What a stunning piece of music, and what a thrill to hear these musicians perform it with such passion and electricity! My prime ‘new normal’ bucket list item is to travel to Oslo and hear this magnificent orchestra and maestro Mäkelä in person. The only problem is every concert sells out so quickly! These samplers are like a drop of water in the desert. Thank you! 😉
Klaus Makela's relationship with this orchestra is Epic. German playwright Bertolt Brecht has said of the Finns, having lived in Finland for some time, that "inns were silent in two languages, and here we witness the very beast of that truth, having lived in Finland for some years myself is the silence which Brecht speaks of is a Finnish languge should we count their maternal Asian ancestry.
A deeply moving piece by the wonderful Oslo Symphony Orchestra under the direction fo Maestro Makela. Tomorrow nite, Aug 21, 2023, Klaus Makela will Conduct Mahler, Gupta, and Sibelius at the Edinburgh International Festival. Thanks to RUclips I can create my own little concert right here in my home (except the Mahler 4 will not be Klaus Makela; hopefully soon RUclips will have a Makela Mahler 4!) and I will hear Earth's Song once again, this time in the concert context that Maetro Makela has created. As he says, it make a difference what I have heard before I hear a piece and what I hear after a piece. This is how I came to Rolf Gupta's Earth's Song: Epilogue. A wondrous journey, all thanks to RUclips. I was first mesmerized by the genius of YuJa Wang. Through her I found the exquisitely talented Klaus Makela. Maestro Makela introduced me to the brilliant Oslo Symphony Orchestra and there I met the one and only Elise Batnes. And then I hear Epilogue, from Earth's Song; life changing.
The way Klaus conducts is simply spectacular. I hope to get to see him and the orchestra perform at least once in my life! In the meantime, thank you for the wonderful virtual performances.
Such a talented young man Mr. Mäkelä. Thank you Oslo Philharmonic for sharing this delightful performance. I'm patiently waiting for our Colón Theatre to be opened to the public, in the meantime I enjoy this channel . Greetings from Buenos Aires.
Así es @Agus Beethoven, somos muchos en nuestro país los q disfrutamos de la música clásica. Este canal ha sido un oasis durante el año de encierro, un lujo q hagan sus publicaciones en forma gratuita y con tan buena calidad y definición.
Wow... It's the first time I hear this piece of music. I'm breathless. Incredible atmosphere and such fascinating textures... I love the way it builds and explodes, and then slowly to go back to silence with all the subtle effects. Wonderful.
What a wondrous piece!!🍀 Such a splendid performance, Oslo Philharmonic and Maestro Klaus! With its spectral essence, it is truly one of the best gifts received. Thank you very much for this one! Really hoping to see all of you at least once!
I weep because I know my speakers aren’t doing this justice at all and it still sounds incredible! Looking forward to the day I can hear your orchestra in person!
Great performance by Master Mäkelä again! I'm also from Buenos Aires (Argentina), and hoping to enjoy the Oslo Philarmonic at the Colón Theatre, in a not distant future!
Klaus and Oslo Philharmonic will come to Korea but only perform in Seoul. I'm so sad. Because I'm live in Daegu. Too much far away. So next time if Oslo Philharmonic come to my hometown, I see the Oslo Philharmonic Ochestra perforamance.

Stunning music is the word, close to our Imaginative earth's "langage" and something "mystical" to our soul at the same time.

Thanks a lot for your comment! Hope to see you in Oslo in the future, you are most welcome!
I am reminded of the conducting methodology of George Szell, unflappable, yet more heartfelt than one first surmised
I love Mäkelä's energy and passion - so young and inspiring! The development of this composition is breathtaking - tense, subtle, deep...

Otro argentino viendo y admirando a la filarmónica de Oslo! Me alegra saber que hay más de este país que disfrutan de este canal

Musical impressions that are cool, still, unflinching and unperturbed.
Wrought in stone.
Timeless.

Bravo
cool
I think perhaps that could be the music one would hear if they were the first human to land and walk on Mars.
Is there any way to hear the full piece?
Isn't this full piece?
