THE most epic scene in the entire show. Obviously, that fight didn't occur but it is one of the few times that the historical incoherence feels adequate. Fun fact, Spartacus' body was never recovered, so who knows if he truly died during the final battle against the Romans. Fortunately, the producers saw fitting to give it a glorious ending
we kinda know some few details. like the whole gladiator event for cixus death actually happened we know that in the battle Spartacus saw Crassus on the battlefield and pushed to confront him causing Crassus to get knocked of from his horse and be saved by his men. but we dont know what happened to spartacus his body was never found and none of the prisoners of war were willing or able to identify him.
I absolutely loved this show. Andy (RIP) and Liam were both awesome and Dustin as Gannicus was the coolest dude on the show. I am for coin and the company of questionable women was classic Gannicus line. I never watched Game of Thrones but think I would be disappointed after Spartacus. Did they ever say His real name? When Spartacus re-grabbed the sword by the blade, Crassus realized this guy was the real deal, and that he has nothing on Spartacus as both a warrior and tactician.
Yes, one of the best scenes in the show imo. Fantastic detail because earlier in the season Crassus learned that this was the way to defeat Spartacus, the actor did an amazing job with his reaction as he realized Spartacus had no match.

Incorrect Richard. He did indeed face Crassus on the battlefield. He and Crixus did indeed split forces. And both fought bravely till being beaten by superior numbers. Crassus was killed many uears later after a falling out with Pompei and the senate about attacking the Parthians. The Parthians offered Crassus a sit down talk, on way to said meeting one of Crassus men suspected ambush grabbed Crassus horse by the bridle and caused a fight with the Parthians. They killed the Roman Party including Crassus and poured molten gold down his throat as a symbol of his greed of wealth. Although not entirety accurate. Spartacus remains a good account the time back then. Amd was historically accurate mostly.
@@TheTich87 richard woodley is correct. you are in the wrong. the other richard never spoke of crassus. why did you? you only speak about crassus. the other richard only ever spoke of spartacus killing batiatus and glaber. and literaly said everything in the show spartacus about dealing with Crassus was only a add on bonus. dumbass

You need to get your head out of your ass so you actually understand what people are trying to say.
Easily the best portrayal of the Spartacus saga to have ever graced a screen, the most realistic arena fights and battles to have been recorded by camera and the best actor to have assumed the main lead role; an absolute cinematic epic that time will venerate as one of the finest of the genre regardless of any future attempts to render similar stories convincingly.
Realistic arena fights? Definitely not except maybe the executions of the criminals (if they were facing against a professional gladiator, then they wouldn’t have been given real weapons). The show brutalized the sport of gladiators more than what it really was in Ancient Rome. Nonetheless it was still a good show
The show definitely upped Crassus' Bad Guy repertoire to make him a proper nemesis. The real Crassus wasn't this Tywin Lannister master strategist, and he definitely wasn't a master swordsman who could take a champion gladiator in a fight.
I believe he was good enough as he beat the man who glaber couldnt defeat. and it requires quite an intelligence to amass that amount of wealth. he did not "take" spartacus in a fight. as you can see spartacus here is extremely tired of battle. hardly able to walk. at 00:29 he couldnt even thrust the sword. if spartacus as fresh as crassus, the fight would've taken 5 seconds.

I like how for Agron and the other slaves in the area, Spartacus's life was so much more important than Crassus's that they didn't even bother to kill Crassus - Agron just knocked him away as if he was just an insignificant lowlife, and it's as if he was so worthless to Agron and the other slaves in the area that they wouldn't spend [any of the time that they could spend staying with Spartacus during his (almost certain to be) final moments in life] to kill him. And all this is true while Crassus was at the time the most powerful and wealthy individual of the mighty Roman Republic, and Spartacus was seen by most of his contemporaries as little more than a dangerous slave who lead a failed rebellion - people didn't even know his original name. This to me shows the worthlessness of worldly power and fame in face of true heroism and righteousness. I was so moved and inspired by this scene.

