high chaos and then everyone whined at him so he stopped killing people-- but that would have been a better ending for him.... Oh well.
The ending is just perfect and epic, a great setting for the end the song as well fits for the ending and as the outsider speaks is just great! You did great Cry you should be proud and happy i think you did a great job and an epic job of being Corvo. I hope you do another like this it was really good!
He probably will lol sense he hated the ending that much. which i dont blame him for, Its too rushed and makes it seem like they had too low of a budget.
The only thing that would have made this game better (for me) would have been more Emily and the Empress. Like, Corvo is supposed to have this really close bond with the two of them or at least that's what they hint at. So it would have been really cool if, while Corvo was sleeping, he dreamed of happier times with the two. I don't know if Cry had to stick around more to actually interact with Emily, but I would have loved to see Corvo having moments with her on the yard or before he left on a mission. To me it just feels....you feel enough that you actually want to do something and you want to get Emily back and protect her, but it's nothing compared to what you feel towards Ellie in the "Last of Us." It doesn't have that gut-wrenching-protect-at-all-cost-will-emotionally-die-if-anything-happens-to-them feeling.
As always Cry your a fuckin delight to watch and you made my days much better, thanks for the series. Your one of the few people who actually upload good big chunks of game time, edited and all, and with voice over's! Love it, can't wait for next series
Dude this is one of the first playthroughs of your's that I've ever watched- this and Rule of Rose. This is my third time watching this series, gotta say I love all the videos you make.
Was playing this again for fun and tried hiding under the platform the Overseer with the box is walking around on, already after they spotted me. Caught a glitch. They saw me through the floor of the platform and kept trying to attack me through the non-transparent floor. By the time I died by the one smart guy who bent down and shot me from under the stairs while I was laughing and looking at their yellow shapes, there were maybe 10-15 up there (hadn't killed any in the yard yet), dancing around and trying to hit me. Well. Kudos to the one smart guy and his gun.
All too many people say the ending was disappointing yet if you play the dlc, at the end, you fight super powered foes as daud, playing the dlc would be epic cry!
This was another fantastic play through Cry, enjoyed every minute. Really is a shame how dissatisfying that ending was though. But the journey to it was definitely very enjoyable to watch, thanks again.
That wasn't an ending, that was just the end. It wouldn't have been more disappointing if the actual words "The End" came on screen instead. Oh well, at least it was a happily ever after one. I still wanna play it, just because the gameplay seems awesome and has a high replay value.
I don't care if the ending was disappointing, Cry made it better by making me laugh so hard when it's only 5:00 am. You gotta love his methods of killing. And seriously? Jump on him over and over? CRY YOU'RE THE BEST!
Yeah, the high chaos ending is a lot better and more dramatic than the low chaos ending. It was still very entertaining to watch you play this game, though, and I would definitely love to see you play the DLCs as well, if you do decide to do them. c:
Also, how ironic is that? Cry was actually going towards the high chaos ending in the beginning of the series, then people complaining made him change how he wanted to play. Now a lot of people are saying how much better the high chaos ending is now that he got the low ending that everyone wanted him to get in the first place! *implodes*
Vroomie360 If they're the same people. After all, the ones who do not like something tend to be the loudest. Besides, high chaos ending isn't really better. Maybe a more satisfying game play, but I really despised the results.
I enjoyed the high chaos ending so much better, there's a lot more going on in the final level than there was in the low chaos. It made it a lot more interesting, to me anyways.
I hope he plays it eventually because there actually is a boss fight at the end this time. It's still slightly anticlimactic but fuck it the game is so dense with story and world building I didn't even care.
I feel that this game rewards vengeful behaviour more than it does good behaviour. There are a ton of creative ways to replay Dishonored and it makes it all much, much more interesting and enjoyable. But I feel you man; the game had the same impact on me.
In truth, I liked the ending. I mean, given how he played it makes the most sense for it to end that way. Sure, endings are more fun if their dramatic, but the simple ones are nice too. Besides, that music....god I love that music at the end.
