Today I was bullied in my class because of my family's financial problem, it was so horrible and I was really depressed about it and I don't have words what I'm feeling right now after this video. Just a big thank you M2S. You helped me to pass this hard time.
Aadi Sankhla I used to be in the same position, just ignore the losers show them your talent, show them your potential to succeed then they would be the ones to respect you and cry cause they wasted their time. I was one of the worst in my school, after a few years it was the opposite and this will repeat when you meet new challenges and stages in life and once you deal with a certain problem, you wont have to deal with them again. Never give up! ✊👍
Aadi Sankhla I know what you feel as I was in the same situation: poor, with alcoholic father, old clothes and always feel ashamed when I couldn't afford a new jeans. But I used it as my driving force. Every night when I was going to sleep I promised myself to study hard, not to pay attention to anyone and overcome thr poverty. I managed to do it and you can do it too. Now, nobody is laughing! Make a list of goals, invest in yourself, study hard and don't dwell on being bullied. Use it as your motivation!
I’m a 40 y.o. housewife and decided to go back to school to pursue a medical career. Two years ago I was diagnosed with a (benign) brain tumor. Since then I’ve been reading a lot about the human brain and it’s powers. As an adult, I have fears and doubts in my abilities in learning a new skill. I challenged myself to learn the basics of Math & Science again. Right now I’m preparing for my Board Exam and will give my ALL to achieve my goals. Thank you for this inspiring video. ***Update: Dec.16,2017- I passed my Board Exam. I guess nothing can stop me now. Thank you all for sending positive vibes! 🙏❤️
+Happy Camper thank you so much for sharing your story with us! I believe our brains are capable of so much more than what we think, including healing and changing. All the best to you in your amazing endeavors💙💙💙.
Abdirahman Hussein don’t listen to others opinion of you. Believe in your gut feeling. Don’t play small but wanting to contribute to the world. All the best to you
Abdirahman Hussein Tq. Once my teacher told me I’m weak in Maths & account, I’m too slow. I’m better off be a beautician, it suit me better. I believe in that lies for many years. I realized it was wrong, teacher opinion of me doesn’t mean it’s my destiny. Hence, I put in hard work and keep grinding until today. And hard work will pay off.
In this amazing story, you realise how important teachers are in shaping the people we become. More credit and compensation needs to be given to teachers.
So I used to watch this video all the time a couple years back when I was repeating my final year of high school in an effort to raise my marks to enter an engineering degree. Its cool to come back and watch this again as a BEng Electrical and Electronics Engineering student, younger me would never believe it actually came true. Don't give up people
I lovveeeee this women, legit brought tears to my eyes, she's so right, mind set is so important, I was failing horribly for my chemistry AS level (UK education) and everyone in my class was top, and I was not as disappointed BC I knew I had put one hundred percent into it and stayed up endlessly trying and revising, I scrapped all of my chemistry notes from last year, opened up several different textbooks and used the internet articles and completely started from scratch, I did not leave a topic until I completely understood it within an inch of its life, I practiced every frocking paper available, every question, understood and picked out all of my mistakes, until there was nothing left that I had not learned, happily received top marks the following year.... Its all about whether u think you can do something, whether u accept the challenge with open arms and just go for it, walk into the dark, don't be afraid of failing, have fun, test yourself and just see what happens if u try 100% EDIT: wow three years ago!? I forgot that I even wrote this comment!! Glad it motivated people. Three years on I decided I didn't want to study science at university and took architecture instead, just graduated :)
Thank you so much for sharing!!! You're story is very inspirational and you touched upon one of the greatest ideas I've come across and that is when what you're doing doesn't work try something different because there is a way! Change your mind change your destiny 👍👍.
That is part of the hard work in reaching my goal is having the courage to stand alone because the crowd is powerful in that I receive messages directly and indirectly from the media, from my environment, from people that I'm crazy for standing in the truth that is right for me. Right now my challenge is to get support in reaching my goals because another thing I'm learning is that I don't have to stand alone. There are others who can and will stand with me and to find them and engage them. Being the lone wolf/self-reliant person is overrated and has been unnecessarily practiced in my life.
I needed to hear this. Everyone thinks I am crazy for being a 25 year old with two kids, trying to go to college to become a physician. I am currently working on my biochemistry and struggling, trying to raise my kids and spend late nights studying because I want to do this as much as I want to breathe. I keep hearing "your too old to go down that road", "you have to be a genius to be a doctor". "you're not going to be able to handle medical school as a mom". FUCK THAT, I am going to do it and show my children that you can do anything you put your mind to and work hard.
I did my highschool exams last year and didn't pass math and chemistry and biology and I've always wanted to do biochemistry however people keep discouraging me that I can't reread it to major biochemistry that I'll be too old... What do you think I should do I'm 19 btw and I'm supposed to join university next year and choose courses this year
I am someone that didn't do shit at school. And now trying to climb the ladder, wan to be an architect. But no one support me not even my parents. But only I do. And I can tell you it's hard when no one believes in me that I can do it. These videos help me alot to stay motivated, Thanks!!
Another video had said, don't expect anyone else to support your dream it's your dream it's your dream not theirs so you go for it and don't let anybody take that from you! There are a lot of dream Killers out there but don't let yourself down. If you don't believe in you why should anybody else?
Your brain can never be smart, you just learn to think and solve problems more efficiently which in return creates more difficult problems to solve. The moment you think you are smart is the moment in which you stop learning. Don't ever be smart, keep learning instead.
