  • Fans of Atelier now have an easy way to jump all the way back in the series, in the form of the adorable Atelier Marie Remake! Thanks to a code from Koei Tecmo, I was able to play this cute little game prior to release and thanks to my love of Atelier, I’m sure I’ll be playing it well after as well. Hope you enjoy hearing why in this video, and feel free to let me know your Atelier Marie thoughts in the comments!

    Yay I was looking forward to your review I love that the game lets you choose the non-time limit mode, I'm a casual player of this series and I have struggled to keep up with the limit in the past. Also the artstyle is goooorgeus, I'm broke now but it's definitely on my 'to play' list

    Having only played the more modern mysterious and Ryza games so far I’m looking forward to seeing the origins of the series. May be a while until I get to it as there’s a lot of releases coming in the near future but will be nice to have this available as a palate cleanser as it’s a charming relaxing game and relatively short.

    It looks really well, I’ll get it eventually. If anything from this review the only small nitpick I could think of is that during synthesis the liquid doesn’t seem to move as you stir it which seems like a weird oversight for something you’ll be seeing often.

      That’s super cool, the way you’re going to play :) the code I got sent had the just Remake, but the original is on smartphone here so I just bought that to have it. It’s surprisingly fun, even if it definitely feels older! I don’t mind the menu-based gameplay, it still feels simple but responsive so it’s fun :3

    I've been interested in checking this entry out, as I loved the Ryza trilogy as well as Sophie and Sophie 2 (I've also been looking at picking up Firis and Lydie&Suelle in the coming future). However, it's difficult to stomach paying $50 for a game as short and simplistic as this is. The short length does give this game the benefit of being much more replayable than other entries, and also means it's not a massive time sink, so those are two big benefits. However, it just *feels* like this should've been more akin to a $30 game at most. Hopefully it will go on sale sometime soon, as it's still yet to have a sale on any platform.

    I wonder how JRPG Jungle is going to cope once she's played the whole series. I forget how many she's got left that she hasn't played, but to my knowledge, its the ones that weren't localized originally minus this one that she's played now, the Iris trilogy, and Mana Khemia 2. If/when she has played all of those, is she going to go back and replay the ones she's played, or is she just gonna wait until the next one(by next, I mean new one) comes out?

    • @JRPGJungle
      @JRPGJungle  Год назад +1

      That’s a good question haha I would actually love to play the whole series again in order, but I’m not sure if time will be that kind to me…lol
      I definitely want to play the entire series, whether it gets localized/remade or not. To play them in order would be a wonderful luxury, but at the very least I want to play them all (even if I play newer ones in between as they release). More remakes would greatly help; I do have older consoles waiting around if it doesn’t happen though (but remakes are great excuses to do it sooner rather than later :33)
      In saying that, I already kinda wanna replay the Ryza trilogy to see how it flows and Arland is one I actually have a lot of endings I still haven’t seen. It’s just time >< lol The latter I definitely hope to try again with more Atelier knowledge; I’d also like to have the dream Nelke playthrough where I know all the characters. Let’s hope one day :3

    Honestly this is looking much better than I expected off the first presentation.
    I myself am glad of it having a unlimited mode, I don't like time limits in general as they make me feel pressured (they didn't exactly prevent me from enjoying older games, but still).
    However, as plat grinder, I do wonder how the trophy list will look and if it'll require Normal mode regardless

    • @JRPGJungle
      @JRPGJungle  Год назад

      That’s an interesting point; I haven’t seen the trophy list as I think it isn’t public yet. I did pop some trophies while playing of course though and just assumed they were for any mode. But it will be interesting to see for sure, probably tomorrow :3

    • @worldiefeard8396
      @worldiefeard8396 11 месяцев назад

      well, the trophy list as expected did end up requiring to play through the normal mode since some events are apparently only available in that one. I'll deal with it :P
      Game looks cute but I still think it's way overpriced at 50 bucks for what it is. One of these "grab on sale" options, I suppose :\

    Is Marie a good introduction to the Atelier series?

    • @JRPGJungle
      @JRPGJungle  7 месяцев назад

      I think so, it's a simple way to learn the base mechanics of synthesis and the game flow, and is probably a better introduction to the older Atelier games (Arland, the Mysterious trilogy, etc) because it introduces the time limit, whereas newer ones don't :3 just depends what you're looking for in the series really; if you like the look of the cinematic newer games, I'd probably recommend going with Ryza. But I loved Marie's simplicity and it is technically so first game in the entire series, so you can't go wrong :) hope that answers your question!

    Hi Tara, do you think I can start playing Atelier Ryza 3 without having played 1 and 2?

    • @JRPGJungle
      @JRPGJungle  11 месяцев назад +1

      I mean you always can; I can never say no to that cause I started Atelier in the third of the Mysterious trilogy :3 I would really recommend playing the first two in this case though - a lot of value comes from having watched Ryza and the group of characters grow, so if you’re a story fan at all, I think you get way more out of it having played the other two (and Atelier does final trilogy games so well, it’s a really good reward at the end of a trilogy :3)
      I hope that answers your question! It’s hard cause gameplay gets better in every Atelier so Ryza 3 is definitely the best Atelier game out right now. So just keep that in mind and make your decision ^__^

    • @JRPGJungle
      @JRPGJungle  Год назад +1

      It is short in comparison, yes, I think part of that is cause it’s the first Atelier game and it’s more mechanic heavy rather than story. I liked the combat! It’s a little different to newer Ateliers as you have to hire adventurers, but once I found two adventurers who did directional attacks I found battles fun and satisfying (there were a few optional bosses that were fun to make big bombs to beat :3)
