Fast and furious with 24 gears 😂😂
😂😂
I remember them shifting that many times in the movies 😂
🤣🤣😭😭😭
Honda always had good cars. The artificial sound is the worst i have ever heard. It would totally make me crazy..holy. The handling and the front axle are good as usual.
Btw. The guy is a really nice dude. I hope He will get His New Type R soon, he deserves it.
Agreed. I couldn't do it.
is the worst ? U never listen the sport mode in 308gti
@@aikhaa996 I have test driven a 308 GTI a few years ago, when it still had 272HP with no OPF. Great Car imo. I think the Sound actuator wasnt half as bad as this one.
This Honda here has a high pitch sound and a CVT that mimics a DCT, which is insane. It mimics non existant gear changes. To me that is worse then just artificial sounds. I hate CVTs with a passion.
@@t3chn0m0 To be precise, there is no CVT in this car, technically there's no gearbox at all. Traction is 100% electric, the engine acts as a generator and its speed is mostly unrelated to speed and acceleration.
They introduced these fake gear changes because people complained a lot about Toyota's CVT feel.
In Honda's series system the natural condition of the engine in this fast track environment would be to drone at constant max RPM most of the time, which apparently would be a worse option for most people.
It’s why I hardly use R mode. In that mode it amplifies it. I should pull the fuse but I’m lazy
Please do more of these! Regular cars driven to the limit, I would watch.
Absolutely
This civic is mindblowing... as the speaker sound could give you a stroke literally making your mind blow up.
Yes. My shop would get you straight and cut the wire.
I often get annoyed when journalists (Clarkson especially) would misuse the words sound and noise. This is just noise, and utterly horrible). The GT3 is pure sound
Hello all, first of all thanks Misha for doing this lap with this car, i have one and i was wondering if it would ever happen and im glad that it happened .
Regarding the car, it has no gears, yes the sound is not the best but well, but if you drive in the city in eco you have no sound and the fuel consumption is amazing, 4 litres/100km is normal but you cab go to extremes of 3.5l/100km and in highways at 120km/h you have 5.2l/100km , so that is why this setup. The car is 90% of the tike using only eletric engine and only above 120 or with a hard pull will engage the clutch for the ICE. There are no gear and no CVT is basicly a eletric car with a generator in it.
143hp for the 2.0 i4 engine, 184hp from the Electric motor, but it only has a 1kw battery. The sound is driving me crazy :)
This is not a CVT. The way the Honda hybrid system works is that the ICE acts as a generator which powers an electric motor (which can also be powered solely or partially by the battery pack). The electric motor is what drives the wheels. There is only a small cruising speed range (around 100-120kph) where a clutch closes and the wheels are directly driven by the ICE. At any other given time, the ICE and the wheels are completely disconnected, which is what allows the ICE to run in its most efficient region, hence the great fuel consumption. The downside to this, however, is that the engine sound is really unproportional to the acceleration. The gear-shift mimicking sounds were Honda's attempt to improve this correlation, but I agree it was a hit and miss... Nevertheless, a really solid chassis which would make for a great tuning platform if they released a petrol version for those who can't afford a Type-R.
Well explained! 👍
In the US, there is SI version, which is a petrol version using this amazing chasis. Unfortunately, we do not have such option for whatever stupid reasons here in Europe. 🙄
@@slivkask8329 The lack of SI in Europe is such a shame. I have the previous gen Sport which is almost there (20hp less than SI from the same 1.5T) and love it as a fun daily. I'd 100% get the SI if it existed here.
you havew to suffer for the climate change mate.... @@slivkask8329
The way he was driving it was all petrol. Electric motor only kicks in on lower speeds.
The way he was driving it was all petrol. Electric motor only kicks in on lower speeds. Hence the constant drone from the engine.
Going from the engine note of the Cayman GT4 RS to this Civic hybrid’s speaker exhaust just hits differently 😂
I liked that the fuel consumption stayed right in between 6.2 and 6.4 L/100km
over 1372 km it doesn't change a lot anymore..
yes you can drive this car with 5.x in the mix round 7 at the german autobahn and 3.x in the city
Kind of amazing right.
That was the average over 500km not that drive in particular. Probably a lot lower.
I drive a manual CR-Z (obviously with small bits of mods), and I think one thing Honda's 'sporty' hybrid cars excels at is that you can enjoy your car (in terms of 'feelings' - Honda put lots of efforts into ensuring a low sitting position) when you want to (just switch to 'Sport'), yet you can also relax when you want to (just switch to 'Normal') and get on with your day. Many cars can deliver fun, but few of them can do both, and if you plan to enjoy a car more/keep it for long, both really matter (good to have fun on a run, but few cars could also make good fun getting groceries).