Okay I failed a course twice and here I am at 21 years old contemplating dropping out ... You know what I'm gonna stick in this , if she can I can too Wow, I really forgot about this comment... thank you guys so much for the positivity, I appreciate you all. Its 2 years later, I switched majors that year to teaching and I'm doing exceptionally well to the point where I've earned a full time scholarship. Sometimes if the door doesnt open, perhaps it's not your door ... I love you all 😘🤗
This video has its own unique vibe. "I put my all into it and i failed" hits so hard right now. Failed my entrance exam despite studying and putting in hours of work. I have more exams ahead. Its hard to focus on your next goal when you're haunted by the memory of a recent setback. Im grateful for this video. Will definitely work harder and manage my exam anxiety. Hoping to make it in the upcoming exams.
I used to watch this video almost everyday back in 2019, I was failing my majors calculus and Computer Science. At some point I never even thought I would graduate, had spent 4 years at university, graduated 2021 with a Computer Science degree only 6 years later. Now I currently work as a Software Engineer at a Big Tech company. Don't give up. No matter how hard it may all seem.
I think the most difficult decision is when you have already decided and know what exactly you want in life but you fail and the time is ticking by. So the question comes to whether to settle for less or continue trying for what you want with uncertainty. Edit: I made it. I did not settle for less. I was ready to tolerate the ugly face of not making it but to be satisfied with the fact that I gave my 100℅. Be practical about what you can tolerate. It's funny that I made it too as a scientist in the field of plant molecular and genetic engineering. I will be receiving my doctoral degree soon from a very fancy Swiss University. Next target is Harvard, USA. Wish me luck guys.
+khopeno khuvung I agree it comes down to understanding what you are capable of but also too many people quit too soon rather than battle through failure💙.
I understand. Failed precalc n still need to go thru calculus, chemistry, physics etc.I'm terrible at math but this is not going to stop me from obtaining my engineering degree. I'm in college with young people smarter than me. I feel like time is ticking for me. I'm 30 and just beginning my journey.
This is definitely me, because of my love for video games and wanting to learn how to make them, I took up programming and I went through 2 different colleges and failed half of my classes each time and only managed to barely pass my math class(despite the fact that I love math). I want a different job than retail but I need my license, yet iv failed 4 times at the road test which forces Me to re-take drivers education at 26. The more I try to push forward the harder life knocks me back. Still fighting though, can’t let failure after failure after failure keep you down. My desire for success is much stronger than the pain from failure(even though it fucking hurts).
24 years old, just got married, no job, no proper adequate financial income. Did Civil Engineering for 2 years, failed miserably at it, took a year out. Decided to go back to Education and took up Mechanical Engineering, did well in the 1st and 2nd year followed by a terrible 3rd year due to health implications. Now having failed some classes in 3rd year I'm repeating another year... Now what ? Do I give up ? Give up on my Mum Give up on my Dad Give up on my Wife Give up my Education because of Circumstances ? NO ! No matter what life throws at you, We can always rise above our situations in life. Don't let the your circumstances change your goals in life, no matter how hard the obstacle gets. We can overcome.
Heyyy.. how is it now? Im planning to take master degree in mechanical engineering, but i have disability in me that will make people humiliate me. Really tired of it.
+Ved Vikas, exactly this speech is full of incredible wisdom! In a lot of ways she is talking about mindfulness and being present in the moment, fully aware of our thoughts, controlling our confidence, and the need to change our mind to grow and learn 💙💙💙.
I was a failing student, I was a joke, nobody took me seriously, I was stupid, I was dumb, I was every single negative word and one day a Teacher told me you are good. Then one thing led to another and I started believing in myself. So in my case, I was a failing student to an Engineer. This video touched me hard because it is really close to my hard. BTW, failing it is a good thing, but when the failure does not touch your soul.
I finished high school when I was 18 and I didn’t go to uni or college because of family circumstances. I’m 25 and I basically haven’t used my brain since, I feel like I’ve gone almost brain dead. One thing I’ve always been interested in is maths but I’m horrendous at it and I think that’s why I’m interested in it, because I am so bad lol my family haven’t been supportive for me educationally but I want to do it now and hearing her experience! Omg maybe I can do this, after all I feel I’ve just been afraid and I’ve been so negative. I have to take control of my thoughts. Thank you so much !
This hit me very hard...I got my math exam back today and got a very low score (39%) became very upset with myself but after watching this I'm just gonna go into math and fight my fear of failing!
GP true but people are held back due to racism or classism, aka why women who wear the hijab, or men who wear turbans don’t get hired as much as people who don’t show their religious identity
No matter what you are facing from problems don't give up on Islam and who you are ..don't let them control your life or how you should be ..they have to respect you and accept and if they didn't the problem is in their minds not you ...keep the good work 🌸
Shoaib K Maybe because they don’t apply as much, I highly doubt someone’s religious identity or race has anything to do with getting hired, I’d like to think that it has more to do with whether or not you’re actually competent to do a job.
Ankle Socks No. You have to admit discrimination does happen in some companies during the hiring process. There’s still some stigma about Muslims, blacks, and Hispanics and how competent they are for certain jobs.
I know I'm late, but I need to say this. I've struggled with math my whole life. I'm always flustered and agitated by all the equations and the processes of memorizing the correct way to solve the problems. And what makes it worse is even though I make numerous attempts to get extra help from my teacher, she would always seem to disregard the genuine feeling I have in efforts to become better. I would always cry and cry and cry because even though I tried and studied I would always fail. Whenever we had a test or quiz, I would build up anxiety and blank out in fear that my grade would drop more after. This resulted me to cheat off others because I felt hopeless and unintelligent. I would always tell others that I hated math and that I sucked at it. But after this video, I've come to realize that one F doesn't mean it's the end. I will PUSH myself to become better and will study LONGER and won't give up. Cheating doesn't benefit you in the long run and I had to learn the hard way. Some may adapt math skills quickly than others, but that doesn't mean you're stupid. These reoccurring pessimistic thoughts are contributing to my failures and I'm so touched by this video because I aspire to be an aerospace engineer too. My passion for astronomy dominates over my failures and I will put in the effort to dedicate my life into something I love. Thank you.
