I think my biggest issue right now is how many paid tickets there are now. Legit every event has a paid aspect to it now which is super annoying. Events feel so boring now.
Paying for raid passes. They should be achievable within the game so you can grind them, then grind good pokemon, then grind the raids themselves. Also the free raid pass should stack if I didnt use it, so for example, I get 7 raid passes in 7 days and on Sunday go grind raids with friends. Its impossible to get together for raids every day.
I had pretty much stopped playing for a year or so and have recently gotten back into playing within the past year, but only casually. It used to be so much more fun to play but now it just feels like a constant cash grab with event after event and events within events. Half the time I don’t even bother with them anymore because the rewards are so chintzy compared to the work put into earning them. I’ll buy a few remote raids here and there to do some raids for legendaries I don’t have yet or want more candies for, but that’s about it.
But every paid ticket is an add-on. Nothing that was free originally has been taken away, other than the temporary pandemic remote raid passes. Those who want to spend can spend. I myself am a mostly f2p player except for major events (Go Fest/global Tour tickets), but I did buy the incubator ticket last month because it is such a good deal if you can spin a stop daily.
I really miss when literally everyone played Pokémon go in 2016, 2017 too. It was such a fun experience and I met so many new friends playing the game.
@@madnessarcade7447 the player base is dropping yearly the game was fun in the beginning. However the same raids over and over again doesn't help and the events are horrible
had cancer last year and a half, am the weakest I've ever been. Reinstalled the game and It really helps me get out and get walking with my kids. Totally helping me get healthy again, really should be marketed as a product that helps you get motivated to get walking and get out of the house. Sounds silly but the extra incentive really helps.
Get well soon hope you get the fastest recovery as I did after my scoliosis surgery and set the fastest recovery record for the hospital I went to lmao
Yes i agree. 2018 and 2019 were the 2 best years to play Pokemon Go. I remember the many raids done with friends and also the raids Ex organised. Beautiful moments I will never forget. It was also nice in the summer of 2016 as soon as the game was released... now the game is dead and I haven't played it for 2 years now, it's a shame that niantic hasn't managed to keep the players passionate but instead they just thought about make money...what a waste!
Totally agree. I miss the legendaries in weekly research plus everyone reuniting to do raids. Now unless you live a huge huge city, it will be really hard to find players for a raid and people in community events. Again, these used to be full. 2018-2019 was peak pokemon go.
I had an entire 50 people group chat raiding every single day full lobby. The game died the moment they raised raid passes price. Not one person ever posted a raid in the chat after. And it really sucks because I became great friends with some of them. And now just looking at the chat and all the fun times we had breaks my heart.
We once had over 60 people doing a Mewtwo raid in person. Now we're lucky to get 6 after covid. Most people I know started paying for spoofing services, and have since stopped as they've got all the shinies and rare mons now.
It still annoys me that they said they were nerfing remote raids to get people out. Remote raiding didn't stop me going out. But it did allow me to help my nephew take down raids he couldn't do on his own in a different city. It did allow me to do legendary raids with friends I don't live near, especially since I rarely see anyone in legendary raids near my home, work on the half hour walk between the two. It changed how I played for the better, and didn't mean I went out less. I probably go out less now, though, because it's just not as fun now, and that's on Niantic
Yeah like, right now there are many countries where winter has come so nobody wants to go out in the cold to do raids and it's relaxing to raid in the evening at home
And yet companies that sell their pokemon on these data farming sites are still allowed to get away with it. I get traded a ton of shinies on violet with data farming places (which you should not support) and why game freak or niantic won't crack down on them I don't know. It's against game rules to buy or sell data. yet they crack down on remote raiding because it doesn't encourage the game rules and people were farming. Niantic was "Oh, no we can't have people farming until they get shinies."
Completely agree with you. I started playing with my Son in 2020, we totally missed the pre pandemic community groups raiding and playing together. We loved the game by just trying to "catch em all". The desire to complete the Pokédex was so addictive. Wednesday raid nights were so good as we would grind for the rare high IV legendaries, knowing that we would then slowly power them up so they would improve our raid teams. Game friends that we will never meet, joined us in raid teams and you were invested in their progress and compare your level to theirs. My Son's reactions when he caught a shiny legendary will live with me forever. He learnt how to perfect excellent throws way before me. Together we learnt and shared information we found on you tube about future events and best counters. What a game, what a brilliant shared experience for Father & Son. Then they killed remote raids. Raid nights were no longer an event. Shadow legendaries are just impossible. My Son has now found new games that keep him interested. I being the compulsive idiot I am, had to get to Level 50. I managed it 2 days ago. I expected some joy, some sense of achievement, but instead it just feels like the end. There will be new Pokémon released and I will catch them for the Pokédex but I no longer care about it's IV's or it's meta relevance. The point was to build raid groups and then raid with similar minded people. Players you would become lucky with but never ever meet to use that bonus. Niantic killed that. A company who strives to encourage community and yet failed to understand the thriving community that they may have inadvertently created with remote raiding and failed to appreciate what they were "killing" by reverting to pre pandemic. Sorry for the rant, but a game I thoroughly enjoyed is now nothing more than a chore.
It’s a shame how Niantic killed so many moments to cherish like these, it just takes away everything when losing certain beautiful moments like those. I’m sorry for that but I have a tiny bit of hope that Niantic hears our calls and listens to our stories so they can do something to bring back the charm, the special feel of the game once more 😔
@@wawaurnicebum4934that isn’t the point Niantic is made them more expensive after the pandemic not dissuade players but to subsidize there bad decisions which get under my skin the most also notice how they are adding more money passes it’s because they simply want more money after all they removed the greatest incentive to play which gave them what they wanted profit but they have no problem create boring events to make the same money but they won’t after all since they don’t care about the community like that supposedly the reason it won’t be reverted is the creators or CEO’s change cause it doesn’t follow their vision such arrogance for people probably detached from the game themselves (sorry for the rant but honestly I don’t want them to recover not till they learn what community actually means people who are aware of that know not everyone can get out it’s shallow that they don’t know or don’t care)
Not for the good of you, but for the good of them lol. Just layman, influencers capitalizing off your favorite hobby. If the game isn’t good, people lose interest, then they lose revenue. It’s that simple. He clearly says it in the video. The majority are not your friends here to spread joy lol. This isn’t old RUclips where it was purely for the hobby.
