Thanks!! Depending on the drum library you’re using you wouldn’t need it. Like I use Steven Slate Drums and depending on the kit preset (or if you’re building your own kits) you’ll already have 1-2 sets of room mics ready to go. On the flip side tho if you’re using a library that lacks room mics (or just just want a different room sound) then yea techniques like this can work great 🙂
This was an excellent tutorial video. I just switched to an 8 mic drum recording setup from a 12 mic setup, so this is a great tool for me to try. Thanks
great video. This channel is excellent at showing how a person in home studio can make their music sound like it was done in a pro studio even though its being done in a home studio.
Thanks for the kind words Mark. It's nice to hear. I'm a firm believer that skill will always trump gear. More so today than ever. We have so many tools available to us at home that if we can't make something sound good, its not the gear.
Thanks Randy. I’m not sure if I’ve seen how Joel does it, but most of the videos I’ve seen just have slightly different ways of doing the same thing, so I just wanted to add my spin to the mix. Glad you got something out of the video though 🙂
Hey everyone. I hope this tutorial was helpful. If you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments.
Excellent tutorial! Wondering how this will apply to programmed drums, could be an exciting technique there also

So simple, and saving cpu. I would use Joel Cameron’s technique but this is awesome as well.
