    Looking very forward to seeing the Necromunda content. We just finished up our first campaign last month.
    As for Peachy's gang. My suggestion is to do a corrupted Escher gang - either Chaos or Genestealer.
    This way he can try something different, but still stay with something familiar and loved.

    That chunk of sabbat martyr peachy talks about is the most cinematic 40K writing ever. It should be used as the primer for all the shows they make. Run the traditional there is only war blurb, then follow Dalin Through the battle as a one take shot. That would get everyone’s attention

    Henry Cavil As Ciaphas Cain, He'll never die, he's basicaly the only 40k charecter that is relatable to a modern human, and the tone is going to be more forgiving as far as getting orks on screen.

    Having something to do with the Rogue Traders might be interesting for an Amazon series, showing the different races that the Imperium encountered and the arduous task dealing with the administratum and the horrors of the warp, set up like a mockumentary of life in the Outer Rim. Something like The Orville series.

    Peachy, bit of a tangent - there is an audiobook on audible called 'Aliens: Bug Hunt' that is a collection of short stories about Colonial Marines (Including those at Hadleys Hope) and their experiences with various types of 'bug', previous to their ultimate fate on LV426. Its an interesting listen. Good show guys!

    • @stujm84
      @stujm84 2 года назад

      The audiodrama River of Pain is also top notch for what happened on LV426 prior to the events of Aliens
      The bug hunt collection is good. Some (1 or 2) stories are a bit naff, but the stories focusing on the marines from Aliens are the better ones though!

    To Peachy's point about Wheel of Time and Rings of Power, I'd level Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings and Dredd. Both adaptations weren't perfect 1 to 1s of the source material, but they captured the core of their stories and were served well by their writers and directors. LOTR is a classic trilogy and Dredd is widely regarded as a great film as well.

    TBH I think the Bequin series could have worked really well as an adaptation to TV. Would have put Cavill in one of the roles that the community seem to imagine him in. Eisenhorn. and on top of that its a good story, from a human perspective in the 40k universe that cements things like Astartes and Xenos as extremely rare and extremely dangerous.

  • @ProrokLebioda
    @ProrokLebioda 2 года назад +4

    I'm with you on WH40K show/movie. Start small, grow slowly. As much as players like Space Marines, starting with regular human perspective is smarter choice. If DCEU teaches us something is that jumping the shark is not the best idea. Develop your universe for average watcher, then you an expand and introduce more abstract ideas.
    Tanith story as a TV show, that ends season with scene described by Peachy would be a perfect fit. Finish with a bang, leave viewers hanging and wanting more!
    Space Marines should be treated as 'monsters' in 40k show. They could be more humanized in 30k storyline, but still more 'grandiose' than regular human. Not mentioning Primarchs.
    I hope they don't mess it up and not make it bland.

  • @Pownypower
    @Pownypower Год назад +1

    Honestly I think the Warhammer Crime approach would be a good jumping off point for like a mini series, Varangantua is definitely grimdark but it's not insanely so that people who aren't familiar with the setting can't understand the premise. Plus the noir feeling would translate really well I believe.
    Then they can build off of that; maybe we get to follow hive conscripts who are shipped off to fight some rebellion, or we get to follow some gangers trying to scrape a living fighting other gangs and the corrupt system.
    I think a proper Warhammer "cinematic universe" for lack of a better word would have to take the approach Marvel has taken; start out with the fluffy but relatable stuff that fits both fans and those who have more or less no experience with the setting and then ramp up to the more obscure and gritty stuff.

  • @WarhammerGeek
    @WarhammerGeek 2 года назад +3

    I think the best thing to do would be to not adapt a story and instead carve out your own just for the series. That would give you more freedom to explore and have things progress. It would also make sense to have the main character be an Inquisitor or even a Rogue Trader because they are uniquely powerful enough to be able to freely go about the universe while still being human. With a Rogue Trader, you could even have an Eldar or Kroot be part of the retinue and slowly explain what those are. It also wouldn't be unusual for either position to later run into a Space Marine or some Sisters of Battle. Have the opening shot be the protagonist walking down a corridor establishing the gothic aesthetic. Have them walk past a servitor or have a servo-skull fly by. Set up from the get-go that things aren't great in this universe.

    Something you said got me thinking. When you say "they need to humanize Space Marines" i am reminded of the awful Space Marine movie where they were all new Space Marines, but were acting like a bunch of 20yo army grunts. But they are not that. By the time they are space marines they have been fighting for years; so even the newest tactical marine is more a vet than any vet we have in RL. Though also like it was mentioned, space marines seen through human eyes is really where they stand out. Seeing how much better they are than regular people really adds to the awe... then add in the xenos scum that can easily defeat them and you get a great snapshot of this wonderful dark universe.

    Start the WH40k cinematic universe with the rise to power of The Emperor on Earth and then the conflict with Mars.
    It is the most relatable story to onboard new fans and also the simplest story to instantly make dramatic.
    It also hasn't been completely mined out for existing 40K fans.

  • @donotinteract7851
    @donotinteract7851 2 года назад

    I think you're right that Eisenhorn is a great place to start with a 40k cinematic/television universe, with one small problem: it has basically nothing to do with the tabletop (there's the occasional space marine and chaos space marine, and some guardsmen, but there aren't any huge battles and most of the xenos and chaos threats are absent). I think they should start with Eisenhorn, but my worry is that they'll try to go for something more linked to the tabletop (much like the stuff on Warhammer+). It's definitely the most approachable Black Library series, imo.
    40k has a bit of a problem (I guess) that there's no central narrative that everything wraps around, except maybe the Heresy. Star Wars has the original trilogy to revolve around, Middle Earth has The Lord of the Rings, but there's no single conflict at the heart of 40k - by design, it's a banquet of different wars, conflicts and interests. Heresy could work but it's also set 10,000 years before the tabletop setting, and is very different to the world of 40k in many ways. Could definitely imagine a limited series based around the first 3 Heresy novels, though...
    Would love to see Jason Isaacs as Eisenhorn, think he'd be able to smash the role. A man can dream...

    I think Cavill will be a Custodes as they effectively are immortal. So he could be one of the originals Custodes from the Unification of Terra all the way to present day as an Eye of the Emperor if you didnt want the character tied to the throneworld

    I would love Amazon to do the Heresy, but I think the easiest way to humanise it and give it that gateway feel to new folks would be the Remebrancers.
    The first book in the series generally has that feel to it as well, only the later books are just Astartes handbags at dawn.
    That way the marines are almost background noise.
    But the main reason why I think it'll be something like Eisenhorn is the cost factor.
    I mean how much money will it make to bring entire legions to life? Would it be practical suits, augmented cgi suits, fully cgi? And the cgi is the bit that worries me the most as that can be an immersion breaker when done poorly.
    What ever they hopefully do release I'll be giving it my full support, even if it didn't meet my expectations ... because that's the only way we'll see more. I hope many understand and realise that hashtagging not my warhammer would only seal the coffin on future projects.

    I don't understand Jeff's complaints about Space Marines just fighting. Sounds amazing.

      Don’t get me wrong I love the idea of marines getting their gun on, I just don’t want them to be just 1 dimensional characters - Geoff

      @@thepaintingphase No I totally get it. Should have used /s. I think it'll be hard to make them more than that though. They'll either need to follow a Scout so we can see how they grow and interact, or just not make Space Marines the focus. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with and what Henry ends up playing as.
