JayLord thank you ☺
youre a saint
I think all band is post emo indie rock but Jimmy eat world are pop punk even though it's emo or emo pop but at least u got band right
@@Xskramz_archivistX Jimmy Eat World belongs here.
@@pechondelgado agreed. I saw Jimmy Eat World open for the Promise Ring in like 1998 or something. People either forget they're emo, don't want them to be, or disregard the fact.
Empire empire ( I was a lonely estate) is such a great underated band
CITY LIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!
If it's one thing I could thank my 'emo phase' back in 011 for, it would be introducing me to this genre of music. Lots of people think it's depressing but I find it relaxing.
Lesbian-Cookie exactly it’s so relaxing
The only plus about being from the Midwest is this genre lmao
The Appleseed cast is just in another level, they're so magical.
Saw every band live except for 3 in the first half of the video and only saw one of the bands in the second. That was great few years. I still listen to many of the albums on a monthly basis.
Also for the 90's....The Jazz June, Mock Orange and Jejune.
Moss icon, Policy of 3, Hoover and the anniversary are other bands from that date.
Prawn is the best of them.
This is a good playlist for people with short attention spans.
Benton Falls were amazing, anyone now where are they now?
what about tiny moving parts?
Mike and Tim Kinsella, of course, being in like half of these bands
Oh lord, Christie Front Drive... I adore those guys.
IN KINSELLA WE TRUST.
Man, Marietta was around in these olden times, they deserve a shout out
True, they got me in love with the genre
Brand New! What an amazingly clever band
I listen to this video on repeat, like it's one big song. Great song selections.
Mock Orange is essential to this list, my good friend! Otherwise, awesome picks!
I am the 1000th like. Emo Elmo is in town. Behold.
btw, Penfold, Christie Front Drive, The Get Up Kids are my favs.
wow those guitarists from Algernon Cadwallader, good stuff
Some friends of mine have gotten back together and started doing some shows. IF you get a chance check out King For A Day. great midwest emo band from the middle to late 90s. really great music.
the world is
Kitty kitty cat, skinny neck hex 🙃
Jimmy eat world was a emo band?? o_O
They were also included on the first "Emo diaries" compilation by Deep Elm Records in 1997.
Clarity is one of the best emo albums of all time
Tfrne clarity does a very good job of representing the 90’s emo Scene
They were Midwest emo, aka an indie rock band that took influence from emotive hardcore. Jimmy eat world talk about this the book on emo Nothing Feels Good, where Jim Adkins talks about being influenced by emo bands such as Current, Julia, Indian Summer, Still Life, Embassy, Plunger, and Split Lip. The movement Jimmy Eat World was a part of, alongside acts like Jejune, Braid, The Promise Ring, Boys Life, Giants Chair, Christie Front Drive, The Crownhate Ruin, Texas is the Reason, Boilermaker, Seven Storey Mountain, Brandtson, Camber, etc etc basically every band in this video, was a form of indie rock that borrowed sonic elements of emo, like the arpeggiated guitars, octave chords, and huge crescendos exploding into raw screaming, which was pretty much the core of emo. Most these bands abandoned that element though, the hardcore punk element that makes it emo, after their early releases, and played straight up indie pop rock. Even though they were still "Midwest emo" aka post-emo indie rock, they got the label of emo by the mainstream despite constantly refuting it (this is why then the fans of real emo bands started calling them screamo, but that didn't last very long before it also got stolen by the mainstream).
Their handful of 7-inch releases between Static Prevails and Clarity are quintessential 2nd wave emo. The song The Most Beautiful Things is a masterpiece of the era.
Was this inspired by Sv3rige’s videos?
wow i'm revisiting this video like a year and a half after i first watched it and i just realized this is where i found all of my favorite bands
thanks, this is great! perfect list. Empire Empire and The World is a Beautiful Place are my favorite new indie emo bands. But I thought piebald was an emotive hardcore band from the early 90's? I'm not entirely sure though.
