@DuckL0rd Someone else can actually hear reason. ME3's engine is not a whole new engine. It is the same damn engine with only a few updates. The run the same code, and the blu-ray disc allows for it to be all on one disc instead of 2 regular dvds. Pretty it up how they want, but it is the same engine but with the updates, Bioware named it the ME3 engine because it will be used for ME3.
The PS3 version also resets your weapons when you restart a game with an existing character file. So if you picked up the tempest, viper, widow, Cain, etc, you lose them all & have to play through with the crappy weapons again. It must be a glitch, since there's an end of level screen which tells you that you'll keep all your previous play weapons.
@pspboi7235 the Shadow Broker, Stolen Memories, and overlord are on the disc... The comic is only available by code (you have to buy it, or put the code, but as it is in 2nd hand, you will have to buy it) and then there's a lot of content for download...
@heavenlysword666 It's normal, the lines are there because if you listen at the beginning Miranda says they couldn't finish rebuilding Shepard but they need to him him/her up. They will heal if you are a paragon but will get worse and you will end up with red eyes and glowing red scars.
@dragnridr05 Bioware themselves came out said that the ps3 version of me2 is the true version of the games and that it runs on the me3 engine. Which is pretty odd thing to say because they didnt use the same lighting thats seen in the 360 and pc versions but yet somehow for some reason it made it look better imo.
This reviewer is the same one who did a review on me1 for ps3. So saying we will never see this on ps3 he spoke too soon. I just picked up me 1 2 and 3 on psn in January sales for about 5 pound each. Just wanted to see what reviews were while they are downloading.
If you buy it pre-owned, you won't get access to the Cerberus Network (which costs 15 dollars). It includes: The Normandy Crash Site, Zaeed squadmember and mission, Cerberus Weapon and Armor, Arc Projector Weapon, The Firewalker Pack (a pack where you explore planets with a vehicle) and Mass Effect: Genesis to make decisions from ME1. Kasumi, Lair of the Shadow Broker and Overlord are included on the disc so it doesn't matter if you get it new or pre-owned.
Pros: unlike the x box, the ps3 version fits all on one disc so you don't have to swap mid game. Plus, it's available digitally, so you don't even need one disc. Most of the DLC levels are included with the game, with the exception of Arrival. And even the old pre-order/Collector edition DLC is available to buy. Cons: The game retains an annoying glitch that it seems, Sony/Bioware aren't going to fix... When starting a new game, if you use a character from a completed game; none of the weapons you picked up from the previous game will carry over, despite having a level-completion screen tell you that you will.
"Don't cheat yourself by playing as a soldier", you can do that in any common third person shooter. Once you snatch an enemy from behind cover with Biotic Powers, and watch as you and your squad mates mutilate them in a hail fire and bullets, as they float helplessly, you will never look back. Vanguard is awsome but all classes have their strengths. The class you choose really changes the way you play the game.
"The PS3 version is the best, most complete version of the game available" ehhh why did this get 9,5 and the normal game a 9,6? oh yea, Otherwise they would betray Micro$oft....
@551Music He said in the video this was the best, most complete experience, having the DLC included does make it a fuller, longer, deeper game and superior to the xbox's version, yes you could buy the dlc on xbox, but for pure value and convenience this copy is better. Having better graphics doesn't make the game itself better, but it's just an improvement which should be acknowledged. There's no way you can argue otherwise, the PS3 has more of everything for the same money.
gets 0.5 off perfect because it didnt come to ps3 in time? are you kidding me xD this game is my favourite game of all time and ive completed it 7 times
IGN doesn't start games at a 10 and then remove points as they find flaws. The reviewer plays the game then rates it based on how much they enjoyed it. And the pluses/minuses at the end of the video aren't always the complete extent of their thoughts. Read the written review for a more in depth look at their 2 cents.
WingedSoda we know that but the pluses and minuses at the end of the videos point out the main points. one of which...a major minus being that the game is late to Ps3?
@xJinRaGna Interestingly, the game is $36.68 on Amazon right now. And it also includes 4 free DLC packs. I am still trying to figure out how the game is lesser than the 360 version.
Furhad SweatPantz That was the belief at the time. Seeing as Microsoft owned the publishing rights, we were meant to believe that the first Mass Effect would never be put on Playstation 3.
tyspyranger but obviously the perception was wrong since as moriarty himself said in the Me1 review, with ea's acquisition of bioware came their acquisition of the ME IP