I failed chemistry 2 Times. I switched my major because I “knew” I couldn’t do it. The only black girl in many of my classes I was intimidated. Thanks for this video! It resonated so deep
@@kingkong4720 Not really a race card when it's the truth. Spend a day in her shoes. I am in a class of almost 90 kids, one of only four black students. Constantly excluded and overlooked from study groups and discussions. I just keep showing up because I have to pass the class.
@@barovierkevinallybose1040 keep going love! You can do it, show these white folks you're more than your color ;). Not that you have to prove anything to them but it'll feel good haha
I just failed physics for the second time, but you’re right, I can do it! I will make every right decision to make my goal a reality. I will complete my goal to become a physics major. I really needed to hear this. Thank you. ♥️
I have failed this math class 3 times and I need to ask permission from the college to try again. If I fail again I will have to go to another school for that one class. I don’t care I’ll do it
She is a strong, dedicated woman. Instead of sitting down, complaining, and expecting the government to take care of her, she carved out her own path, and took on one of the most challenging educational field possible, Rocket Science, and she came out with success. This is what society needs, men and women like her, not the ones who want free stuff from government, and just sit around and complain all day. This was a great video.
"I had to change the way I thought about things. When we realize that we have a choice to change how we think about things, that is how we unleash the power that is within us." - Olympia LaPoint This is an incredible speech from Olympia LaPoint on how she had to literally change her thought process in order to realize that she had the ability to first get into University and then go from a failing student to graduating top of her class in Rocket Science. What she said about age is right.. and wrong. It's true that anyone has the potential to change at any time, but most people don't change because they decided to, they change because their world changed, and that's more prominent when you're older. The more time you spend doing something wrong the harder it sets in your brain and eventually it will set like concrete, you will get so used to do the same things and thinking the same way that it becomes you. That does not mean you can't change it, the way I'd recommend you look at it is if your brain sets like concrete, you're 50 years old and nothing seems to change then you can still change how you think by melting that concrete down to nothing and starting over, that's what you do when you can no longer mold your brain the way you want it. On the other hand if you spend your whole life looking to change yourself, to adapt and evolve, then you can keep your brain soft and malleable, not literally of course! The best example I can provide is video games, people spend 1000's of hours playing, trying to improve and change the way they think so they can get better. Some people don't improve because they don't have the motivation, but the people that really want to get better either need to completely change the way they play and think, because it's not possible just to change 1 thought and expect it to make a difference to how good you are. There's people that are really bad, really terrible players, and these people play games loads, they might be better at one game than another but they don't get better, the reason is because they're stuck, because they spent so much time playing the wrong way that it only gets harder to start playing the right way. The final point, there's people that start doing something and it appears like they was born to do that thing, the appear as a genius, like they didn't have to work for it. Why is this relateable? Because MOST of these people started at a very young age, when their brains are empty husks, then said person starts doing something, playing an instrument for example and not only does their brain learn to love that, it also creates a perfect mold, their brain is so fresh that it just sets itself to that one thing, just because someone is young doesn't mean are brains are less powerful, an young brain can do this amazing thing and figure out exactly how to be really good at something just because there's nothing to hold them back. That does not mean said person will be smart, BUT, this is a huge point, if this person, say they're 10 years old and they stop playing the instrument at 15 for example, they could come back to it in 30 years and they would more than likely be able to get good again. Maybe even better than everyone else, even though it's been years. All because their brain learned to develop that way, their early brain probably saw playing that instrument as "survival". So you can always change your brain but it's not possible to do a full reset, you always have to work with what you've got, play to your strengths, but we can still adapt, are brains are even more powerful than we give it credit for, they can do amazing things when you figure it all out, but be flexible, based off everything I have said the words I would use is, "change the mold" if you cant do something no matter how hard you try it's because your brain learned to do it a different way, anyone can learn ANYTHING, ANYTHING at all, BUT, everyone learned in very different ways, everything that ever happened to you trained your brain to do something different and it's not always right, that's just how we learn to survive and we learn to survive of course at an early age taught by our environment and the people around us. So if you think your not capable of something or someones better than you it usually doesn't mean they worked harder for it, that's the truth, not many are capable of this kind of change, and even if you understand all these things like me it's still not easy, it's like walking on a tightrope. But we can adapt slowly to a new environment or new people, this is what we're best at. Final point, if you struggle with the motivation to do something more often than not it's going to be because what your doing isn't in line with your values, the way your brain wants to think and the way your brain thinks you should survive. So when you struggle with motivation don't think it's because there's something wrong with you, your brain is just rejecting what your doing, if a 10 year old picks up an instrument and his brain gets invested enough in it and he learns to be good, at that point it's probably going to be the main focus point for the rest of his life, he will probably find it easy to pick up other instruments or maybe do stuff in music and he'll find it not only easy, BUT FUN, he will want to do it, this is what I mean by motivation, motivation isn't some magical resource, or something that you can just change, you can't just decide to be motivated to do something, so the 10 year old who's brain learned that playing an instrument is the way to survive will always enjoy playing that instrument when many other people will hate it. This is where the luck comes in, the guy playing the instrument people will probably think he's perfect, people will think he's better than they are themselves, he might be famous, etc etc, and that's how it all works. So this is the reason I'm giving anyone reading this to feel good about themselves, don't look around the world and see talented and famous people that are better than you are, it's a pathetic ideal to say we're all created equal. But if you spend your life thinking everyone else better than you for the wrong reasons that'll hold you back the most. Also something I missed about motivation, if you want to get motivated for something and be successful with it you have 3 options. 