It's not what happens in the ending, he says that if you listen properly. He says that the ending itself felt rushed, and it did. It just suddenly goes from gameplay, then black and then bam there's a minute long cutscene and that's your ending. Like he said in his Cry Talks video, it seems like they ran out of time/money and had to quickly make an ending. I personally think the writers took a day off or something.
TehSlice360 Yes...and? I understand that there are ways it could have been done better (as everything can somehow be improved in some ways) but I still enjoyed it. Yes, it was rushed. Yes, I wouldn't have minded seeing a little more. But it didn't feel unsatisfying to me and I still enjoyed it and was glad to see everything work out. That's what I meant when I made my comment. A summary of the ending, while can be unsatisfying to most, for me doesn't feel that bad. It just doesn't feel that, with the way Cry played, there was no better way to do the ending (at the moment). Hell, it's nice to have a little closure of what happened cause if they really wanted to be dicks they could have ended it right there when Corvo rescued Emily.
the game gives you the ending you played for. And if the way you played doesnt fit your personality... well, it will disappoint you. Because Cry let other peoples influence him, his experience of the game was also influenced. sorry for you, cry.
listen cry, i know you dont like replaying stuff, but you HAVE to replay at least the two last missions with high chaos so you can get the interesting fun ending
I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the ending. I'm a sucker for a happy ending, which is probably why I was satisfied with it. The bad guys die, Emily reigns the kingdom through the Plague which was cured because Sokolov and Piero found a treatment, with Corvo by her side. It's fluffy. I think the reason they had the ending in that purgatory place again cuz that's where it all started. Where Corvo got the mark and began his journey to clear his name and save Emily. But mostly, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it. Next time I hope!
I hate the ending because it relies on a cheap storytelling trick: It tells, it doesn't show. It's lazily done and poorly executed. Not saying it shouldn't be happy just saying that it should have been presented better.
+Michael Andrews Mmmmm yes quite a lot of games do that whole comic story thing these days, weird Even something as cheap and shittily animated as TOR is better than a damn comic book reading
My favorite thing to do is with time stop 2. Use the power, shoot an arrow, and the arrow will freeze in midair. Then you attack a razor-wire trap to it. When time goes back to normal, you just sent a ballistic razor wire trap at a group of baddies.
"Just gotta relax. Just think about you daughter, and how happy she'll be to see you when you get off work." *stabs man in the neck* "And how disappointed she'll be when you're dead... and there's no corpse to bury."
And that gents is what happens when Cry goes crazy.
I don't know why Cry didn't point this out but.
DAMN CORVO IS HANDSOME.
Ikr! XD
Perhaps he's not homosexual?
@@macrons593 Not that it’s really relevant at this point, but I’m pretty sure Cry’s pansexual.
"Hey, that guy's peeing off the edge! Should I windblast him? No, that'd piss him off."
The piss is already going off, Cry. Go for it.
Austin Vanderveer thank you. XD
Cool, I got a hundred likes! :D
The credit song was by far the greatest thing I ever heard
My ears are bleeding rainbows
I literally got a chill up my spine when the dishonored logo can up and the music started playing.
Honor For All
I love how whenever Corvo and Emily meet, Corvo stretches out his arms like he's saying, "Come hug me! I'm covered in other people's blood!"
You guys know, Dishonored 2 is coming out soon. Who else is looking forward to a guard saying, "Congratulations on getting your own squad after last night." :D
I actually just started playing the Knife of Dunwall right after posting this.
And someone said it! A guard actually said it!
I really hope someone says, "Man, that whiskey and those cigars were so good."
Don't worry they do
I feel like it would have been better if they just showed the coronation party and convo invited all his old friends and the player could go around and chat with people to see how they're doing. It would've made a much better ending and feel a lot less rushed.
The way Dishonored should be played for enjoyment is
1) killing everyone around
2) finish High Chaos and realize there are different endings
3) play Low Chaos
I agree
I love how, when Havelock tried to guilt Cry about killing him and say Emily's watching, Cry just nonchalantly tossed a springrazor at his feet, killing him instantly. I could just imagine Cry flipping him off as he died.