The thing I hate is how you can not catch a lot of the Pokémon until the game lets you. There is like 7 or 8 pokemon that spawn for a week until the game gives you different spawns. It feels boring when you constantly see the same 7 Pokemon spawns and that is why I quit.
I raided with a small group of friends across the country. When they nerfed raids, if killed our ability to raid together and I completely stopped playing as a result
I don't think this is negative; I think it's just being real and honest. That's important for them to hear and I appreciate you vocalizing it because they will likely hear your voice due to you being an influencer. It's hard being a long-time fan of the game, feeling frustrated, and having ideas to help fix the game, but knowing they will never hear us because we don't have the platform to say something. You do, and you're being a great voice for all of us. Thank you!
For me its the money grab. 1350 USD to get a elite TM when there is a community day. Brought their Pokemon Go+plus, it doesn't work half the time. For example had community hour and wouldn't catch shit. Exited the app, turn device on and off, tried to update location. Pokemon Go PvP is still a laggy piece of shit. The algorithm is terrible. The game always miss counts my taps. My absolute favorite part about pokemon go is when you spend the last two years finally getting the perfect high def and high hp pvp pokemon just for them to make a community day or they make the pokemon more regular available in spawns I don't think yall understand how much money I spent grinding to get meditite xl candies. This happened with medichan, carbink, quasire, and etc
I recently came back to the game last year November after I wanted to find something to play after I got bored of other games. PokémonGo was really fun when I came back to the game but I’m pretty sure I joined the game during the downfall. I still play quite actively but starting to get less motivated to go out and grind. Now I’m not sure if I should still play or move on to a new game. I really hope one day Niantic will hear us!
you people, some feature should not open to the public to begin with. its like a pandora box. During the pademic( special circumstances) they accidentally open that box.after the pademic, of course it should be taken away. and let everything back to normal. just like allowing people to buy guns in the first place. and now there is no way to reverse that decision, and led to mass shooting and stuff. appreciate the generosity during the pademic, and not to blame they for taking back the feature
@@li25892000 there is some truth in what you’re saying… giving us the ability to still raid from home during the pandemic was literally a move from them to continue to make money since they were going to severely lose it since no one was allowed outside… There was a lot of benefits to it though. People who were not able to really go out in the first place can Al play the game as well? It also makes peoples lives easier since they can multitask and do things without having a time out their day to go participate in raids! You can literally be at work, maybe chilling with the fam, Or multitasking, while maybe knocking out a raid or two… once they took it away AND made it where you can’t buy more than five passes really put a damper on a lot of things. the company has shown that they don’t care about sales dropping. It’s all about quality. The game for them has outperformed and brought in more money than they ever thought so extra as a bonus for them. If the game run itself into the ground because of their decisions they have stated they’re OK with that, they do not care if the game is no longer successful anymore. They strongly standby or decisions because it’s what they believe the game should be. Not what the consumer think the game should be.. .. They’re going to continue to do them and if it leads to the game being discontinued, I think they’re perfectly fine with that unfortunately
I think it is negative cause it feels this past half year Niantic is digging there own grave with everything that happend with the bans for following there rules on their own news features and saying they only care for a small group is the big community they have and other stuff that is adding up its just frustrating and the december timed research that you now have to pay for when it was free last year tells me there not going to take care of the issues most of the people have with this game
For me it’s not the grinding that I find fun. It’s playing with my friends. Whether that’s raiding, or playing events, I just love the social aspect of the game. I don’t tend to go out grinding that much on my own, but I get together with friends on weekends just to have fun playing together and hanging out. That’s the part I enjoy most. But I do agree that it has lost some of the magic with events becoming less interesting and new features consistently not being as good as I wish they were.
i aggree! before like 2021/22 i would be wandering around my area on Comdays getting shinies and overall having fun getting them, but come 2023 i started going to a nearby town to play with some friends and it really made my experience so much better even though i only go out for Comdays/raid days and Go fest/tour global! This has really helped my raiding experience more as i would barely do them yet ive gotten a few shadow pokemon (none are shiny which is no surprise as i get like no raid shinies but idc honestly i accept it now lol) its really helped my experience get better
Seems random, the first 7 routes I've done I got 7 cells (complete 5 different routes, and 2 last cells where I was taking 2 previous routes again) but after that, up to 8th,9th, maybe 10th...after complete I didn't get any cells (they're same routes from previous week, not new though) Maybe, it doesn't reward cells when you took the same route over and over again or more than twice in short time(? it's week apart though, not like everyday 'coz I don't do route much), idk... But 12 different routes with 4 cells sounds super buggy.
One thing also worth mentioning is the monetization of every single event. It used to be a super uncommon thing mostly reserved for go fest, but now it's every event and often the main pokemon in events are locked behind paywalls. Every event used to have a collection badge and/or a timed research and now timed research is just subbed out for paid research, makes every event way worse.
For real, there is very little research that you don't have to pay for anymore! I just recently came back to the game and am super bummed to have missed all the past free research events
That's them scrambling to try to make up for the massive 600 million loss (roughly) they are getting hit with this year. And it's not working. They are hemorrhaging big time for nerfing remote raiding. I'm really surprised how awfully stubborn they are in not reversing course and undo the mistakes they've made. It's really freaking strange, actually. I can't possibly imagine their stakeholders would be okay with loosing around a half billion dollars and then be okay with keeping the mistakes that created the loss. Unless there is some other kind of agenda at play here. Edit: this level of mistake usually gets CEOs/directors/managers/etc fired and yet people like Hanke are still there. Makes ya scratch yer head.
To be honest it's the monetization of the entire thing that really pissed me off. It made raids for me unplayable the moment I couldn't do them remotely. And so, I stopped.
which Pokemon in events are locked behind the paid research? i noticed you didn't list any and the past 10 ive done didn't have any exclusives either, ive always played free and never felt left out for a ticket that offers "more of the same encounters" , incubators or just a pool of stardust, honestly no idea what you're talking about in terms of mons locked behind the tickets
You know they won't. They still haven't fixed tons of bugs and glitches that have been in the game since the beginning. Recently players have been complaining about buying items from their in game store and not getting the item after the purchase. Yet because it's a phone purchase it's all sales are final thus no refunds. So they've been basically scamming players out of money.
