I switched from Firestone to Michelin and had to panic stop just short of a Ford Pinto. The Firestone not only would not have stopped as well but swerved erratically when I panic stopped with them. (The reason I switched) Those Michelins paid for themselves with that one stop.
Everyone can think what they want, but she was DEFINITELY sponsored by Mechelin. As someone else said, if Mehelin hosted you for a day to skid around their test track and most likely offer you tons of free stuff, you'd say their stuff was the best too. With all the Michelin products around, the Michelin track and everything else. They're trash talking goodyear. I've been using Goodyear Wrangler tires since I started driving, and have not been in a single accident because of the tires themselves! I have not been in a single accident that was MY fault! I've only been in 3 accidents in my 22 years of driving and none of them was my fault, none of them was because of the tires. I was rear ended twice, once at a red light, and once right in front of my driveway in the snow because the driver behind me couldn't stop and I've been T-boned on the driver side. I don't go off roading. The furthest I get off roading is possibly driving over a curb, grass and some gravel. And that is RARE. I stick to pavement. I do a lot of highway driving. I do drive in the snow, but I'm not tracking through 5 feet of snow on unplowed roads. At most there's 4" of snow on the road and my Goodyear Wrangler tires perform well. No matter what tire you have, you're still going to skid in heavy rains and snow. You're not going to stop on a dime. And for tests like this to promote a certain brand, of course they're using the BEST of the brand to promote what they wish and the worst of other brands. Unknown to the "blinded/uneducated" driver testing the tires out. (She gave me the impression that she knew NOTHING about tires and their performance before doing this road test. Did you notice that they didn't show you the treads of EITHER tire they were using? We don't even know if it was the same/similar tread. All we can see/hear is what they WANT us to see/hear. I'm not saying Goodyear is the best tire out there. There are better tires out there for performance, mud, and snow. Absolutely. But for the 80% of the population that drives like a normal person and not like an asshole, Goodyear tires are great for pavement driving. For the people who like to go off roading, there are tires for that. For the people who have enough cash to change tires out for winter and the rest of the year, there are tires for that. For the people who have enough cash to replace their tires because they do stupid things like burnouts every day, I'm glad you have the extra money to "waste" by replacing tires, and there are tires for that. Everyone has their own opinions, everyone has their own preference, everyone is going to have some hate to throw towards different companies. It has nothing to do with being "cheap" or spending a fortune. If you like the tires that came with your vehicle then buy them again, if you don't like them, get new ones. It's that simple. I base my tire ratings on how well they perform in snow. All tires are basically the same when it comes to dry roads and water, that is if you don't drive like an asshole like they were trying to promote in this video. I'm sorry, but ANYONE with children don't go around turns and curves as fast as she was with children in the vehicle! That's just driving irresponsibly with your family in the car! AKA driving like an asshole. And anyone can see that without judgment on the tires themselves.
First off you have to make sure you're comparing apples to apples . I noticed that Michelinpacifically went out of their way not to specify which Goodyear tires are being tested . The premier all-season are exceptionally good tires . But if you test it a standard Goodyear non all season of course you're not going to do as good as a premier . The Goodyear make some outstanding car for what traction also . This clearly was not a fair test .
Which series of tires from Michelin and Goodyear? Specifics please! Both manufacturers make more than one series of all season tires. Apples to apples, or apples to oranges? I would only trust test results from a third party that is unbiased. This test is obviously sponsored and staffed by Michelin employees. Although the driver may be completely neutral, there are too many factors, such as tire pressure, remaining tread wear, etc, that directly impact testing results. Other questions arise when you consider the vehicles used for testing. Yes, they may both be Toyota Camry's (or whatever), but are they both identical? Depending on mileage and how they were previously driven, one may have better brakes and shocks than the other. All of these factors impact the handling and stopping ability of the car. That is why it is safer to consider testing information from an independent third party organization.