I feel bad that cry put so many hours into this..and even went back to replay something because people complained...and didn't get a great ending. ahh well.
Am i the only one who was literally crying from laughter at the end with Corvo just jumping on Havlock over and over again with him (trying) to yell for help? X'D Omf I laughed so hard at that XD
that was funny XD
Good god, that was the first time in forever I had a big good laugh that left me breathless XD
Yep XD
What'd you expect, Cry? For Havelock to go Atlas style and suddenly gain superpowers? A boss fight with a health bar?
He's just a man.
Nonuv Urbeeznus i love your comment
"Your head is a scripted event - my head is a dynamic function, you've no idea what I'm gonna do next!"
"Hello... OHHH... Hey, guys... eh, wind"
That's pure frikkin' gold.
"All is fair in love and Corvo"- Cryaotic
#corvogod
I know you talked on Twitter how disappointing the ending was but...wow. Was not prepared for how boring and lame it was. I thought they'd try to do this epic twist that just falls flat but...nah. They literally did not give any of the fucks, I guess. But that's life. Oh well.
They relied too much on the dLcs.
Oh, man. The way he jumped on Havelock was priceless!!! xD
Alice Walker totally man, totally! XD I literally died a little laughing...
Alice Walker
Like how many times did he kill him? That was hilarious!
dude there is a different ending where hovelock whatever his name is takes emily in the edge in the rain and u battle to the death emily falls and u save her
Same here
I gotta disagree with people who dislike the low chaos end.
Seeing her mother slain before her eyes might cause a mental break, but that would be unaffected by Corvo's ensuing actions.
whew. finally done watching this series! now i can-
*sees Knife Of Dunwall*
_oh_
aaaaaaand there's now dishonored *two* where you can either play as emily or corvo
Lena The Thief you know what that's good i love this series
I agree with ya.
I disagree. The ending was literally just "Oh yeah, then this stuff happened and you died." At LEAST they explained what happened with the empire I suppose, but that was still extremely rushed and disappointing.
I agree. I was a little surprised and disappointed at the abrupt end of gameplay, but that was quickly forgotten during the epilogue, and I realized "hey, this is what I was fighting for the whole time, so... yes, awesome!"
It was just an unexpected direction from which the satisfaction came, in games people expect it (kind of rightly, though) to originate from extremely challenging and satisfying last moments of gameplay, here it was not about that, so it leaves one a bit surprised.
Jason McMahan I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with ya and say I don't know how that ending could have been better it didn't commit the mortal sin of telling us rather than showing us, it left no loose ends, and when I think of a rushed ending this is what I think of:
Emily: Am I gonna be Empress now?
(roll credits)
Corporate Commander: And that's the ending, What were you expecting us to tie up the loose ends maybe resolve that plague subplot HAHAHAHAHA Fuck you now give me money for the bullshit DLC
Jason McMahan Propose a better way to do the ending.
Like, really, I am genuinely curious, because though as I said I wasn't completely satisfied, when I think about it, I sincerely cannot come up with anything better than what the game actually did. Except for Witches of Brigmore style "boss battle", which would make no sense in Corvo's story, and the epilogue would have to be there in the same way anyway.
that undertale feeling of "killing him again and again and not being satisfied"
I get what you are trying to say Cry. I too thought it was a very disappointing ending. They didn't describe the good aftermath scenes that they only displayed. Maybe if they got all of his allies together and they had a real congratulations scene and they play a scene where Emily is crowned or something. Not just pictures of what happened. it made it feel rushed.
I think he thinks the fight was very disappointing in the end. He wanted more of some sort of continued fight.
Thatguythatwehate Yeah that too. It was just like any other battle and the game was building it up too much. I definitely agree.
I wanted to know more about the outsiders.
This, out of all of Cry's playthroughs, is my favorite and I would love it if he would play Dishonored 2
I get where cry's coming from, but I actually liked the low chaos ending. It's not a huge climactic boss battle or something like that, but more climactic in that you see the characters start to turn on eachother and such. I dunno.
It's a let down ending, but I reckon is oddly fitting.
*it's
Also, with the high chaos ending, you literally watch Martin shoot Pendleton in the chest in the courtyard.
