EARLY FOLKS! LFG!!! 👊 had such a blast putting this together! Hope I was able to make a lot of the "dry" info digest-able! Seriously, stoked for the new 2470GMII! Now.. who wants to buy my GM1? 😂 BH Pre-Order Link: bhpho.to/3kk8mlQ
Hello @JasonVong im getting an a7s3 for vlogging and will be going to s.korea will be vlogging, taking pictures, take picture of narrow areas of korea, and landscape which lens should I go for, sony FE 16-35mm gm or the new 24-70 II gm lens?
I JUST SOLD MY 24-70 GM YESTERDAY!!! I wanted to get something lighter, thinking of the 24-105 but was hesitant. This is IT. Also about that aperture iris pull, put a 5 stop ND, put auto iso on, and you can lower the aperture and the iso will compensate.
Love this video, the format, the laugh, the natural way you talk to the camera ! The explanations & comparison. Got my OG 24-70 GM in february for 1K2$ so I will stick to it for now. Great to see aperture rings coming to zoom lenses !
I agree. I was tired and sleepy, so I didn't think I could watch all of it, but he was so entertaining as well as engaging and the video presentation was so well done, I watched it all the way through. Great job.👏 👏 👏
Indeed an amazing lens and massive improvement over the original, that happens to be was the first of all GMs. That said and looking back, 35 years ago Minolta was already making A M A Z I N G 24-80mm AF Zooms with optical quality rivaling today's. Sony has Minolta's DNA allover and buying them, absorbing their technology and bringing along their technicians was one of Sony's best business decisions of all of its history. Sony's imaging department today would be nothing without Minolta. From AF, to Live view, Mirrorless, Its all thanks to Minolta.. they had it all then, just no idea how to sell it. Sony knows how to sell.
I’m pleased they improved the minimum focus distance . I will be upgrading from Tamron 28-75 Mk 1 and I find the semi macro ability very useful at weddings
Definitely selling my ver.1 and upgrading to this because of the massive weight reduction, much shorter minimum focusing distance, and the new motor! Now I'm having my fingers crossed for the 90mm macro to be the next in line for such a treatment.
GM 24-70 V.2 is so badazz!!! Light, sharp, fast and aperture ring now! Worth skipping over the Version 1 so im definitely picking this Version 2 up. Thanks for the review Jason!
All I hope for this new zoom lens is having a power zoom feature, so that I can control the zoom distance on the gimbal switch (T/W). I saw Sony have it on APS-C like the 24-105 F4 but not too many for the FF. But thank Mr. Vong, your video is great. Like.
By far the fastest I've ever smashed the subscribe button to a channel. Pre ordered my GM ii the minute the pre order went live and damn glad I did after watching this review. Best review BY FAR that I've seen. Some anime episodes don't even keep me this entertained, this was like a Demon Slayer finale for me. Great review!
Been looking to upgrade my Tamron 28-75 so seeing this is huge! It seems awesome and your insight on it is definitely helpful! Loved your intro, made me chuckle quite a bit HAHA. 💯✔️🔥
Congratulations. Yours was the first video, post announcement I found on YT. Great job. Also curious to how it compares to the excellent Nikkor Z 24-70/2.8 S. I had the version one of the GM but since I knew this was coming I sold it and have been working with the Nikon in the interim. Now I can move back to the Sony once I can get my hands on one.
Hi Jason. I'm a wedding filmmaker. Currently I am mostly using sony 18-105 f4 for my shoots. I am thinking of an upgrade. I'm currently torn between getting the Tamron 35-150 f2-2.8 and the 24-70 gmii. Need inputs from everyone here. (:
After a while using my new GM II, I noted that most of the reviews comment on the zoom ring “smooth or tight” switch plays a big role in varying the lense with my camera mounted to my capture clip. In tight, the barrel stays tight and does not extend. I feel that is the main point of the switch.
I love your reviews and I always prefer your opinion first so keep going champ🔥. But I have a question, how does it compare to the new Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN Art Mark 2?
