In this week's Plant-based buzz we cover some global and ANZ stories.
🌍Let's start with Global. Next Gen Foods, Otherwise known as @Tindle from Singapore has raised Euro $100M for their Series A round. This is the highest raise by a plant-based meat Company at this stage.
🌎 Unilever, one of the largest global food brands, is going all in on plant-based. Their in-house scientist compiled 141 global nutrition studies and found the benefits of plant-based significantly outweigh those with animal products.
🌍Finally, one of the largest meat companies in the USA, Cargill, conducted a survey of 6000 people in 11 countries to identify what's important to them in purchasing decisions. Sustainability is ranking even higher now!
IN ANZ,
🌏 @funkyfields brand Naturli has moved its manufacturing to Australia, partnering with Botany Group. This will reduce the price and the dependency on freight.
🌏 Ovolo Hotels Group dedicates another year to being vegetarian. They were the first hotel chain to adopt plant-based for sustainable reasons. They are also producing a how-to guide for others in hospitality. Well done!
🌏 Finally, Change Foods ( Australian Born and now based in San Fran), has raised $16M for their precision fermentation startup. Think 🥛 but no 🐄. Another big milestone for them.
We held a reconnect session for plant-based founders last week. And the feedback was really interesting. We share this in our newsletters. Unfortunately many couldn't make it. So we are holding a series of events beginning the 21st of Feb to the 28th of Feb at 3pm AEST and each session is limited to just 6 founders and MD to hear from you.
