What baffles me the most is seeing 60 60-year-olds who seem perfectly fine with having worked full-time for longer than I have been alive. I can personally not imagine working for the rest of my life.

As an autistic who becomes physically sick from lying , calling out was agonizing when it involved meltdowns or sensory overload (which I didn't understand throughout my time attempting to function and work for/in society as I've only been diagnosed for about a year and began self employment intermittently not long beforehand). I would usually push myself, increase the meltdown frequency and intensity, get fired for being too emotional along with chronically 5-15 minutes late. Been fired from all but 2 jobs, only one of those those of which I left on good terms. Employment in capitalist hell was excruciating.
Thank you for your vulnerability and validation.

I didn't think anybody else got ill from being disingenuous. Glad I'm not alone.

I hope you are able to find safety in your mind and environment enough to express your authenticity if you haven't already 💕

Ugh american service jobs seem so awful. I grew up in france and now live in sweden, both places where the people are perceived as rude by foreigners, but at least they are not made to smile 24/7 ! That is inhumane. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

omg.. I had a whole day of fun stuff planned yesterday, but i had to go to the doc early morning then the vet just before noon... i was so exhausted afterwards i couldnt get anything else done. social interactions, even minimal, can be so draining.

that sort of thing happens to me a lot as well. i’m not always the best at managing my expectations 😅 i always have high hopes for what i’ll be able to accomplish in a day and a lot of the times i just don’t have that much energy.

So what jobs do you think would be good for neurodivergent people? Asking for myself. lol

that’s a great question 😅 i know many of us are also wondering the same thing. everyone is different but i’m beginning to think many of us are happier being self employed or at least having a work from home job where we are in control of our environment. and also perhaps a job where we are able to work on our own..something where we have a little more freedom to do things in a way that works best for us. also jobs where we create our own schedule because i feel like that definitely helps relieve a lot of stress. so i guess jobs that have some kind of element that allows us to create a structure that better fits our needs.

The best job for myself has been amazon. It depends on what building , but I’m currently working where I have zero social interaction and the training process is wonderful for autistic people. They show u an example, have you do it, then do it by yourself while a program checks on you / gives you advice. E z p z
