    Connor McDavid was the first overall draft pick for the Edmonton Oilers, but before he was a star in the NHL he put in his time. In this video he's just a kid, and training his edges, stickhandling, shooting and skating. These drills really challenge him to improve his skills. If you want to improve you need to go outside your comfort zone and challenge yourself. You can use some of these drills that Connor McDavid did as a kid and try them out yourself.

    His skills in this video aren't so unbelievable. Don't get me wrong they are very impressive but lots of kids that age can dangle and skate well. What makes McDavid so special is his ability to do all of this in a game situation and seemingly be unfazed by pressure an big situations. He's a social performer I believe its called. Meaning the bigger the stage the better they perform.

    • @scottayyyy1
      @scottayyyy1 8 лет назад +1

      +Hannah VanDzura don't focus on the flashy things, going top shelf will come over time with strength, and skating, just work on the fundamentals first, then the flashy things will come with strength, practice, and skill.

  • @EPICNOVAify
    @EPICNOVAify 8 лет назад

    Hey Jeremy. I have a video suggestion for you. Can you make a video on the different ways to enter the offensive zone like dump and chase or carrying the puck down low?

    • @hockey2hockey
      @hockey2hockey 8 лет назад +2

      +EPICNOVA Just to name a few options here... I prefer to always stay away from the defensman's stick but if you feel like taking the risk you can always try deking but i prefer not to 1. use defence as screen get a shot or just skate down the dots and get a shot out of dmans stick range 2. enter zone to hash marks, tight turn towards the boards skate back towards blue line while finding open man coming in late 3. taking it to the corner you can do the same thing, tight turn skate back up lookign for open man 4. if the d give you room to take it behind the net, DO IT. This way it forces a defensive switch and you'll have some good options to pass to coming out the other side of the net 5. gain blueline cut to the middle and keep skating to find an open shot or pass (beware of someone trying to line you up for a hit in the middle). This shouldn't stop you from trying the move though, the best players in the NHL do it all the time 6. If no other opportunity dump it in with a purpose, so that either you or a teamate can get to it first. Sometimes your coach may prefer dumping it as a means to intimidate the defence of the other team, but I'd rather not dump it. It could work because emotion is a big part of the game and you can get the defence scared to touch the puck it could help in making them make poor scared decisions.
