    Thank you so much for this tutorial. I watched 4 videos and lets just say some people know how to crochet cables but not how to teach beginners how to crochet cables. You had verbal queues, light yarn and background, the pattern for each row was listed on-screen, you told us which row you were on, you slowed down your crocheting so we could see what you were doing and where each stitch was going, I mean just little things that you might not think of if you are not a true teacher. So thank you because now I understand cables.😊

    So excited for this tutorial Yvonne! Question: would this pattern/style work with a bulky yarn? I just got a bunch of 5 and 6 weight yarn to make hats and scarves. Some is Bernat Blanket, Homespun etc. Appreciate any recommendations, I have a LOT of people to make things for this Christmas!

      Hi there! Woo Hoo! So glad you are excited! I haven't had a chance to try this with #5 or #6 yarn yet. I would recommend trying the 1st complete Repeat (Row 1-6) then see how you like it. Thinking Homespun might work good. Let me know how it works out. Thank you so much for watching.

    I cannot get my cables to stay cably except for the very 1st cable. After that, the cables straighten out after the repeat of row 6. I've backed up and checked my work, but I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong

    • @yvonnemetz1
      @yvonnemetz1  4 года назад

      OH Noooo.....sorry to hear you're having trouble. Hmmm....are you skipping the 2 stitches when you start your next round for the cable? Hopefully we can figure this out. Thank you for watching.

    • @kimberlywade3308
      @kimberlywade3308 4 года назад

      CraftSea Creations hi! Thank you for responding. I am skipping 2 stitches when I start my cable. And I figured out that in my subsequent cables I had accidentally started my cable in stitch 4, then 3, then 1 and 2 (if we count as we skipped), and I went back and corrected so I started in stitch 3, then 4 and 1 and 2. (I hope I explained that well.)
      When I finish the row with the cables, the cables are present. I can see the twists. It's as I go through the next rows of BPDC and FPDCs that the cable seems to straighten itself out.

    Really wish you had mentioned sizing in the beginning rather than the end. Now I used the hook you said in the beginning and dont like the big scarf and would prefer more definition. That really should be in the beginning rather than the end. Just saying. :/

    • @yvonnemetz1
      @yvonnemetz1  4 года назад

      Hi Ashley, thanks for your feedback. However at the beginning of the video I do mention the previous hook I used for the samples shown. (J) For Scarfs you can have as wide or as narrow as you'd like. I do mention trying the "K" hook that I used in this video. That's why I also mention at the end of the repeat that'd I'd be back with suggestions. I had no idea how this swatch was going to come out. Happy Holidays to you and Thanks for watching. ; )