@@hudsonfrank1121WOW. I can attest to this happening to me personally! I paid $12.99 CAD and was charged that as well as $6.99 and another $6.99!!! Two sets of random pokecoins I didn’t ask for… I had to go to Apple directly to have it refunded. That’s shady
Not of it comes at the price of turning the original concept of Pokémon Go upside down and make it from a real world activity game about interacting and catching Pokémon in the real world into a normal videogame.
Spot on. People were raiding like crazy. Then they decided to kill remote raids and now it's dead as can be in the local chats. It's been a huge bummer.
Yeah. It was. People liked the new style of play better. Is the important thing pleasing your fan base or fulfilling the publisher's mission statement? Nothing about remote raids precluded anyone from getting out. But their changes DEFINITELY killed raids. I don't see more people raiding in the wild since they made the change. Just less people raiding.
@@clobberintime27 it killed the local community side of the game. Once remote raids were bought in couldn’t find anyone to raid in person with. Sitting on the couch raiding isn’t “go” Play console games for that experience
I would argue that the local raid community was not really thriving anyway. I know it wasn't in my area. Also, this gave rural players like me a fair chance of playing. Without driving a half an hour to hope to find a raid. But again, if you feel like remote raids did killed the local community, it should have bounced back now, right? Because that sure isn't the case around where I live. I am in 6 local raid chats and rarely see anyone coordinating raids, or really, engaging much in any way at all.
@@clobberintime27 I think there also the element of people played the game and are looking for the cool new thing and have simply moved on from the game regardless of what new feature they bring in. But I do get what you are saying the the rural players
I started Pokemon GO right when the pandemic started. I made an online group of friends where we all do remote raids and had fun getting the legendaries. Ever since the changes made in 2023, the majority of my group quit playing. Despite me living just a few miles from a city, whatever local groups I searched for were dead and I don't even see people playing in person, so I had zero reason to keep playing. People keep saying that you're supposed to go outside to play, but what's the point when A) the weather gets really crappy for days at a time and B) there's no one nearby to play?
I used to play in 2016 and there were so many people to play with. 4 years later I played again during the pandemic and honestly had a lot of fun, remote raiding was fun. Now 4 years later I'm back again and there's just not much to do. I keep going outside in my neighbourhood but there's literally only the same people taking gyms and nobody to really raid with. The only raids I can do are 1 star raids because there's simply nobody to join me.
PokeDaxi had a great video when this change first started rolling out (reverting to pre-pandemic gameplay) that featured a lot of disabled, rural, and otherwise home-bound players who could play the game for the first time when the pandemic changes were made. The features that encourage getting out and about could have been incentivized without penalizing players who (for example) had never had the opportunity to do any legendary raids before remote raids were added.
For rural players its just straight up an awful game. Remove gyms and stops and like... what do you do? I'm not driving somewhere to play a pokemon game. I'll simply play something else.
For me, the biggest problem is the limited pool of pokemon we have. In 2016, you could find almost all 150 pokemon in your zone (the only ones you couldn't find were the regionals) You had always have a different pokemon on screen (yes. half were rattatas or ekans, but the other half were interesting stuff like an evolution or a rare pokemon) Nowadays, we are always in some event and the only pokemon that appears are the same 5-6 featured pokemon of the event. For example, when was the last time someone saw a Pinsir? I wish they released the entire gen 1 in a permanent pool and the featured pokemon of the event be added above it. For example, if 5 pokemon spawned in a cell, in an event it would spawn the 5 plus 1-2 of the event
that’s my issue . Have all these event but some of the spawns are the same spawns been in wild for months . Need to roatate them and not keep some in spawn pool for a yr straight .
For real, it's so oversaturated with the same like 5-7 pokemon or maybe a dozen different pkm you encountered at any point you go out to play. And it decrease to like 1 main with 3-4 poorly repeated pkm when it's community day or spotlight hours. There should be 30-50 or 100 different pkm in daily for player who get out. It's so boring with or without community days, spotlight hours.
Every aspect of the game being monetized to the teeth is a game killer. The way they released Mega Raids was the final straw for me, but nerfing raids and remote passes while raising the price at the same time just made me shake my head.
The first thing that come to my mind when I read "Why is Pokémon GO dead" is: no option for mass-evolution, no option for mass-gift-opening, no option for mass-gift-sending, only 50 coins a day... plus when you fight an arena and put a pokémon in it, chances are that you will lose it within the next 10 minutes. Which means no coins. Which means you just wasted 10 minutes of your life. The game lacks quality of life!
I think you've covered most of the issues i have. I'll also add that some of the boxes offered in the shop are so bad that it feels like an act of trolling / cruelty. For me, Niantic shows no real respect for its players, and this mirrors back at them
I think a good way to incentivise people to play more would be to add legendaries back to the research breakthrough, as i remember i played every day just to get those free legendaries. I can see them making it random which legendaries you get, with the best ones like rayquaza, dialga etc being lower odds(to avoid them being easily accessible to all). This would make a good reason to log in every day, meaning more active players. They could also add in a system to trade with players globally, allowing for users to get Pokémon of a similar level/rarety of ones they put in. For example, i have loads of shinies from com days that are bad IV’S but i can’t bring myself to transfer them. There are loads of ways Niantic can bring vast amounts of popularity back to Pokémon go, but they won’t for one reason. It’s not profitable to hand out strong Pokémon, as no-one will want to raid to get more.
What also sucks to is they lowered legendary odds in battle leauge I used to get some often now I've only encountered like 1 this season and I'm rank 20
glad to see that an upbeat creator like yourself can still tell the community (and the devs) like it is. it's not doomer, it's out of passion for our favorite things. and they can't address our issues if they don't know we have them. squeaky wheel gets the grease!
@@Bozekihe’s pointing out all of the things that have made pokémon worst over the years. it’s not his fault niantic is ruining the game update by update
Pretty good video. My biggest issue is that niantic is just too afraid to give players good things to play for. You can't do field research to get weekly legendaries anymore, you can't find rare pokemon most of the time due to awful event spawns every week, etc. And the good/exciting pokemon you can get need elite TMs and 200+ XL anways that you barely get as f2p. If it wasn't for PvP, there would be almost no reason for me to even play anymore.
I imagine most hardcore players, after 4-7 years feel this way. There's nothing left for them to do. I'll eventually get to that point I'm sure, but it's not dead for me since I came back only this April (didn't play late 2016).
