Reason this expressway is planned because.. 1.Floods in Kolhapur.l,In 2019 because of floods, Pune Banglore Highway was clossed,India faced loss in thousand crores rupees.. So, this expressway will pass through Sangli district especially drought region.. 2.Ghats section,This Expressway will not have much ghat section.Therefore,It will reduce time travel and accidents.. Note-In Sangli district it will have interchange with Shaktipeeth Expressway .. Thanks❤
We should add a spur to Udupi/Managluru as well. In addition to serving a major population centre, it adds faster road connectivity between defence establishments in Pune and Mangalore area. This spur highway to Mangalore can also be extended on the other side, to connect with the Surat-Chennai expressway.
Why not make it a double decker expressway - like Railways on the lower deck and road on upper deck. Railways can start a high speed non stop train between these 2 cities

@sowmitriswamy6718 unfortunately, the route of the express highway does not go through/near the same cities as the existing route for the major portion of the road. The old road would be better to go to these cities. It is mostly 6-lane but access control is weak. It is a good thing, it has reduced the overall distance between Pune and Blr from 840 to 720 Km.
That's what good and interesting that it's not again going by same NH 48 route where already cities connected and getting industrial development. They planned new Green Field road connectivity to new places which are important for their socio economic development. Else only Hubli Belagavi Davangere Tumkur keep developing not other neglected parts of the state.
I challenge Indian Road developers & any party politicians on development of city roads. No one in India can do the proper development of City roads. Now presently the city road conditions are worse than the hill station man accessed ways. Now understand where are we?

Reason is Business and Development. The cities which are growing rapidly getting pointed out where many ppl travel between those cities by air, rail and public or private road transport. Whereas Kolkata was one such city in past but unfortunately it's been out of race now . Im a regular commuter of NH48 specially between Belgaum to Bengaluru!! I see this stretch almost under utilised apart from Tumkur to Bengaluru. So, when this is under utilised I'm just not understanding the need for one more Greenfield highway for the same route???
Brother that NH 48 is lengthy route with many speed constraints for Bengaluru to Pune and Mumbai. That's old British survey planned according to their business connections in olden days. Now this new green field highway is new short route for Bengaluru to Pune Mumbai with good speed as road lies away from populated areas.

There is very little policing of expressways, unlike, say, the US. That is all it takes for people to follow road rules.