Actually Spartacus was born rich and fought long with the Romans. Because of that he learned a lot about Military tactics and discipline and such. Then happened something and he found himself on the opposite side, was defeated and conducted in Italy as slave to fight as gladiator.. the rest is known... @@federicorudolph949 well... 530 yrs later, 1480 yrs later assuming the date of death of the Eastern Roman Empire. But it changed much about the idea of slavery in the republic. Someone else instead say that Caracalla's decision is the blow-off top of the entire legacy, which began with Romulus making few ppl "citizens of the new born city of Rome"... Damn still get me every time. Most shows that replace a lead actor end up not doing as well. It was Sad losing the former Spartacus to cancer but the new one filled his shoes perfectly and i hope made him proud. Rip.
The respect in this fight was awesome. Right before Spartacus goes for the winning blow, the small nod from his opponent. Nice little touch.
He said as he died it was not his name. I loved the fact that Crassus had so much respect for Spartacus. Just a great show. I still have the finale saved and watch it occasionally and tear up as he dies. I expected nothing when I started watching and got everything. Great show!
Even in the History (real life events), No one really knows or documented the real name of Spartacus.
When Spartacus re-grabbed the sword by the blade, Crassus realized this guy was the real deal, and that he has nothing on Spartacus as both a warrior and tactician.
He was a mighty legend the pillar of freedom to all who yarns for it
i think the whole point of their interactions was that they saw each other as equals, or at least they didn't underestimate each other
@@IinferusS Crassus never underestimated Spartacus since the beginning of the season he always respected Spartacus
Yes, one of the best scenes in the show imo. Fantastic detail because earlier in the season Crassus learned that this was the way to defeat Spartacus, the actor did an amazing job with his reaction as he realized Spartacus had no match.
It's pretty dumb, your hands will be Roman cheese before you can't move it
Before my father in law passed this was one of our favorite shows to watch. When Spartacus said bring me a sword after being impaled, we both said thats a TOUGH mfer. Miss you Kenny
The facial expressions by Crassus from 1:35 to 1:42 is acting at its finest. He says so much without saying a word.
Indeed, this is this moment he realized that he was the lesser warrior between the two of them and only fate spared him over Spartacus.
Just like that... 😭😭 That ending where he was embracing that final thrust of the sword after the flashbacks, really jerked the tears out of me.
This is one of the best series I ever watch it was action-packed from the first season to the end and I faithfully watched every last one of them!! Thanks you HBO!! Real Talk!!
Spartacus legend.... And today he is anywhere I salute his struggle and sacrifices...... And respect him a lot
damn just finished and im drowned in a valley of emptyness, this show was my life. I knew the last episode was coming and when it finished i was dead inside
Chin up, a spin off Spartacus series is in the works. Same show runner, Stephen Deknight. I'm guessing it'll be about Crassus, Ceasar & Pompey but just speculating
Have you watched vikings, or the last kingdom? Thats how i felt with those shows. Ive only seen bits and pieces of spartacus i think im gonna sit down and actually watch it
Man I remember when the finale aired and I wasn’t right for weeks. I sobbed and sobbed. Such a great fucking show
Spartacus got his vengeance on that weasel batiatus and he killed Gluber! The rest was just extra
@@TheTich87 richard woodley is correct. you are in the wrong. the other richard never spoke of crassus. why did you? you only speak about crassus. the other richard only ever spoke of spartacus killing batiatus and glaber. and literaly said everything in the show spartacus about dealing with Crassus was only a add on bonus. dumbass
@richard Woodley, history says he killed Batiatus, Glabrius(or glabber) and then face some Roman generals before being defeated by Marcus Crassuss
@@TheTich87 he meant that for a value of satisfaction, Spartacus already succeded well above expectations by getting his revenge on Batiatus and Glaber. He never claimed that Spartacus didnt face crassus. He just meant that by that point, it was just a bonus. Comprende?
You need to get your head out of your ass so you actually understand what people are trying to say.
@@sesanamusaamusa213 see my response to the other Richard.
Nonetheless it was still a good show
The best series I've ever watched!
I met most these guys at a “Spartacon” event in Maryland, decent bunch of guys. Most actors are arrogant and full of themselves.
Wish we got an epic fight like this between Jon Snow and the Night King
I never noticed Crassus’ little head nod at 1:36 as if he’s acknowledge that Spartacus has bested him and that he is about to die.
@@albertocarrilho5839 that’s just, like, your interpretation, man.
1:12 is just priceless, great acting job
U knew him or what?
marble89 I agree with you but keep in mind Crassus is not fresh either that head blow and falling from the horse is pretty damn severe tbh.
@@Vivallamannen What exactly? The way he amassed his wealth is no secret and he was a decent tactician. Many remember him only for Carrhae

A great show that alot of ppl have forgotten about!
To this day the emotion of this scene, the acting by Liam in this scene was unbelievable . Why these actors were robbed of the awards they deserved I will never understand
Liam did a great job. The ending was very hard. RIP Andy Whitfield the greatest Spartacus. This series is epic
One of the Best shows I have seen in years.
Is there any other good show like spartacus
Such a great series. The makeup, the set, the script. A+

One of the best epic series movie ever made...still pumps my adrenaline
epic series, epic acting, epic action, epic story. in every way
1:13 the look of "Fuck why this isn't working again?" 😂
Those last 3 episodes 💔 Crixus battle. The Gladiator tribute battle. The final battle vs Rome and then Spart vs Crass. SHALL WE BEGIN?!
*Chefs kiss* it was so damn good ! The best ending ever to any series. We all wanted the different outcome but wow wow wow . And Liam gives me GOOSEBUMPS EVERY SINGLE TIME!
he lives as a man died as a man
No .......he was born a god....... lived as a god and....... AND DIED A GOD 🏋️
even better
And more importantly he died a free man
why do people keep thinking they will do a spin-off...spartacus is gone..he was the soul of the story...it's done
reboots are a thing of the future. and modern day people are brainwashed that way
@राष्ट्रीय समाजवादक b
but the actor that did Caesar was not that good
Well because Spartacus story is closely intertwined with Caesar and Crassus and the fall of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire
@@wayne47able i wouldn't mind seeing a spin off of his comrades after they buried him and what they did after the made it to the other country, what the Roman republic did afterwards
Not a spin-off but a sequel where they show the fall of the Republic or the Empire
This show honestly has some of the coolest choreography