ok so i just beat the suicide mission, i lost my crew and jack and tali, but i got away with miranda, ive gained her trust, and tryed to talk to her after every mission, ive never said anything negative, but for some reason i couldnt get her to, you know, before the mission, so im wondering if its possible to get paramour with her after the game ends, or if you can get her to like you in mass effect 3? even with my situation? appreciate the help
This was the first Mass Effect I played since 1 wasn't on ps3 at the time. At the start I thought it was pretty boring but once I was around 3 hours in I loved it. One of my favourite games and the best out of the trilogy IMO.
one of the best games ive ever played, but i really suggest if you guys have a pc or xbox to get it for that because you can play 1 first and import it, it really makes it a lot better seeing your actions in the first one effect the world in mass effect 2.
I'm playing through the 360 version on "Insanity" difficulty and it's quickly becoming my favorite game of all time. PS3 owners (and I'm one, too) do yourselves a favor and buy this amazing game. Ignore the haters. You'll thank me for this!
@AlwaysJon Thank you very much for your concern. Sorry to bother you, but I have another question: Does Soldier class have any signifivant disadvantages comparing to other classes?
I found it funny that the reviewer said that we'll never experience mass effect 1 on ps3. Ii smiled because I'm using my imported character on mass effect 2 right now. This series is doper
@JohnnyBoy7267 lol yea it does have more glitches probably. there was a boundary to prevent my guy from falling a hundred meters straight to my death and i kept walking into it till my character started to float in the air :D it was awesome lol and yea the textures arent the best, i wud prefer the ps3 version becuz of the comic thingy and the graphics AND the free dlc which i just spent like 30 bucks on -.-
Are there any significant problems on the ps3 over the 360? I wanna get the trilogy for ps3 because I like my ps3 setup more but if the game runs a lot better on 360 then ill get it for that
I just got this game right now. I was really interested in the third one so I thought I'd play this before the third one comes out. The comic book interaction thingy was pretty cool, didn't have to buy the first game to understand.
@TSonnyD Yes theres a code to put in the PSN store its the Cerberus Pack and the way you use it is you play through the opening of the game then it shifts to the comic,
@Cflores008 - The PSN hack occured last year , where there were only 2 major exclusives : Gears of War 3 and Forza Motorsport 4 . And both the exclusives were released between Q3 and Q4 .
@VladimirVLD I honestly didn't have any bugs with the full PS3 version. The game froze up once, but that was on a weekend when I had been playing the game for nearly 12 hours straight.
@theTVremote2697 my copy is second hand so no dlc. £15 for cerebrus project (around 25/30 dollars. is it worth it? can i get a redemption code from somewhere? help!
@sondrino12 Bioware has NOT announced anything other than the release date of 11-10-2011. Anything else is left in the air. I have seen ME2 on the PS3 in person and it is the same Exact engine that ME2 is running on the 360.
@FreakinSweet1987 You can play the first game on your xbox or pc first and go to the second game on the ps3. You can make the same choices in the comic that you made in the first game on a different console. So there is nothing you can do on the 360 or PC version of ME 2 that you can't do in the PS3. In fact, it is kind of better this way, because if you wanted, you could make different choices in the comic and see how they effect ME2 without having to go through ME1 more than once.
@osheem i meant they can lower the score cuz usually if a exclusive game comes out on another console they change it up in terms of story line ( alternate ending or something like that) all they really did was make the same game for ps3 but with mass effect 3's engine
I just beat mass effect 1 on the 360 today. i borrowed my brothers 360 and rented mass effect 1 to prepare me for mass effect 2. now that i beat it i'm going to buy mass effect 2 for the ps3. i'm glad about this because it has all of the dlc plus more in it. can't wait also for mass effect 3 this fall. awesome!
@streetstar221 wait im confused with the end of ur comment... "either they were going to give it the same score or not" ...not what? yes they played the same game again so what makes that a worse experience?
Question fellow gamers: I just got Mass Effect 2 for PS3, but it didn't run me through the intro piece that fills in the blanks for ME1. How do I access that content? Also how do I access the DLC (Shawdow Broker, etc.) that came with the game? Do I need to play through it first?
@streetstar221 i can think of a few: bioshock, virtua fighter 5, final fantasy xiii, lost and damned, & ballad of gay tony but as far as i know the story lines for all those games remained unchanged
Looking back at the two hugest RPG franchises to go multiplatform this gen, the 360 getting Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2, and the PS3 getting Mass Effect 2 and 3.... dude.... Mass Effect kicks way more ass nowadays than FF games without Sakaguchi.
