Last year I debated between the New Warriors and Thunderbolts... ultimately went T Bolts but didnt love it... was ok. What do you like about anew Warriors.
@@Stephen_D421 characters, art and admittedly a bit of nostalgia. Most the characters are former sidekicks finding their own way. New Warriors kind of like a mix of Gen X and X force. Had some good artists over the years like Zircher and Bagley
Crazy to think that since the pandemic came and left we've had all of classic New Warriors, three Excalibur volumes with the last just out of reach, FIVE straight Wolverine volumes with the first reprinted, revivals of decades-old printings of Silver Age Iron Man and Hulk, new Silver Age Daredevil one potential volume away from the Frank Miller run, 2 Power Packs, 2 Cloak & Daggers, SIX Peter David Hulk volumes, classic Iron Fist, classic Luke Cage, Ka-Zar, The Thing, 3 New Mutants, 5 Thunderbolts, 5 Moon Knights (with another on the way), 4 She-Hulks, a Nova collection, new and old Captain Marvels, 3 What If...?s (with another coming) AND an omnibus based on the X-Men animated series from 30+ years ago, amongst others.
The New Warriors were my first comic. The New Warriors were my first Omnibus. The New Warriors were my first love for comics. The New Warriors forever! Oh, and The New Warriors brought me to NMC!
I'm very happy that NW v1 finished out in Omni format I jjust wish the mapping woukd have been better. The Night Thrasher series and Nova v2 really should have been fully incorporated. All three series were being written by Fabian up until he dropped all of them which was about half way for both series. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a Volume 4 so the other volumes get the same treatment. Volumes 2-5, Nova v3, Slapstick and Ultragirl could all be thrown into a couple Omnis. If they could do Omnis for Avengers The Initiative and Avengers Academy that would be sweet as well.
So you know I'm a huge NW fan and your NW brother Omar, but after Fabian left the book (as of Omni 2) just felt like the book was not the same, even though its certainly better than later NW efforts. That being said this book has the awesome Justice Mini and some MCP NW stuff i don't own so I might just have to give in and get it despite planning on passing originally. Marvel needs to Morrison/JLA this book bring back the OG 6 add Sil and Rage and go from there as thats the lineup NW fans really want to see!
Waited so long for this! I hope this isn’t the end of the New Warriors in omni format. There’s still New Warriors vol 2, Nova vol 2 and 3, and Night Thrasher’s solo series which all haven’t been fully collected in any format so I hope Marvel gets to those eventually
Omar, you make a good point for another omni to include the Nova & Night Thrasher series. Maybe even mapped within the New Warriors' omni so instead of a companion, could've been extended to 4 volumes. The part of the series, after Fabian left, isn't my favorite. It's also unfortunate that Marvel has never been able to capture the magic of the original run since. Still glad to have this bookend to the series.

90s gets a bad rap for art (mainly from people who weren't there). But art from Jae Lee, Michael Turner, Larry Stroman, J Scott Campbell, Amanda Conner, Gary Frank and Pat Zircher here amongst many others make it so much better than modern era IMHO
How did you hold back from doing an Overview special like Wolverine Vol.3. Anyway, when I got into omni collecting New Warriors was high on my list. I dropped off in singles on issue 50. Now I can close the run in OHC format.
Finally! After how many resolicits? Lost count. Kind of looking forward to this volume since i had stopped reading it at this point. Really never cared for Scarlet Spider. Redundant crappy character with a terrible costume. He totally represented all that was wrong with 90s comics. And what happened to Justice's costume? It's terrible. Another victim of the 90s I'm guessing. But even with these complaints I am looking forward to seeing if it is still as well written as past volumes. Of course getting the cover without Scarlet Spider forefront on the cover.
We were really scraping at the bottom of the barrel for super hero names in the 90’s, weren’t we? No wonder why Marvel and DC just recycle old super hero names with new characters in them, lol.