Not really, he got to this point by playing all day everyday. I'm over the super hard-core player talking like this and thinks he's talking for the whole community when really it's 95% of the game are casuals who are still having fun everytime they open the game
ive been playing since 2016, off and on really the past two years but this is why i quit. Hopefully it gets better but i know ill always come back to playing with new pokemon
@@naaga7932 the thing is 5% of players are responsible for 99% of niantic's money and you are not part of it so you are irrelevant while hard core players are important. It is important for niantic to take care of their most invested players cause at the end of the day, they are the ones who get people back on the game, and the ones who buy lots of pokecoins and stuff every event. Sorry to tell you but if you arent a hard core player or a heavy buyer you are not important at all and your opinion is irrelevant in terms of niantic money makers
@@naaga7932bro that’s facts. These people drop $100000k into their accounts and spend all day every single day playing and cry when they run out of stuff to do and nothing is cool cause they have it all already
There should be a global and local ranking in terms of catches or XP so people get motivated. Just like other mobile games where you can see your rank. Also the biggest issue was remote raiding. I got most of my legendaries during the pandemic ‘cause of how cheap remote raids were. I don’t know why niantic is so afraid to revert it back. Are they afraid no one goes outside anymore? Lol there will always be players outside
What an excellent, well thought out vid. Timing is very relevant for me, I’ve not opened the game in almost a month, because I’m just… bored. And I also link it to the impact the raid nerf had in destabilising my goals and motives to play, combined with very lacklustre events and features. It feels like the game pictures us all as a huge squad ready to drop our real lives at every free moment and that’s not how I am able (nor willing) to play.
Used to be an active pokemon go player, but now I'm into Pokemon Sleep lol. The good thing about sleep is that you can't really speed through things because you can't just do a month's worth of sleep in one night. You look forward to mornings more because of what you might catch, and the spawns get better the better your sleep is.
I found sleep really frustrating. I work nights, have a partner and roll in my sleep. So the game constantly tells me I've not slept at all. I got the device for it too but its massive, and it's so easy to knock off the bed, (clip is useless, maybe good for children and not 200lb adult males), or hit the button and it stop tracking progress. It doesn't record sounds either, which was really disappointing.
Hit the nail on the head. All I had was gen one pokemon for raids. The fact that I could remote raid with folks all over the world and actually have a chance was my whole motivation to grind again for better pokemon. Pandemic play may not have gotten people out to play, BUT, like you said, it got people together globally via the internet. Biggest mistake they could have ever made. I haven't played in months.
Obviously, they need to un-nerf remote raids (cut the daily cap at least), and they should give out a 100% remote raid pass in the weekly field research box rewards. Party does feel underwhelming, but I take it the idea is to not make it essential. I'd like to see more bonuses, maybe it needs a "signature pokemon" like Vivillion is for the Post Cards. Routes feels better, but again introducing a signature pokemon would help out a lot. In addition to Zygarde cells... maybe you get an option to catch wild Zygardes on occasion? I'd also like to see a refresh of the nest feature; weekly rotation, a limited "event" pool associated with each event, and maybe something to help them stand out w/o being too powerful - 2 charge moves from the wild seems to make the most sense.
I would love to be able to sometimes catch wild zygardes since mine is trash and it seems like there is no hope of ever getting another without mirror trading. I think thats a REALLY good idea to add them randomly to ocassionally pop up in routes
The main reason why I don't play as much right now is that it's freezing cold, snow and winter where I live - 20°C (0°F) 🥶 so after being out playing for 5 min you have ice cold hands. Dark around 3:30 pm. Playing on my way home from work. Maybe max an hour a day.
Remote raid price hike killed this game for me and for a lot of people I played with. Nobody in my city gets together for raids anymore but remote raids allowed everyone to drop in and whenever and wherever. Now that they nerfed them, lots of people I played with dropped the game and raiding for legendaries is impossible
Maybe if they increased the daily battle limit and/or stardust rewards more people would PVP. Main thing is they need to fix gyms; giving coins only when your pokemon gets knocked out incentivizes people to just abandon them, in stead of feeding berries to keep motivation up, trying to have enough return every day to earn the max. They need to give people an incentive to actually try to take and hold gyms by making the time your pokemon are defending a gym earn pokecoins daily, not just when they get knocked out.
My issue with PvP is it takes forever to rank up. You've got to win about 180 battles to reach rank 20. I played 54 battles this season and won 46 of them. It's so boring just being constantly matched with noobs, but I'd have to put aside like 10hours to reach a rank were people actually have a clue, and I can have fun.
One beef I've long had with the game is the interface around gyms. It's too many clicks to spin a gym, which is the main reason I click on them 9/10 times. The spin disk should be front and center when you click and any raid happening, shadow or otherwise, absolutely SHOULD NOT pop up with the animation first. Raids and gym battles should be separate click features you can open with buttons, but the spin should be front and center. Also, you should be able to do raid battles whenever you want, and not have them be interrupted/rendered unavailable by the raids. On a related note, I freaking HATE getting bombarded with text, and slowed down, by the Shadow grunts and leaders. By all means, visually show them there and have the stops in black, but actually accessing/being spoken to by Team Shadow should be a separate click you can do from the stop. 99% of the time, I just wanna spin the frickin stop as quick as possible and be on my way. I don't want to have click through all the other nonsense and wait for the animations.
Every feature from remote raids, weekly breakthrough box, events, community days have got worse. Another big issue for me is they drip feed new pokemon now instead of dropping gens as they are worried about having no content but people are leaving due to no content. Half of the new pokemon also have to be caught via raid or egg now as well instead catching. Wild spawns have been off since they brought in the weather feature. 99% of the time the same crap like skitty pidgey etc are spawning and you never see a rarer pokemon like a Snorlax you may want in a shiny. Go PalWorld !
MY biggest love for the game is how easy it is to pick up and drop and not feel I've missed too much. However when they limit daily interactions it makes it difficult to feel motivated to do much. I'd love to see more dailies to work towards, maybe even overhaul the stamp system for a daily, weekly and monthly goal area. Nothing too hard or demanding since I love not playing every day but something to encourage play.
I really appreciate you taking time to make this video because it directly reflects what I’ve been trying to say since the remote raid nerf and price increase. It felt when they announced it and since that they just lost sight of what the player base actually was asking for. It’s felt like they have a misperception of what the remote raid and global community of Pokémon Go brought to the game. I really hope they see this and hear the facts that you lay out concisely. I used to have friends that we’d go out and shiny hunt events and grind raids for new and better Pokémon, but those friends have quit and there’s just not the strong local community that we had prior to the pandemic and even during with the amazing features. They want people to get outside and explore but most their features and efforts seem to reflect the opposite of that. PVP, I’m not out exploring when I play it. I’m at home, on my couch, eating pizza. With raids, I was out driving around town to help coordinate raids with friends on the opposite side of town so we could efficiently raid bosses. Anyhow basically, I completely agree with you and appreciate your honesty!