Yeah, I've seen both, I just think the low chaos ending isn't all that bad. Not the most action packed, but it's nice enough for me.
The ending felt really rushed, I agree.
I was kind of hoping I would like this game because I have a friend who loves it, but Dishonored never had the same impact on me like for instance Bioshock or Last of Us had.
Bioshock and Last of us
The feels...
i wonder what would happen if you don't kill Havelock. do you know?
omg the amount of feels at the end of the last of us, yep and i agree this ending was very rushed.
lol i just realised something
Ellie (TLOU), Elizabeth(Bioshock Infinite), Emily (Dishnoured)
Co-incidence I hope not?
This game may benefit from having a sequel. I know I would love to see more games made like this.
or what they did with assasins creed keep going forward in time and the games are slightly similar to each other
It will have sequel in 2015
DJ Dovah
I'd rather not have this be ANYTHING like Asscreed, partially because we don't know the sorta time period this is supposed to be. It's a world of Arkane's creation and i want it to stay that way.
***** no, the DLC happens alongside the main story, but from Daud's perspective
The hardest fight was the torturer, and you didn't even HAVE to kill him (same with Daud, kinda). :/
*****
Yeah, I had some problem with Daud, since he had all of his assassin buddys (and I accidently killed Daud when I wanted to get that special dialogue from him...), and when I went to pause time, Daud already had and I unpaused it. D:
Sammy Antonopoulos I don't think I even saw the dog to begin with.
Emily lays Corvo to rest with her mother because she probably finds out Corvo's her dad....
She already KNEW Corvo is her dad. Remember the drawing she left Corvo while he was sleeping earlier in the game? It said "DADDY" on it.
Starfire Pheonix The rumor is that dishonored 2 will take place in Tyvia, and we will play the role of a new protagonist. No Corvo.
ah ok thanks for the info :)
Also, the game's "free roam" doesn't allow the developers to add much scripted scenes in the game.
well
The ending wasn't that bad, don't know what else you were expecting.
I need to satisfy my bloodlust
.
+Stephen Trash
Same though. I mostly do it because I imagine scenarios with how Corvo would react to being betrayed.
I REALLY liked the ending :) mostly the ending song :D good job cry. This will be months until I get over this gameplay. Anyways, can't wait for the new game you'll play even though getting over this game will be hard :S
true ending: corvo becomes mario
joe pint sorry
Dishonored is one of my most favorite games (definitely in the top three), but I agree that the ending is rushed. The first time I played it I really took my time with it, exploring every nook and cranny, and felt let down by the end. It's like all this neat buildup and lore and then... it's over and a cut scene. However... crap ending(s) aside, I still loved the story, aesthetic, and stealth mechanics and for me that more than made up for it. Especially since the DLC are fucking amazing.
The high and total chaos endings are so climactic in my opinion though.
I hate how people are telling cry that he should do the other ending, or that his ending was terrible. He decided to do this ending, and that's that. He clearly stated in his past videos that he doesn't like being told what to do in the game. Let him do what he wants to do.
Just chill out.
I like your profile picture, and you are right
What's even more ironic is that people WANTED him to get the low chaos ending when he was playing the game. (He's said in other videos that he's not very good with stealth and would rather go and kill the enemy instead of going through multiple steps of saving them) Now people are saying that he should've done the high chaos ending.
Sigh.
I see the good ending .. And is the same ...
Il Giallo
Wait, what?
The way you talked about the ending reminded me of the ending of my book. It all was building up to a big predicament, but ended up not being very exciting or good.
cry, i'm proud of you, man. you weren't satisfied with the crappy ending so you did your best to make a better one. thank you
Holy shit, Cry just became Flowey.
+LieutenantPants Yeah he even makes the guards turn to ashes when he kills them :O
Stop it with the stupid undertale shit goddamnit fifthgftfhj
Yeesh, he killed him like more than 1000 times
Oh my god cry's mental breakdown at the end is so funny plus he gets havlock to fight him the end is soo satisfing.
i wish we had gotten to know the outsider better
I think the whole point of that character was to be a mysterious untouchable force.
