It’s not about redemption or restoration of families. It is about the BEST INTEREST of the CHILD. The right of a child to live a happy healthy life and to stop abusers from hurting them. Unfortunately abuse can unless you lived through it and have studied it is very tricky to see. A kind calm parent in many cases is the abusers while the frantic scared parent is the victim or vice versa. This is why it’s so tricky n vital to have training by domestic violence experts like Ed Gondolf and Lundy Barcroft for example

This judge isn't talking about reunification camps or therapy. He is talking about family reunification. This is for kids that were taken away from parents because of abuse, neglect or drugs. The kids go into foster care and the parents have to complete therapy, drug treatment, parenting classes and more and then if they do well they can be reunified with their children.
Reunification camps are absolutely horrible, but that isn't what this judge is talking about.

Reunification services have never existed and my daughter is in her third placement due to there refusal to do what's in her best interest and place with family. But they tell her it's because they don't want me showing up why can I not be a part of my daughters life? She needs me and I need her. They have caused so much damage and I just want help to stop this abuse to my child any further. She's been completely neglected since they took her and she is 13 and will account for all she's been through because of DCFS and their lies lack of and manipulation.

Many times people who are disadvantaged have their fates decided by someone who has no idea what it is to be poor, addicted, or a minority. It takes a great deal of empathy to do social work the right way. I'm glad to see that there are judges out there who posses the skills to do this work.

I sure hope you turned that around because most judges are tearing apart family's for what amounts to collection of most possible subsidies from tax base. I am a loving available father , but son doesn't know it because of men like you , he might end up a statistic in a jail. I sure you are sincere about this effort you are making to correct your mistakes in the past

This judge is talking about kids that were taken away by CPS because their parents are doing drugs, or something else that is hurting the children. The parents then have to do drug treatment, parenting classes, get a job and more. Then if they show they have changed they are reunified with their children.
This is VERY different than reunification camps/therapy and I agree those are horrible. The word reunification is used a lot for many different things surrounding family courts not all of them are bad.

sure parents have a right to their child but at what point is repeated abuse and dv charges enough for someone to PROTECT these kids from their abusive parent rather than treat the child like a possession that a parent just gets rights to. U would never force a woman to go back and stay married after dozens of guilty battery charges yet the courts do it to kids

What a great pr campaign. Im dealing w the courts now trying to get my son from his mother who is emotionally and mentally abusive which they dont care. Its a absolute joke and im yet to meet a person i feel is qualified enough to help. Its sad they actually get in the way of the better parent and allow the abuse to continue all the while collecting tax dollars to do so. Its a lie and a scam but sadly the only option im left with to help free my son from what hes enduring. Major reform beeds to happen and our voices you know the people who use the system need to be heard when making decisions as we dont vote on any of these laws and i use that term loosely. There has to be a better way otherwise we are doomed as a nation which is already showing itself to be true.