+patrick miller Their first album was in 96. I think continued untill 2012 or so.
hightide hotel and dowsing are some good current bands
patrick miller porch luck!!!
The Lazarus Plot for sure
can you just put the song titles in the description?
Cap n' jazz was gold, so many ppl tried to copy that sound, they all failed, Get up Kids, SDRE, good list, but gotta say Cap n Jazz, although I think that was more east coast, New York emo, but all good bands, say one or two,
Cap'n Jazz was from Chicago. That's considered midwest for some reason but I don't think we should limit "emo" to midwest because there were a ton of good east coast and west coast bands in the 90's and beyond.Jaycee J.
Jay Harris i did not say Cap N Jazz was from anywhere else read what i wrote "moar better" lol
sweet list :) for the more modern ones, I recommend Foxing quite highly. What Christie song is this? It might be the best I heard from them
Algernon cadwallader and empire empire were some of the best bands ever! why is it that these emo bands never stay together long?
Strictly ballroom band
oh ok, I did some research and piebald was an emotive hardcore band in the 90's, then became more indie emo
This is an awesome list
♥
Glad that Mineral is mentioned
Actually can you do a full track list maybe? All these songs are amazing but I only know a few
this stuff is awesome. melancholy tastyness n such
Can anyone tell me the songs by Christie Front Drive and Sunny Day Real Estate please?
+jcleaverchamberlinjr Sunny Day Real Estate - Song about an Angel
Christie Front Drive - Radio
+newbands1 Cool. Thanks
This is like my favorite video of all time now
benton falls!
What is the name of band after Rainer Maria?
I love Jawbreaker, great addition!
Holy shit this is weird. The first 4 bands I looked up, they ALL broke up in 1997. what kind of conspiracy is this?
1997 was a rough year for good music.
just strange irony. completely unrelated bands all breaking up the same year
my playlist!
U forgot armor for sleep
I’m surprised Midwest Pen Pals isn’t in here
Lol u forgot some of the best stuff, camping in alaska, midwest pen palls, old grey, merchant ships, etc.
What's the song by boys life?
Andrea Acevedo fire engine red
Modern Baseball isn’t emo and it’s pretty obvious when you listen to the video you can hear how much of an outlier their music is compared to the rest.
Neither is Joan of Arc tbh
All of the Negatives is the best Boys Life song
texas is the reason que buenos que son por dios
Dude, this is a really good playlist
Marietta? 😭
i feel you man
Emocore vs midwest emo
_brave little abacus_

@Luis Meraz it was sarcastic D:
important video.
Penfold is so good
最高っす
what were the penfold and Texas is the reason songs?
Texas is the Reason - Johnny on the Spot
miss the Moss Icon
Penfold is the best of the list, change my mind
Wow you put a mainstream band like Jimmy Eat World up there. So unlike you Sverige!
Man, it's sad to see how many don't know the definition of Emo.
ok
angrycomputer1994 ikr, like the fact that "indie emo" and "'Midwest emo" aren't actually emo
what's the song of the get up kids?
I'm a Loner Dottie, A Rebel
Thank you so much!
newbands1 you should put the names of the song in the description or something

bright eyes
There is no such thing as a genre called Emo. It was an insult to describe post hardcore punk. These bands considered themselves to be post hardcore punk. Stop using this term for poseurs.
Jay Nice denying emo is the poseur move actually, unless you're in an emo band yourself, then you just say it's hardcore, even if you were playing indie rock like Sunny Day Real Estate. But seriously, most of these bands are actually indie rock.
Can't change the term man. It's like the emo subculture, the fashion statement. Whenever you say the word emo, what comes to our mind is the eyeliners and long hairs.
Yes they are. Emo is short term of *Emotive Hardcore/Punk rock. Emotional cutting wrist song is far from this genre.🤣🤣🤣
I would also add Ordination of Aaron from Kalamazoo MI
Cap n' Jazz song please? And Mineral too:))
+Gustavo Virili Cap'n Jazz's song is called Little League. I'm afraid I don't know the Mineral one.
mineral - parking lot