Rip spartacus, crixus, gannicus, enomao y todos los demas que lucharon por la libertad.. la mejor serie 😢
THE best TV series ever. Had it all.
Una gran serie ESPARTACO lo mejor que vi en Netflix
Andy had a very quiet demeanor as Spartacus. Liam had a very Shakespearean grasp on Spartacus. Both were fantastic as Spartacus!
Your comment is spot on I'm always happy to listen to observations and insights of others. Hope you don't mind?
@@DavidSmith-bk7dv Excellent I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this. Spartacus is one of my favorite shows of all time. And I love conversing about this show

It's just the power of iron Man .. Don't forget wonder woman love on him
spartacus won end off......spartacus beat crasus in that fight, spartacus managed to save some slaves, spartacus died with his people in peace, crasus lost his son,had to kill kory, dident get to kill spartacus, and never got the glory of winning or killing spartacus................
In reality Spartacus never met Crassus
@@therabbi9848 wtf he did twice at least. Once he arranged a meeting with him and tried to negotiate , but crassus refused. Also, in the final battle this scene was somewhat real, as spartacus charged at crassus, and as he was about to strike, a spear struck his knee
Facts
Yep if not for his soldiers stepping in Spartacus kills Crassus, he had him defenseless on the ground at the end of his sword. Great show. This actor that replaced the Great Andy Whitfield did a very, very good job. RIP Andy, you brought spartacus to life!!
His is a story that has been repeated throughout history and will repeat itself until the end of man
Not gonna lie this only time I cried when a fictional person died in a movie

So many years after and it still breaks my heart 💔 I mean spartacus had won buh history has got to mess a damn good show for us.
Now imagine this scene with Andy. Uff. Damn, so sad he didn’t make it, he was born for this role. 😢
This scene, and the one with Glaber. The satisfaction that could've been felt... But oh well, Liam did a good job.
I truly only missed Andy for the final scene when he claims “That is not my name”, it’s closure for the story and Andy wasn’t there for it.

At the start of season 2, i was like, wtf is he ? like he not even close can take that role . But at the end i so faking loved him and it was very hard to watch him with 2 spears in his back.
1:12 hit me so hard. Actually had some hope they were going to vear off the true story path and spartacus would kill crassus
It's iron man
As an Iranian which is also fan of Crassus i wished at least they show Crassus fate in the hands of Parthians in Carrhae.
That Crassus signature move of grabbing the enemys sword 😬
Have the whole series on DVD. A show that stuck to the history we know. RIP Andy Whitfield
well, not 100% stuck to history they got some things wrong, and made liberties for the narrative of the show but over all, they did a far better job than most Hollywood history stories

the scene was amazing! both exosted of a long battle, but both know this was the momment they long been waiting for, the memories of his loses flashed on his eye, forced him to use all he has in his breathe and might, smashing his sword on crussus's mass of flesh and iron, was the best moment of the entire serie, i could feel the exostion and the anger in him which a real champion could have had in that momment, and immidiatly you get another flashback in your mind when crassus blocks the sword on the air, the same exact tactic which ended crassus's trainer. it shows the skills of the director.
Deberían seguir con esta serie con un hijo del buscando venganza oh algo muy buena serie pero el final daño todo
Es verdad pero técnicamente el murió en esta guerra tenía que tener ese final

Actually Spartacus was born rich and fought long with the Romans. Because of that he learned a lot about Military tactics and discipline and such. Then happened something and he found himself on the opposite side, was defeated and conducted in Italy as slave to fight as gladiator.. the rest is known... He was the big one of the 3rd slavery war 76-72 b.C. the last slavery uprising of the whole Roman history.
@@x_mau9355 the last and the one that eventually will lead Rome to its downfall.
@@federicorudolph949 well... 530 yrs later, 1480 yrs later assuming the date of death of the Eastern Roman Empire. But it changed much about the idea of slavery in the republic.
Someone says that what really destroyed the legacy of Rome has been the extension of the citizenship to all free ppl by Caracalla, which made Roman 30mln ppl overnight. Someone else instead say that Caracalla's decision is the blow-off top of the entire legacy, which began with Romulus making few ppl "citizens of the new born city of Rome"... However the slavery wars are important but not sooo important in the WHOLE history.
Much more important is the result of the things that the 3rd slavery war started. I mean Crassus and Pompey began that political/familiar/friendly relationship, which brought to the triumvirate with the rising-star Caesar. All began with the defeat of Spartacus.. otherwise Crassus would have never reached the same importance of Pompey in Rome.. as he was only rich, but Pompey was a general too.
