I was having charging issues with my Plus+ as plugging in the USB Cable didn't even light up the charging light. Thanks to your video showing how to open it up, it turns out the ribbon connecting the USB port to the battery was apparently loosened somehow. Simple enough to put it back and firmly lock the ribbon in place and I can charge up my Plus+ again!
Glad the battery is replaceable. Not spending $50 each time the damn battery craps out. The gotcha the batteries are garbage. You could get any where from 2-3 months if lucky to months. It is not coincidence that the battery craps out shortly after the return 30 day policy expires or shortly after the 1 yr extended warrenty. I've had enough of these to know it's intentional.
This was a great info for me: I dropped my son's into a cup of coffee (don't ask) and I needed a quick tutorial on how to actually open the thing! Without this video I'd have easily torn that ribbon 😅 Thanks again!
Hoping that they one day push out a firmware update that adds a vibration toggle to the software. I desoldered the positive motor wire from the main board rather than cut and covered it with a little electrical tape so that I can reconnect it if I'm ever compelled.
I done the same thing with 2 of them. One of them stoped working one day, would not charge or turn on. I soldered the wire back on to the main board, closed it up and sendt it in for a warenty check. I just recived a brand new one for free because og warenty so they did not catch that it was tempered with. I will ofc solder off the vibration from the new one to. Used it 2days with vibration and I'm sick of it.
Thank you so much for this. The vibrating is driving me nuts & must be such a drain on the battery. At least now I can stop it altogether as up to now the other suggestions were to remove the weight off the motor but your way seems so much simpler
This video was a big help in getting mine open! I accidently ran mine through the wash and hoped that replacing the battery would bring it back to life. It unfortunately did not, but at least now i know
The unit is split up into 6 components. Just about everything is connected by ribbon cables. The speaker and motor are soldered. The top board has a soldered wire and ribbon cable. The battery is not ribbon, but can be unplugged by grabbing the wire closer to the board and pulling up. To note,, the device can be modded to auto press the button by connecting motor pad negative to the battery test point on top board. That will use the pulsing signal from the negative pad to push the button when the motor is supposed to go and regularly push the button to prevent the device from going to sleep early during long sessions.
My device is stuck on the green light which is drastically draining the battery. How could I stop the leds from working without breaking the mechanics?
Mine got water damaged. It worked after drying, but accidentally took it into the sea again and now it doesn’t power up. The light did come on top but soon went off. Going to hopefully give it a good clean and replace the battery. Is the battery just a joycon one? I’m not sure if replacing the battery will help at all?
I recently accidentally washed mine and it went through the full cycle and mine worked after just a battery replacement. Yes just a joy con battery. Being saltwater though you might not get as lucky but let me know :)
I brought a replacement battery, but the main light keeps flashing red intermittently and doesn’t connect to my phone. I’ve cleaned the board and the ribbon cables, to nil effect. I think the white board needs replacing, but don’t know where to get a replacement
This is awesome! Thank you so much! I had 2 defective units, which were replaced because they were within the warranty period, but it made me wary for my 3rd unit. I had chucked the first one because I tried to pry it open and wasn't successful, but I kept the second one. I guess I should have done a search before I turfed #1! At least now, I can troubleshoot the 2nd one with this information and save the battery as a possible backup for the 3rd! I think there's a loose connection in the 2nd one, but I wasn't able to find it the first go-round.
I wonder if they have a way to push firmware updates to the device through the Pokémon GO app. This is a pretty great easy solution! But I want to have a vibration option. It would be fantastic if they could add a setting for it. I'll probably hold out for a while on doing this to see if they do add a setting.
Personally I found it annoying when my phone does it every catch or spin already so I just wanna put it in a pocket and forget about it until I have to pair it again but that’s just me. I hope they do exactly that for most so people aren’t going and voiding their warranties over an option that should have been there day 1.
Hey I have a problem with my plus plus. I forgot I left my ++ in my car which was hot, after that it fails to turn on, the LED that indicates how much battery it has is flashing red 2 times and it doesn't want to turn on even charging. The only way it does turn on it's when it's charging and I press the reset button but it turns back off in 30 seconds. Help
Mine kept flashing red without doing anything. I disconnected it from my apps and reconnected it so it is worth trying that just incase it’s somehow got a bit screwed up in the heat
Does the device have a microphone? As on Pokemon Sleep it has a section for "Noises" when it tracks your sleep, or do you think that's a future thing where they use your smartphone?
No, it states somewhere on the packaging that the device does not have a microphone. The option in Sleep is for users using their phones to monitor their sleep
@@keithkline207what happens if you don’t unplug the battery? I’m really really bad with electronics and I don’t think I know how to do all this. Can I just cut the red wire with a normal scissor while it being on?
My gotcha crapped out so I had no choice but to go to the new ++ version. God the vibrate is annoying. No damn way to turn it off. Annoying as hell. If the vibrate can be turned off I can I find it hilarious that on amazon people that buy this also buy a tool prying kit. I can not have gaming devices actively running at work so I basically can't use this on the floor unless I disable the vibrate wire. I'm honestly embarrassed to publicly play with this thing going off every few seconds in my pocket. It's so loud nothing works to conceal it. I've tried cases, wrapping it in towels and other tricks and it's still damn noticeable.
Been doing repairs for 13 years and making RUclips videos ZERO 😂 I wouldn’t have even done this but even I couldn’t find anything on disabling this annoying shit so something’s better than nothing.
I’ve done a lot of these now for people and haven’t had any issues except in one the battery wouldn’t charge after. Replaced it and then it worked again. Maybe worth a shot since the batteries are pretty cheap.

Same thing here. Any solution?@@Kevinyadiel-ew9ui
The battery which I thought looked familiar is the same HAC-006 battery that are in the switch joy con’s ;)
I wondered if that was the case!
Good to know! I just received one and the battery refuses to charge so I'll order one of the battery replacements.

I just wrapped the vibrator into electric tape without cutting any cables and it is silent without being altered.

My green light is staying on, any advice on how to fix that.

Me too. If they could make an update to disable vibrations and lights in the game I would immediately buy it.
Does anyone know the correct size of the switch to be used?
Does it helps with the super and great ball auto catch?
I’d better like to have an option of turning it on or off…
Build in switch

Thanks, i spilt coffee on mine had to open it up to clean it out.

Anyone share info hiw can i find this battery order in germany ?
The battery is the same that the joycons for Nintendo switch
Hi I accidentally washed my catcher in the washer, is it salvageable? Please let me know
I’m having the same issue, did you find a solution?
i cut the motor wires and now my go plus + has become super faulty rip
The wires might be shorted. Make sure the two vibration motor wires are not touching at the ends.

Can I cut the red wire to disable the vibration (as I don’t want it) with any scissors as I don’t have any non-conductive scissors
I would unplug the battery first if you don’t have any non conductive scissors just to be safe from a short.
