EVERYTHING from before 1998 was without autotuning either live or in the studio, so was done with perfect takes - ALL genres of music, just think about that for a minute, go play an old Metallica song from LOAD or something, then listen, you'll hear actual skill, even though James is not the greatest singer by tradition standards (but fkn great metal tone for vocals of most by FAR!) yet in those recordings and the Black album for example, no autotuning yet sounds perfect! Same goes for other bands, solo musicians for R&B or Pop - talent is talent, this is real, most music after 1998, especially NOW, is absolute processed autotuned trash, it is fast food music, not a meal at a restaurant or a homecooked meal.....

Love Hate Love live at the Moore is UNTOUCHABLE PERFECTION performed live by a rock band. All other rock bands should strive to have a live performance this perfect.
Actually this is not 1992. It's from December 1990. The Moore is a small theater in Seattle with GREAT acoustics.
As a song, you have to listen to it from the mindset of a sociopath.
Layne Staley's vocal range can run rings around any other grunge singer (including Chris Cornell) in my opinion. Layne could sing the phone book and never hit a wrong note. Even at the end of his life, with no teeth and a lisp, his voice, wit and humor were all still there. Layne's voice and vocal range was so powerful he did NOT need auto tune or pro-tools until he lost his teeth and had a lisp around 1998, and even then he still killed the vocals.
Barrett Martin (who played with Layne in Mad Season) said that when he stood to the side of the stage, he could hear the sound of Layne vocal resonance come out of Layne's chest LOUDER than it did coming out of the speakers, Layne's voice was that powerful.