@Vilemk0 exactly. anyone new to the ME game will incredibly pleased with how much content this game has. not only is the game alone over 30 hrs but with all of the dlc plus more in it, this game is an easy must buy for gamers who like deep storyline, great action, and a very lengthy re playable game.
@gphan331 You will get the downloadable comic from the cerberus network pin in the game. You enter the pin in the PSN network to receive the comic and other goodies for free. Mind you it will only work if you get a new copy b/c most likely someone has used the PIN before trading it. Also the pin is only valid till next year but you can purchase it in the PSN store for 14.99.
For anyone who got the ps3 version or maybe even the 360 version, are u experiencing audio n video sync issues during cut scenes? Cuz I m lol n it's really killing the experience for me.
how is the interactive comic? does it explain the whole story of the first game? do you make choices in the comic that affect how the second game goes? please respond.
is the downloadable content worth the investment? I bought a second hand copy for £10 without dlc.I can see this will take about 40-50 hours of my life without dlc..... not sure if i need to invest. been playing for a couple days on and off in between battlefield 3 and my unhealthy love of borderlands.... im not sold yet... but hoping it gets better as it plays out.
@xJinRaGna You seem to ignore the fact that there are people out there that don't have both consoles but were waiting for this to come for the ps3. I don't see how the game being late to the ps3 makes it any less better especially when it is an improved version of the 360's version.
@varunnarain50 because i started me1 about 5 times and only got 3 or 4 hours into it before something fucked up,either my computer broke,it kept on getting stuck on 1 place or i only played on 1 save and that save got fucked up..
@GhibliFan1 *Edit* Actually, scrap MGS HD collection off my list as I just saw the X360 also got a version, albeit an inferior 2 disc charlie. Add the Ratchet and Clank series in its place or any of the other A-List exclusives.
Hi, hoping someone who has the game for the ps3 can help me. I bought this game yesterday, just started playing though it, and all of a sudden the characters voices and the sound effects in the game became really low. I turned the game off the put it back on again and its not done it again yet. What's that about ? why did the sound become really low in the game ?
i bought mass effect 2 for PS3 today...i want to know where is this interactive comic....in the 700mb dlc?...at the starting of the game?..or do i have to purchase it separately?
@iqon97 I still don't understand what that has to do with Mass effect being sold on the PS3, it's already out on the Xbox 360... and the 3rd one is being released on both consoles. You still haven't answered my question; Handle what?
I don't care about the score this game gets. I just know that this is a MUST HAVE GAME. The score of reviews just give me a range to go to and this review gives me the PERFECT range.
Hey guys I'm planning to get this game 2nd hand (don't hate on me please,It's just that I'm in college and money is hard to go by nowadays), but I wanna ask a few questions: 1.Is this comic on the disc already? Or do you have to download it over that 'Cerberus network' thingambob?(I don't know what it is, I never played ME sorry) 2.Are the DLCs on disc also? Thanks!
I think your game locked up lmao. I'd call the load times 'frequent', but not really long. If you had a five minute load time from a new game then something else must be wrong..that's not the game's fault
@Joeyg143 They didnt rate it lower they just cant rate it 9.6 because they have changed there rating system to only having a whole full number or with .5 ahead of it. kinda like gamespot's rating system
"So you´ll never see Mass Effect on the PS3" Yeah... Time says another thing
@DuckL0rd Someone else can actually hear reason. ME3's engine is not a whole new engine. It is the same damn engine with only a few updates. Pretty it up how they want, but it is the same engine but with the updates, Bioware named it the ME3 engine because it will be used for ME3.
The thing he didn't bring up was the huge audio desync during cutscenes... Still my favorite Mass Effect game though.
That's the biggest issue with this port. Quite annoying.
Luckily, it only happens during about 3 cutscenes as far as I can recall.
The PS3 version also resets your weapons when you restart a game with an existing character file. So if you picked up the tempest, viper, widow, Cain, etc, you lose them all & have to play through with the crappy weapons again. I NEVER play games like these but since i got it i've been hooked. It's amazing! You're basically dead if you haven't played it lol
@heavenlysword666 It's normal, the lines are there because if you listen at the beginning Miranda says they couldn't finish rebuilding Shepard but they need to him him/her up. They will heal if you are a paragon but will get worse and you will end up with red eyes and glowing red scars.
Reviews for different ports should have stayed like this, instead of a lazy copy and paste review. Fucking IGN nowadays.
Agreed