Well Cry I know you said on twitter you didn't like the ending but just wanna say this was so far one of my fav series from you and I do hear the DLCs are alot better then the main game.
Next series? Suggest the other corpse party. The first one was great.
Yes, that would be fucking amazing
I really hope he picks up Corpse Party 2 :D
That would be cool but I think Cry already said hes not going to play it.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA nice name lol
Where did Cry say he wasen't going to play it? its a great game I really think he would like it
I saw your "Cry Talks" and the announcement of you finishing Dishonored and how the ending what not what you expected.
Valek Killz
Just move on, closure or no closure.
OMG EMILY WAS PLAYED BY CHLOE MORETZ? OMFG I HAD NO IDEA
***** She is the girl in Kick-ass and she plays in the new Carrie, movie 43 and Hick. I don't know any more roles I think :')
Omg she is?!?
I love her
Y'know, I think I get why this was such a weak finale.
Cry, please don't let the ending discourage you from doing the DLCs!!
41:14 SPOILERS:
Cry, this area is for high chaos endings. Havelock would be standing at the end of that platform with a gun to Emily's head
Corvo can't speak. Ever. Rule #1 of Dishonored. :P
Flickering Wraith Corvo talks, he just doesn't have any voice acting. Every time you reply to a character, they're not just reading his mind.
McPhurson I think he actually holds up signs with what he wants to say :P
Flickering Wraith
Lmao oh god, I'm just imagining corvo covered in blood and shit and holding up a sign to Samuel saying "Alright, let's go, old man" that he just doodled on some random piece of wood or something.
I gotta admit, the bad ending is more exciting.
But the DLCs are WAY worth it. Seriously. Discovered my favorite character in the DLCs.
I thought that it was a cute ending to say the least, but I completely agree with Cry, it was definitely rushed through
The biggest problem with the ending is that things turn out perfect. Add some sort of surprise, like if Havelock killed Emily in the end, or if the Outsider just decided to mess everything up for the giggles. Anything. I didn't even play this, but I'm full of the salt. >.>
Well, there IS an ending where Havelock kills Emily, and Carvo flees Dunwall.
MrBman9001 Yeah, I actually thought that was the best one! XD But I really do hope there is a sequel so we can get a better climax, but still have some familiar faces. :3
Margie Cakes Urgh, I'm not a big fan of that ending. Probably because the moment I saw her, my first thought was:
"You look a lot like Clementine. I'm going to love and protect you now."
MrBman9001 For some reason, I never really cared about Emily...I love Clementine, though. Couldn't tell you why, maybe it's because Corvo didn't spend as much time with her as Clem in the game. :/
Well, I had interesting experiences with her.
Like in the beginning, when we're playing hide and seek, the SECOND she said hide and seek I blurted out YES!! and jumped off the bridge, and died to fall damage.
its so ironic he throws him off there because Havelock actually jumps with the high chaos end
i cant remember the last time that Cry got SO pissed with a fictional character that he decided to play the last part of the game over and over again just to kill him in all possible ways he could find 8'D
Havelock: Did you think i'd fight yo-
*Whirlwind*
Cry: Shut up!
Best one ever.
The High Chaos version of Kingsparrow Island is a lot more fun anyway.
+William K agreed
this game lacks interesting boss battles. it feels like you move through it with too much ease besides doing your best to be sneaky and trying to find all the hidden things around. a few more challenges here and there would have boosted this game so much. otherwise it had an interesting story to tell, even if emily acted awfully odd after have lost her mother and all. she didnt come off as a realistic child
You win!"
There are a lot more problems in Dunwall than just the plague.
How would you have ended the good ending then?
TBH the high chaos ending is better, and more climatic, but it is just a bad ending
If you really wanna climactic, emotionally confusing ending, play the high chaos ending, then let Emily fall. That shit messes you up.
Cry thank you for making this series and I enjoyed every minute of it :D
I love how after years of this first coming out, it's still fun to watch all over again.
i like how cry's just jumping on havelock at the end.
