An easy way to start is to put your hand on a white sheet of computer paper. Spread your fingers, let your eyes and face relax, and let your eyes go out of focus. Use your peripheral vision, and be open to seeing the whole room/space around you, and look at the space IN BETWEEN each of your fingers. Your eyes will want to shake back into focus, but with practice and persistence you'll find you'll see like a white whisper vapor around your fingers, and then it will turn into a color. After you've done it once it's easier and easier to get back to that space. To close your third eye afterwards: at your own pace, blink your eyes several times while focusing in on one point.
