The titan is a 5/8 ton, GM is a 1 ton, Titan has a 5.0, GM has a 6.6 .... and people are bickering?? GM should be ashamed considering its in the same class as a 6.7 Cummins

Ashamed for what the GMC owner had stock tread tires (easily noticed by how much was being thrown) on it and the XD had aggressive tires and an extra 600 lbs or more hanging over the nose. Much like drag racing if you don't have the right tires you wont do as well.

One truck was a 1500 weighed 6000lbs and was 4x4 with 33 inch tires, they were the nitto trailer grapplers. My truck now is a 2500 with the Duramax. BTW the Duramax won the trailer pulling contest between ford powerstoke and the dodge cummins up 7 miles by almost 2 whole minutes pulling a 10000lb trailer. My 2500 truck has stock tires. Buttt and when I mean but,,,, The 1500 would eat my 2500 alive in some soft sand! @@oscarquiroz655

I own the titan xd midnight and the gmc or Chevy equipped the same is at least 15k more..especially because the gmc is a true 3 quarter ton with a bigger engine.

Just got my used 2017 Titan XD with 43k miles on it. Absolute beast for the money. I saved 10 grand over any other comparable truck and I have a 100k warranty. Plus I think the build quality is better. That's my opinion, everyone has theirs. The Cummins 5.0 V8 is pretty cool for it's size.
I’m at 73k. Still love it. I’m scared about the crank breaking though.

@jerry metcalf I've had GM vehicles their new stuff ain't worth shit even a company I work for is switching to Ford after running many GM vehicles.
Their interiors fall apart faster than others I've seen well besides the 02 ram Cummins we have. The only good thing about GM was the older engines like the 4.3 4.8 5.7 and 6.0 but I wouldn't trust the newer stuff they're making. I did have an 04 Silverado with a 4.8 engine had 270k miles and still ran great, ate up a few 4L60s though.

However I'll take your word for it, but as far as ford being American made....that just sux for America. I'm aware the 6.7 itself is a good engine, but everything else tends to be problematic. An with how Ford is so good at honoring replacing their problems i personally wouldn't touch a ford tho tbh everything is beginning to get bad in that are no matter what you buy gas/diesel.

Shameful GMC needs to go back and make REAL trucks ,with pop out vented window, Solid leaf sprung axles, and manual transmissions. Don't need a priused economizied, Cadillac feeling truck..That's why there called Trucks not Cars...
Throw some equal treads on along with a steel bumper to weigh down the front end of the GMC and we got us a more level playing field. BUT with that being said, the Titan XD fuckin PULLED!

Everyone is giving excuses as to why the GMC lost but people seem to forget that the Titan is still a half-ton. The GMC is not.
The XD is a class 2b truck. Not a half ton.
The classifications make the Titan XD sit in a weird spot. Yes, it's a 2b but barely. The 2500 Chevy still has a higher gvwr and a 2018 duramax makes over 100 more hp and over 300 ft-lb of torque stock over the Titan. Hardly in the same class if you ask me.
@@ryangansner2162 it’s in the same class as the 03-07 generation of the 2500 diesel trucks. If this truck was released back then without emissions, I bet it would’ve been sweet. Of course it’s not as good at the 5.9.
When reliability comes into question Nissan and Toyota both pace ahead of the big three. That to me is the big deal breaker. The only American brand I’d purchase is Ford simply because I grew up being a fan of them. The titan is also cheaper and has a better warranty.
Both trucks have plenty of power!! It all boils down to traction! I pull in these tractor pulls and I can out pull a chipped up powerstroke and I have an 06 ram 2500 with a 5.7 hemi! But I have a dump bed insert that weighs over a thousand pounds! So I have more traction,that's what this all boils down to!

Now I been pulling for 11 years and when you have track conditions like that you can’t even compare the two hooks to one another but normally in a fairly stock setup the truck with less HP will win simple reason is less wheel spin and that means traction.

@@2NationRaider They had a problem with the engine wiring harness. That is the only real major issue. I would look around and see what upgrades harness items are being offered. Its a solid truck IMO

It is nice. I had a new 2010 Titan which I loved but the new model kept getting pushed back and I could not wait anymore. I bought a Ram 1500 5.7 4x4 which I also love.