I used to have friends that we’d go out and shiny hunt events and grind raids for new and better Pokémon most raids have the same 10 mons in a pool wdym sounds like your friends just lost interest none of what you said correlates to remote raids
The biggest change for me in the last year, along with I'm sure many other people, has been raids. I tried my best on the Masterball research...and in 3 months, I easily completed every other task but only managed 27 raids. I could have done 60. I had a bunch of green passes stacked up from previous research, I could have made more effort to go out and raid more often. Campfire makes that so much easier than it used to be just driving around and hoping or watching discord for announcements from others. But still. I fell short because my lifestyle has changed enough within the time since the remote raids nerf that raiding is no longer a priority, and trying to force it was just dismal. Maybe it was partially because of other factors in my life, but the end result is still that I couldn't make it a priority even though at the beginning I was determined to do so. I think the core issue of how Niantic treats the player base is that even when they do listen to us, it feels like too little too late or not enough. Like they could have added Campfire several years ago back when everyone was super into raiding, which would have been a massive boost to the communities. Instead, we now have a feature to help us raid and it seems like many communities struggle to pull players together even with the assistance, because Niantic straight up alienated some folks to the point that they left the game and the communities have moved on with their lives. Niantic claims they want people to get outside and play together, but because of how much distrust there has been surrounding the rollback of pandemic features, and the half-hearted attempts they've made at re-engaging the community, they're doing a rather poor job of both meeting their own goals and giving the player base what we actually want. Personally, I'm fine with continuing to play the game casually as I have been for a long time. Rarely giving them any money. Interacting with the features that I enjoy and ignoring those that I don't (except for when they're required for pokedex or level up reasons etc.) Despite all the controversies Niantic has been through, I still believe when the game does actually meet its end, it's going out with a whimper and not with a bang. It'll get to the point where the daily user count is low enough that it'll be closed down quietly. Maybe not for a few more years, especially if they can salvage some interest with bigger features or quality of life improvements. And if they don't continue actively alienating large swaths of their audience.
you had 91 days to do raids and you made it to less than 1/3, I constantly see people complain about the remote raid nerf, so when are you actually playing cause you all sound like homebodies who never leave the house, there are plenty of times throughout the day you can raid or catch mons, saying people who barely ever play should get bonuses or supported more makes absolutely no sense, play the game more
@@TheTctoocold and you sound like an unemployed bum with no family at home? All that free time on your hands is unrealistic for most people. What about the disabled community that was completely shafted? Killing remote raids didn't bring people back raiding in person, it just made people uninstall the game and thus making it even harder for in game raiders, particularly in rural areas. As Mystic said in this video, the game was better with a Global community rather than fragmented local communities.
@TheTctoocold this is true. I can only assume these people live in like Rural USA, where there's literally nothing noteworthy for miles on end. I live in a small town, but I'm in the UK, so we've got like 10 gyms within 10 miles, so raiding is really easy.
I want a feature where if your Pokemon has been in a gym for the max time to get 50 coins, another person from the same team can request to "tag in" with your Pokemon if the gym is already full. That way, you get your poke coins, they get a chance to get theirs.
@@dorjjodvobatkhuu6457 what likely happened is that you got another Pokemon in a gym knocked out first that came back with only 7, then your Bulbasaur came back with the remaining 43 for that day
For me it died after being my main game for years is because there are 0 pokestops between my house and work and I don’t want to go grind downtown anymore because it isn’t safe. If I could get enough pokeballs to play at home I would. I can’t play at work since I work on a military base.
I used to love raiding and it was the main reason why I played. I made new friends and met people on discord due to the amount of servers that had raiding coordinating features. After they nerfed it all those raiding servers were DEAD and I had to resort to shiny hunting to find entertainment in the game. I just wish they brought back raiding to grind instead of shiny hunting Pokémon that I hardly care about
I recently started pokemon go, and im still really excited to grind. I think it will be fun for me for the next few years. All i wanna do is get more pokecoins so that i have space for new pokemon, including shinies. So far I have one :)
Since I installed it before its release here in the UK, I had been playing Pokemon Go constantly as a means to avoid human interaction due to my anxiety. Despite that, I have also travelled with my Go Buddy in order to get involved with events that are not possible to do at my location. As of late, while its a anxiety killer, I also made it into a game to grind pokemon of the lowest possible level for Pokemon Home for a side project I call a Minimalist Dex.
One thing I noticed is that the environment and almost even the weather doesn’t change the Pokémon. My son is 8 almost 9, so he doesn’t care about all the raids and stuff. He just wants to play Pokémon with mom and dad. I took him out to the lake in December 2023 that’s about 9 miles from our house. I literally paid 20$ just for the entry because we both wanted water Pokémon. All we found were the same exact Pokémon we have at our house, which were just the featured Pokémon. That really makes it less fun and doesn’t seem to jive with what Niantic’s purpose is. I do remote raids a bit but my son is losing interest because he just wants to pretend he’s doing Pokémon in real life. I feel like people forget that Pokémon is really for the kids. For the rest of us it’s mostly nostalgia. Let’s get back to making it about having a Pokémon experience and make it more realistic.
I think shadow raids are my biggest problem as I live in a rural area and have never done a tier four or five shadow raid because have never seen more than one person at them, that also brings the same issue with routes and party play. There are no routes near me and when you have to drive to each poke stop party play is a bit of a bust
Niantic literally went "we would rather spend billions to develop extra stuff nobody likes to try and scrape up new players rather than un-nerf remote raids"
The way you ended this video was spot on. Many of us are so deeply invested-emotionally, financially, physically-that there’s no way we’re giving up. Thank you for this.
Pokémon go is always going to dry out because of the fact that you have to go outside and play. The only way to revive is to add a way to play from home, but they will never do that because it will just be another Pokémon game. So the solution? Buy a console and play real Pokémon, you won’t care about Pokémon Go anymore.
Hoping they increase the level cap. Since hitting level 50, I miss having a grind. We get handed everything on a plate these days, I want something to work towards.
