I have a century romanian RPK with the clubfoot stock, pretty excited to re finish the wood stock considering how rough it looks as of now. Thanks for all the good tips I'm gonna follow your directions exactly and let you know how it works. Thanks again.
It depends on where the AK variant rifle is from. Yugoslavian variants are different than the others as far as the buttstock is concerned. I hope this helps!
That looks superb! Very informative and thanks for editing in a "straight to the point" fashion. I will be using this technique for an old wood riot gun stock set I bought for a Mossberg 590. I'd use it on my AK but that project is more of a metal black rifle deal.
Beautiful work there mate.I enjoy synthetic stocks don't get me wrong they have their place for sure but i just love a good old style wooden stock. Hope to see more in the future.Take care.
Nice series. I just bought a Yugo M72B1 (RPK) parts kit with matching numbers. Bought it to build and shoot but also as a cheap, versatile long-term investment. What would be the most original, "Zastava-correct" way of finishing the wood? I'm interested in preserving its value as a collectible.
Very informative set of videos, especially for an aspiring gunsmith like myself. But as someone who has yet to work with guns on the level that you have (cleaning, refinishing, etc.) I have to ask: Does the removal of those parts work the same as it does on an AK-47? I've seen the forward stock removed from an AK, but not the butt. Do they attach/detach the same way?
Excellent video and series. Thanks for the effort. That's what a traditional military stock should look like. How about a "before" and "after" side by side?
Looks awesome. The color came out nice and flat. Here is the question: What did Ebomey ever do to Pete from theArmorychannel to deserve such abuse all the time?
Is there any PRACTICAL reason for owning a semi-auto version of a light machine gun, like this or an RPK, for example? I'm not against owning them at all, I just want to know if there's actually a PRACTICAL application for them.
Sure there's a reason. Those guns are pretty accurate out to 500 yards. Look up MAC'S video. He was ringing a 24 inch gong almost every time with wolf ammo. Now, you've got a decent mid-range gun that takes standard AK 47 mags and ammo. No need for another caliber and mag on the team.
AKS74U Tula A longer barrel doesn't actually always mean more accuracy. The longer barrel only really increases velocity, but it's barrel rigidity that mostly effects accuracy, when comparing multiple barrels chambered for the same round. So shorter barrels can actually be more accurate than longer barrels of the same thickness. Where a longer barrel will contribute to accuracy, is when the velocity increase is enough to keep the round stable at longer ranges - therefore increasing the accuracy at those ranges.

+Howjadoo22 you have more accuracy because of that longer barrel
