I been living in Biloxi for 68 years and never saw anyone devein a shrimp like that. That’s a great idea. I’m showing my 94 year old mother. I don’t know if I would do it on a 50 lb boil but definitely for a small boil.
Hey Russ, thanks for sharing your indoor technique. Because of all of the excessive heat we’ve had this summer I’ve been more inclined to some indoor stovetop cooking. I’ll definitely be giving your technique a try with my favorite Swamp Fire seasoning. I learned the best tips and tricks from you when doing the big low country boils and I always nail the shrimp perfectly. I’m looking forward to you steamed vs boiled crab video coming up 👍🏻
Hey Adam, good to hear from you. Yeah this technique will give you perfect results on low BTU burners and takes all the guesswork out. The Boiled VS Steamed crabs is a live show that I was invited to be on this Tuesday at 6pm. Cheers Adam! Keep your eyes on that storm that is brewing up.
This boil mix was a great one. Compass Point Boil was awesome! The lemon oil was just enough to taste. It wasn't over powering the shrimp! I love that my hubby will cook at least once a week!
Did it tonight with a pound of shrimp, in my soak pot I had about a gallon of water and used 1.5 cups of Swamp Dust, let soak for 15min and for me they were a perfect medium heat. If one prefers a little more I think 20 or 25min like the video would be fine. I followed everything else to the tee. Peeled like butter!!!
I used to do that in a double pot system at BlueWater Seafood on FM 1960 in North Houston .. You made me Missy and Johnny hungry for shrimp .... Now we gonna have to eat some Debris and rice and gravy .......
The shrip look fantastic. I've used lemon peel, or zest, and lemon juice for seafood. Lemon oil sounds amazing. That's a good way of deveining the shrimp. Cheers, Rus! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
very nice Rus glad you explained the water temp and not overcooking part, great video full of info liking that Cajun Taco. Question all of that New freeze drying your diong I know was lemons maybe could you use instead of the oil? TY
Thanks Lance! The lemon powder will add lemon flavor into a boil, but not as good as the lemon oil because it's more concentrated, but I would definitely use the powder if I didn't have the oil.
Good video Rus ! I have a question for you did you ever get a new stainless steel pot like the one the bottom boiled out of ? And did you ever contact the company about it ? Thank you PS. I never seen a vain taken out like that before. Now I want to try that . THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA.....
That was a aluminum pot that burned up while steaming crabs. Yes I bought a stainless steel steamer pot to replace it. The pot that burned out was 8 years old so I didn’t contact the company, and besides that, they are no longer in business
Thank you! That is a Cajun Rocket Pot but they are no longer in business but you can check out High Performance Cookers for a very similar pot. highperformancecookers.com/
wow, 11 years. where has the time gone 😊 my mom used to say time waits for no man 😊 nifty quick way to devein the shrimp. delicious boiled shrimp seafood is so good.
Haha, yeah that method is great for keeping them in tack. I always cook with the heads and shells on because of the extra flavor it adds to the shrimp. Thanks Rob, I appreciate it brother!
I haven’t watched your videos since I left Poland in 2018! I have so much catching up to do! I hope you’ve been great man! Love that you’re keepin it going!!!
Rus that was nice....I've recently married my LDR gf, our one yr anni is soon and she will be here in a couple of weeks for it. I normally cook for one...but a little extra for Wallace, he gets some of what I don't eat minus onions....the dude gobbles up anything, plastic, metal...and opossums. Don't come in the yard if he didn't like the dry stuff last night. With that said, we cook for two when she is here +Wallace...what other dishes are great and unique for the South Eastern areas...let's say, Ok, Tx, to Fl up to NC and back to Ok? Has to be for two...i've filled my freezer atm.
Man o man, I can only IMAGINE how guud dat is !!! It's a guud thing I don't live close to ya, I reckon we'd be in trouble alot, but havin a guud 'ol time Bro !!!!!

You can, but by letting them marinade they will pick up the flavor. They aren’t going to pick up much flavor in the short time they cook. Just a waste of seasoning
Yeah, when folks boil high volume amounts of shrimp, it's just not practical to devein that many. It would take forever but small batches like this can be done quickly. Thanks Gail!
