Legend has it that if you were in the audience of a live Alice in Chains show you could feel the vibrations emanating from Layne like a sonic boom - all that power coming from his frail sick body (he looks at his most healthy in this recording). So sad I never got to see a live show.
Saw them in 1993. It was the roughest concert I ever went to. 😂 One great big moving mosh pit on the floor.
That is not a legend it is a fact, Sepultura alice in chains and ozzy no more tours tour ozzy as headliner…Burried my mom and left the funeral took 4 hits of acid went to the show…Stanley had a broken leg in a wheel chair and still made every set of pantys in that place soakin wet with how his voice vibrated everything..49 still tear to this song 30 years later
One of the greatest vocalists in history by far.
Him and Mike Patton are my favorites
@@chrisbrant3120 Yep, cant forget Patton!
No way man.....LAYNE ALL THE WAY❤
This just came up on my feed so I had to watch it. One of the greatest singers to grace our planet. Thank you for reacting to it . He's just sensational..
Favorite band ever. RIP layne Staley
Another life taken too soon
*Alice In Chains- "Nutshell" Or "Would"* RIP-Layne Staley
Layne one of those that sound just as good, if not better, live
I’ve been watching your reactions for a while and really like your style. Much respect. “Love hate love” Is a great song but not a great first song from them to listen to. At the end of my comment I’ll give you the real hype AIC recommendations for a first time Alice In Chains listener. You just came upon one of the most legendary rock/metal/grunge bands ever. Alice In Chains are complete game changers when it came to music. Give them a second day in court. I think you’re Gonna smash that like button on these guys. Alice in Chains recommend listening: Man in a box, Them Bones, Would?, Rooster. These song will not be putting you to sleep. Hope you dive back in man! Keep up the great reactions. And I’ll keep doing my part by watching and sharing.
David
I second this. I knew he wouldn’t vibe to this one especially being this is his introduction to the band. He should have started with one of the songs you mentioned. Definitely needs to give them another chance.
@@kchamp8486 I feel like Them Bones would be the perfect intro song for him
It was the first song I heard and I was hooked
Legendary performance. No auto tune in the 90s
That’s it❤
Definitely do more Alice In Chains, their sound is so vast! You'll find something in every one of their songs. Also, Layne is one of the best to ever grace a mic. Period. R.I.P.
Such a powerful voice. Love and miss Layne. Bleed the Freak is a great one.
I respect your opinion "rooster" or "nutshell" might be more your style! Honestly I love 90% of their songs.
YES!!
whats the the other 10 percent?
Dude, after this reaction Rooster or Nutshell might put him to sleep even more quickly :D
I think something like Them Bones or Man in the Box would be more to his liking.
Both of those are godly!
I hope you revisit Alice In Chains!!! Nutshell
Never been this early. I stopped everything when I seen you doing Alice in Chains. Much respect.
4:30 Yea man, Layne gave me out of body experiences listening to his vocals too. He was The vocal giant of his time and genre.
Not a great beginner recommedation to Alice in Chains
Ofcourse, this is my top 10 AIC songs
But you gotta ease my boy stevie for something more commercial by them like, Rooster,Man in a Box,etc
Just my two cents
Yeah..kinda jumped into the deep end
Exactly. The way you got in a trance at the last but… that’s everything.
This is grunge, frome the 90's and if you like this mood, you should react to the early works by Alice in chains, Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Soundgarden
but he said he didnt like it..
@@johnnyseahorse3588 I think he said that it got repetitive at the end but I think he was liking it before that.
Actually alice in chains is hard rock with metal influence, and nirvana is melodic hard rock with punk, and soundgarden is classic rock. In reality grunge is not a real genre.
And mother love bone ;)
Love the open mindedness...my wife got super excited when she saw what you were reacting to...pretty sure I go hip hop overload on her
It's SO AWESOME watching your mind slowly open up to rock...I'm an OLD SCHOOL METAL HEAD and it took me almost 40 years to finally understand and appreciate what RAP/HIP HOP is all about... If you keep doing ROCK/METAL reactions you will appreciate it MORE AND MORE
AIC was most def a heavy metal band who was on the scene during the grunge era. Layne Staley's voice is otherworldly. There will never be another.
One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to!
You went to that Moore concert?? 😱
WHEW! I was holding my breath there for a minute. This is kind of a deep dive for a first run at AIC. So glad you liked it Stevie. I so admire your open mind, it's dope af. Really lovin the content.
EDIT: well kinda liked it, Spoke too soon, LOL!
Yes harmonizing!!! Alice in Chains have some of the best harmonies to come out of the 90's!!!
thank you for reminding me its time to go hit the gym :)
Have never heard anything live sound better than this. Top 10 all time favorite songs..period.