How dafuk is late to PS3 a con
I've only played the 2nd one. That game alone made me become obsessed with it. So I cant wait to see how the 1st and 3rd one are!
very cool how did you find them both?
gets 0.5 off perfect because it didnt come to ps3 in time? are you kidding me xD this game is my favourite game of all time and ive completed it 7 times
yeah, how is it the fault of the game itself for being a late port

"it came out late, but it was worth the wait" - a few seconds later it gets marked down for coming out late -_-
@ihas700fingerz i haven't played the first game would i still enjoy this?
Yes you would ;)

@AConceitedJackass
the weird thing about this is the fact that Shepards face has more detail on the xbox/pc version vs the PS3.
I'm playing through the 360 version on "Insanity" difficulty and it's quickly becoming my favorite game of all time. PS3 owners (and I'm one, too) do yourselves a favor and buy this amazing game. Ignore the haters. You'll thank me for this!
@1000123blair Think about it if reviewing games without taking into account the release date how would you know if the game looks good or bad?
@AlwaysJon
Thank you very much for your concern.
Sorry to bother you, but I have another question: Does Soldier class have any signifivant disadvantages comparing to other classes?
@teza789 but i cant see where the xbox gameplay is there on 1:10...i was asking what did you see to say that part is x360....:)

they're 3 dlc missions that are already included on the actual game, so u dont have to worry about where it is

@VladimirVLD I honestly didn't have any bugs with the full PS3 version. The game froze up once, but that was on a weekend when I had been playing the game for nearly 12 hours straight.
@theTVremote2697 my copy is second hand so no dlc. £15 for cerebrus project (around 25/30 dollars.
is it worth it? can i get a redemption code from somewhere?
help!
Eat your words Clements. Mass Effect 1 is HERE!
@sondrino12 Bioware has NOT announced anything other than the release date of 11-10-2011. Anything else is left in the air. I have seen ME2 on the PS3 in person and it is the same Exact engine that ME2 is running on the 360.

i know when i saw that i was like "what a pathetic excuse not to give it a 10/10"
If Mass Effect 2 had Mass effect 3's combat system I would say it would be the- one of the best games ever made
to me mass effect 2 gameplay is better than mass effect 3
@gphan331 I believe the backstory for ME1 is at the beggining of the ME2 demo on PSN.
@Vilemk0 Source from wiki:
A week is a time unit equal to seven days.
Derp.
@24Uzumaki well, the dlc was already on XBL. you can't really uprate a game because it was included...
So many audio issues on the ps3 copy. :(

