Thank you for posting this because I was born shortly after 4PM that day, and I had been told my whole life while my mom was in labor, my dad kept sneaking out to the waiting area (with the doctor) to watch this game. Somewhere in 4th quarter, she could hear him scream "Go Go Go" (a voice I can hear more distinctly from my memory than any other) and then he screamed GO GO GO again shortly after the doctor said, "We can see her head!" Now I'm pretty certain I know what play had him screaming Go Go Go. It was wonderful to have watched the game leading up to my birth.
Young people, are you watching this? You don't have to act clownish after scoring a touch down. No need to act like a dog taking a piss (Odell Beckham) when you're in the end zone. Just be patient you're get there again.
That linebacker from the Jets that went for Bradshaw's knee was definitely intentionally trying to hurt him, permanently. I hope the Steelers retaliated.
With less than a week since the Mets last home game, it looks like there was much more to do to set up for football Looks like there was a problem with the grfx in the truck, the type font used was not the NBC look at the time As usual, another Jet defeat
Knew this would be a win before clicking it.... Steelers were 13-0 (or maybe 14-0) vs the NY Jets all time .. until about the late 1980s or early 1990s. They were also undefeated lifetime in Shea Stadium.
Funny how watching these old games gets my blood boiling 😂. What was Noll thinking letting Bradshaw throw the ball that late with the game all but won? Terrible coaching! They’ll never win another SB with Noll coaching. FIRE HIM!!!!! (Update: Steelers would go on to win their 3rd Lombardi, later this season, and then go on to win a 4th the following year) 😂
@@rendragmedia and Trump was a former Cincinnati Bengal and had an obvious bias against the Steelers (you can tell) as he called many games over the years. ;)
matt robinson had moxy and was a fighter unlike richard todd. robinson ruined his jets career with a barroom fight before the 1979 opener. He busted up his hand and was dealt to denver in 1980!
They did play the Steelers in their last game at Shea, but that was five years later in a Saturday game in December 1983. And that game could have proven to be their last entirely in New York because following the 1983 season, the Eagles almost moved to Phoenix after then-owner Leonard Tose had to sell the team because of his gambling problems, with the new owners moving them there until Norman Braman stepped in at the last minute to keep the Eagles in Philly. Had the Eagles moved, the Jets, instead of moving to The Meadowlands would have moved to Philly to replace the Eagles there OR in a more likely scenario, the people who would have bought the Eagles would have instead in a three-way deal bought the Jets with the Jets moving to Phoenix while the Eagles remained in Philly under new ownership of Leon Hess (infamously the Jets owner for many years).

Thanks for sharing this. This was the only game my mom and I went to. Fun times!
Bob Trumpy showing his hate for the Steelers
Yeah hes a beech
Beautiful picture.
Notice how there was more respect back then?
lifes better now though with wuflu, phones and mass worldwide hysteria.
The 78 steelers are one of history's greatest teams
"Melvin" Blount? LOL
Steelers were like 22-0 this year

Better football, less flags, etc
Sam couldn't hide his Pittsburgh bias during this telecast even though he was working for NBC at the time when he left WPXI for a short while.
He was more excited then me in my living room growing up in Pittsburgh.
The baseball field for a football game is killing me !!
It could have been worse. In Oakland, conversion was so complicated, the Raiders had to use two different layouts.
How about playing football during a baseball game: Pete Rose tackling Ray Fosse.
Then you wouldn't like '80s or '90s football either 😂
Bradshaw and Swann look good her. I forget how well Bradshaw could fling it.
could have been catastrophic... now you know why teams go conservative at the end of games
How come no one danced after a sack? Or TD?
Mark Gastineau came in 1979
That started in the 80s. Sacks were not even an official NFL stat until 1978.

I believe this was the first year the Jets wore this uniform
Yes, & the one they should never have changed from. 👌
no, classic superbowl uni's rule! (kelly green)
They first wore this uniform in 1978
This was their best uniform

The ball was long gone by the time the linebacker go to him.
Why the Late Great Sam Davis isn't in the Hall of Fame I don't understand

It took a day and a half to convert.
Thank you for uploading this. Do you happen to have the Steelers' November 27, 1977 match with the Jets?
Did Terry recover from this quickly?
He played the next week against the Falcons and passed 13/18 for 231 yards and 1 TD plus he had a rushing TD.

An absolutely terrible playing surface.
Whole game? This is nice but kind of a tease...
if you want full steeler games here's a great website. www.mcmillenandwife.com

Cheap shot on Bradshaw
Yeah. But game was in hand and Steelers throwing the ball was kinda bush league too.