I would suggest checking out Rooster, Nutshell and/or Would? These are some of my favorite.
Also maybe check out River of Deceit by Mad Season. It's the same lead singer. RIP Layne.
Layne Staley was the king of vocal power and grit.
Yeah, not the best song to start someone out on Alice in Chains. This is more for after you've discovered more and more songs you like by them, and then come across this jewel and get blown away by Layne Staley's voice all over again. Basically how I eased my girlfriend into it haha. When she heard this live version, it was like the first time she heard Layne Staley all over again, and that's exactly how it was for me too. He just conveys the pain and dread so well, and fills the song with so much emotion. Easily makes my top singers of all time.
Alice in chains - would
This song does slow down tremendously at the end
5:53 hahahahaahah he said "he needs some tea" xDD
1:32 Stevie's like, "sh*t I'm about to bunch a devil in his throat"
Imo I think "Would?" would probably be a better introduction to AIC.
I started watching reaction videos about 6 months ago and Stevie, your my go to guy!!!!
It’s nice to see you enjoying new music!!
Man , I'm glad you are experiencing my youth! I was also raised on Dre and Snoop...it pays to have diversity!
Just raw and genuine bad ass music from the best ever.
Dude your a beast!!!! What Bicpepts...lol.Great reaction!!!
You gotta be in the right headspace to really appreciate this song, like have your heart stomped on. But its cool.
You just did a reaction to the healthy layne staley. Go watch the AIC unplugged set and I bet your first reaction will be like WOAH. Its sad how he ended up but he still could sing no matter what.
Alice In Chains on MTV Unplugged is so good!! The vocal harmonies
Layne is inspiring. So incredibly sad that ha died on the 5th of the month, but wasn't found until the 19th of the month. So very sad. One of the greatest.❤
Layne was able to distort his voice so beautifully… it was otherworldly.
"you need some tea bruh" lol
Bro said sound like he need some tea 😂😂😂
This showcases Layne's voice at his peak. Probably not the best AIC song, but for a live recording, this is incredible. The harmonies that they laid down on the track "Sickman" are also a highlight. Listen to that with good headphones, it's an aural treat.
"He screamin but it fuckin sound good" Yup, that about sums it up nicely 😁
Cemetery Gates! Pantera!
“It sounds good and painful” that perfecty suns up Laynes vocals. Ge lived the pain too so it comes from a real place
I love watching people's reactions to this live performance, you have just got appreciate this, it's better than the album version, everyone's playing, laynes singing is bang on
a lot of rock and metal artists are amazing vocalists. This gets overlooked a lot because people think they are just screaming, when in reality they are singing perfectly in tune while distorting their voice. This takes a lot of effort to master and some vocalists are capabla of perfectly blending that with clean singing (like Chester Bennington from Linkin Park or Ronnie Radke from Falling in Reverse).
There is a lot more to rock and metal than what meets the eye.
Layne has a voice of a rock god!
Man in the Box Live At Moore Theatre
you'll never regret listening to more Alice in Chains
This is my favorite song by them ❤
These guys were the soundtrack to my angsty teen years lol
*U Should've Did A Better A.I.C Song Like "Nutshell", "Would", "Don't Follow"*
I think he did a good one. But nutshell is definetly worth reacting to
Yeah...not sure why this more obscure song was picked....one of the big hits would've blown his mind
Don't Follow has been my ring tone since the day that technology existed.
Every time I see this footage from this set, I cant help but feel sad, sad at just what this world lost when Layne passed..........
That’s deep af and bout that dope
You're a real one. So was this singer.
Sunshine - Alice in Chains. Awesome song.
Would love to see you do Living Colour - Cult of Personality!!! I think you'd love it! Especially the message!
I'd also think you'd like bands like Five Finger Death Punch, Korn, Metallica, Hailstorm, Linkin Park, and many others, but start with some of them.
Good job Stevie.
Rage Against The Machine - Wake Up, Down Rodeo, Testify, Bulls On Parade.
I highly recommend lyric videos for Rage. Zach De La Rocha has BARS but it can be hard to catch sometimes with the instruments in the background.
Also Zach’s band One Day as a Lion
It may not be your type of music but you sure smiled through the whole thing. Appreciate your reaction.
Hella man keep it up!! Rakim when i b on the mic would be a cool reaction to see
Alice and chains rocks!! Love hate love
ChristieSandlin2020
Korn is something to check out for sure
Yup! You just watched rock legends my friend.