For people complaining about the sound, it was totally not meant for the track. If you drive the car a bit enthusiastically on a back road it actually sounds pretty good and you would here more noises of the car going through the gears. It sounds bad and droney here because on a track you maintain really high speeds.
As an owner of an FL5 Sport Hatchback (non-hybrid), this video certainly makes me appreciate my car a lot more. It's not fast, by any means, but the handling isn't bad, and the chassis is set up decently enough that you can have a little fun with it. As a daily, it's a great car and gets very good fuel mileage and the practicality of having a large storage space in the back is useful. Interestingly, when I have my car in "sport" mode, it doesn't produce artificial gear changes. It's just a constant sound, like what most CVTs are. Perhaps that's just a thing with the hybrid models? I don't really know, but either way, the sound isn't going to be great. I'm sure we'll see people putting exhaust cans on their FL5s in the not-so-distant future, but it's not going to really make the cars sound any better. If you want a car that sounds good, there's plenty of other ones on the market that are far better at it. You'll just have to pay a somewhat steeper price for them, unfortunately.
Your car has an actual CVT, so the engine is not completely free to run at preset RPMs and produce fake gear changes. In the hybrid the engine is completely disengaged from traction, so they were somehow free to let it run at whatever RPMs they wanted it to sound.
It does that in any driving mode, luckily only when accelerating fast. The only difference in Sport mode is they added the audio enhancement on top of actual RPMs.
fl5 is the chassis code for the type r. If it is eHev, that's fl4. For L15B engine variant, it is FL1
@@dann1s.365
Ah, my bad. That's good information to know. Everyone is always talking about the "FL5" generation of Civic, but if that's an incorrect chassis code for the standard Civic, then people need to do a little more research before speaking on it (myself included).
@@CaseyCollier Just call it the Civic 11 or Mk11
@@paulklp8262
Yeah, "11th gen" is what most people will probably understand anyway, so that makes sense. Nobody's going to know what "FL1" means, since the cool Civic that everyone really wants is the FL5.
As the owner the sound on the ring is to much but as a daily where you don’t really floor it for that long the sound makes it more fun to drive.
I have seen this car a lot in the Netherlands and have driven it. As a journalist I completely agree with David here. Mr Cercel I would also like to test your car for my research please do let me know. Absolutely obsessed with your car.
I agree. I have this car and you are completely right. as daily this sound is very nice. And whole car is just awesome.
would be interesting to see some similar cars like Mazda 3
hybrid kicked in yo
You need to try after this a 10th gen Civic 1.5 with 182 HP, and manual shifter.
That must be the fastet lawnmower I've ever seen.
ITS A JOKE GUYS CALM DOWN LOVE THE DUDE (no Homo) AND CAR🤣
i have the integra that is built on this chassis and even with its measly 200hp, the chassis, 6mt, and the lsd are incredible, and makes me appreciate the work they put into bettering the platform for the Integra Type S/Type R even more
I had an early Accord Hybrid. For a young person on a budget it was a beast. Super fun but practical at the same time. I live in a snowy area in North America so I eventually graduated to an Acura TLX. Their SH-AWD is honestly amazing. None of the brake torque vectoring bs. Real clutch packs sending power to either side of the rear wheels. It's not fast but you get 290 HP and amazing handling. They just need to fix their spun bearing issues, if they want to appeal to a younger crowd who likes revving their engines. Definitely get the extended drive train warranty if you plan on putting it in sport+ mode.
The sound is horrendous 😕
sounds artificial, first thing i disabled in my stinger
For the pumped in engine sounds, I think you can at least easily disable it permanently by pulling a fuse.
Yes my thoughts exactly but the handling is usual honda stuff - very good.
That is not a understantment... I had to watch on mute... and this is coming from someone who has finished the gran turismos from the psx era 😂
Sounds like a real rally car sweet
Honda needs to release a hybrid version with a little more power and it would be a really good option for track/daily car
2026 Type R 😜
No please not, the Civic is already expensive enough
they already have that, its called the Si
@@ShaiyanHossain is it Hybrid tho?
@@LuizHartkopf not a hybrid but the Si gets a 6mt+lsd and 40mpg, all you need
2:08 the car is not really a CVT! It gets sold as an "eCVT" because explaining what it really is... is not easy. I mean it's an easy concept, but there's no marketing term for it.
Basically the car has no transmission. It's one gear with an overdrive gear with a system that makes the petrol engine work in a serial or parallel hybrid configuration. Basically the electric engine fills up the powerband to make it all work without real gearing, it's wild, but simple and reliable.