1. Keep doing it, push yourself and try to push past your limits to do the thing you want to do and get better at it, the brute force approach, this can work, it seems that most people take this path seeing as half the motivational quotes I see are something silly about "pushing yourself till you drop dead". I would say this is the best way of changing yourself fast.. It's probably the easiest option, you can't reset your brain like this but if you push yourself out of your comfort zone and push your limits then you can force yourself to adapt, everything is about survival, your brain just wants you to survive, the hard part about this option is that you're already surviving, you don't have to do anything else to survive, you might try to push yourself and feel terrible just because your brain thinks it goes against your "survival", so of course it feels shit. But if you push yourself then over time you will adapt, you will force yourself to adapt, but the change will be more permanent and you will only be changing how you survive. 2. Train your brain in every possible way to the point where you own every thought, every emotion and can decide exactly what you want to feel and do, I don't really have much details on this but I know it's an option, I'm not sure if anyone's managed to do this to it's upper limits yet in the history of the universe, this is the hardest option and it might take 30 years to obtain with a high probability of failure, the further you walk down this path the thinner the path you're walking becomes, it gets easier to fall, if you let the things people say to you and the world around you make a single decision it can push you down a different path. (I'm 20 now, this is what I'm going for, here's to hoping I can find the way by 50!) 3. Easiest option! Figure out exactly what you want to do and why, find the thing you enjoy no matter what it is, how silly or pathetic it sounds and find a way to live off it, this is essentially like finding something to fit the mold(your brain), you might really want to do something but can't get motivated for it, because your brain rejects it, that doesn't mean there's nothing for you, if your dream isn't worth it you can let it go and work hard to find something you really enjoy, if you can make that thing into a living you can be happy doing this forever. This is the option where you don't have to change yourself, you keep the same mold, you just need to work hard to find something that fits into the mold. 4. (SECRET OPTION)! Go back to sleep, keep doing the same shit, never change and leave your life down to chance! This is NOT the easiest option, this is HARD! Harder than any of the other options by miles. But it's the safest :) No matter what you need the right mindset, and you might want to think about changing your circumstances / environment first and the people that you know / talk to often if you think they will hold you back, no matter what approach you take if you're surrounded by the wrong people that don't support the you that you want to be then it'll cripple you. To end this wall of text on a positive note. Just remember you can do anything, even if you have drawn a shorter straw and the odds seem to be stacked against you that doesn't mean you're any less capable than anyone else, there is ALWAYS a way around, you might have to find another way, climb over or even find a way to tunnel through to the otherside, but there's always a way. Never think you're worse and NEVER think that you are better!
I cried when she said "Do It". It literally goes down to my spines. Thank you for sharing your journey it will be a great help to me and everybody who needs that tool.
I live in iran. I took a very important exam at the age of 11 and got accepted in the best guidance school in the entire country. Then came high school and I began to fail. From this day I have 6 months to take the most important exam across iran with other 700000 students and to become a doctor I need to be at the 500 top. This was very inspiring to me. Please pray for me because I'm not rich enough to continue being supported by my parents cuz I have a younger brother and sister and they need support as well. So please pray for me!
God bless. Math is hard. My tip-get a good tutor. I was 3 out of 10 in math but then I started going to the tutor I got 9 out of 10. Maths depends on a teacher and nobody will prove me otherwise. Finding good teacher and that’s it. See liz Murray ‘s story. From homelessness to Harvard. Yes,hard work but her teachers were aspiring
I'm in awe and in tears .Like, she is me I failed physics and math my first yr of uni .... then I knew I failed, not because I was dumb but instead because of fear and doubt and also lack of math skills. I gave myself no option the following year did 5 courses: 2 math, 2 stats and econ. I didn't even take math seriously until after I got accepted into university. Failed math 3 times prior to uni ..... Now I'm near completing an Econ. and Statistics major with 30 credit free elective math courses. *Information changes situation, but also information changes how you see and understand the world around you. I'm an avid believer in that.*
+Ajoeanna Brown thank you for sharing your story! I agree, knowledge is power and the more you are open to understanding yourself the more you will succeed 💙.
i failed at my tests , my family and my friends are discouraging me, i compare myself to other students , my thoughts are not my friends, im just a loser 😔😔😔 and here i am the motivational side of youtube , to boost my confidence a lil bit :(( .. .. everyone who can relate , dont worry u r not alone , we can go through it, lets try to be positive .. 😔😔
I'm in tears right now, all my life I stop myself from being challenged Because I was afarid of not being good enough. I am at a point in life I'm ready to step out side of my comfort zone. To be the best me I can . Thank you so much for this video. 😭😭❤❤🤗🤗
My grandfather told me when I was 8 years old that I'll be unemployed, unhappy person, addicted to cigarettes, drunker, and I'll abandon education soon. Today I am preparing to get my doctorate degree after 7 years of hard work. to be a father means to be responsible for what you say, how your features work, billion of sons over the world are in hard situation maybe because of a word was stuck in their heads.
I applied for a senior position at my company, after contemplating for months if I was good enough or smart enough to do it. Just applied to 4 of those positions.. I’m going to put it out to the universe that at least one of those positions are for me!
I experienced a sexual assault during my first semester in college. The emotional and mental toll it took over me placed me from a 3.7 to a 1.6 GPA. I genuinely was sat here, feeling completely hopeless, however this video just completely changed my outlook on things. It instilled just the push I needed in order to try again.
@@Traders_Struggles Wow, reading this old post definitely brought back some emotions. Over these last 4 years, while faced with many challenges, my life has completely turned back around to positive track. I graduated last spring with an honors distinction, and am now settling into my career. I've taken great steps to heal, grow, and learn from my past, determined to not let it define my future. I feel very fortunate as I know not everyone's journey with such a dark experience ends positively. However, with great support and love, it is possible. Thank you for asking!
