Aleks Le is 1 of the best dub voice actors ever he has voicied not only sung jin woo but as well Luke from street fighter 6 mikey from tokyo revengers protagonist from persona 3 reload mash of Mashel sonon kusakabe from final fantasy and surprisingly zenitsu from demon slayer which he did a pretty good job on zenitsu truly 1 of the goats

The Japanese VA for Jin-Woo is not bad, he just gets overshadowed by the performance of Aleks Le, especially with the little additions he was allowed to make. It is like a pro and a top pro battling it out. Both good, but one is just too much a powerhouse.

The sub elitism is real and it is bonkers! And it doesn't surprise me to hear that you got a lot of hate for trying to do a dub reaction. Please do more! I think the way to combat the anti dub hate is to normalize watching dub by putting out more dub reactions and other content. You're right - I hope this performance changes some minds too. English dubbing has improved tremendously the last 15 years and within the last 10 especially. There are a ton of great English VAs putting their hearts into the roles! Its tragic to see all the hate against them and their work - especially from those who didn't listen before deciding how they felt about dub or only listened to a line or two out of context and based their entire opinion of dubbed anime on it.
Personally, I prefer dub to sub. For many reasons but one of those reasons is this exact case... as an English only native speaker, there are so many instances where sub doesn't have the intended impact for me. Because English and Japanese are different in more than just that the words are different - we also speak differently, we use different tones, different emotional emphasis on different words. And for me, that is very distracting - which just ruins my immersion into the show. (Made worse by missing visual context while reading subtitles and needing to pause or rewind to make sure I'm catching everything and understanding everything.) It all comes down to immersion for me - dub I usually get immersed and sub I rarely ever get immersed.

Jin woo vs igris fight dialogues are better in dub too make sure to react that as well, dub voice actor actually didn't knew English and when he got the appointment he specifically came to America and learned English. He added his own dialogues too in igris fight which were not originally planned.

no one was mad when they sad "okirou" except idiots what'd you expect them to say "AH RAI ZOO?" Even in the korean version of the source material they used the korean word for it and not "arise". If they did say "Ah Rai Zu" that would make it cringe as hell. It only works in something like Eminence in Shadow because that anime is MEANT to be cringe, and it embraces it. If they pronounced it perfectly, then that'd be inconsistent considering up until that moment, he had been pronouncing english words with a japanese accent. I'm just glad they actually USED Okirou and not "Ta Te" or smth meaning to stand up. If you wanna hear English words, watch the english version.

The "Arise" whispers in the background on the 3rd attempt were added in at Jinwoo's VA's suggestion to give it that extra touch.
