Absolutely love this channel. Keep up the absolutely amazing work!
Had this uke for a couple years. Stays in tune once strings are broke in. Sound improves as the wood ages a bit. The clear covers on the tuner pegs can pop out. Excellent value. Mine is played almost daily. Nut is plastic but I've had no issues with it. The cable inside is easily tucked up into the inside top. Uke strings generally last about 8 months to a year with daily playing. Then, they either are difficult to retain tuning or break eventually. You can also use fishing line as strings if it's flourocarbon. I like using a low G top string on mine. 30, 40, 50, 60, and 80lb test fishing line will serve all your concert and tenor uke string needs. I'm amazed this solid top mahogany uke can still be bought for under $100. It's a good product at an affordable price. As a fellow surf music lover you should be all about ukes. With a leather pick the Donner DUT line can surf.
@fartpoobox ohyeah As wood ages, it both dries and hardens causing more and clearer sound reflections. Not a myth. Just physics.
Lots and lots and lots of tuning. Best video ever!!!
I love your videos because you goof around with the sounds like I would.
By the way, all the pedals in use is never enough.
I have its twin. My first tenor ukulele and still one of my favorites. Thanks for the video!
Just bought one of these Donners through your link Mr. Ryan, thanks for the review!
Just got it next day through Amazon Prime and this little Uke is really fantastic for the $$. I am impressed! Also right now there is a $40 coupon on Amazon for this, so after tax is like $52 total!
Cant beat that for all open pore mahogany front, back and sides.
They did in fact come from the same factory and still do. Very good guess!
to take you one step further, the same line is used for both guitars. the only difference is in the final picking for color and hardware placement. I am very impressed that you guessed this.
I have the Donner concert version
The tuners work great. They don't skip. New strings take time to settle especially in the first 24 hours. After about two weeks mine would stay in tune for days, and I play it a lot. For the price it was great. After four years, it still sounds great, especially with a low-G. Thinking about getting the tenor version in your review.
I’m all about the sound with all the pedals on!
Kool, Dude! That had to be the BEST unboxing ever, especially that you demo'd all the neat pedals & what can happen when uke is plugged into them. THAT was wild! I just acquired my 6th child based on Katie Denure's review of Donner ukes, along with the 300+ reviews on Amazon, scoring a 4.5... Anyway, I got the Donner DUC-405, elect-acoustic Concert... and for the price point, I LOVE this little voice! I immediately put on D'dario tenor low g, been playing Christmas carols with Cynthia Lin's Holiday Jams a couple days & I may do the rest of the strings with warmer intonations... Thanks again... CharLee @Ragamuffin_Ukes
I started on classical guitars...sometimes nylon strings can be a pain to get tuned. "Tunr-Time" got his workout in today.
You said that output from the ukelele pickups was causing clipping. Would it drive the amp enough to make a useable overdrive/distortion sound?
Would you recommend the HB-35 plus for a budget 335? Or is there another option you would recommend?
With the guitar effects pedals, it sounds a lot like 70's Prog Rock Music
Fun video today. Uke out to check it out. 👍
Have ever tried a felt pick on a ukulele? I prefer them to a plastic pick.
Do you put both batteries in at same time and witch way do batteries go
Given you like to use picks, you could try leather picks with ukuleles, its what I use with my Electro Donner Tenor ukulule, personally I think they sound better than guitar picks on my ukuleles
you don't want to have 2 baritones but you have 3 ukes???
Bold of you to assume he only has 3
Bought the Donner Uke off the back of your review. Im new to Ukes - how long should it take until the tuning holds? Straight out of the box, after a few strums it needs retuning? Thanks!!!
Spend some time stretching out the string by hand (carefully lifting and pulling while making sure not to just rip it off the body). When you get these ukuleles fresh from the factory the strings are seldom ever brought to tension first. For nylons this thin, they need some heavy wearing in to hold tune. Honestly it happens to all of them to the point I’d assume Fender are just pre stretching the stings before shipping, or they are simply a higher quality string.
@@ryanjenkins649 thanks!!!!
So I got this the other day, what would I need to start recording stuff on my PC. Absolute beginner here, so you may have to spell it out for me. Please and thank you!
I bought one on Amazon only w/o the electronics for my 8 year old granddaughter hoping I did good 👍🏼
26.00 in sounded like steel drums, when you strummed, could have been in a church.
Can we buy a sticker of tuner tuna time anywhere? 🥺👉👈
8:42 RIP Jazzuke
Dude, 21:50 sounds doooooooope
thanks - bought one...today they are additional 30 bucks off....so 59 bucks...great price
Amazing price! I’m waiting for mine to come. How is it?
Might that be an Acoustic150 amp head by your right elbow?
yep! Ive got a 150 and 150b here.
Right now, that Donner is going for $49.99 on the company website.
I mean you have to change strings on a ukulele because like guitar strings, Ukulele strings get dull after awhile.
27:52-28:06 sounds like a church organ
Oooka Lay Lay
Sound track to "My Cousin Izzy: The Two Ukes".
Oh there's tons of Donner pedals you haven't seen yet
They are being stingy about sending everything. I get the feeling that a lot of import brands are trying to phase out their cheap mini pedals.
@@60CycleHumcast It is possible the "mini" phase has run it's course. IMHO there are simply too many on the market (all pedals) and I'm not sure just how much room there is for them all. I guess time will tell. :-)
Put it with a fucking death metal distortion to see what happens
Is it just me or is the pickup in the Donner ridiculously noisy. The Fender didn't seem to have that
it had a ton of output, i couldn't get it low enough to not clip
That Fender sounds awful, I have a living room full of all the sizes, I have been playing ukes since I was seven and I am 55 in September. The Chinese made Lark that I got for Christmas in '72 sounds better and has a fuller sound and it is a soprano." Fender stick to guitars!" 😎🎸🎙✅
A tenner ukulele? That's cheap. #dadjokes4tw
Play some metal...