It's great really .I'm at the top of class and I got always the highest marks but didn't feel any better feeling It's like I've no confidence anymore. I couldn't work since August of last year but still I got highest marks and still can understand everything better but now it's a headache for me. I've no motivation anymore I don't know how to overcome this 😔
Once, my teacher told me that I will never be a doctor when I was looking for a medical school. 20 years later, he got admitted to a hospital due to stroke and was later surprised to see me as the main doctor of the hospital.
2 years ago, math was my biggest problem....i worked my ass off, and got accepted in med school thanks to the inspiration she gave me 💖you've change my life madam , thank you
I think seeing "our thinking " for what it is the hard bit .understanding our mindsets is hard bit.its like a jigsaw ...a functional jigsaw.truly when we understand it,how it controls our emotions, our choices, our actions, our words, our further thought processes...we will be free.the truth sets free
I attended an engineering college were I did not succeed. My mindset, my internal image was not aware of my capabilities. As I near the age of 57 I want my life's goal to be the completion of my BS in Aerospace Engineering. Mindset is everything.
Omg thank you. I dropped out of college studying Mechanical Engineering and now Im back in college at 33. I havent been a student in over a decade. Everybody tells me that I'm too old and need to just get a trade job. I will become an engineer and it is never too late to go back to college.
@@volcom05345 hey how is it now? Im 27 now and already a holder of bachelor of mechanical engineering. I really want to study aerospace engineering or physics but i ithink i should take another undergraduate degree, i dont know if i can straight go take master in aerospace, i think its too hard. The "too old" mindset keep haunted me. Because if i take amother undergraduate, i wont have income in the next 4 years. So how are your study going?
There's nothing wrong with that. We need a little bit of positivity and inspiration every day. They are like food for the mind. Even the most motivated people (who are passionate about what they're doing) need it - just like they need food for their bodies. :-)
I have dyslexia and dyscalculia. Tested both positive. As a kid, you really feel stupid when you’re different in the way you’re capable of learning. A teacher once laughed at me, saying “ah, so you’re double handicapped.”. It keeps hunting most people for the rest of their lives. Instead of learning kids this “learning disorder” is a bad thing.. they should learn them to be blessed. Due to my “disorders”, I’ve developed a strong power on seeing solutions were others see problems. I’m used to work-around things to make the same things happen. Now I found my passion with purpose which I see myself doing for the rest of my life. Trading stocks. Ironic, right? Well, for me, it isn’t. I’m learning through video’s because I’m no reader person. I always make a trade plan because I need to take the time to calculate my risks. I know failure is key in learning because I failed a lot. Bottomline is.. don’t let anyone tell you what you cannot do. You are unstoppable.
+EverythingInUse your story is incredibly inspiring because you didn't give up or give in to negativity! Thank you for sharing it with us, I believe you are unstoppable because of your winning attitude 💙.
So kind of you to say! I'm really enjoying your video's. Very deep insights coming from great minds as yourself. They're helping me and others a bunch : ) thank you
Bless this woman!! This made me cry because I can relate to some of what she said -feeling like you don't know your worth. What a strong and inspiring woman!
I'm truly glad that this video appeared in my recommendations. I'm a freshmen in college majoring in Mechanical Engineering and already sometimes I feel like I'm not going to be as successful as I want myself to be at it. But, this video motivated me to keep trying and think differently about where I stand. 💙
+Vienna Banez, considering how difficult it is to get a video to show up on the side bar I'm really glad it made it there for you! The first couple years in Engineering will definitely challenge your resolve, and the sooner you commit to giving your best effort no matter how many times you fail and no matter where you fall on the curve the better. Believe in yourself and you will surprise yourself 💙.
That is what I plan to major as well. Math is hard for me. I have failed calculus twice and I get a feeling physics will be a tough subject for me as well. I only got one more chance and it seems that the good majors require courses like these. I don’t know what is expected ahead of me. I’m afraid of not being good enough. I’m afraid of being a failure.
Sara XIII You’re not a failure. If you fail something more than once even a million times and you don’t understand the concept of it that’s ok. It doesn’t make you a failure. I’m the same way with math. Things don’t always click in my head right away no matter what but eventually it does.
As another woman of color in STEM, I love her courage. In almost 20 yrs, I'm always the only women of color in my immediate department. In college there were predominantly black women in my field but unfortunately many were never given opportunities to advance. I pray things change and we can see more inclusion in STEM. It's still a man's world. But you can contribute and make your own way.
I’m at 12th grade.. last year I was at the bottom of the class. And now.. I’m one of the top students at school. I still don’t believe in myself enough .. but I’m working on it.. I wanna be a dentist just like my mom, she’s my role model, she believes in me when I don’t.. and reminds me that I’m capable of doing everything. I love her. She’s my hero. Thanks for sharing this video 🌸
I failed in my engineering exams, in India ppl judge u by ur backlogs and I taught that was the worst case scenario happned but this video taught me it's ok to fail and I made a decision right now no matter what I am gonna give my 100 prcnt!!!!thanks for my motivation
I have a degree in biology and I am currently studying an MSc in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics. My dream when I began my academic adventure was (and still kind of is) to become a successful microbiologist to discover and research extremophilic bacteria. I am going through a phase of uncertainty and not knowing if continue through this path or to go other way. I truly don't know what to do because pursuing that dream till the end scares me because of having to be away from everything and everyone I know. I know this story might bore some people or seem too simple but I felt the need to explain it when I watched this video which definetly is inspiring and remember me how I felt when I decided to start my biology degree and how that feeling of hunger and curiosity for my dream helped me push through it. So, in conclusion, I really need to thank you for uploading this video and this woman for taking her time to inspire us all like she has done it.
Im gonna be a computer Engineer! At first I was sticking with computer science bc of self doubt but this video and beautiful woman has encouraged me to go for it!! Changing my perspective here on out! Happy new year 🎆
Mama Vanhouda not to let, I was afried of writing in English I drop eng 101 for 11 years now I will be starting grad school in 2018 at age 54. But God.