@@Bozeki if the changes in question either does nothing or negatively impacts the player experience as a whole then why would people not be bothered by the change? And people loved the stay at home changes for the pandemic so I feel like your point of saying people hate change in general doesn't hold much water here?
@@Bozeki "you guys just hate change" have you ever wondered why they hated the change? Maybe because it either ruins the game, or does nothing impactful or fun at all. They give no reason to play the game lol. Especially since every event has nearly the same wild pokemon spawns every time. As if they don't have over 1000 pokemon to choose from.
Yeah, I am tired of seeing the same boring Pokémon around me outside of events... I joined a discord where a bot posts pokemon spawns around the US and you can see their stats and that literally makes me drool so I decided to tap into spoofing
Online Games don’t last forever. So you never know they could cut it down in the future 10 years from now. I played an RPG game . Had over 1000 hours in 6 years and they ended the servers with a brand new RPG game. So you never know .
Last weekend when we had the raids for Husain samarot, my old raid group actually got together and did a bunch of the raids together. It felt wonderful to all be back together again. Usually with these events it’s only my partner and myself going out and doing them. That’s the first time I’ve been excited playing Pokemon go for a long time.
What you said at the end is what I'm afraid Niantic is leaning on, they think people are so invested they won't quit. They're in for rude awakening if they think that's the case, because people are already quitting!
Last September when they released the new Paldea pokemon, I really played a lot. It was just so exciting to get new Pokemon and grind for that shiny Lechonk. Since then the game has just been a little bit boring, I’ve mainly just done pvp recently. I hope niantic could do something else than just have every event be related to Routes or Parties.
When you could raid with friends all over the world, the game was fun, because, not everyone lives in town, including me, i live in village, had here like 2 pokestops and thats all. Thats why it was good to be able to raid accross the world yk. Also 1 other thing...just now, its been a month when i suggested a route over here and its still hasnt been approved, how is that possible man. Current state of the game is just being passivly on your phone and doing nothing, its nowhere near fun...
When they bring unlimited raids back and all day community days instead of 3 hours of crap I’ll come back until then you don’t my money or time niantic. I unsubscribed all Pokémon go RUclipsrs except you because your the only one I see being real and honest about Pokémon go issues and thank you for that.
I would add that I frequently use the Party Challenge feature to get the increased damage to raid bosses. The rewards are not an incentive for me but raid damage is.
People are forgetting that Pokèmon Go’s incentives of being an app is to collect data and map out the world. If you really think about it remote raids stopped player from going out and collecting that data. All the new features they are adding are more incentives to go out and collect more data. It’s clear as day and I don’t see why nobody else see’s this as their intention. Just think about it.
Everyone else knows this too, but remote raids enables people to go out and invite people to the raids they have no one else to do them with. Killing remote raiding killed people going out. There was no reason to destroy remoting before launching all the other features - except for them all being so poorly implemented.
Even if I was a bit annoyed by all the "pogo is dead" tweets lately, this was a geat video buddy! 💪 Good message at the and! The game does and will never die but we need more big features to grind for in my opinion.
I think it’s absolutely dumb that you need stardust to simply trade with your friend. Trading was the cornerstone of the games and now you have to pay to do that.
You must mean trading was a cornerstone in the main series? Bc I started playing in 2018 right before friendship and trading was added. And I was so new I didn't even know what stardust was, and burned a lot of it on trading (and I didn't even know what IVs were, so likely traded some good ones!)
It's easy to point at the problems, but other than the obvious bring back the 2020 Bonuses and reduce the remote raid pass price, What events would actually be compelling? Raid wise we already got best in type for a number of types, and they almost need to painfully slow on pokemon releases to just not run out of pokemon.
Thank you for being your honest self. I really judge the game based on my experience, but also based on the vibe of the content creators (mainly you & Dax & Zoey) and there is still hope…it just feels bad cause this bad luck string has been a long one…but Pokemon Company won’t let this game fail.
As someone who fell off Pokémon go, and has fallen back in love with it returning this August with a hiatus from 2016. It’s been so much fun catching up on all the brand new additions, bonding over pokemon with my friends who have continued to play and some friends I’ve motivated to start playing through my enthusiasm. It’s taken over my life, and as a relapsed player, or a brand new player, I think there’s plenty to be happy about.
I agree, honestly the comments of complaints all reek of fat obesity and not leaving the house, there is no logic to be found in any of the complaints "man we used to raid and leave the house all the time during covid then they removed the free remote raid passes" so how does remote raiding make you go out more and how does it not being in the game make you raid less like jfc so many players here who sound like they've never left the house or activated a daily incense/route in their life
Me and gf have recently got back into the game for a couple months now. My friends are all getting jealous and are slowing starting to re install and play again too. I feel like a resurgence could come on with the right event
@@ThisOffendsMeTV I mean, it is his job. His job is to literally play Pokemon Go. But even for me, some random dude that plays regularly for fun, it' gets boring very fast. Every event has the same wild spawns, or nearly the same. Like they have over 1000 pokemon to choose from, but keep picking the same ones. There's over 800 in Go right now. Every event also has a paid ticket now, you used to be able to get a free timed research, or special research. Only the really big events had a paid research like Go Fest, but now every little event has a paid ticket. And the rewards are super mid as well. Like this free timed research we got for the new routes update. You got encounters with Wooloo and pawmi that can't be shiny, and I think one encounter with hisuian sneasel. They just released his shiny but can only get him through eggs. which is super annoying to grind, since you can't get rid of eggs. And you get one incubator and have to buy some if you want to clear your egg bag. If you don't buy any, you'd have to walk for hours.
I think the best solution would be for Niantic to get a new creative director and technical director. Its obvious the current ppl at the top do not know what they are doing, so fresh eyes can only be a good thing. By employing new ppl at the top, the company is also in an easy position to fix bad decisions that were made in the past like the remote raids nerfs. A revamp of gyms might also be a good thing...not sure what to do here, but I'm sure some ppl will have ideas.
It doesn’t feel dead to me, in my area we have a decent size community of trainers that do raids, gyms, and all events together. Definitely not as active as it was in 2016-17 but definitely not dead.
