That’s no aesthetic, that is 2010 graphics. History. Muddy textures and grimy lighting like it’s WW1 or something. It’s wonderful and it runs fairly well on a tater pc too.
Not to toot our own horn too much, but this mod called "Screaming Steel: 1914-1918" was developed by a whole team including myself, and can be found on the Steam workshop for the base game. Development of the mod officially ended in 2021, but events are hosted from time to time.
I’m surprised there weren’t more big name army games on Source Engine, seems like it would be a good fit what with Titanfall, Insurgency, and Day of Defeat being fairly popular. I guess it’s just a tough crowd.
I will never understand why this game died. People whining about content and this one had more than some games still alive to this day. I would’ve still preferred more though but damn this game was so fun and it sucks to see it gone

Man, I really miss the hight of this game's lifespan. The popularity and consitently full servers was so much fun.
Love that source engine aesthetic

Reminds me of playing Call of Duty 1 rifles only back in 2003....what a time! Love the videos mate

Sometimes can't just believe it was created by Source engine.
These guys made both Insurgency games. I think this is their Magnum Opus. The gunplay can only be described as "intensely suicidal." 😂
Never played this game back in the day but I feel as though I missed out.
Day of war, battalion 1944, this game... They were a small "renaissance" of ww2 shooters😢
Love that game.