Mama Vanhouda Where would you have heard this? spoken by who?parents? tutors? friends? family? well only if they knew any better, and not consumed in their own world. This is why I appreciate people like Olympia who is using technology to reach people all over the world not only young, STEM student but human in general irrespective of their age, to be inspired, to have quickened mind, and go for it.
thank you so much I failed last semester for the 2nd time and I was going to give up but I'm going to start studying and saving now to go back this summer and finish what I started! It is possible!!
As a 53yrs old African Woman in America, I decided to go back to College for A degree, and THIS VIDEO, has given me the PUSH I NEEDED TO CONTINUE WITH COLLEGE.... AND HID SHALL GIVE ME THE GRACE TO A's ALL MY SUBJECTS, AS I PUT IN MY UTMOST EFFORT & BELIEVE IN WHOM GOD MADE ME TO BE.... A CONQUEROR, THE HEAD AND NOT THE TAIL.... THE BEST VERSION OF ME 😍😘.... Thank you for these great words of Encouragement Lady... YOU ARE GOD SENT! MAY HOD RICHLY BLESS YOU

Plus,my friends left me.I feel hopeless and Down,But after watching this video,I feel very confident and Hopefull to change my life.About 50 days,I work very hard and study with full of effort even People keep stoping me and Say that"It won't work."But i'm still work on it.And after a lot of hardwork,I success to be a best student in my school and Got Straight A in my exam.Everone was shocked and said"Is it true?"😂 And I was like"Yeah it's not a dream."Thanks to olympia lepoint. You are my Inspiration.May god ease everything in your life.💙
+sandra crump agreed!!! The wisdom she shares is priceless, thanks for commenting and please share this video I really believe there are so many people that can be helped by her message 💙.
I'm a 36 year old second year physics student failing a math class for the first time 😭 and lately I've been doubting my decision to major in physics. I seriously needed this video at the moment. Thank You.
i used to be a model student, top of the class, a perfect example for my siblings. being the middle child was always hard for me, not getting as much attention as my two siblings and i guess i just wanted some attention, care rather, but as i grew up i became so unmotivated. the expectations that people had of me weighed me down so much that rather than wanting to live up to them, i wanted to show people that i could be different and the complete opposite. i've practically hit rock bottom and i'm learning the hard way now. i think instead of regretting this experience, im grateful for it, because now i can learn from it. i love this lady, like wow. im so inspired by this because im now in the same situation she was in, i hope to be as great a person as she has become.
This is incredible- the first half of this video narrates the mental trap I've been in for the last few years. You're my new heroine! Thank you for sharing your journey.
The quote "anyone can gain a genius brain at any age" changed my life a few years ago. I wrote it down, posted it to my desk, and it's always there helping me reset my mindset when I'm feeling down. This woman is amazing and I am so happy to have heard her story on Impact Theory. She changed my life when depression was holding me down from accomplishing my goals. The idea that anyone can gain a growth mindset has helped me get further than I could have imagined (in my career and also in my mental health). Best of all, my career puts me in a place where I am always encouraging others to grow in a similar way and pay forward what I have learned that has helped me.
My self esteem was punched in the face when I was in middle school. I was struggling in math which made them put me in a lower math class than everybody else. The teacher always told us that we weren’t good enough for normal people math. Moral of the story is I am now a high schooler and top of my class in math. Now I help others in math which gives me even more confidence in myself.
Ahh thank you for making this video! I'm always afraid to ask for help and I keep thinking that I'm a failure at mathematics. This video helped me a lotttt 😊 Hopefully I'll start thinking differently and start excelling at math and school in general.
She is so incredibly attractive in every way! I like how she encourages to try fields they may be interested in, I would like to add to that and say to artists "you have sight that others don't" use this ability to convey your thoughts.
I am finishing my bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, I currently feel that it was all more a way to show myself I was able to commit to something and get it done, cause I don't think I will work as a chemical engineer but I do think that I will apply every value I have learned: discipline, consistency, resilience, responsibility, team work, confidence... Don't forget it, it's all about learning and getting stronger 🙌
"Thanks , I've watched your episode twice ." Every time i listen to your words i just think of being that force of changing my world into something bigger and wiser. "
she is just amazing 😇👏👏.The way she was describing every expects of her thought ,how she over come from her fear to the awareness about her surrounding👌👌👌 each word spoked by her shows her excellence in her thoughts .I AM impresse 💓🙏🙏🙏
yeah........ we just need a little push and life will find a way. we just freakin' need to close our eyes and do it. And sometimes all those hardest things are more simpler than we could ever understand......... we just think it as complex. World is big.But so are you.Know thyself.
This came at the right time. I have failed both calculus 1 and 2. Started calculus 3 this sem and I was almost giving up but now I know I need to shift my thinking and it can all change
I must have listened to this at least 100 times in the last year and somehow it still manages to make me want to get up and work for my dreams. Such a powerful and beautiful speech!
Im not doing well in my civil engineering degree at the moment... I'm in my 2nd/3rd year & I've already failed 2 classes .... because each of these are only specifically offered in one semester every year & its a pre requisite for alot of my other classes its prolonged my graduation by 2 years😔 So now what was meant to be a 4 yr degree is now 6... I've also only gotten 50s (and a few 60s) for my other past classes and tbh I've been feeling like dropping out since my first year... I'm so over clich'e motivational videos tbh but this one really struck a chord with me because I feel like I can relate to her so much. I've been so miserable for the past 3 years & learning to deal with other life issues as well while studying has been emotionally & mentally challenging but listening to her speak has given me a tiny bit of hope that I can still turn myself around & graduate with good grades.. & land myself a job lol
This video just made me realise that I need to fulfill my dreams and there are certain things in my bucket list which can only be fulfilled if I get my degree with honours
I have sufficient materials to study Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. But, while solving problems I cannot comprehend and thus the consequent thoughts make my mind break up. This really regenerates the mind. Thank you very much for the video!!
