We did, took a lot of photos too. You can ask the tour guide to stop ... if that's something that interests you. I hated that whole airplane crash scene and stop, others loved it. I'd rather stop either at the Psycho house or the Bates Hotel. I've seen some pictures from VIP tours where they stopped there.
I've taken the tour a dozen times over the last 50 years and the one thing that is sad about the tour, it changes to the most current filming history, with minor exceptions. For example the typical urban street, they talk about desperate housewives series and a few movies, but, the history of that street from "Leave it to beaver" Dragnet, Adam 12, Emergency, The list goes on forever. I get it, the under 30 don't care about what was filmed around the 50's, and the history would take to long to tell on a tour, still, sad so much history of what happens on so many lots and sound stages are being lost.
Recall how the tour guide would divert your attention by having you look at a building in the background (one he claimed was historically significant), thereby adding to the "shock" once the bridge collapsed?
Had you guys(people that filmed this) waited to do this in December, the The Grinch part of the tour, you would seen a additional Christmas things like a Whoville 5 minute performance with people/Whoville residents dancing and The Grinch pops up to for a bit to say hi to us.Very neat show AND it snows in the park at night too!
He can easily swing the view over to the right side, I understand that there is a lot of people to his or her left to shoot both sides, but come on, all he has to do is lift the camera a bit high above the heads of his or her's fellow passengers. Or he/ she could have brought along a partner to shoot the left side of the trolley and just edit in post.

Jesus, thank you for almost 2 hours of staring at walls, foliage or the pavement. Surely if the tour guide is talking about something on the left, look left!
These negative comments are not warranted. Nobody is paying to watch this video nor are they entitled to a full 2 hour tour that they are getting for FREE. When I was younger, I always wanted to do the VIP Tour. That is, until I went to Halloween Horror Nights and only paid $90 (annual pass discount) and got to walk around the back lot at night. I got to run around the Bates Motel area, get a picture with Norman on the front steps of the Psycho house and walk through the War of the Worlds set. Not to mention they had the downtown part of the back lot open with food, games and more mazes. It was a lot of fun.
Whoever was working the camera should have panned left when they were talking about things on the left - there was so much we didn't get to see because we never saw the left side of the tour - major thumbs down 👎
Maybe the tram was packed and the uploader didnt have room to get the shot without ruining another paying customers experience. Or hell maybe the uploader just forgot. Either way its a great free experience of a luxury item.
lucky ducks got to walk in court house square! ive done this tour 6-7 times and its always been off limits, pass through it once on standard tour, but VIP was always off limits as it was a hot set for ghost whisperer for a few years. i did pass through before the 08 fire though. it shame they didnt re build the Back to the future cinema jaws 19 on that east side of the square.
I went last in 2012. There is loads of new stuff. I think they are doing great with it adding Harry Potter world was a good move. But it replaced the amplitheatre so not sure where they are currently holding events as i seen teh 2009 mtv movie awards there. Yeah I went before the fire and just after as well, These things happen guess. Happened few times.
Is it really?? I have been going back and forth considering. I am a single mom and I really don't have the $$ to waste if you know what I mean. I want it to be as great as they say it is because we really want to do the VIP experience.
WOW - thank you for uploading this video. I been to the park twice, but never had the chance to do the VIP experience tour. This made me wanna book a flight from the UK and get back to the Studios and get on this VIP tour.
I was very grateful to see what I did get to see here. Yes, I agree, grease or replace the brakes because it the audio picks it up for those taping it. I can't even imagine what it would have been like for someone who had a headache. It is affecting me just listening to it here. Otherwise, thank YOU for bringing me closer to a dream that I may never get to see.....a visit to California and to the studios.
I would go on this tour in a heartbeat. A suggestion is for Universal to offer a tour exclusive to classic film and television, 1930 to 1980. A lot of the recent films are geared toward kids and young adults. I am more interested in Hitchcock, the Universal Horrors of Frankenstein and Dracula, the Westerns and Film Noir. Perhaps, they could set aside a tour - once a week - for the classics.
where the vip shuttle stops at the corner by the greek columns at 1:39:11 is where the ending scene of blade was filmed. where blade calls the russian vampire "comrade". the original facade burned down in the 2008 fire, and they replaced it with this one.

