Lots of metal singers have got range and power (Tarja or Floor), but Su's one of the few singers I know that can be that expressive of emotions in her singing. From her facial expressions, the pained smile, to how she's singing with slight hesitation like she's choked up with emotion.... She's not just a vocalist.... That's one of the many reasons I like her, she doesn't just sing a song, she performs it... From facial expressions, to her own interpretive dance moves, its a whole package.... If a western pop singer sings a sad ballad, they might just lower their eyes a bit, a slight frown... When Su does it (like in Akatsuki Unfinished or No Rain No Rainbow), you can hear the cracking of her voice, the slight choking back a sob, the sad tearful expression... Better than some hollywood actresses. 🤘🦊🤘
I've joked, Su-metal's instrument isn't vocals, it's heart strings. 🙂

You were correct with the headbanger callout, as this was the song just after and she started it in the same position as the end of headbanger. Then it went on to Death and the outro lore. The same song, in two wildly different performances. One day they will do the unfinished version again...one day..(probably not lol)
Seems like I am watching these all in the wrong order lol. Akatsuki is such an emotional song. I really enjoyed it

@@Hokkyo11 Nawww you are doing great. Personally I prefer that someone hop around the timeline and not just go start to finish, especially with your double react method.
As someone else said, the ave maria intro and headbanger remix that started this concert will be a cool deep cut for you to do one day, but there's a lot out there still to do like The One, Trilogy of Lights, etc etc.
@@Hokkyo11 the order only really matters for the trilogy of light, that should be watch it in order: first Starligh, then Shine, then Arkadia

The unfinished version always reminds me, as they say: vocals is an other instrument, but she doesn't play vocals, she plays heart strings.
A fantastic song in both versions. The so called unfinished version with the emotional singing suits Su's voice better and i prefer it. The "Band" version is so powerful, it' s one of a kind Metal Ballad. I know Babymetal since Gimme Chocolate came out but i ignored the Band to December last year and now... Babymetal is the best and greatest Band in the World and Su's voice make me smile and lost in tears all at the ssame time. I'm 63 and a musician by myself but never ever thought that a band make me so happy, rockin' and emotional at the same time. And it starts with Doki Doki Morning and a song about eating chocolate! As this old person i am, i can prove: Chocolate is important, since and ever!

My interpretation to unfinished version is the scene after Su-idol died, and before Su-metal reborn. She was just still a vulnerable spirit. And now, you've got to see Headbanger 15 Mix with Ave Maria Intro.😂
By the way, in Babymetal Death in Legend 1997 concert, Su was the only one got the legendary neck brace. However, in another live performance, legend 1999 concert, while Su singing No Rain No Rainbow, Yui and Moa also got the legendary neck brace, which means that Yui & Moa follow Su's steps and sacrificed themselves too. That's why in recent Babymetal Death, all three of them showed up on the crosses.

wow two of Su metals special moments in a row,great choice to do both the unfinished legend 97 and Budokan black night,now you need to see Rondo of Nightmare from Budokan black night the same night she did Akatsuki the Kami band intro is incredible the guys blow the roof of the building and Su following them is amazing 🦊
A most excellent reaction! Akatsuki at Budokan (2014) is my very first favorite Babymetal song and my favorite version and my favorite Su-metal death glare. Akatsuki unfinished version hits me in so deep in the feels. It is usually watched in double vision caused by teared up eyes. Especially when Su drops to her knees and chokes up while singing. It is too beautiful. 🤘🦊🤘

One of the most powerful SuMetal solo, there's another special version live at Budokan 2021 you will understand after watching another version at Legend IDZ 2012/2013 or Dark Night Carnival 2018.

Akatsuki is the only Babymetal song that can sometimes beat Megitsune in fan polls for favourite song. It is one of the four songs that Su-metal sings solo, the others being "No Rain, No Rainbow", "Amore", and "Rondo Of Nightmare".
Budokan 2021 was the last time it was performed live, but prior to that it hadn't been performed since 2018. No-one knows if and when she will perform it again.

I think you have reacted to Headbanger and Babymetal death from this concert. Since you’ve done that trilogy you should check out the trilogy of light. It is the 3 final songs on the Metal Galaxy album; Starlight, Shine, and finally Arkadia.
To be honest, I don't understand where this moniker comes from. Headbanger has definitely nothing to do with death, and for Akatsuki it's at least debatable. I don't see any connection.

Akatsuki unfinished version destroys me everytime 😭, but it enriches the experience of the subsequent full version performances and we get to see Su evolve into Queen Su.

Around 5:10, did you realize there was mascara running down her eyes? SHe actually did start crying at that point.
The first video, was the Unfinished version, and it was performed only that time. THere are some epic versions and performances of songs, that are only done once or just a couple of times.
Like for example, you already did a reaction to headbanger, and you saw the live version where they gave Moametal the mic to sing in the second part.
There is another version of Heabanger, called "Night of 15 mix" that was only played twice.

Yes, Akatsuki should be read as Crimson Moon rather than the mundane/everyday meaning of dawn/daybreak. And the Red Thread of Fate goes pinky to pinky. The unfinished version ends before the defiant last line: "Dye crimson! Dye bloody crimson!" leaving us with only the heartache of loss.😭
Definitely worth watching is the Nyango Star drum cover of Akatsuki. Even the outfit is matching.

Well, "Akatsuki" (the "regular" version) is my absolute favorite song and these two are my absolute favorite live performances. I'm into power metal, I'm a die-hard BABYMETAL fan and I stan Su-metal unconditionally... so, it was written and I had no choice. 🤣 No, really, it totally resonates with me and I consider this absolute perfection. I suggest everyone to check out the bass lines. BOH played it during a livestreaming and it's just amazing. It's something we tend to underestimate.

I like the camera shot at 10:52 with a slightly blurred BOH in the background. Perfect composition for this moment in the song.
The unfinished version always gets me….unfortunately, they only ever played it at Legend 1997 and yes, Su showing us her incredible ability to express feelings with her voice.

Agreed - I was kinda hoping this would be the second shot on the "First Take" - not a personal fan of The One when it's in English - although I guess for their domestic market it's exactly what they'd like
excellent reaction Hokkyo-Metal, actually there are a couple more versions with the metal, one has Su fighting a younger version of herself during the guitar solos and still another version has the Muscle-Metal ladies doing a top notch fight scene during the guitar solos.

Great double reaction again.🤘The two versions could almost be completely different songs despite exactly the same melody and words (apart from the last line, Su does not sing that in the 'unfinished' version).

Not to state the obvious, but Su-Metal is remarkable. Both versions are wonderful, but the "unfinished" version gets me every time...and she was only 16 at the time. Again, remarkable...

The Red Thread of Fate is an East Asian belief originating from Chinese mythology. It is commonly thought of as an invisible red cord around the finger of those that are destined to meet one another in a certain situation as they are "their one true love". (Wikipedia) Su holds up her pinky finger, it means that the person she is in love with has died and the thread has been broken.