Everytime I go under my Titan I wonder why Nissan put One ton components in a truck they sold as a half ton. As far as I can tell so far the only thing that's keeping the XD from being rated as a 3/4 ton is the 6 bolt lugs. I wonder if the NV series 8 bolt hubs and axle components would be an easy swap...
Because they don’t have 1 ton components under it. F150 has more payload and towing capacity than their xd.

If you look at some of the internal Nissan case studies you can see they were dipping their toes in the water before going all the way into the 3/4 and one ton market. However, when Nissan went through their big turmoils forcing ghosen out, the XD Diesel was one of the axed projects.

The Cummings diesel has some issues and when you could buy another half ton that had more towing capacity and was more reliable, why would you waste money on the XD?Yes, I realize it’s all legal but if they could have passed the test of being in the 3/4 market, why not go for that?

Was the rear diff locked on the Pro-4x? That would make a big difference, along with the tires.
It's only locked up to 4 mph in 4 low.

Lextex the xd wasn't designed to compete with 3/4 tons, but one thing I notices is that with 1500lbs in the back it doesn't squat like a Ford F250 does. When you don't want the rough ride of a 3/4 ton but want more than a half ton the titan fits the bill perfecr. Sure an f150 with the max tow package can tow just as much, but won't handle the load anywhere near as well as the titan. I worl mine hard here in the oilfield here in West TX, idling all day in 100+ degree heat, going through sand traps loaded with 1500lbs of salt gel an pulling a trailer and it doesn't flinch. Not to mention the A/C is a hell of alot better than what I've experienced with the big 3. So If a half ton with a small engine like the eco diesel or mini powerstroke isn't enough but you don't want a 3/4 ton, the 5/8 ton titan works perfect. I had my doubts about the titan xd myself till I bought one. Aside from the shitty torque management program and throttle mapping from nissan the truck is great. Love the fact I can adjust the headlights from inside the cab so when I'm hauling heavy loads I can adjust them to out the light on the road instead of in other drivers eyes. Toyota has had this feature since 07. Why the big 3 haven't got this yet is beyond me. Warranty is great too. Besides I don't need a small penis substitute. The titan is just as much of a real truck as any. It has its purpose just like a 3/4 ton and a 1 ton has. And go look under the hood of a titan xd. Tons of room and easy to work on/service. You don't have to take the cab off to work on it like a powerstroke. You can see and get to everything. On a durable and powerstroke you can't see any of the engine.

I find it funny I keep seeing comments about sandbags in the Nissan. It is as if people all have x-ray vision and can determine no sandbags were loaded in the GMC.
The Nissan has more aggressive tires and has sand bags in the bed for extra weight over the rear tires. The Titan xd is also having a plethora of drivability issues, I'm not a GM fan by any stretch but I would gladly take the GMC over the Nissan here.

I’m looking at a Black 2017 Nissan Titan XD Cummins to buy. I’ve heard good and bad so I’ve been hesitant to buy it but man it’s the perfect truck for me.
Go for it, but I recommend you get a delete kit asap, the stock exhaust gives lots of problems and plugs easily ( I have one and it's not deleted and has given me problems)

Lets start with the basics. It's a Cummins engine, not a Nissan. Stock tires on the GMC and aggressive tread on the Datsun. And by virtue of cubic inch the Cummins mathematically will never make the same torque as the Isuzu plant. Ironic how a Japanese car company uses an anerican engine and an American car company uses a Japanese plant. Go fihure..
On top of all the irony, its truck pulling. Front end weight,driver,transmission shift points,suspension,etc all play a huge part in how a truck will pull. The GMC had new aggressive tires. They didn't look it in the vid but they are not street tires. My goal with this vid was to create conversation and i think i succeeded.
Some of you all need to go look at both the curb weights on these two trucks I'll leave if right here for you to answer me back your thoughts

I respect both trucks. It was nice to see a little 5.0 Cummins power down the track against much bigger displacement trucks. Look at our other videos. We have beat and lost to many other trucks. It’s just cool to see it take place.