MASTER OF PUPPETS by METALLICA. Your bar skills will decipher what the MASTER and the PUPPET are. I think that would be a much more fun song to break down as you're getting out of your comfort zone. The instrumental gymnastics, breakdowns and changes throughout are also pretty nuts.
7:26 that gotta be one of the most epic moments of all history
I like the fact that you're straight up honest about what you think about the song. But yes as others have mentioned, another track might have been a better intro.
"Alice in chains is so slept on bruh. I just discovered them this year as well.
AIC with Layne was the best, his vocals are unmatched ❤
Would is a good one to check out.
I instantly take back everything I said about Rage Against the Machine I see you did Down on Rodeo
I’m afraid you have bad taste, but at the same time I appreciate the honesty! Respect lol
This song isn’t for everyone, especially if you’re not a rock music fan. You should try Man in Box, or Rooster, maybe Them Bones. All more radio friendly, and would make better intro songs. You should definitely revisit this one after getting more acclimated to the genre
This is grunge metal or grunge rock. Alice in Chains Rooster or Would. Seriously. Layne and Jerry were amazing! Nothing compares. RIP Layne
Any of the MTV Unplugged versions are a go man
This is my all time favorite song..RIP Layne Staley
This song live is really just about appreciating Layne's vocal capabilities. It's mesmerizing in that regard.
i fkin love alice in chains, excited to see stevie getting into rock/metal
You should do a video for some European cats. This is an old video, but will show you several artists you may dig. It’s called Worldwide, by Chineseman. It’s a live video. The Mc’s are Tumi(stogie t) , Taiwan Mc, and Youthstar. Enjoy, it’s 🔥
alice in chains - NUTSHELL thats the one you need
Dermot Kennedy - An Evening I Will Not Forget.
Off of the Without Fear album.
Song has so much meaning and will leaving you craving more of his music.
if you like vocals i suggest tool- right in two or the pot or lateralus
Great band. Dull track. Thanks for keeping it real.
Fun fact the singing style he does is derived from blues. Which gives it that yarl sound. Lightning Hopkins would sing like this. And a lot of great rock stars look up to the blues. Which is why they tuned their guitars half step down. Gives it a dark feeling and easier to bend the strings.
Real meaning behind the song thank you for listening even though it's not your style
My man! Cool venturing out! Before Alice there was Soundgarden, Loud Love is the best song they ever made! In case you want to try...
Epic performance.
You should check out.. bullet for my valentine - tears don't fall pt 1 & 2
You should do Nutshell Live at MTV Unplugged. Layne was on the brink of death, wearing gloves to cover the heroin tracks, comes out and throws down one of the most hauntingly beautiful performances ever. When they found him dead shortly after he was 90 lbs... RIP.
They say he was never speaking to us. He was speaking to another dimension or something. Kinda cool to think about
A love their mtv unplugged, growing up all a liked was hip hop but as got older have started to appreciate all music from pete Doherty to joy division, at minute acant stop listening to new dawn fades by joy division
Yo I wasn't really with you on the westside connection beef reaction but, I grew up with that. I've watched some of your like dicky, Royce Da 59, and a few others tonight .. . Subscribed .. also if you haven't you should get into Rage Against the Machine I would start with Killing In The Name Of or Down on Rodeo... The lead singer has done work with Run The Jewels
Jethro Tull, you might want to check out one of their actual old recorded performances first, I doubt you've ever heard somebody rock the shit out of a flute. 😊 I would suggest, Aqua long, thick as a brick, song from the woods.. there's a lot LOL it's impossible to be bored watching him, or listening to him, he is a complete performer!
This is also one of the best Alice In Chains albums, for more chill try their albums Jar of Flies or the EP Sap, great stuff. Also if you dig Layne Staley, check out Mad Season, his last band before he died. Really good. They have a live at the Moore performance as well
Rage against the machine is your next course of action
Do lyric videos of there's ahead of there time..should do a week of them you'll be shocked
Rooster...man in a box.... Why the hell was this song picked of all the great ones? Please react to one of those, your mind will be blown
Because this is one of the greats
@@daltonwashle2201 to a fan. Not to someone dipping their toe into rock
I just got into their music not long ago. Went to a korn and alice in chains concert and now I love their music. Would? I love that song
I was same way born 1980 never listened to a single rock song until I was about 35 years old. I don't even hardly listen to hip hop no more . AIC best grunge band of all time when we still had Lane nobody like him !!!!
HELL YES!!!!!! Alice in Chains is the shit!!!!! RIP layne
You doing rock now?. I might just join the patreon fam! 👍
She has longs for days I think you would like her voice "BETH HART" Am I the one👂👍 and Caught out in the rain. True alien I love all her songs.
