Hi! Put a lope in one end of your thread - then put a brad in your 2x4, put the lope on the brad - tie several washers on the other end of your thread and drape it over the other end of the 2x4. Then glue as you did in your video. Mike.
When I was working on flats of military equipment, when it came to the tiedown chains I found it best to hang the scale chain and run a bead of CA down the chain and let that dry. I've never tried it with thread.
@@whistlestopmodels205 A few folks have mentioned that...I guess I need to get a bottle and try that out. It seems like the available tools for this hobby are endless!
Well, that looks a little fiddly. But well worth the effort, it really looks the part and certainly something to keep in mind if we ever need to do any. Would some activator, sprayed onto the glue have helped to set the first one in place before doing the others. But I suppose once you've done a few, you get nto it, and it becomes a little easier... Cheers James 🙂👍
@DYLINGTONMODELRAILWAY I'm sure I haven't perfected my assembly technique yet but I haven't been discouraged from doing more. I've never used activator before...may have to check that out.
@KandWRailroader I must admit that I've never used it, but I've seen others using it and initially seem to work for them. I really like the barbed wire effect it gives 😁👍
About your river I found some stuff called alumilite amazing clear cast reain it’s about $120 for a gallon on Amazon could do the main layer in that then do the woodland scenic over top of it just an 1/8 inch thick could probably do the whole river for around $250
Just a thought, why couldn’t you take your Hobby knife and just put a little slot in the end corners of the wood and pull the string down taught in the slits. That way you wouldn’t need the weights. Haven’t tried this myself. Just thinking.
That thread is suck a good fit with this. I never thought about using something like that but I am definitely going to go buy some. Good job!
@@whistlestopmodels205 Glad to hear it! Good luck!
Place wax paper under the object you're trying to glue. It's worked for me for years. Nice work.
@@BlueyedWolfGreywolf Awesome tip! Thank you!

Another thing that will help a lot is using the CA accelerator to quick set the super glue.

I am wondering if super glue activator would help?
@@Bliz0516 Dylington mentioned that...I might have to try that.
Have you considered using a strand of window screen for barbed wire?
@@JosephKubala I have not. Is that preferable to thread?
@@KandWRailroaderIt’s a matter of personal preference. I have seen screen used and it adds the cross pieces- barbs.
