    I think I dig the packaging. Without a doubt an improvement over the last design. I suppose the only concern would be the exposed part of the car getting chipped up from falling off the pegs..etc…

  • @Sayres434

    There should be at least a clear thin cover in my opinion. Having the car completely exposed is silly

      ikr. It is easier to rip cardboard than pry off a glued plastic piece.

      @@abbiravindhran8424 , has nothing to do w theft if it's gonna get ripped off it's gonna get ripped off. I've bought several old 20-40 year old cars that were stored maybe in some humidity and the card and blister was destroyed but at least car was protected. I just think a small square plastic window should be covering the exposed portion and it would still cut down on at least 80% of the plastic but what do I know ha

      It's going to suck for collectors and it would also be way easier to shoplift, considering the cars are around 5x more

    I work at Dollar Tree, and while we only ever get the $1 models, I have to say that John is right, the blister is not a deterrent - I will find at least one card and blister, separated, with the car MIA, per case that gets stocked onto the pegs; and we've got the lowest rate of shrink in our district, too 🙄

      I'd assume the ones doing that are small kids. I figure most other shoplifters would just take the car with the card.

    I don't get with that exposed area!?! Why they did that?? It can get damaged while shelling in the stores, rough handling and dust.
    You shouldn’t keep any part of your product exposed in your package...it’s as simple as that.

      A thing Ive seen is people buying m2 or auto world or similar, and putting a basic hot wheels in the packaging, and returning it. And usually, Walmart will put clearance stickers on them. I've seen a lot of empty blister packs, across all brands, even adventure force (Walmarts bargain brand, is basically maisto in different packaging) which im sure is just kids who dont know better, but in the back of my mind i know its some grown man probably.

  • @sourcingsailor4987
    @sourcingsailor4987 10 месяцев назад +10

    I don't like the die-cast or at least half of it, being exposed to the open air. The great thing about the plastic blister is that not only does it protect the die-cast, but it stops dust and more from getting into the die-cast, itself.
    But, when you have half of the die-cast exposed to open air, it's undoubtedly going to lead to dust, scratches, smudges and disgusting fingerprints.
    Then, guess what happens when dust accumulates? It becomes small, tiny particles of dirt, that hardens. So, now you have dust/dirt particles in between the part of the die-cast exposed to the open air and the molding, doing what?
    Scratching the die-cast, that won't be apparent until after you or I opens it.

    The side mirrors on the A-pillar on that Bronco bothered me at first because I thought Matchbox had gone the way of Majorette but then I realized they’re like that on the real car, owing to the detachable doors! Should have known Matchbox wouldn’t miss a trick like that.
    So many winners in this batch, but it’s the Porsche and the Lancer that really sing to me! Sure hope I can find them!

  • @sohchx
    @sohchx 10 месяцев назад +1

    In my recent findings with these after purchase is that the inserts are physically damaging the paint on some vehicles, along with also removing paint from them in some spots. I also saw a lancer on the pegs that had front fender damage from being exposed. Definitely not a fan of the packaging especially being that I got damaged vehicles.

  • @sourcingsailor4987
    @sourcingsailor4987 10 месяцев назад +3

    Concerning the stealing of die-casts, I don't think this packaging will decrease, nor increase the rate at which people are stealing die-casts. Primarily because if people want to steal a die-cast, they will find a way to do so, nothing is going to stop them, regardless of the packaging.
    With that said, I personally HAVE seen an uptick of "empty" Hot Wheels and Matchbox packaging lying in the back of shelves or far back on the pegs over the last month or so. I don't know what's up with that.

    Just saw the video of Jason (The Mustang Hunter) opening one of these new Moving Parts cars
    Not only is there a issue of the open part of the package exposed to light (possibly causing oxidation of the paint) and dust ,but the inner orange (?) material that holds the car is in direct contact with the roof and hood
    He noticed that there was some paint transfer from the car to that holding material
    I seems to me that this package issue is going from bad to worse (at least the original blister version didn't damage the car)

  • @Andrew-mk7rm
    @Andrew-mk7rm 10 месяцев назад +2

    I don't like the exposed window, too tempting for a thief to be able to see and touch the bare car... Their packaging always sucks, the orange is such an eye sore, although that new packaging looks slighty more reddish, but it's still way too bright. Matcbox packaging should either be black, grey, or white

    If Mattel really interested in reducing plastic, they should reduce the mass production of models they are churning out that are made mostly from plastic. The new packaging is not much better as half the model is exposed & the other half is hidden. I prefer packaging that shows the whole model and is completely sealed.

