Can you do a video of setting up. Turning on your water heater, electrical, leveling the base camp etc. You have been great to learn from. Safe travels
I turned my Honda Pilot into a car camper and took a 2 week trip up the CA coastline (starting from LA) then looped back down on the backside of the CA Sierra mountains. Hooks would have been very helpful in my tiny space.
I really like the distressed wood stickers give you that "cabin" feel. The shut off the shower head is also a great idea with just using the hot water. How much water do you use on hair day? you have long hair that must empty your water tank.
Surprisingly, I don't use much. I used to use so much water and shampoo to wash it. I've found you really don't need that. My guess is that I use maybe 2-3 gallons total for days I wash my hair.
We just bought a Basecamp 16X this weekend, and really enjoy your videos and have started to religiously follow you. Thanks for sharing your tips and your life with us! If you are ever in SE AZ....we'd love to host you for a home cooked meal and some hiking.
Congrats on the new Basecamp Deb!! Hope you have amazing and fun travels in it! There are some great places in AZ. Maybe see you out there this winter!
Hey Cass: If you are still planning a trip to SE AZ....remember---our door is open if you want to enjoy a meal with us and a shower and over night stay! We can take you on some awesome hikes, too....
Love your videos - so informative - we are so happy with all of the information you've provided and MAINLY based on your videos, we plan to put in an order for a 16X REI!
Great information- 3m automotive tape is a super durable tape- used for vent visor/side body molding- that should help with your shelf. Keep smiling and wandering!
Next time you want to place stickers or decals start with a little spray bottle (8 - 10 oz) from the dollar store. Warm water and a squirt of dish soap and a light shake to mix. Mist on the panel, place and level you sticker and credit card the water away. No bubbles plus you can still adjust. Good luck.
Thank you for all your informational videos! Was hoping you could do one on how you find where you dump and fill water? Getting rid of trash? Thank you!
Those are great ideas Lindsey. Thanks for sharing and I'll work on those. Quick answer: I use the app Campendium a lot for dump/fills and I use plastic grocery bags for my garbage and dump at gas stations when I fill up.
Love the shower curtain! Expecting our 20FB Caravel next month. We are not going to use the sliding shower door, but will use a curtain with tension rod. Will be easier to clean. Love your videos!!!!
Thank you Lee Ann! All those items came right from Amazon. They are in the video description or here is a full list of all of them: tailsofwanderlust.com/2020/02/04/10-best-airstream-basecamp-rv-accessories-for-under-25/
you should use magnetic everything if possible rather than command strips. especially the ipad shelf. i looked on amazon and there’s lot of stuff from spice racks, shelves to hooks. i love the distressed wood look. very cozy and rustic. i would consider doing the back of your bed too. thanks for sharing. love seeing you guys living my dream life 😢.
Love that gray distressed wood look. That's my style!!! If your still in Az. it's getting closer to the Mogollon Rim to open up. If you get a chance you should check it out. A little slice of heaven!!!
If only I had a BaseCamp! Haha. Girl, you really have it together when it comes to organization! Me thinks you're a bit of an OC person (like me) "A place for everything and everything in its place!"
Another great and informative video. Will definitely be purchasing some hooks when my little camper trailer comes in. And the video was great. To me, time is the most valuable asset you have.
Birds of a feather...we use those lights in the outside storage. You have an accent wall, so kwel. We did you get the mirror on the bathroom door? Lou & Angie
I saw the new Base Camp with a dinette and not really crazy about it but it was nice to have I guess. I was wondering about the bed and with the table removed could the bed become 2 twin beds? Hi to your puppy and kitty
Hi Patti! Yes you could make them 2 separate beds, but they wouldn't be twin size. Because of how the Basecamp curves in the back, it would cut the leg room a bit. I do know some Basecampers camp that way, so it absolutely is possible. I'd recommend just checking one out and laying down in it to make sure it'd be comfortable.
I really do like those black hooks and thought they were part of the Basecamp! I think you mentioned this once before but where did you get the awesome printed box next to your bedside shelf?
Another great video, thanks for visualizing that list. I have a couple questions: 1. Do you use a mattress pad? Which would you recommend? I bought one that’s comfortable but a real pain to roll up and store. 2. I cannot get hot water. I’m not sure if it was improperly winterized, but your video got me thinking, can you tell me about how you “heat up the water”? Do the 2018 models have tank heater and another function as well? I’ve got tank heaters and a truma system. Lastly, did you upgrade to lithium? How many days do you find you can boondock with AGA? Oh, and where in AZ? I just left Sedona, I was there for a week with my Basecamp earlier this month. Cheers and thanks in advance.