Watching this makes me sad. Pogo was so good i was playing it like crazy last year before the remote raid update. Then it just died. And i live in a big city with easy access to raids. But it just isn't the same. You summed it up perfectly man. Its really sad and i hope they fix this game before the weather warms up again cause i wanna get back into it😭😭
We hardly ever see anyone raiding in person anymore. There are like 3 of us in town that actively play. I send invites for raids to get help and hardly anyone with their "online" status on actually joins. Several years ago, on any community day, there were hundreds of people on the local college campus walking. Now I may see 10. It's pretty sad.
There's no Grind to Grind. If you're Grinding make sure that your Grind is Ground. Having said that Grinding is just fundamentally less appealing to Grind, unless you are Grinding for the sake of the Grind............... GRIND!
I started watching you when I played Pokemon Go. You were the first Pokemon Go youtuber I watched. I remember watching you videos everyday to become motivated and go grind myself. This was during Covid and I loved it . With every event I got hyped thanks to your vids and when I was done with the event I would watch your vids to see what you got. This was during a low time in my life and thanks to Pokemon Go and you I got out again but now it feels dead... where there was a community in the past seems to now have disappeared. Only the true ones are still here. With the nerve of remote raids I cant do lots of raids anymore cause i dont have a group to do it with. I miss the good old days. But you were the one making me love it. And I still love your vids. You're entertaining and fun and informative. Thanks for trying to keep us playing and going out. ❤
Just came back after a 2 year break so it's still fresh and fun for me, but I definitely don't have as many people to play with anymore. Would love to see your ideas on what could make the game better though!
I played Pokemon GO since release. My account was made in 7/15/2016. In my opinion? Pokemon GO is boring. It's a sandbox game. There's no story and too few features. You can't trade with friends who are further than 10 feet from you (despite NDS games allowing you to use the GTS and trade with people from all over the world). Rewards stuck. Battles are boring and non- immersive. The only care I had for the game was playing with my wife, who got banned for seemingly no reason. We moved feel Utah to Montana due to the military, and as soon as we settled in our new home, her account was banned the first month we moved. We never got clarity as to why. She never used 3rd party apps (she used Apple, I'm the one with Android). We'd always go to the park nearby to play since the town we live in is kinda boring. Anyway, yeah, she got banned. Perma banned. She had been playing just as long as I had and was only level 37. She tried to appeal the ban but got either automated responses or vague responses, basically saying she is banned and there's nothing they can/will do to fix it. We had so many memories together. She got her first shiny legendary off a raid with me, and that was so memorable. I don't play GO anymore since they punished her for no reason. I'm sure if i dangled a $20 bill in front of support, they'd fix it. Boring company (Niantic) that just cares about money. You'll get a better Pokémon experience playing any GBC/GBA/NDS/3DS/Switch game than wasting your money on GO.
A main complaint I have is location based events. La getting access to the sinnoh event earlier than the rest of the world just feels disrespectful, especially as someone getting back into the game. Feels like I'm punished for living in rural Australia where it's currently 44°C every day and I can't get out to play as much.
PvP would be close to unplayable like this. I think it would be enough to change the system with the TMs and just let your pokemon "re"-learn any attack they already learned once.
@@crobinson2624 but not without using an item which for a few months now has become more and more difficult to obtain. I mean that it should be possible to basically switch for free within a pool moves that a specific pokemon learned once. For example if my clodsire runs earthquake and sludge bomb and for some reason I want it to learn stone edge and remove earthquake, I would like to not have to use another TM to teach it earthquake again (idk if that's the correct move names, I play in another language). I play PvP a lot and of pokemon could learn two fast moves or three charge moves it would become extremely difficult to hard wall some mons and some mons would be able go run a moveset that would make them extremely versatile (mew for example, as it learns so many different moves).
@@Nomanomayæy ya but that’s Niantic’s profit motive. Niantic isn’t just going to allow you do something like have access to all your moves without charging you a dollar to do it.
@@crobinson2624 they sure won't. It's just the only solution I can think of to get close to what this thread started with - having access to more moves. Because as I said a second fast move or third charge move will not work, at least not in PvP.
I think my biggest issue right now is how many paid tickets there are now. Legit every event has a paid aspect to it now which is super annoying. Events feel so boring now.
That’s to try and recoup the falling $ from lack of purchasing of raid tickets

2019 was the best time to play. You missed that we used to get legendaries from the weekly research, which made it worth it
Yes i agree.
Yeah dude - the box is literally pointless now
90% of my local community stopped playing in 2019 because of Covid.
@@GangsterFrankensteinComputer covid lock downs happened in 2020 though
Totally agree. I miss the legendaries in weekly research plus everyone reuniting to do raids. Now unless you live a huge huge city, it will be really hard to find players for a raid and people in community events. Again, these used to be full. 2018-2019 was peak pokemon go.
I had an entire 50 people group chat raiding every single day full lobby. The game died the moment they raised raid passes price. Not one person ever posted a raid in the chat after. And it really sucks because I became great friends with some of them. And now just looking at the chat and all the fun times we had breaks my heart.
That is one heartbreaking story
We once had over 60 people doing a Mewtwo raid in person. Now we're lucky to get 6 after covid. Most people I know started paying for spoofing services, and have since stopped as they've got all the shinies and rare mons now.
Exactly what happened with me :/

Yeah.
So remote raids made people lazy
@@Will5353_ I don't see why you even care about people being lazy? Some are still doing in person raids especially when it's enjoyable to go out
And yet companies that sell their pokemon on these data farming sites are still allowed to get away with it.
This. Wednesday Raid Hours used to be so fun. We used to raid our neighborhood gyms *because* we could invite via remote raids.
Remote raid is expensive in long term
Are you Instinct?
nice to see a big streamer actually call it like it is.
right?
About time. Ig he could tell that we could see the life draining from his vids
Cuz most are influencers who are paid to say certain things and act like they so into Pokemon Go
Not for the good of you, but for the good of them lol. Just layman, influencers capitalizing off your favorite hobby. If the game isn’t good, people lose interest, then they lose revenue. It’s that simple. He clearly says it in the video. The majority are not your friends here to spread joy lol. This isn’t old RUclips where it was purely for the hobby.
wheres all the good pokemon like mewto the raids are now dead with useless pokemon in them
The thing I hate is how you can not catch a lot of the Pokémon until the game lets you.
My absolute favorite part about pokemon go is when you spend the last two years finally getting the perfect high def and high hp pvp pokemon just for
them to make a community day or they make the pokemon more regular available in spawns I don't think yall understand how much money I spent grinding to get meditite xl candies.
