Recently SMP Press reduced commissions specifically for arrangers from 20% to 10%. Does anybody know if there are any other programs like SMP Press on the web?
kbsaxlessons I will research this and make a video if I find other platforms. I have another video about putting arrangements and compositions on your own site. This is because your own website is your own platform. But I'm researching what other options are available for arrangers.
You're welcome! I find that no one is talking about it on the internet. Virtually nothing is out there about this! Albeit, I believe SMP Press is the only program like this out there so I will give them some credit, however, I have yet to be convinced that the 50% pay cut was justified.
yeah, the 10% comission is extremely low on arrangme... any experience with the public domain songs? Here they offer 45% commission atm. What is the commission with other platforms?
hi, what are your experiences on the arrangeme songs and the public domain songs? I uploaded 2 already on arrangeme complementary to my piano tutorials. i find the 10% comission atm quite low...
Hi, I have done several public domain ones and a few arrangeme songs. I do agree that the 10 percent royalty is very low. I may do a video explaining this in more detail about my experiences. As far as public domain goes, I've been okay. But I double as an original composer, so I do a mix of my own stuff with the arrangements. I'll do a video on this soon.
@@CodyWeinmannComposer is it worth in your opinion to put songs online on smp? Is it just a sidehustle for you or do you manage to earn quite a bit with it?One concern is that I am not allowed to sell it anywhere else.. not even give it away for free
@@mazaunschirm I would also diversify your income. Take a look at all the income sources you have. Udemy is an excellent source for teaching courses (online) so is Thinkific. You may think about broadening your scope as far as teaching goes (if you want to, of course). SMP is one place I use, but I also compose my own music from original pop, rock and folk to full on orchestral scores. I tend to make more from those. Do you just arrange or do you compose original stuff too? That is one question you have to ask yourself. Thank you for your comments. They inspire me to do more videos on this, the whole sheet music selling journey.
Hey DJ. Thanks for the idea. I can post a video on this. Essentially, you want to get in front of marching band directors. You want to go to high schools or middle schools that have the marching band directors on staff. Ask them nicely if they could read through your music. Remember, sales is a relationship-building business rather than just a transactional type business. Build relationships. Put videos of your marching band arrangements on your RUclips channel. Put the link in the description box to your sheet music.
Hi! Try going to your profile page on smp. There should be a list of options available for how to get your royalties. You could either select a paper check, PayPal or Sheet Music Plus gift certificate. I hope that helps!
thank you brother~
Thanks for the video!

Awesome, I have spent hours trying to find a website that offers this. I'll check back here
Also, thank you for letting all of us know about the percent decrease.

@@mazaunschirm I would have this as one way to side-hustle. On Average I make $30 or so from it every month.

Why am I only seeing part of your screen?
There is a picture on picture with me talking with a screen share. That should answer it.
