- During the Second World War, King George VI refused to send his children abroad to safety, in North America. This was a powerful message of solidarity to send at a time of national suffering.

The Queen Mother famously said, "The children will not leave without me. And I will not leave the King. The King will stay, come what may."
sounds so cool. legendary quote
Also during the blitz when Buckingham Palice got hit she said "finally I can look the eastend in the eye"
After reading this comment and replying I had a thought, there are so many great quotes but most are old can you think of a modern quote that will be remembered in years to come? Off the top of my head I can only think of Eagle has landed/one small step for man...
And that was over 50 years ago.
My Great Grandmother said this on matter "She didn't look half starve"
We were blessed in WW2 to have two such leaders, Churchill and the King😊
Churchill was bribed to destroy Europe and the British Empire by Strakosch.
You used the wrong name"mary".
King George's wife was called Queen Elizabeth, their daughters are called Princess Elizabeth( now Queen Elizabeth II)and Princess Margaret.
Queen Mary was the mother of King George.
i thought it was Princess Mary the Kings sister
Mary was King George VI’s sister
Churchill as PM & King George VI we're two of the greatest leaders of the last century.
Churchill was a traitor.

I had no idea that King George kept his daughters in London during the Blitz. Inspirational. 🤔
They weren't kept in London but rather in Windsor Castle. Still great of them though!
The girls wouldn’t leave without their mother who wouldn’t leave because the king needed her for support
Plot twist they actually supersonic jetted🛩 to Canada 🇨🇦 😆
I seem to recall the Queen Mother said “now I can look the East End in the eye” after Buckingham Palace was bombed
yes, she did. A really admirable woman!
" the children won't leave without me I won't leave without the King and the King will never leave"
The king refused to leave his kingdom.... and his wife was queen elizabeth the queen mother mary of teck was his mother
king George was brave men and great king. Queen mum was great lady and great queen. rest in peace in heaven
Amen.
He was the Best King we've seen so far...Best King and Good father who raised a better Queen....God Bless the Royal Family
King Edward VIII was the only worthwhile modern Royal.
Queen Elizabeth, then a princess drove an ambulance in London during the blitz. That was a dangerous job.
Prince Edward flew a helicopter in the Falklands War and served as missile bait (to re-direct anti ship missiles).
Prince William flew a helicopter for England's Coast Guard, rescuing people from the North Sea (a dangerous job).
Prince Harry, a machine gunner did a tour in Iraq and one in Afghanistan.
The royals have my respect and admiration. They are the real deal.
All true enough, but it was Andrew not Edward who served in the Falklands back in the 80's. 🤔
@@johnhart3480 Thank you for the correction. I appreciate it.
😀 Your welcome
spoken like a true peasant
@@kazi789 Kazi, I realize that you are a flamer, but:
1) As a military veteran I respect that the royals contribute to their country when it would be easy for them not to.
2) Less than 3% of the US population has served in the military and when you talk to vets they say:"Oh, my dad served", or,"my uncle served." What it comes down to is that it is a collection of families that serve this country.
It was not george the fifth and his wife was not mary but elizabeth
I’m a direct descendant of King James VI and I; and I’m proud to have some small relation to King George VI; great man and even greater King.
Families a Bunch of theives murderers and looters.
Proud u say? 😏
The triumph of all this was the Queen Mother. She was George 's strength and what a strength!!
REST IN PEACE YOUR MAJESTY 🇷🇺❤🇬🇧
¿Who is Bertie?
"King George VI was born Albert Frederick Arthur George Saxe-Coburg-Gotha on December 14, 1895, in Norfolk, England. Though formally known as "His Highness Prince Albert of York," within the family the future king was called "Bertie," and, as a young man, "Albert.""
"George VI was King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Commonwealth from 11 December 1936 until his death. He became known as a symbol of British determination to win the Second World War against Germany."
Oops an Un-enviable country because of dowager Elizabeth and Charles.
wow
SAINT Albert Frederick Arthur George, Holy King of Britain and Emperor of India, please pray for me, a sinner...
Do not ask man...no man is holy...but God is..Jesus taught us to pray to The Father...and that have faith that Jesus had raised from the death and you will be saved

He/she was right though. Have a look at them now.
@BLAIR M Schirmer king George VI served as midshipman during WW1 and fought in the battle of Jutland. Then he served in RAF
George tmobile executive
😊
Wow how incredibly humiliating for you ....this is supposed to be an educational video and you didn’t know King George VI’s wife was named Elizabeth! I’m going to assume I should unsubscribe from these things because if you can’t get this right what facts can you get right?
I assume she was referring to the King's sister.
G when they said George and Mary they were referring to King George VI’s siblings. Prince George, Duke of Kent who sadly was killed in action during the war.
C'est dramatique
Firstt TY
Most likely one of our own bombs.
That's what I was thinking, lol.
Ah yes, the British colonists and their extractive capitalist Aristoctats, Lords, Dukes, Barons…they all were with working class Brits during the Blitz.
And that's the reason why the Western world (including the UK), Japan, & Korea succeeded in the first place. They accepted the reality of hierarchy but their nations had been found on the idea of close cooperation between the upper & lower classes.
In contrast with the landowners of Latin America, the elitist regimes in Africa & the Middle East, the aristocracies/oligarchies of those states are completely detached from the people & didn't care about national progress at all as opposed to the US, British, & German industrialists, Japan's Zaibatsus, & Korea's Chaebols.
Tmobile Biden trump politics
She was such a unpleasant, greedy, selfish woman who thought she was better than everyone else. It’s no wonder that King Charles is the way he is…..because of her influence. What a shame. Britan will be an enviable country because of her and Charles.
The Blitz was in response to the RAF bombing cities and towns in Germany.
