Hi, my friend, thanks for sharing your flying experience! Actually you were flying China Southern's brand new Airbus A350-900. It was equipped with the most decent facilities among China Southern's fleets. You were lucky and from my experience, A350 is better than its elder brother A330, from cabin design to seat comfortability to the inflight entertainment screen, you name it. So glad to know that you miss Guangzhou and love living there, it is truly a wonderful place! Hope you can come back sometime in the near future.

Too expensive for me, haven't been back to Australia for nearly two years. Looks like maybe next year. Do not want to pay high prices for ticket, or for two weeks quarantine on arrival, as well as two weeks quarantine on return to China. All adds up to way too much. The reason why the economy class is empty is because the Australian government limits the inbound passenger quantity to Australia, which was 6000 per week and halved to 3000 per week in middle of July. To Sydney, some airlines were even allocated Zero passenger, hence some airlines have to cancel their flights or only transport some cargo. Most important carriers are allocated about 25 passengers allowed to be carried on flight. That's why you see all economy class empty, because the quota allocated to airlines is very limited. And the airlines will have to only sell Business class or first class to try to maintain the operation. After middle of July, the number was halved to 3000, which means most airlines can only take up to 13 passengers on board, which could be even worse for airlines.

    • @Hazza_Harding

    • @Hazza_Harding

Yes - I applied for the border pass while I was in quarantine, called health authorities in QLD, followed their advice, and documented my trip from the hotel to the airport and then the flight while wearing a mask and a face shield, plus documentation from the NSW government to prove that I had completed quarantine, passed a number of COVID tests, and was not a risk to the community. I am not sure whether or not the rules are the same now, but at the time, I followed the rules 100%, and I was able to cross the border without any hassle (though I did need to go through a police check, and I cooperated 100%)
