So many summer weekend memories while living young in Boston's North End and taking this train to north shore beaches😊

This is AWESOME! For a detailed question that's been on my mind is I have a good idea of where both ends of the former South Reading branch diverge off the MBTA mainlines (Salem station and Wakefield Junction), but where's the connecting junctions for the abandoned Newburyport "Branch" itself (where Guilford pulled freight until about 2001)? Did one end of the former Newburyport Branch diverge off near Wakefield Junction too? I'm really trying to find their " former shadows" to study.

I wished it would be Newburyport to North Station and back nonstop. That would be great.

Unfortunately the line isn’t dense enough for that

Charlie F Thank you for watching! Now that you request it, I shall do a return trip sometime in the future. My goal is to get all the commuter rail lines done before I film return trips. In the meantime, I suggest you check out some of my Metro North videos. I think you'll enjoy them!

You can drive from downtown Boston to Newburyport in about 40 min since it is all highway. The train takes longer since it needs to stop at several different stations and it takes a longer route to the north. It first heads North then northeast to Salem then heads north again through Wenham.

But add in Boston traffic at the rush hour and its basically the same if not shorter than by car at that time of day.