Never give up. Keep pushing hard for success. I went through this about a year and a half ago and my grades have turned around drastically. Believe that you can even if no one will. There’s no shame in failure. The only shame there is, is a if you fail to learn from failure. What your going through will better you. God bless you
I failed algebra three times in highschool until a tutor in uni sat down with me and worked it out with me. I never thought I could do it either and when he sat me down and believed in me and worked with me - I was able to do it! Once I got, I was so proud! I learned...I just have to work...I can do anything! I can learn anything. And that's how I started my work becoming a econometrician, using maths for a living. This last semester I was asked to consider getting my Honours since I got it so well.
+Aadi Sankhla I'm really glad you watched then because you can get passed this hard time with the right mindset! 💙
Gogeta Thanks, I'll never forget your words.
Motivation2Study Keep up the good work and thank you, again.
I believe in you.
Ellen Haataja Thank you! ❤️🙏
Motivation2Study Much gratitude! ❤️🙏
you go girl !! wish you all the very success!! And congratulations coz I know u will get through this !
Her voice and the way she speaks is sooo elegant.
Because she's an actress who's faking it.
There is power and depth in her speech pattern...
Very very. It really inspires me.
There was a 60 year old women in my moms university. I find that truly inspiring.
Thats inspiring
Currently there's a lady older than my mom who's in my tutor group at University. Makes me proud :)
Master Alvik that’s why it’s inspiring
Thank you. This inspired me. Thank you thank you.
*dies day before graduating*
I'm visualising my future. Although teachers always telling me that I won't make it. I will and I will never give up.
+Abdirahman Hussein step by step prove them wrong, stay strong💪🏽.
Abdirahman Hussein don’t listen to others opinion of you. Believe in your gut feeling. Don’t play small but wanting to contribute to the world. All the best to you
Janice Chee thank you. You too.
Janice Chee never give up. Keep going.
What a powerful woman
BelleBean No. Everyone has the same ability. Have you not listened
Last time I checked I wrote that she is a powerful woman.. not that we aren't all powerful women
We need more women like her!
In this amazing story, you realise how important teachers are in shaping the people we become. More credit and compensation needs to be given to teachers.

I actually became a better student just because of this video.Legit.
So I used to watch this video all the time a couple years back when I was repeating my final year of high school in an effort to raise my marks to enter an engineering degree. Its cool to come back and watch this again as a BEng Electrical and Electronics Engineering student, younger me would never believe it actually came true. Don't give up people
I'm failing my 3rd year in university. I felt so demotivated; but not anymore. I'm inspired now. I can do this 🙆
+Alicia XO that's great to hear! 🍀
Alicia XO YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
You can do it!! 🙌
Keep going champ
Alicia XO u gat this👌
I lovveeeee this women, legit brought tears to my eyes, she's so right, mind set is so important, I was failing horribly for my chemistry AS level (UK education) and everyone in my class was top, and I was not as disappointed BC I knew I had put one hundred percent into it and stayed up endlessly trying and revising, I scrapped all of my chemistry notes from last year, opened up several different textbooks and used the internet articles and completely started from scratch, I did not leave a topic until I completely understood it within an inch of its life, I practiced every frocking paper available, every question, understood and picked out all of my mistakes, until there was nothing left that I had not learned, happily received top marks the following year.... Its all about whether u think you can do something, whether u accept the challenge with open arms and just go for it, walk into the dark, don't be afraid of failing, have fun, test yourself and just see what happens if u try 100%
EDIT: wow three years ago!? I forgot that I even wrote this comment!! Glad it motivated people. Three years on I decided I didn't want to study science at university and took architecture instead, just graduated :)
Thank you so much for sharing!!! You're story is very inspirational and you touched upon one of the greatest ideas I've come across and that is when what you're doing doesn't work try something different because there is a way! Change your mind change your destiny 👍👍.
Sarah Da Congratulations lady, continue to shine as you move forward.
Olusola Udom thankyou!!! And likewise to you :)
Sarah Dah! Wow! I have to take a chemistry class soon! Your words are inspirational for me, too!
💖💖💖💖💖👏👏👏👏
It takes Nothing To Join The Crowd But It Takes Everything To Stand Alone :=)
Kamlesh Meena wow thank you for the great reminder! I think we all need to remember this through out the course of our lives
Yupp.. :)
I swear
seriously!!! so true...
You've got this! I believe in you💯
♥️
go do it for all of us
💙💚 You are amazing! It takes guts to just put your head down and go for it! Make your family proud 💪
These videos help me alot to stay motivated, Thanks!!
moneyMoney i am in the same situation as u noooo one believe in me even my family...it's sooooooooo hard
+moneyMoney it doesn't matter who doesn't believe in you, it matters that you believe in you! Never back down, you control your destiny 💙.
+아니 ANI always focus on the positive and step by step achieve your goals; one foot in front of the other don't look back👊🏼.
Another video had said, don't expect anyone else to support your dream it's your dream it's your dream not theirs so you go for it and don't let anybody take that from you! There are a lot of dream Killers out there but don't let yourself down. If you don't believe in you why should anybody else?
moneyMoney good luck man, dont give up!
Had her as one of my Calc 1 teachers a few years ago...didn't realize how awesome her story was! Congrats on the interview Olympia #respect
You can gain a smart brain at any age
No.
True :)
Ansel Nil
believe in yourself and you can also get it.
Your brain can never be smart, you just learn to think and solve problems more efficiently which in return creates more difficult problems to solve. The moment you think you are smart is the moment in which you stop learning. Don't ever be smart, keep learning instead.
Being smart is basically having a good memory along with common sense.