The routes is broken , done about 12 routes and gotten only 4 cells lmao
Hell now it’s just paid timed research, so you have to pay to experience FOMO.

Spot on. People were raiding like crazy. Then they decided to kill remote raids and now it's dead as can be in the local chats. It's been a huge bummer.
Because whole point of the game is to leave the house
Yeah.
Sitting on the couch raiding isn’t “go”
Play console games for that experience

Biggest issue for me is the lack of players. I can never get any raids done besides the remote ones. Shit sucks

In 2016, you could find almost all 150 pokemon in your zone (the only ones you couldn't find were the regionals)
You had always have a different pokemon on screen (yes. half were rattatas or ekans, but the other half were interesting stuff like an evolution or a rare pokemon)
Nowadays, we are always in some event and the only pokemon that appears are the same 5-6 featured pokemon of the event.
Need to roatate them and not keep some in spawn pool for a yr straight .
this is so true its always the same event pokemon
The new seasons been great. Keep seeing evolutions of Pokemon. The routes event just started though and the spawns are so bad 😂
I agree. It's really boring to play Pokémon go three days in a row and see the same damn Pokémon all day long. How is that interesting??
Very true. Takes so long to collect coins as a f2p. The reason why I stopped playing.
Yeah look at clash of clans they reduce work in new updates

This makes me not want to raid anymore unless it's a pokemon I need to get in My pokedex
What also sucks to is they lowered legendary odds in battle leauge I used to get some often now I've only encountered like 1 this season and I'm rank 20
that is a dumb idea, nobody would ever raid and the raid numbers are already low for non preferred mons

How does it work? Can you transfer the Pokémon ?
@@katherinehomer8326 He's a legendary, so he won't be in the wild. If you could catch wild Zygardes that would be broken and insane lmao.
He's a legendary, so he won't be in the wild. If you could catch wild Zygardes that would be broken and insane lmao.
The main reason why I don't play as much right now is that it's freezing cold, snow and winter where I live - 20°C (0°F) 🥶 so after being out playing for 5 min you have ice cold hands. Dark around 3:30 pm. Playing on my way home from work. Maybe max an hour a day.
Niantic should hire people like you to contribute input on new ideas before dropping serious money on mediocre new feats like party play.
Nahhh , bring back the Golden age of remote raids, its so simple yet they are hard headed company.
This feeling always creeps up when winter comes around.

I used to have friends that we’d go out and shiny hunt events and grind raids for new and better Pokémon
most raids have the same 10 mons in a pool wdym
sounds like your friends just lost interest none of what you said correlates to remote raids

The way you ended this video was spot on. Many of us are so deeply invested-emotionally, financially, physically-that there’s no way we’re giving up. Thank you for this.
I use it as motivation to go on walks. Best thing to do while walking. It isn't dead. People will keep using it for that.
1 catch, 1 spin and 1 task. That is what Pokemon Go has become. Keep the streak alive and off it goes for the day.
Its not dead u guys just hate change and cry everytime they change it 💀
@@Bozeki if the changes in question either does nothing or negatively impacts the player experience as a whole then why would people not be bothered by the change? And people loved the stay at home changes for the pandemic so I feel like your point of saying people hate change in general doesn't hold much water here?
Lol I respect it
@@Bozeki "you guys just hate change" have you ever wondered why they hated the change? Maybe because it either ruins the game, or does nothing impactful or fun at all. They give no reason to play the game lol. Especially since every event has nearly the same wild pokemon spawns every time. As if they don't have over 1000 pokemon to choose from.
I really hope they see this - it might be a wake-up call. Probably not, but we can hope... Thanks Mystic, for being our voice 🙏🖤
Stopping spoofing really killed it although people don’t wanna admit it
Yeah, I am tired of seeing the same boring Pokémon around me outside of events...
I hope niantic sees this video, we need remote raids back like how it was during the pandemic
They don't need to. They already lost around half a billion dollars this year, that should speak louder than any little youtube video.
Just got the game again and I keep having to watch legendary raids expire because no one goes to them anymore..
I feel you bro
d e a d g a m e
like being the only person online in a mmorpg
Last weekend when we had the raids for Husain samarot, my old raid group actually got together and did a bunch of the raids together. It felt wonderful to all be back together again. Usually with these events it’s only my partner and myself going out and doing them. That’s the first time I’ve been excited playing Pokemon go for a long time.
What you said at the end is what I'm afraid Niantic is leaning on, they think people are so invested they won't quit. They're in for rude awakening if they think that's the case, because people are already quitting!
It's sad that this game wasn't developed by a competent company
Take a shot, every time he says “super”. 😎 🍻
Yeah, that extra damage let's you duo a lot of legendary raids.
It’s less excited now maybe it would change for the better
I agree, honestly the comments of complaints all reek of fat obesity and not leaving the house, there is no logic to be found in any of the complaints
"man we used to raid and leave the house all the time during covid then they removed the free remote raid passes"
so how does remote raiding make you go out more and how does it not being in the game make you raid less like jfc so many players here who sound like they've never left the house or activated a daily incense/route in their life
Me and gf have recently got back into the game for a couple months now. My friends are all getting jealous and are slowing starting to re install and play again too. I feel like a resurgence could come on with the right event
Bro it’s enjoyable.
But people like homie play every single day, all day and then get salty when nothing in the game excites them anymore
I have not played the game very much since they increased the price of remote raides
maybe it feels dead cuz the devs are bastardizing a sacred household name of pokemon
Would love to see your ideas on what could make the game better though!
another annoying thing is that legacy moves are so hard to get and you can rarely get them
How else would they make money off of Elite TMs?
I’d like to see either a 3rd charge move or 2nd fast move added to the game.
PvP would be close to unplayable like this. I think it would be enough to change the system with the TMs and just let your pokemon "re"-learn any attack they already learned once.
@@Nomanomayæy there already is the ability to relearn any previously learned moves for pokemon.
I feel ya mystic. It is disappointing. Just one thing from me, please don’t quit. We need you even if this game is going downhill
This is hands down some of the best constructive criticism. I only hope someone important at niantic watches this and actually listens
I’m actually having a blast, I started a new account 1 week ago. Now that o have my best friend (my Yorkshire terrier) I want to make new memories!
Honestly they should put a game feature when you can double battle with a friend
Feel like once I hit lvl 50 it's not gonna matter much but I will still grind to catch my favorite Pokémon an complete my pokedex
