Growing up in Canadian elementary and high school this song was a staple every Remembrance Day. Brings me to tears every time I hear it, thank you for this review that reminded me to remember them.

In Ottawa, on Remembrance Day after the ceremony regular people place the poppies they have been wearing on the Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier. It is quite a moving thing to see little children placing poppies carefully on the tomb, always brings up a lump in my throat.

Remembrance Day was originally "Armistice Day" which started in 1919. It was originally meant to commemorate those of the commonwealth who died in World War 1. That is why is occurs on November 11th. At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 the "War To End All Wars" ended. The "soldiers" that march through the store are members of "Woodbine Legion" in Toronto and yes they are all veterans. Terry Kelly, like the Trews' "Highway of Heroes" is from Nova Scotia and is an honorary officer at CFB Greenwood in Nova Scotia for his work for veterans. The symbolism of the vets fading away is something that should never happen.

Hello, I just happened to come across your channel. I won't reiterate what's been said, except check out The Highway of Heroes by The Trews. It's very powerful. That Highway is now across Canada.

The first veteran where you stopped to see them appear was a paratrooper. They are all veterans in this video.

Because that isn't how reaction videos work. That would violate every songs copyright.

November 11 used to be Armistice Day in USA also. Sadly (IMHO) it was renamed Veterans Day under President Eisenhower after
WW II because the USA memorializes its soldiers lost on the field on our Memorial Day at the end of May (dating back to our Civil War in the 1860’s).
I learned of Nov 11 as Armistice Day from my dad, a WW II Marine who had grown up with it as Armistice Day.
Anyway, I saw Terry Kelly’s performance some years back now, and greatly appreciate it.
Thanks to all who remember the vets who fought for us!