Okay I failed a course twice and here I am at 21 years old contemplating dropping out ... You know what I'm gonna stick in this , if she can I can too
Wow, I really forgot about this comment... thank you guys so much for the positivity, I appreciate you all. Its 2 years later, I switched majors that year to teaching and I'm doing exceptionally well to the point where I've earned a full time scholarship. Sometimes if the door doesnt open, perhaps it's not your door ... I love you all 😘🤗
You can do it!!! 💙
You got this!
You can do it!!!!
What course and why'd you fail?
@Wahid Alhamidi same
This video has its own unique vibe.
No matter how hard it may all seem.
her mind is beautiful
+kenesha john, I agree 💙
Agreed!
Well said.:-)
Her face too!
Truely souly powerful
I'm at this point haha!! The uncertainty of it all is terrifying... I decided to keep on fighting for my dreams!!
I understand. Failed precalc n still need to go thru calculus, chemistry, physics etc.I'm terrible at math but this is not going to stop me from obtaining my engineering degree. I'm in college with young people smarter than me. I feel like time is ticking for me. I'm 30 and just beginning my journey.
mayra loredo
wow and I thought I was old. Lets hope for the best, for all of us.
This is definitely me, because of my love for video games and wanting to learn how to make them, I took up programming and I went through 2 different colleges and failed half of my classes each time and only managed to barely pass my math class(despite the fact that I love math).
I want a different job than retail but I need my license, yet iv failed 4 times at the road test which forces
Me to re-take drivers education at 26.
The more I try to push forward the harder life knocks me back. Still fighting though, can’t let failure after failure after failure keep you down. My desire for success is much stronger than the pain from failure(even though it fucking hurts).
Failed algebra and made it to calculus? Astounding.
+Pamela P that just makes her story even more powerful in my eyes!
She failed both but had to retake it.

Give up on my Mum
Give up on my Dad
Give up on my Wife
Give up my Education because of Circumstances ?
This is it. "When you are aware of yourself". Thank you soo much. I was seeking for this answer.
+Ved Vikas, exactly this speech is full of incredible wisdom! In a lot of ways she is talking about mindfulness and being present in the moment, fully aware of our thoughts, controlling our confidence, and the need to change our mind to grow and learn 💙💙💙.
PeterbestIq Lockbart, Awareness doesn't stop you. It gives you the limitless possibilities to explore yourself. It opens up the doors for you.
How did you do it? I am an engineering student. Help me. PLEASE

Fight back and learn from your mistakes 💪🏽.
Thank u💛, I'm going to try😓😥
Zoe Stevenson I'm in the same case as you. We will do it and one day, we will do : "I made it"
how are u now
As a Muslim college lady in America, I too understand when she says we stand out so be 2x as good.
Playing Victim card would never make you to succeed.
Ankle Socks
No. You have to admit discrimination does happen in some companies during the hiring process. There’s still some stigma about Muslims, blacks, and Hispanics and how competent they are for certain jobs.
Might be failing my last semester in college, this is what I needed to hear.
Thank God for this woman!
Thank you.
I just failed an exam too. Your comment gave me hope :)
i can literally relate to your comment, including my love for astronomy and the fact that i want to be an aerospace engineer too!
She is speaking nothing, but truth on the mindset part. ~Smile!

I failed chemistry 2 Times. I switched my major because I “knew” I couldn’t do it. The only black girl in many of my classes I was intimidated. Thanks for this video! It resonated so deep
Now you're pulling the race card to blame others for your ignorance. Pathetic.

I'm inspired to learn physics because its such an interesting subject and its honestly such a powerful field
This is what society needs, men and women like her,
not the ones who want free stuff from government, and just sit around and complain all day.

This is an incredible speech from Olympia LaPoint on how she had to literally change her thought process in order to realize that she had the ability to first get into University and then go from a failing student to graduating top of her class in Rocket Science.

(I'm 20 now, this is what I'm going for, here's to hoping I can find the way by 50!)
But it's the safest :)
No matter what you need the right mindset, and you might want to think about changing your circumstances / environment first and the people that you know / talk to often if you think they will hold you back, no matter what approach you take if you're surrounded by the wrong people that don't support the you that you want to be then it'll cripple you.
I am in med school and in 2nd year and I felt like I didn't belong here. This is comforting, to know I can start again from zero or lower.

Failed math 3 times prior to uni ..... Now I'm near completing an Econ. and Statistics major with 30 credit free elective math courses.

Olympia... what a name of success. ~~~
This video helped me a lotttt 😊 Hopefully I'll start thinking differently and start excelling at math and school in general.

yeah........ we just need a little push and life will find a way. we just freakin' need to close our eyes and do it. And sometimes all those hardest things are more simpler than we could ever understand......... we just think it as complex. World is big.But so are you.Know thyself.
Oh my god. I've watched a lot of motivational videos but I feel like this beautiful woman is talking exacly about me.
I really needed this.
This came at the right time. I have failed both calculus 1 and 2. Started calculus 3 this sem and I was almost giving up but now I know I need to shift my thinking and it can all change
+Ms old-school positive thinking changes how we act! 🍀
How it went for you now after a year did you make any progress🤗
She's so sophisticated......I just emulate and admire her..
Loved it! "are we going forward no matter what is going to happen?" wonderful and inspiring!
I must have listened to this at least 100 times in the last year and somehow it still manages to make me want to get up and work for my dreams. Such a powerful and beautiful speech!
This was my mathematics professor!
Bobby Reyes liar
@@jalalhassan6897 do you have proof he is lying?

Thank you very much for the video!!
its so true i am passing through these hard times and so far after crashing two semesters ive figured out its my fear that has held me back.
+Bilal Khan but not anymore because with understanding comes the power to change! Best of luck to you💙.