You've made me spend so much money with all the good stuff you've showcased. xD
Oh and let's not forget the oversized hands on Pendleton and some other characters. Good times. o_ob
By the way, I loved how you kept killing him over and over. Good job, Cry! Hope you feel a bit better now. xD
I named some of Cry's Ending, here we go:
The Flying Havelock Ending
The Barbecue Ending
The Fugue's Feast Ending
The Nailed Head Ending
The Raining Pendleton Ending
and so on...
Oh and can't forget The Vomit and The Bumping Ending
Is it just me who kinda ships Corvo and Daud....
me too. i gues we are.... dishonored
reut rozen
ba-dum-psht
reut rozen thetwilightspirit69
I ship you two.
***** heh thanks I guess?? xD
Im into it.
Watched this whole series overnight, time well spent, had some laughs, had some moments where I was engulfed in the game play, I would say it was pretty good
I will never get tired of this playthrough. So smooth and interesting and fun. Job well done Monsieur Cry.
Oh well.
Personally I think the good ending is wonderful , if Cry wants the high choas depressing endings then he can keep em.
You don't get it, do you?
Its all this time and effort then ending up with a Anti-Climatic ending that's what bums him out about it
Exactly...
Everyone's complaining about the ending when at the beginning of this playthrough people kept telling Cry to keep it to a low chaos >.>
They are humans. You just need to get used to their idiotism
They are humans. You just need to get used to their idiotism
Did it cross your mind that the people disappointed by the ending were maybe not the same people wanted him to play low chaos?
The ending is just perfect and epic, a great setting for the end the song as well fits for the ending and as the outsider speaks is just great!
You did great Cry you should be proud and happy i think you did a great job and an epic job of being Corvo. I hope you do another like this it was really good!
When Cry said that Corvo was Emily's father I was so freaking happy!
just in case there weren't already enough similarities to Bioshock: Infinite.
But Dishonored came out first, so really Bioshock Infinite is copying this.
Wolfgod 64 True
In the trailer for Dishonored 2, grown up Emily calls Corvo father. Plus it's been confirmed personally by one of the devs.
Barney Norris Yeah, I know. I'm just really slow but, thanks for confirming :P
Hey Cry, the DLCs end better. Can you make a playthrough of those?
Just needs to compare it to the other endings and he'll be satisfied
1000 ways to die: Havelock Edition
All too many people say the ending was disappointing yet if you play the dlc, at the end, you fight super powered foes as daud, playing the dlc would be epic cry!
it would had you not just spoiled it
so i'm guessing you now know the whole plot and the bosses considering i've spoilt it?
This was another fantastic play through Cry, enjoyed every minute. Really is a shame how dissatisfying that ending was though. But the journey to it was definitely very enjoyable to watch, thanks again.
very impressive cry, beautiful play. The massacre at the end was so well placed. A true revenge story with soul
Awesome playthrough! Thanks for the great time (and cool dubstep), cry. That was indeed highly enjoyable. Hope you'll get along with DLCs.
Best freaking unsatisfied ending mix I've ever seen Cry, btw I enjoyed the part where you kept jumping on Havelock lol
Dishonored 2 is coming!
verifeli haha and now hes playing the DLC!
Hahaha the way you were ending things was absolutely perfect. I love you Cry.
listen cry, i know you dont like replaying stuff, but you HAVE to replay at least the two last missions with high chaos so you can get the interesting fun ending
The High Chaos ending might have been more to taste :) (Though I am 3 years in the future so who the heck am I to comment?)
48:56 so basically what you're saying is you were "dishonored" by the ending ;D
I'm gonna go kill myself now bye! 🖕
+Michael Andrews
Mmmmm yes quite a lot of games do that whole comic story thing these days, weird
Even something as cheap and shittily animated as TOR is better than a damn comic book reading
My favorite thing to do is with time stop 2. Use the power, shoot an arrow, and the arrow will freeze in midair. Then you attack a razor-wire trap to it. When time goes back to normal, you just sent a ballistic razor wire trap at a group of baddies.
im gonna miss dishonored. i looked forward to these gameplays every day haha. good job cry