Wow Universal has changed so much since the last time I was there. 1974 my brother and I did the tour 2 days in a row. On the second day we were detoured because they were digging a jagged ditch in the road we took the day before. It was for a new Charlton Heston movie "Earthquake". There was only one thing that was still there that I recognized and that was the flooding street. Thanks Universal, you've made me wanna go back and do the VIP tour. If not for all the newer stuff then for the buffet. (Note to self: don't eat 8 hours before the tour)
It's looks good I just love it so much fun making flash back past life look back at movie maze party oasr awesome picture awards TCM hollywood movies on Netflix about how much money does it take to be there in doing more than most definitely documentary about biography history books years before New York times picture awards TCM channel interview review and pay for house in maze in the world part of the same place looks like a new one part time they have to be there by a
During a tour of the Warner Bros Studios the host told that it was Warner Bros who had the most props in their possession ! Here I here Universal studios!
The Captain America: First Avenger scene where Captain America chases a cab down the street, the guide talks about on the New York street set, was actually shot on a real street that was dressed to look like Brooklyn and was in fact in Manchester England
nice they have new lyons estate gates from BTTF. When i did my tour in 2008 they were ok, but the lions where facing inward and the wrong way to that seen in the movie When i went on my 2009 tour one of the gates had been hit by a production vehicle i was told and damaged. Nice the 30th anniversary team donated these new ones and they are more screen accurate. There surely is though a better place to have these on the tour? and placed in the the backlot, to have them infront of the ' hilly valley' new homes sign like in the film would be much nicer than just infront of tatty gates and caravans etc etc.
When i was there they were filming the first Pirates of the Caribbean. The cave sequence. The tour tram was supposed to go into that sound stage, but it was being used for the movie. There was so much stuff blocking the street you couldn't drive a golf cart through it!
@bia magia-The crew call sheets are usually 0700 hrs and they usually shoot interiors during the day during the week. Exterior shoots are off limits to trams because of the wild audio from the tram and the disruption. Film production is normally June through March followed by a hiatus. The tour has the same stuff as it did many years ago because the exteriors don't change. "Bruce" the shark was a nightmare as the tour guide states and screwed up the film
Quit crying. We usually go every other year or so, take relatives visiting, go ourselves etc. Have seen filming many times. Or, we drive by a set that is filming.. as stated, any exteriors start as early as 6am, rarely if ever on the weekends. And of course night shoots.
Do you know which sound stages did they shot a few of my favorite shows; such as Fraser, Cheers, Fuller House, Last Man Standing? Just to name a few of my favorite TV shows from Paramount and NBC.
As crazy fun as the FAST & FURIOUS aspect of the tour is,they should have animated the Universal park so it looks like we are still in the park and all this crazy shit is all happening in it .Having the action start with the Rock and the others acknowledging we are in the park but have the action happen in Downtown L.A. is unrealistic and have 3 slightly different version of the 3d video playing for day time, evening and night. Lastly require that the guides be trained actors so they can react to urgent situations, because a mono toned voice guide kinda leaves us out of the experience, right??
Half that lot spending all their time of their phones and the rest looking typically disinterested...remember it’s a theme park made for your money well done for giving them it!
But they also get to go in 12 rides without any wait, they get breakfast no extra charge, lunch no extra charge, and right after 7 hours of all of that they get the express pass thing
Really Nice! Thanks so much for posting! It's like bein' with the Tour..love it! Had a question though :what camera was used for this?..cause the stabilizing and res are Just really good on this ! wow! many friendly greets!👌
I see the King Kong attraction and the various movie cars are part of this tour, but last week they weren't included in the regular 1-hour tour this year, unlike last year. Can't afford to go on the VIP tour.
the route of the regular tour and the vip tour change all the time. some things affecting the route might include filming at a certain area or sound stage, maintenance on a certain attraction, or something just as simple as road work would prevent the tram or vip shuttle from accessing a certain area.
I guess the directors, producers ,and the other crew members have to return the prop and/or props that they use for a television show producing a TV show like Fraiser.
The VIP Tour costs 349 $ plus Tax, while the Universal Express unlimited costes 199 $ p. T. So the VIP-Part itself coasts 150$ 'only'. You'll get snacks, refreshments, a gourmet meal, the ViP-Tour with stage-access, additional photo opportunities, valet parking (and lounge-access if you pay with AmEx). I think it's worth the money.
Host points out interesting things on the left side. Camera stays on right, looking at the sides of buildings, or bushes. Vehicle stays put, idling, while host talks about something. Camera stays looking at the same thing on the right (nothing interesting) and doesn't pan around or even at the host.
A lot of people are ripping on the cameraman/woman, but I give themes credit for filming for 2 hours. It takes a lot of patience to do that and they were generous to share the experience with all of us...

Those breaks!! And why were they filming all out the right hand side? I was screaming to turn he camera round ahahha

Yeah, the camera should have been facing left!
I watched the whole thing really enjoyed it... Thank you! :)
Really enjoyed it killed some time especially in these lockdown times
The tour bus needs new brakes.

Maybe because there were to many people,
Maybe the tram was packed and the uploader didnt have room to get the shot without ruining another paying customers experience. Or hell maybe the uploader just forgot. Either way its a great free experience of a luxury item.
MomofHuskies he most likely had to since there was probably people next to him And didn’t want to be filmed with a camera in their face
Exactly. If this video was made for the studio
"InsideUniversal" they should know better.