Great Sony is moving to light weight lenses.. was carrying 24-105 & 24GM whole day during a holiday 2 mths ago… shoulder started to ache end of each day… finally easier to travel to other countries
Great video! It’s a little thing of course (but little details on lenses are why we come to these YT channels) - I see that the lens hood is still a petal design, rather than the flat cylinder/round shape that we received with the 70-200 gmII and other newer GM releases. I’m guessing it’s because of the 24mm end? I like both design choices.
Funny that you didn't see a big image quality difference with the 1st version, all big RUclipsrs have pointed that out. Also the 11 blades iris, you know, aka aperture blades.
ah I missed the blades! Aside from that. TBF, I did say it's GM quality already so I wasn't gonna go too hard on the IQ. The user experience and performance are much more important imo and I think more people care about that.
I come from an APS-C and I am upgrading to 7 IV :) I had the tamron 20-70 2.8 for apsc. Is this good alternativ or overshoot? I am amateur photo & videographer but still do payed stuff for some people :) LOve your videos
I'm assuming from the way you're running to the camera on the auto focus test, that one time you fell from running indoors with socks on😂 Great review!
Thanks for the sneak peak! Love your videos! Have you tried mounting this onto your A7C? I am curious how better balanced and comfortable it feels. Putting on the GMI on the A7C felt awkward.
I have the 16-35gm, but thinking about swapping for the 24-70. Do you have both? What do you use more for video? I like the 16-35, great for walk around street stuff with occasional zoom out to talk to camera. Seems like overkill to have both. Without the 24-70 seems like a big gap. Any thoughts?
hi jason, i need some advice, so now i only have fe 55 zeis, and looking for wide lense like fe 20 g, should i buy it? or better buy 2470gm2 and sell my fe 55? thank youu
Why did they keep the 82mm diameter filter thread when the rest of the lens is so nice and compact? It looks like it has a step up ring on it permanently. I think it`s not the best from sturdiness point of view and looks so strange. I think this might be a weak point if it`s not packed super carefully.
Do you use / recommend UV filters to protect your lenses? I have a Tiffon one and at night, the nightlight’s flare reflects into my shots… wondering if you have a specific brand u recommend?
I want to get one f2.8 travel zoom lens. My options are tamron 28-200mm f2.8-5.6, Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 G2 and Sigma 24-70mm f2.8. My preference is Photography only. Though I'm still determining about 28-200 low light capability. So what do you think? Or anyone who has these lenses.
wondering if it's worth getting a Sony 24-70mm GM ii for a Sony A6400. I use a Sigma 18-50mm, f2.8 apsc lens on the A6400 now. Curious if the 24-70mm would significantly improve image quality over the 18-50mm. Has anyone done a comparison between the two lens on the A6400?

Perfect timing getting ready to get one!!
This makes me excited because it means I might finally be able to afford the original 24-70 😅
you're better off getting the Sigma Art 24-70mm. Just as great as the GM at a cheaper price
Sigma is way better lol
@@harryvuemedia5106 tons of people had endless dust issues with signa. I’ll trust the GM.
@@mattc3510 we all know about the sigma dust issue. Send it back to sigma to fix the problem and you're all set.

I'm currently rocking the Zeiss 24-70 f/4. It's served me well, but... it's time.
Time to retire that lens!

Would this be good upgrade from my 1st Gen Tamron 28-75mm. I liked Tamron for minimum focus distance and weight, now this has similar qualities.
Man. Lighter and smaller is what I needed from these 24-70s. That price though...
My dream, too. As soon as I sell my 24-70 GM 1.
That neoprene lens sleeve is dope. Any idea where to grab one?
I got mine from BH! The hood part is flimsey though. Already tore when I put it on. But the other parts were fine!

Hey J, hope all is well buddy. In the FX6 theres a new feature that does that Bokeh DOF pull 😳🤯🤯🤯 yes sir works on most Sony GM lenses.
