- We've had to explain how these Vekoma Flying Dutchman coasters work more than any other coaster we've posted on-ride POV videos of. Although it's not that hard to do, watching this video is much simpler than any explanation we could ever give.

Hello, Taylor! Lol, i went yesterday on the 4th, and looks like the red paint is peeling off parts of it, and showing the original green, from when it was at Geauga Lake! Four hour drive from Sandusky, Ohio to Mason, Ohio. It was totally worth it!
These are so much better than B&M Flyers, way better idea and way better layouts and a lot more intense. Glad to see Vekoma is trying to get back in the game with a new launching version, and the compact stingray model type as well. B&M only won because it's B&M, not everything they do is so great, flyers are their worst (I'd give Manta and Tatsu an exception allowed but I'd still ride Batwing over them anyday) besides the stand ups (hopefully more parks and chains will follow Cedar Flair and make them floorless or alternatively sit-down).
yet this is being removed it was good but not great and this model always had reaibly issues
I loved Firehawk! Just hated waiting in the queue but the ride was a blast. R.I.P. Firehawk
It may look slow, but when you ride it, it feels insanely fast. I have ridden all the big coasters at Kings Island and Cedar Point and this was easily one of the most intense. I was swearing and laughing the entire time.

This is the X-Flight from Geauga Lake. When G.L. shut down this was one of the only rides saved by Cedar Fair.
In my opinion they are better than B&M's flying coasters because of the lay down postion instead of hanging, especially when queueing.
Though this never took off because of the terribly slow loading system. Vekoma has been working to improve this, so hopefully we will see more and various layouts of this coaster type.
it is kind of slow, but speed is not the thing that counts in this ride, it is the experience of laying down on a roller coaster! this thing is on of my favorite rollercoasters and I have ridden alot of tall and fast ones including the Diamondback and Phantom's Revenge
Trust me this ride is very fun and unique. it's quite a different feeling from your typical roller coaster. the sensation of lying on your back is pretty different. and trust me, it doesn't make you feel sick. not me at least, and im very sensitive to motion sickness.
I live 30 minutes away and ride this each time I come (twice a year) and it's so much faster when you ride it because you're on your back.

The chain lift on this is so wicked loud when you're riding it. Great ride though.
Nighthawk has a computer chain Drive which is why it goes Down Frequently IMHTO it's Very quit,,,,it's the Prototype we got cause California got a water park expansion

You have to close your eyes while going up the lift or the sun will fry them and you have to hold your ears or the chain noise will make your ears explode. Bad design, why can't the lift be the other way around? in other words your facing the ground?
Me and my youth group are heading to kings island in Ohio can't wait to ride this
I think that the Great Nor'Easter could be a good candidate as it has the new vekoma trains without head banging, so it's more comfortable than the others

If Vekoma wouldn't have been so lazy and just made the part that this coaster needed to continue operating, Kings Island would've never taken it down and it would still be here.
As soon as they laid the seats down I started freaking out. Great ride, but I screamed going up the hill..
B&M usually are a better layout, especially the newer ones, but vekomas have the better train.
Please do more back seats!!!

This is one of the two roller coasters I haven't ridden at KI. Do you lie on your back?
Yes. When you get to the station its sat upright and when you are all locked in it lowers you back and then you go right to the lift hill. This is one of my favorite rides at kings island, and I have only rode it once which was only a few months ago. What is the other ride you have not been on? I would love to tell you about the other one, since I have been on every ride at kings island and I love talking about roller coasters.

5GradeFrank You depart out of the station on your back. Then after the pre-drop it flips you under the track, to make you feel like your flying

As soon as me and my sister got on yesterday we got strapped on then they made us get off because of technical difficulties they made me mad!😡😡😡..But imma get on next time probably soon as i get there i notice Flight of fear and Firehawk are always having problems!!!!!😢

I don't know if it's really true or not but it is was said a girl with long hair got scalped on the,wooden Texas cyclone in Houston Texas at sixflags. Her hair was super long and got caught in the wheels.
Michael de los Santos Well ok that was on a wooden coaster. On firehawk, the track is above you for almost the entire ride and there is a back to the trains so your hair would have to be like 6 feet or longer and completely let loose. You would have to try really hard to get your hair caught in it.

I never understood gimmicks on rollercoasters. All this tilting back stuff and hanging upside down and hanging right side up and backwards and all that stuff. It doesn't add anything to the ride. All it does is disorient you. Coaster designers are desperate for new ideas. I guess I'm just a purist.
Yeah on nighthawk it has a screen net maybe on top row a woman with real long hair could get it caught in the Wheels

I've Never Been to KI But I hear it's Great,,,,,,This Ride Firehawk and Nighthawk are very Similar except nighthawk is the first Prototype type go one when they run Both Trains
