    Good demo. You demonstrate perfectly how the Big Sky can lead a player towards new areas of composition. I believe the Big Sky is one of those effects that is close to being a musical instrument in its own right because of the sound generation possibilities. You can route a sine wave through one and it becomes an amazing synthesizer.

      +Adam Mindykowski I completely agree! I was inspired to play some things I would never have played if it was not for the pedal!

  • @duppykitoon
    @duppykitoon 7 лет назад +1

    Great video! Right now I'm trying to decide whether to buy this pedal or the BlueSky. The thing that's concerning me is the ease of use factor. I looked at the BigSky manual (25 pages long compared to 5 pages for the BlueSky) and it looks daunting. Is there a steep learning curve for the BigSky, or is there an easy path to navigating through the sounds?

    • @AntoineMichaudGuitar
      @AntoineMichaudGuitar  7 лет назад +1

      I didn't find anything too difficult to understand about the BigSky. I'd say that pedals like the Strymon DIG or El Capistan have a steeper learning curve because of the secondary functions that you do not see.
      I swapped the BlueSky for the BigSky because the BigSky offers so, so much more (if you are a huge lover of reverbs like me). The different types all have distinctive qualities to them. All the presets are already very good without touching anything at first! You can go much further with decay and crazy long reverbs!
      And the MAIN reason I gave up on the BlueSky was the absence of control on modulation speed and amount. It's just a ''mod'' mode with the toggle switch and I found that the default modulation on the pedal wasn't near what I consider my sweet spot.
      That being said, if you want a plug & play reverb pedal that sound fabulous without having to spend at least an hour scrolling through presets, understanding what knobs do and accessing some inside parameters on the pedal, you shouldn't go for a Strymon ;)

    • @duppykitoon
      @duppykitoon 7 лет назад +2

      Thanks, that's pretty much what I was thinking, especially regarding the one trick mod function. Big Sky, here I come!

      +Bern Sanchez You can find everything on my channel already on my playlist called 'Strymon BigSky - My Custom Sounds''. I have 7 of my own presets in there and all the parameters are in the description box of each video. So in this video, it is:
      Sound 1 - Strymon BigSky Sound #1 (100% wet bloom)
      Sound 2 - Strymon BigSky Sound #7 (chorale mode)
      Sound 3 - Strymon BigSky Sound #2 (shimmer, EHX Micro POG style)
      Sound 4 - Strymon BigSky Sound #4 (Dark Cloud in the style of Eventide Space Blackhole)
      I cannot do them all, cause I play with a lot of patches in this video and some of them are also stock... But these are the first four sounds from 0:00 to 10:00 !

    Hey monochrome, i am thinking of getting this pedal as my dedicated reverb pedal to begin making ambient music. is this pedal good with using a volume pedal for swells and would you recommend this over other reverbs?

    • @AntoineMichaudGuitar
      @AntoineMichaudGuitar  7 лет назад

      If you want to get the most reverbs options, this is really the best pedal to get. It works great with volume pedals and it even have a swell mode if you don't have one. The only con is that is it very pricey, especially to start with ambient music. You might want to start with something smaller and upgrade with time!

    • @AndroxineVortex
      @AndroxineVortex 7 лет назад +1

      Monochrome Seasons well the reason I'm thinking about getting it is due to the amount of verbs and features. most other good reverbs have 1 or a few types of reverbs and then one tone and a time knob. Yeah it is expensive but i think of it this way: with this one pedal i can make fantastic drones and swells all by itself where if i got something else it would be almost needed to get 1 or 2 delays. i find the big sky has the most experimental capabilities.

    your 40ties hz is so distructing! was it that hard to ground your circuitry? (still thumbed up for the playing technique, but would thumb down for the humm noise distruction!)

    • @AntoineMichaudGuitar
      @AntoineMichaudGuitar  8 лет назад

      Weird. You're the first person to notice something like this on my 200+ youtube videos. I mean, the guitar almost does not have anything in the 40hz range. Also, I'm pretty sure I apply a low cut of anything below 100hz when I mix my guitar, so it's very weird!

    • @XPJV

    Dommage, ce bruit de fond, qui commence à la première seconde et s'entend pendant 30 minutes...

      C'est étrange, quelques personnes me l'ont mentionné, mais je n'ai jamais entendu ce fameux bruit dans aucun de mes postes d'écoute. Quel est votre système de son?

      @@AntoineMichaudGuitar Une bonne vieille chaîne Hi-Fi reliée à mon PC par une carte son Yamaha, avec des enceintes passives + enceintes studio actives. Si tu écoutes bien la vidéo de 0:00 à 0:05, tu l'entendras, impossible de le rater. Et après 0:05 la musique arrive, mais le bruit reste. La note de fond est un Si grave, et le début de la vidéo est en do, c'est comme ça que je l'ai remarqué. Mais bon, pas si grave :)

      I don't know... the fact that the word ''borrow'' is in quotation marks does not fill me with a great sense of trust ;)
