Really glad you liked the book! Ben's style is really his own, his use of guache paints and water directly on canvas give everything a really surreal look that enhances his wavy and curving linework. If you're looking to check out more of his stuff, Fell is my favorite series he did along with Warren Ellis from Image comics, surreal set of Detective stories involving very strange cases. It's on Hoopla!
The man Bunk! I was already excited to read this but you got me more excited with your comment on my haul that this was featured in. And oh yes I will be checking that out! Ben really MADE this series for me. That’s not saying Niles wasn’t talented but I found myself finding more flaws in the writing than the art. That’s mainly because the art was so beyond fitting to this story, it truly sold the narrative and setting to me!

Loved the movie, but chose to skip the book but now I’m not sure if I should of because of how highly you talked about the art. Which I initially didn’t love but now I’m having second thoughts.

Idk this was getting a deluxe edition I’ll definitely have to get it I heard it’s better than the movie and fun fact he wanted to make the movie first but he made the comic instead and good review!! I’ll have to pick this up the art looks gorgeous!!
It’s on par with the movie In my opinion but the art is incredible! And YEP! Niles was turned down multiple times when trying to turn 30 days of night into a movie and eventually decided to just do a comic. Great Fact To Add!
The original is a 3 issue series yes but it has a multitude of sequels and spin offs that are collected in these deluxe editions which is why there’s another volume.
First off, that's a great Cthulhu Tshirt. Absolutely loved the movie, great atmosphere and the vampires are the monsters they should be. Saw this deluxe edition in my local comic shop, it looks a nice book on the shelf and a great price for what you get, unfortunately the unique art style is not for me and I will be giving this one a miss.

All I can say now is maybe give it a chance online (for free using Hoopla or something) if you can because the art SOLD me while reading and became my favorite part of this book when I thought for sure I’d hate it. But also Not convincing you to read something you don’t like! just sharing that my story with this was pretty similar to yours and I only wanted it due to liking the movie. Yet somehow I came out the other side with the art being the best part for me.