I sure hope there' a chance that Miranda, Kasumi and Samara can be PERMANENT Squad members like with Kasumi DLC in Mass Effect 2.
1:12 to 1:18 is 360 footage. You can tell by the lighting.
@streetstar221 i can think of a few: bioshock, virtua fighter 5, final fantasy xiii, lost and damned, & ballad of gay tony
but as far as i know the story lines for all those games remained unchanged

been playing for a couple days on and off in between battlefield 3 and my unhealthy love of borderlands.... im not sold yet... but hoping it gets better as it plays out.
Can you get that Dr. Pepper Recon Hood in this version?
@teza789 maybe that was intencional to show the diference between the engines...:)
"-late to ps3"
wth?? y did they take pts of that??
Does the PS3 version have any fremerate issues anywhere close to the PS3 version of ME3?
Or is ME2 on PS3 run pretty smooth?
2:11 ''Your choices ultimately effect your play through of Mass Effect 3'' what do you mean by that? Mass Effect 3 isn't even out yet?
@xJinRaGna You seem to ignore the fact that there are people out there that don't have both consoles but were waiting for this to come for the ps3. I don't see how the game being late to the ps3 makes it any less better especially when it is an improved version of the 360's version.

I love how every ad I've gotten today has been for ME3.
Just got the mass effect trilogy so im going to be busy for awhile
Hi, hoping someone who has the game for the ps3 can help me. @pspboi7235 You have to get the comic from the store.
And the DLCs are within the disc.
@AllWalksofLife its not 3 years, this game was release last january 2010 on Xbox. its only a year.
This game is a true jewel for PS3. I will never change my 360 for PS3 but I think it brilliant that PS3 gamers can play this as well!
@BIGCHEESYC0W ratings are now on a 20 point scale rather than a 100 point scale.
10 years later and it's still the best!
i bought mass effect 2 for PS3 today...i want to know where is this interactive comic....in the 700mb dlc?...at the starting of the game?..or do i have to purchase it separately?
WAIT WAIT WAIT YOU PUT THUMBS DOWN FOR BEING LATE THATS BS!!!
Yea, thanks for that info. Do you think it's still possible to buy Mass Effect 2 new on Ps3? (or Xbox)
Or will it be highly unlikely?
there really was no point for a review. it's mass effect 2 on ps3, the end. it's the same great fucking game but on a different console
@iqon97 I still don't understand what that has to do with Mass effect being sold on the PS3, it's already out on the Xbox 360... and the 3rd one is being released on both consoles. You still haven't answered my question; Handle what?
@robloxfan459 thank you! one more qusetion, are the loyalty missions assigned to you or do you have to just find them on your own?
1:31 The playstation 3 version is running on Mass effect 3's engine? Futuristic.... very impressive.
I don't care about the score this game gets. I just know that this is a MUST HAVE GAME. The score of reviews just give me a range to go to and this review gives me the PERFECT range.
Hey guys I'm planning to get this game 2nd hand (don't hate on me please,It's just that I'm in college and money is hard to go by nowadays), but I wanna ask a few questions:
1.Is this comic on the disc already? Or do you have to download it over that 'Cerberus network' thingambob?(I don't know what it is, I never played ME sorry)
2.Are the DLCs on disc also?
Thanks!
i just cant figure out why shepard looks at the ground beside him as he walks it is a little annoying
does the interactive comic come free to the ps3 or do we have to buy it
I think your game locked up lmao. I'd call the load times 'frequent', but not really long. If you had a five minute load time from a new game then something else must be wrong..that's not the game's fault
0:34, what song is that
the ps3 version has all the dlc's except the arrival right?
@Joeyg143 They didnt rate it lower they just cant rate it 9.6 because they have changed there rating system to only having a whole full number or with .5 ahead of it. kinda like gamespot's rating system
wait, you need to download the comic? from where, PSN? and is it free?
"late to ps3" was a negative point, when literally ten seconds earlier you said the "wait was worth it" ?