I was there. They both had aftermarket aggressive tires. But you can say what you want. The Nissan did well up against a 100-150HP advantage the GMC had.
Gods honest truth I’ve actually owned a 98 gmc Serra ( worst mistake with that year having the troubled transmission problems) so it sat in my yard rusting away for three months till I sold it to my neighbor now it sits in his yard even after he dropped a new transmission in it. Won’t even pull his dump trailer. Well I shared my horror story with my boyfriend about that truck an he ended up buying a 2004 Titian se, to be honest we haven’t found anything that out runs that truck. After a fresh oil change we rode out to our local little town to grab a bite to eat when I noticed a what I thought was a black Porsche ridding up beside him (plot twist it was actually a Ferrari) this mf besides he wanted to pass us on a open hwy I told my boyfriend “oh but hell now let’s show him what these little horses under the hood does. That truck kept pace with a Ferrari till we realized we was getting close to to where we known where the cops love to sit at an run their radar 😂 so we backed off an proceeded to watch the stupid black turd get his ticket. Morale of the story buy you a full sized family truck with a fucking race car motor an the towing capacity of 9000 pounds
Also my construction company has a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 4500 with Duramax motor an Alison transmission. You’d think a 76k truck would pull a greasy string outta of a cats ass but it doesn’t instead it goes in to limp dick mode every time we try to pull equipment or try to haul something. It’s been in the shop 5 times since my boss got it (it’s even had a new computer put in it with a performance chip) an still to this day has not showed me why to buy one of over priced pile of trash, did I mention it only has 6870 miles on it ?🤣
Never saw the weight of the sled shift towards the tongue for the Titan. BIG difference when the test is conducted within equal controls. Don't fall for the trick of the eye....

A lot of pullers roll on A/Ts to gain more wheel speed, then the MT guys for more grip. Something I’ve been told once. Idk if it’s true.

Both nice trucks but Nissan over engineers and tests the shit out of vehicles before they sell them to the public. More so then a lot of North American stuff. The GM for looks but the Nissan for drive train quality and longevity.

Titan had added weight in sand bags and different tires and it was done in the rain and jeepers let off the foot feed and let the tires catch up and grab and the engine size just lacks in Titan plus not as smart of trans compared to the allison

Lets see here. The Duramax had aprox 150 more HP. ( 1.6 ) larger engine than the Nissan. Both truck had same performance mods. Both had new aggressive tires, Both weighed exactly 8500 pounds. Both we seasoned pullers.So how was it unfair? The comments in this vid are very very interesting lol. We do enjoy everyone's opinions and input tho!
Walt Cheney well for one, unless dmax had weight added as well, it did not weigh 8500 lb. secondly for some reason, that Nissan was moving far more dirt with its tires, so i am almost positive the weren’t equipped with identical tires, new or not new. For all I know the dmax has new touring and fuel economy tires and Titan has aggressive offroaders. I took note the dmax did far more smearing around. Last of all, it was way way to wet to pull accurately
It may have been tire pressure, even tire with. The dmax was helpless as a turtle on its back as far as traction goes
Very good observations! Both trucks did weigh in over the scales at 8500 pounds. There was weight in the box of both trucks. We have 26 years of pulling education. So tire pressure and line choice came into play here also. Overall both were beautiful pulls in very wet and slimy conditions.

so this is my first titan ever they bragged this thing up, so it looks nice,, rides nice, even with a 6 inch lift, drives ok but i put my 16 ft haulmark work trailer on this thing and i sit at the light it turns green i have it floored and 4 cars get thru the intersection before i get back tires across the line, so if your not gonna tow and you dont mind the incredably hard shifting this truck is for you, grocery getter, i sold duramax and my cummins to try this out, regretting now somewhat

ray fuller How many miles on it? I have a'17 XD. It was the same way until it hit 15,000. miles. Then, it was like someone woke it up. It pulls like a mull with its Ass in fire. A totally different truck!
I also pull a 36' 5th wheel. Ling hauls, 500 + miles a day. Got the Titan 50 gal tank. I've got to say on the open road this truck is perfect. I've owned them all. It's not the most powerful but, it's just right. Average mpg while towing is 14.8 at 75 mph. We live in the Rockies. The truck isn't a beast climbing....cruises at about 50 mph on a 4 percent grade. Overall I'm very happy with it. It's not a race truck. After the break in (15,000.) miles there was a huge increase in power from a stop.

No i enjoy truck pulls very much. Its a big part of what we do during the summer. And you have this truck out to be something it's not.. the fact is that duramax is twice the truck of what that nissan is..

XD is the newer truck.....and that GMC is an older style ......Newer GMC trucks have more power.....If the gmc was newer....it would have beat the xd.
Both great trucks, the GMC has amlost 750 lbft of torque with the LML Duramax compared to maybe 550 in the Titan. So your point of an older vehicle is a mute point.
