Dad and I purchased our first M1 Garands from CMP for $162 after shooting in the National Matches at Camp Perry in 1991. Great looking and shooting rifles.
Received my fourth expert grade M1 Garand last week. May 1942 Springfield receiver with comparably dated trigger group, bolt and action. New barrel, stock and gas cylinder. It's 81 years old and looks like new. Absolutely beautiful. Thanks CMP.

I bought one a long time ago, 5 years I think, and I couldn't be happier with it. I finished the stock and would upload a photo if I could, it's beautiful. I added a gas plug that will allow for higher pressure ammo so I don;t blow myself up along with my rifle. I bought one to honor the memory of a fellow Marine friend of mine who was at the Chosin reservoir! Merry Christmas to all get one!

Been on the fence about getting one of these expert grade models for a while now. I've been hoping that they'll come back out with the CMP special grade because I would prefer that. It seems like the only difference is the special grade has all refinished parts while the expert grade is a mix of different finishes. Is that correct? Is there any chance they will be making special grades again?