I hit enter before I finished typing! The Viscosoft is not small. It's not something I'd recommend if you are looking to roll it up and out of the way. Perhaps a twin size that would be easier to fold up. When I mention heating up my tanks, I mean using the Truma to make hot water. Check this article out and see if it helps you with de-winterizing: herfinemess.com/winterizing-an-airstream-basecamp-x-the-forced-air-method/. And yes, I did upgrade to Lithium as well as a Victron solar and battery controller. The AGM batteries I could boondock 1 day working full-time without sun. With the lithium, I rarely think of power as I have plenty for charging my laptop. Safe travels to you!
@@TailsofWanderlust ToW, I have also cut my mattress pad to fit, but I certainly miss putting the tables up as much as I'd like. I work from home but not in my basecamp full time and I haven't quite adjusted to laying on the bed to work on standing in the kitchen if I simply want to sit and work. I've been in here all week at the Oregon coast and I really wish there was a solution for having an awesome mattress pad that could easily store away. Regarding the article you sent and de-winterizing, I'm frustrated to read through some of this and with all of the tips, but it is helpful! I'm frustrated because I kept it plugged in all winter as to not worry about temps dropping like they do where I live. And I took several very long ski trips. I'm still running on AGA but haven't done a ton of boondocking yet for long periods of time. I'll boondock but then find an RV park. Definitely upgrading to Lithium for the warmer months, nice to hear that power isn't an issue! Thanks for your replies, can't wait to take a cold shower today.
Hi, i'm from Québec and I just realise that you really look alike one of a Popular actress Who's Called Magalie Lépine-Blondeau. Great Channel by the way.
Hello Gandhileboston, Google says your actor is 38 years old, I suspect Cass may be a few years younger than that. A few of the images did have some similarity to Cass. Well done.
Great video. We are nearing the end of our 8-week trip with our nucamp t@b 400 and we've had a great time. Our last six stops are at State Parks that do no offer sewer (at the site) so we are very familiar with the short / expedient / water saving showers. We can usually manage to stretch our gray tank to three days with each of us taking a short shower each night. It's second nature to us now and we find ourselves doing it at home (hahahahah). Liked the hanging bag in the shower so we might get one of those. One question, how are you managing the heat? I think you said your batteries are not sufficient to run your A/C so we're curious how you beat the heat. Travel Safe
Really glad to hear that the trip went well! An 8-week trip sounds amazing. Good for you for continuing the short showers at home. I find I still take very long showers when I'm in a house - making up for all the short ones! I escape the heat by finding higher elevation. So in the summertime, I try to go as high as possible and find shade.
Where I live in Melbourne, Australia, we experienced an eight year drought during the early 2000’s, receiving nothing like our usual rains. We received egg timers for boiling eggs as a guide for how long to shower for. To this day I am extremely frugal with my water use. The rains returned during November 2008 or 9.

Good afternoon. I have been using the nickle command hooks for two years. They come in two sizes and you are right, if you don't like where it is.... just move it. I also use the Velcro version of the Command tape to mount a small AcuRite weather station unit. Very secure. And the AcuRite weather station (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ACIISF8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) is great. I also agree with you on the chrome Command shower caddy, too. I've had that for two years, too. You have inspired me to get the rechargeable motion sensor light for my darker storage areas. Thanks for that! One last question: I assume you edit your footage on the Mac? Which software package are you using? Safe travels...
Hi Glen! Great additions you have. Hope you enjoy the cabinet lights. For this video, I actually tried out a 3rd party editing company to see if I can subcontract that work to save a bit of time. Not sure yet how I liked their editing style, but still working through that. When I edit, I just use iMove on my Mac.
What would you do? By some miracle I found a 2017 Basecamp 16 for $32,000 and also a 2020 Basecamp 16X for $47,000....I am leaning toward the 2017 since it has already taken the depreciation hit. I might be staying in it **mostly** full time since I am priced out of the current hot housing market. I need to decide soon or both will be gone! I have cash to pay for either one, so the emotion of giving up the extra $15,000 in price difference goes into play....😳
So sorry! I wasn't checking messages due to my eye surgery. Hope you were able to make the right call for you! I think it really comes down to the condition of each. A Basecamp for $32,000 is an amazing price.

Hi! For the most part, all my clothes are the same or black. So I dress the same for the videos and even for most days.
@@TailsofWanderlust I think its brilliant to wear mostly one color... I plan to do the same. Makes washing clothes so much easier when they are the same color and when you are on the road full-time!
Absolutely! And makes getting dressed in the morning very easy!