    @BearPIGCustoms 10 месяцев назад +1

    I agree with the damage concern. Don't care about thieves because they gonna do what they gonna do. But I would prefer if the entire car is just sealed in the box and call it a day. I love the boxed main lines because of the nostalgia in their moniker. So yes, please just do away with the compost, which it's manufactur probably does harm the environment so what's the point. Go head and cover that corner that is exposed, and yall probably save money.

      @64wheels (another creator who does hot wheels stuff) had issues with the foam taking small bits of paint from the car, the foam would stick to small, wet areas of paint and it would dry, the car gets opened, the paint gets chipped from the small chunks. I feel like a paper lining to wrap the car would do good.

    I like the packaging less than previous. Buying something new made from recycled metal is not a selling feature for me either. Metal blooming is a problem when Zinc Alloy (ZAMAC) is off. I would think more likely with reclaimed zinc, this can cause car bodies to crumble years after they are purchased, but they are guaranteed for life, keeping in mind that means the life of the company. Does Mattel ask their customers what they want? Seems like they are catering to an audience that is not part of their customer base. Just my opinion, nice mix nonetheless.

    Plus, the edges are fragile and ding, flairs and/or creases easily.

    • @millionmilegarage9587

      Yes, I have most of the moving parts for this year sans a couple that I guess aren’t released yet. I keep mine in a large plastic bin that easily holds all of them but they are a little awkward. The upside is they are easy to spot on the pegs because they always seem to have a couple mainlines hanging in front of them.

    I understand the need for lowering the usage of plastic materials for environmental reasons and its good from the standpoint where you will open the packaging and play with the car, but from the standpoint of a collector who wants to keep the car in the original packaging, its not good. The plastic blister works like a "time capsule" and now those collectors will be forced to buy PLASTIC protectors for the cars they want to preserve and maybe pass to their children. Some will say, most of the people will open the package and throw away the packaging, but than I can argue that you don't need so much paper for the card and so much paint and chemicals for the picture of the vehicle on the card. Knowing how some people behave in the stores, lot of the cars will be scratched.

    These new packages are absolutely horrid. First off, half of the car isn't visible, which makes it impossible to see if the rear half of the car has defects such as missing wheels, bad tampos, etc. The cars don't show the moving feature either. They're worse for the collectors that like keeping their cars packaged or that display them carded. They're subjected to dirt and dust, and they don't fit in a protector. Can also be subjected to scratching or scuffing when stored. All in all a terrible design.

    The thing about the packaging is: Blisters on plastic don't really keep it safe, HOWEVER, having the model at your touch, literally half of it widely in the open undoubtedly passes the sensation of "easier to steal", therefore, if someone is dirty enough to do this, they're encouraged to do it more easily when seeing that half of the car is already out in the open. Do you understand what I'm trying to say here? I don't condone this kind of attitude, but sadly that's the reality.

Chase, Treasure Hunt, Super Treasure Hunt, Special Edition, Limited Edition, 1 of 15,000, etc. are just selling gimmicks that Mattel uses to get you to buy their products. Only stupid people run all over town looking for these gimmicks. They never think about how much time, wear on their vehicle, and gas they waste looking for these gimmicks. Mattel Toy Company is laughing at them all the way to the bank. 🙄

Not to mention increased chance for physical damage to the diecast during shipping, handling, and storage. Oh, and dust and such getting in there. Additionally the change to damage the car getting it out of the inner packaging. No thanks.

    The first packages are ugly. Though it’s not really a problem as it doesn’t really have card arts similar to Hotwheels. The new one looks really great but easy to steal lol.

    Smart having an opening hood on a stupid electric vehicle. Just a thought, how about an Opening TAILGATE.

    dont really care for the new packaging. dust and dirt will get in the box while on display. increased chance of being damaged in store or in shipping. prefer to see the entire car....I know that there will be some where the color on the packaging will be different (slightly) than the actual car and I know that will look wonky. sorry Mattel, as a collector of moving parts, this was not the way to go.
