- Today I get to play with the new Pixio PX277 Prime Neo, a 27-inch QHD FAST IPS gaming monitor with a rapid 180Hz refresh rate. I tested this monitor for a number of days with varied tasks. It's been good fun to learn about what I've been missing!

Under 10 mins? This is effectively a RUclips Short for you, Tom!
Tell me about it!! Longer stuff in the pipeline.
HRR is certainly very nice. My first 120Hz LCD was almost 13 years ago, one of the first higher refresh LCD's from Acer for using with Nvidia's 3D Vision. It was TN, but one of the best TN panels I've seen to this date and I kept it for a long time. After many experiments with different panel technologies and refresh rates later, including a CRT I have sitting in the corner for when I feel like it, I've settled on a 24 inch 1440p 165Hz and will be keeping it until desktop OLEDs are affordable.
I do most of my gaming on the OLED TV in the living room anyway.
Amazing review Tom, Your video creativity never ceases to amaze me. Amazing Video.
I am interested in your lighting setup for this video, the lighting is just beautiful in this one.
The monitor looks great to. Nice review again :)
Thank you so much! I'm hoping to do a nice little something on the second channel soon, so I'll include a segment about my lighting, and then hopefully more detail in the next part of the IMNC HQ series on this channel.
Nice to see people talking about refresh rate. I know several guys, primarily Apple guys go figure, who truly believe refresh rate doesn't matter because their computer is reaching 300, 400FPS in all their games. Explaining that refresh rate is limiting the viewable FPS is like talking to a brick wall.
Hey buddy, its nice to se you again. I have not visited this channel in years. Some how I lost you. I remember you guys doing a few cooking shows way back and showing us how to make breakfast English style. Of course I dont think we eat like that over here. At least not the baked beans. LOL.
I used a set of two BenQ PD2500Qs for many years, when one of them played up I got an open box AOC 144Hz 34" 1440p ultrawide monitor and I was blown away. Even with it being just a "cheap-ish" VA panel, the HRR especially really wowed me in both Windows and macOS. The variable refresh options in macOS made it flicker though.
The feeling of high refresh rate is unbeatable, makes 60hz look jarring.
I’ve been using some high refresh rate displays also, but they probably weigh more than a PowerMac! CRT displays still work great, but it’s cool to see a modern display with lots of features!
Can’t beat a CRT!
I'm rocking a slightly older (but pretty much top of the range at the time) ViewSonic Elite XG27QG that does 165Hz. I'm used to the higher end Dell UltraSharp monitors for good colour so didn't want to lose that when getting a higher refresh display for gaming. It's still a cracking display. I can't ever go back to a "standard" refresh rate display for games now, I've been ruined lol. The colours are also great. IPS 98% DCI-P3, all that good stuff. It's as good as the UltraSharp I have set next to it that cost more in terms of colours. It's also brighter and shows more detail in low light scenes!
You'll never want to get anything less than this in the future now you've used a proper high refresh rate!
Definitely! I started filming this a couple of weeks ago, it hasn’t taken long to treat this refresh rate as my new ‘normal’ and I’m now begrudging using anything else. I don’t know if that’s good or bad 😅
It looks nice! I used to use a 144Hz monitor myself on my PC and the refresh rate bump was definitely lovely to have on the desktop. Unfortunately the colours were quite lacking due to it being a TN panel. Glad to see some real nice IPS panels are becoming more and more affordable! I think we've got the same Dell U2412M monitor, I switched to that after having the gaming one for a bit and I missed having colours like this lmao. 16:10 is so nice too, hope it becomes more common on screens like this in the future!
Definitely! Playing with this Pixio monitor has opened my eyes in terms of refresh rate and brightness, but I was also very surprised just how well the old workhorse U2412M has held up.
Once you go HRR it is so hard to go back!
Man, Tom’s posting this frequently?! This reminds me of the days of IMNC MKI when you still had Larry the fish!!! RIP Larry. We miss you, little dude. 🥲

Nice one mate keep the videos rolling -blokeyface
Thank you blokey! Sorry there wasn't much time for you to snack during this one, I'll upload a longer one next time and you can sit down with some good grub!
@@ItsMyNaturalColour cheers mate, I'll make sure to order a large kebab for the next long one!
I was already to grab some snacks and enjoy then I realized it was only 10 minutes 😂 Tom are you feeling ok buddy?
🤣 I can only apologise... it's not sitting right with me either! I wanted to 'get to the point' with this one. Good news is though I do have some proper ramble sessions in the pipeline. Keep those snacks handy!
Great vid Tom! Love multi vids in a couple of weeks! BTW we all love a simple nipple 😂
hahaha absolutely!
He’s back? Or is my algo crazy hiding everything you’ve done lately? Glad to see you buddy!
Thank you!! There was a big gap, but I’ve put out a handful of videos recently so it’s worth having a look if you feel like it. Lots more to come too !
high refresh rate monitors are the best. i shook my file manager window for like an hour when i first got mine lol
I'm still moving windows around just for fun a week later 😂
Hi, do you have an updated link for your Discord? I think the one in the description expired
Sorry about that, here we go discord.gg/Rvy98YArxB
The problem is once you have had high refresh rate you cannot go back ( its kind of like when we switched to SSDs). I use a 120htz oled for my monitor and its almost impossible to use anything else .
I can definitely imagine. This is a huge difference, so adding OLED into the mix too is next level.
I'm sorry Tom but what is this CleanMyMac nonsense in the description? Mac Cleaner? gives me flashbacks to mackeeper
Do you use it personally?
Absolutely! CleanMyMac has been around for donkeys years. I used to use it heavily back in the day on old very slow systems to squeeze as much life out of them as possible. These days it's still got a lot of handy functions. I opt for the lowest storage option on most of my Macs and its surprising how quickly 256GB can fill up with junk. The app goes beyond what macOS can offer in terms of 'tidying up' those files we can't see. I don't use all functions, but it's quite a staple for Mac users.
I'm on the affiliate program so its just another small way to help towards the channel.
@@ItsMyNaturalColourOh i see, i just get the alarm bells ringing whenever i hear cleaning programs 😂
Thanks a lot for the explanation, btw.
@@awesomeguysuncle No problem at all, completely understandable!
nice shirt!
Thank you! Good to get the summer shirts out again.
@@ItsMyNaturalColour gonna have to dig out my Hawaiian as well
i dare you to use it with your mac pro 1,1!😃
Great idea 😂
A sunny day in Wales?
