First time hearing this. The bass player is my stepdad, Louie Terrazas, who went to be with the Lord on 9/20/22 after a long battle with cancer. Loved him so much. Was wonderful to my Mom and the entire family. Great work ethic, humble man with strong faith. Rest in peace, Louie. You will be so missed.
Sir Douglas quintet. ❤❤❤ The Texas Tornadoes What can I say doug auggie, freddie flaco jimenez, and the list goes on doug was brilliant. He always had the best band members And they were all "the best" on their own His music always made me happy❤❤❤❤
I'm a terminal cancer patient and I start my day off with Doug sahm that's the only thing that keeps me alive he's an immortal icon he's on my list of immortal icons how about yours
May your spirit give you courage and strength. You couldn't do much better than Doug Sahm. I've never heard a better rendition of "San Antonio Rose!" Music is one of the major things that makes life meaningful. It can take you to a better place in your mind. You might also like Townes van Zandt -- his music takes you above this earth.
i played music for a living in Germany after I got out of the army there in '73. Two of our best received songs were Mendocino and She's About A Mover.
This was fantastic to hear again. I remember me and my brother saw the show on Swedish television. We recorded this down on cassette tape and rolled it over and over again. Remember it with all the songs and fills as yesterday. Great songs by the way and a great band. I wish for Doug to rest in peace. His going away was really a loss. We never know the time nor the hour to leave, so we all better get right with God while there's still time. Jesus is the one that unlocks that heavens door for anyone who calls on him.
I’ve been on a Tex-Mex kick lately and am delighted to have found this clip. Doug’s vocals are in excellent form and the musicianship of the band is superb.
He's helped me and I'll bet thousands with their depression like right now and any time from now on thanks to RUclips and Clash1954 that posted this video. Thanks Clash I hope you're both well.
Mr Ortega is one of the finest guitar players to ever live he deserves much more recognition he should be in the Hall of Fame if you agree on this let's get him in thereall of these guys in this band should be in the Rock and roll Hall of Fame and the country music Hall of Fame who's with me on that
I STRONGLY agree; this band was hot as a grease fire. Having lived in Texas, where it seems like there's bands this good under every rock, I'm SO glad that somebody thought to get this video on to RUclips, so everyone could see.
Ursula- Great Story! Thank you for sharing. As a lifelong Texan and music lover, I always enjoy the "rest of the story" The coolest thing is that you have a video trail of your step father, and now you have given a name for many music lovers to appreciate as they follow , bues, tejano, or Texian Music! Much Music Love to you and your family! -Left Eye Gibby
if it wasn't for the tornados I wouldn't have known...living under a rock - Doug's voice is golden...& heard dynamite woman a while back & that had me searching
I didn't realize Doug was such a good fiddle player! I'm so used to seeing him up front and with a guitar ... he's really good! Of course, most of my experience is just listening and not actually watching him and the band ... but I've loved all the incarnations of his career.
Doug was fantastic and will never really die...As Jan Donkers (great d.j. buddy) once said: he is/was THE living Texas juke man: country, blues, 60's, R & B, Tex/Mex: you name it, he played it: saw him countless times in Holland and even dined with him and Augie in an Amsterdam Mexican restaurant: never to be forgotten!
Jos van Que Posso...I know this is an old post but What a story the ( TX TORNADO) Doug & Augie, in an Amsterdam Mexican Restaurant...That is a typical day for a Texan...What TX is about " YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT" but it will be a blast if Doug has anything to do with it.
I forgot how creative & diverse Doug Sahm & Sir Douglas Quintet was- - I was in 'cover' bands in Southern Calif. in 1965 - 1974 trying to 'cover' "She's About A Mover" & "Mendocino" - trying to make a Rhodes sound like Augie's Vox Organ - - Thanks for the memories to clash1954 (In 1954 I was 14 - Not a good year for me - folks divorced) . . .
Old Doug was awesome. He seems like a really cool guy too party and play music with. Larry Campbell is a fine musician on pedal steel and fiddle. Good stuff.
Loving this gem. I've been a rather foaming at the mouth Sir Doug fan since I became aware of Sir Doug about 30+ years ago (feels like more and less both). Thanks for sharing this!!!
Howdy from Austin ! "Sir Doug and the Genuine Cosmic Groove." A very well made biopic of Douglas Wayne Sahm. Carrie and I saw it at Bob Bullock last night. I had no idea how popular he was in Scandinavia.
"Faded Love" is as important as the National Anthem in bars in Texas; I miss living there SO much. But the past is like a foreign country, and "Things are different there."
@@jwlundgren I'm stuck in Groover's Paradise, more expensive and more people around than in '72 but hey, what you gonna do? lol We'll send u some enchiladas con salsa, y some bar-b-que from Valentina's. This is great , but Rocky Morales doesn't appear to be doing anything but banging on the tambourine occasionally. I wonder if it was some kind of musician's union thing?
Sax great Marty Fierro had too much to drink one night at the old Lone Star here in NY and fell forward on his face. He had to be carried upstairs to the dressing room. He came out for the second set totally unfazed and rockin'. Texas Steel!

Doug was the best and I had a good time playing with him and the Sir Douglas Quintet in my younger days. He was one of the kind and a great cat to know I miss him and I know someday we will play together again. I was the Bass player on Mindocino and loved that song. Love to you buddy and God be with you. Love Jimmy Stallings
Anyone know what year this is from? My dear buddy, Harry Hess (RIP), played pedal steel and backup rhythm guitars for Doug in the mid-70s before Doug had to leave Texas for that whacky tobacky.
Doug left Texas in the mid 60’s after being busted (and set up) at the airport. That’s when he moved to San Francisco and put together the Honkey Blues band without Augie. They got Augie to move out in ‘68 (I think) and did the Mendocino album. Doug moved back to San Antonio ( or Houston) in the early 70’s to be with his wife. After they split, he moved to Austin and stayed until the late 70’s or early 80’s. He ended up living in Scandinavia for a few years in the 80’s after the reconstructed SDQ put out a couple of records with a new lineup.
"Hey Baby, Que Paso" features Augie Myers on squiffer (concertina), and vocals.... he was also on keyboard, in the Texas Tornados -- where they had Flaco Jimenez on squiffer.....

He must have had some great stories to tell. Touring Europe with the Sir Douglas Quintet!
He leaves you with many great memories. R.I.P.
and the type of bass player every drummer dreams of playing with!
❤
Great Music that your father and Doug Sahm made. You should be very proud.
I was very lucky to be in Austin from 1971 to 1981. So much good music, so little traffic, such cheap rent.

God needed him and his music in heaven. I just love to listen to him with Freddy Fender and Angie Myers and Flaco ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😂
Cheryl, I'm guessing "Angie Myers" was just a typo. He is Augie Meyers.

Great. Inte så ofta man får höra två fioler i dessa sammanhang. Väldigt romantiskt och känslostarkt. Oslagbart sound!