MrMagic the cinema is finished, that cant hold that main people in one room.
Very Very nice. Thank you for not jumping from side of the tram to the other side all the time
Why is the tour driver talking like hes "Apart" of filming and production lol ....he's a tour guide lol
This was fun! Thanks! Felt like I was with the group!

What an awesome tour guide
why do u only have to film the right I would have liked to have seen the other side of the tram!!!!!!
I recognize that train engine by the restrooms. In the 70s and 80s it used to come right at the tram. cool to see it still there.
nice
I did the VIP tour twice and I’d gladly do it again. 100% worth the price!

There surely is though a better place to have these on the tour? and placed in the the backlot, to have them infront of the ' hilly valley' new homes sign like in the film would be much nicer than just infront of tatty gates and caravans etc etc.
There were actually 4 sets of them made for the production.
well yeah of course because different films and time zones and props normal have replacements just in case. but thanks for that official number.
I like the last part of tour ❤

The old Train Attack part of the tour! I remember they had a dummy of Mr. T set up in the engineer's booth back in the 80's.
Thanks for filming!
Thanks for sharing this!
The guide at the prop warehouse looks a lot like Aaron Sorkin lol...
been there 3 times during the years at different times of the day...and never seen something being filmed or actors around...strange, isn t it?
When i was there they were filming the first Pirates of the Caribbean. The cave sequence. The tour tram was supposed to go into that sound stage, but it was being used for the movie. There was so much stuff blocking the street you couldn't drive a golf cart through it!
Bia Magia they only film on weekday mornings and late at night.
They have to change to way a tram goes since they can't risk the filming to be disturbed but they do film the scenes there
Quit crying.
Frasier and Cheers were shot at Paramount. Fuller House was at Warner Bros. Last Man was shot at CBS Studio Center in Studio City.
I was watching this during Halloween
yes the brakes are killing us!
80 days to the point of the day before my eyes
As of today, there are about 66 days to go! :)
at 1:47:15, that looks like the gas station and apartments with the fire escapes were used in Hairspray Live! when they did the song "Without Love"
Memories.
Do not quit your day job, Camera Man!
Quit complaining, you can do better? And your hat is crooked douche
My head is crooked, Bag
chuckfan1 everyone can do better...
Heavy breathing. huff huff huff.
That one girl in pink and shorts liked to be filmed 😂
I wanna go back to universal studios to do the tram tour
Is that the train from Back to the Future III? When they go on a bathroom break in 6 points texas? 1:13:00
I was there yesterday 😀
Wow. 20 seconds in and the first film reference isn't from a Universal film.
Nice photography - enjoyed very much. Thanks for sharing.
Are you blind 😑?
How much money do you have to pay to do this vip
jairogaga 200.00$
Athen Kurtz where did u get ur tickets from online it's $359Usa $$$
325$ each
Really Nice! Thanks so much for posting! It's like bein' with the Tour..love it! Had a question though :what camera was used for this?..cause the stabilizing and res are Just really good on this ! wow! many friendly greets!👌
Looked like all the action was to the left. Is that the Gazebo from Gilmore Girls?
i went back in 1980 when jaws set was new, im guessing before the fire, it sure wasnt 400$ back then.
Was the normal studio tram tour running that day
I see the King Kong attraction and the various movie cars are part of this tour, but last week they weren't included in the regular 1-hour tour this year, unlike last year.
Nice California Girl in Stripes Pink and White T Shirt and Shorts
Did they not get to see wisteria lane anymore? When I did the free tour, we drove through Wisteria Lane.
What's the difference between this and the free backlot tours they do?
I guess the directors, producers ,and the other crew members have to return the prop and/or props that they use for a television show producing a TV show like Fraiser.
I honestly thought that for $400 you would get a little more....
For one moment I thought you were going into the restrooms to film!!!!! Great vid though.
interesting - thanks for upload.
How is the tour and how much are tickets for adults (Florida residents)? Oh I forgot to mention is it opened to disabled people like any other guest?
ugh wish i saw the jurassic 2&3 set
VIP tour takes history 100th anniversary magic of movie's 50th anniversary years Intrvew review
That's The VIP experience includes something else like rides and stuff?
$350 for that though. Ouch
is this worth it?
Host points out interesting things on the left side. Camera stays on right, looking at the sides of buildings, or bushes. Vehicle stays put, idling, while host talks about something. Camera stays looking at the same thing on the right (nothing interesting) and doesn't pan around or even at the host.
I'm curious if people think the tour price ($350) is justified ? Is it worth it ?
I’m going to universal next week
Did they use the plane crash site from War of the Worlds in Scary Movie 4 also?
i remember doing this not too long ago i think about 1 or 2 months ago
very good
You need to do the camera better move it around more