I have a client I detail for. He was an engineer at GM, and worked at the GM Tech Center. He said that no matter what was changed with braking componentry, Michelin tires were the biggest factor in in reduced braking distances. They also wear like iron..
Had Michelins on my vehicle when purchased it new. They lasted 15k miles. Got a 2nd set through warranty from GM and they made it 25k miles. Yeah, tire shopping now and won’t be purchasing Michelins. 😡😡
Keep in mind This is Michelin’s test track. She’s sponsored by Michelin. Of course their gonna make goodyear look bad. Keep in mind of the comments here are Michelin stans. And what tire compounds were you using. You could have been using the worst Goodyear’s or snow tires. I prefer bf goodrich
Michelin bias. I have a Chevy Cruze with 5 year old Michelin and about 20k miles on them, they are cracked in the tread and sidewall entirely. They may last on a big truck that puts 60+ k miles a year because the rubber is so damn hard. And the ride in cold weather sux for the first few miles until the flat spots go away. In a truck no one cares, but in a passenger vehicle we do care. Goodyear uses softer rubber and oils in the rubber that help them last for cars that sit and ride superb for the daily drivers. I'm not being paid to say this, I'm just an old mechanic and ordinary citizen that's owned many vehicles from HD trucks to cars and the best thing of all is Goodyear is MADE IN THE USA!
I had Michelin Premier A/S for 4 years and I can certify they are complete garbage. Barely got 45k and Michelin advertised 60k warranty. Yes all the balancing, rotations and alignments were properly and regularly done
@The Tech Librarian Costco told me to get with Michelin on proration.. yuck. Discount tire will prorate towards any brand and they do it in house. You might have to have warranty purchased though
@@MrKcool25 well I do know this. Costco handles there warranty in house. Where tire dealers do it though the manufacture, a double edge sword. I wouldn’t say Michelin yuk I mean you really only have 1 or 2 other brands to pick from that are at the top of the tire game. But like anything they make a range. I would of ran them if it was summer though, some cars / roads just eat tires.look at the Tesla folks getting 10/20k out of there tires
There are no specifics about the models of tires tested. This is also being done at a Michelin test site. I'd say this is a paid PR shill. Oh and before you complain, I actually have Michelin tires for my winter tires and tires from another brand too for my summer tires.
Yea , that' s why you buy pirelli, continental, goodyear and other good tire makers instead. This is not a test, this is a mommy, not a tire tester. Nice acting although.

Paid by Michelin, tested on their facility. She has no clue about tires, breaks two times and the results are alarming?! The vlogers and influecenrs are not objective, it's just about who pays more.
You didn't show anything why Michelin is better...you just give your opinion....bad video...I have a sour experience with the michelin pilot in my M3....on my Benz I have Goodyear eagle sport a/s....they are very good tires.
Michelin? Definitely would pass on those Sarah... 2005 United States Grand Prix, all the Michelin entries withdrew before the race started. Bridgestone/Firestone did NOT have that issue.
2005? Welcome to the year 2019. Since you seem to be stuck in time, I will provide you with some info. Firestone tires were recalled due to major issues with tread separation.
You know we all pull multiple Gs through a turn on tires that wear out in under 100 miles on an embankment with a course surface. Pirelli can't sell me on a tire that is on Hamilton's car, because it has no relationship with the products that I'm in the market for. I pretty much give Michelin's line the nod over everything else for street use for their behavior not just when new, but as they wear. When I get asked for a recommendation it'll always be my response. Goodyears makes okay tires and great tires depending on the model. Certainly not my favorite, but I like certain models of their tires.
I believe the US grand prix track changed the surface of the track on the banked corner without allowing Michelin to test the tyres on the new surface. Michelin don't take risks with safety so withdrew.
I have a set of Goodyear eagle RS-A 225/55 R18 on a Mitsubishi Outlander GT and they suck. They feel like their made out of plastic, instead of rubber. They hydroplane in the rain. The Outlander is all-wheel-drive and I have felt all the wheel spin while driving over puddles.