It's also why there's this horrific noise on top, you can have the engine rpm be completely unlinked from the car speed (i.e. the engine can work only as a generator for the electric engines)
Honestly if you kept in in drive vs sport, it wouldn't be Soo horrendous for a CVT, I'd rather have a car that stays in 1 gear than fake 30 gears 🤣
Its an electric motor simulating gears, the gas engine is only connected to the front wheels via direct drive at highway speed. Its the same principle as the Chevy volt with a gasoline generator, and an electric propulsion motor.
This is not CVT.
Appreciate the rearview camera 👍
Τhe sound is so funny, like it's from a 2002 racing game
Ah and Rest In Peace DACIA🕊🙌
The owner doesn't know the stats of his own car. This model has 184 electric HP. The engine is only a generator(only at highway speeds it moves the wheels). So there is NO combined HP.
It was a pleasure 😊 to meet you during the 24h race in the middle of the night! Yet still so reconizable, even in the dark 😂 Cannot wait for the new videos!
Great video as always! Just a quick one Misha... Which are better for handling coilovers or lowering springs as I have coilovers on now but they are not the best. Stance ultras are my current setup
thanks for driving something like this out there Misha
always cool to see economy cars like this perform decently on the ring
Romania on the map of Nürburgring
So relaxing! That fale sound is missing Vtech activation changrover! That would hv been epic!
I feel the fake engine sound would compel me to drive it into a crash barrier just so I didnt have to hear it ever again....😂😮
Contrary to what the westerners prefer, the Japanese seem to like the fake noise.
this sound is a tragedy
I love this channel, all types of cars can be fun!
Haha my mate's parents ordered one. They were sold (for like a business lease car) how well this drives compared to the rest of the cars within this price range! Cannot wait until theirs arrive!
very stiff chasis with intelligent suspension design, it works hard
I got the car two weeks ago. The Elegance version blue metal color
Its amazing.
I’m having similar thoughts about the regular Golf 150 TSI vs the GTI. Yes, the performance level is not comparable, but you can order a similar chassis setup, while 150 horses is better than GTIs from the ‘90s and plenty fast for normal traffic. And the costs difference buys you a lot of fuel to actually enjoy driving.
Same, i find the regular golf with a couple tweaks extremely capable.
Finally, i have e:hev mk11 and happy to see it on the track. The sound is not as bad as it sounds on the video. Maybe when You have pedal touching the ground all the time it may be.
I have the same car and the sound generated is not as bad as this, but I have only driven it on normal roads and not a track... to be honest I have not missed my gti that I had before, but appreciate the extra mpg
I would hope there are options to turn the engine sound off, I'd probably end up with a car that has no speakers if it was mine and you couldn't turn it off. >.
The front end of this car is beautiful. Honda makes nice cars and top engines.
right, the sound is hideous, but look at the MPG! Sooo efficient, haha! :D This Civic did better MPG on Nurburgring than my car.... on a daily run!
There's a cow trying to overtake you. I can hear the mowing
autotune cow 🤣
It's like a children's car sound! 😂
because: MATTEL POWER WHEELS.
l love new civic but this sound... real sound is VTC💪💪 l will by old real honda and test with you at the nurburgring. god luck misha from 🇬🇪❤️ 🤜🤛
At Honda HQ:
-Lets make a fake sound that sounds like car has dual clutch gearbox with 27 speeds
-Brilliant, lets do it!
The moment I heard the sound I started crying from laughter, awesome vid, awesome car
That Porsche was lucky that VTEC wasn't at full volume.
I bought my 5 speed civic hybrid last year.. Love the car to death! I am dreaming of installing a rear-mounted tesla drive unit.. We will see if it can happen over the coming years. The stock 90 ish horsepower isn't quite enough :)
Would be cool to see more hybrids especially a more performance focused one like a Golf GTE. There are some modded ones out there putting out apparently as much or more power than Golf Rs.
To be fair thus car is as fast as the golf gti mark 7 standard
He has 40K € to spend as a student???
Excuse me what the f-
yea like its nothing xD as a student with a side job i wasnt able to spend 250-300 monthly, let alone 40k
daddy money
Most likely a paid graduate student (PhD) combined with a second job. Professional students have an income...usually.
As a student … saving a bit more, get the type R next year
As a student … good to have some money in the bank
Wait till you have a regular life and a job …. Enough cars, no money in the bank 😄😂
The noise makes the car practically undriveable... how the guy still hasnt turned it off or had someone do it for him, wtf.
Power to Weight ratio makes the handling good , Honda improved the new Civics in terms of handling
I got a headache from that fake sound but the civic is good nonetheless. We have the sedan here in Malaysia and not the hatchback. And the atkinson cycle engine is really tricky, like when you are cruising at 100km/h only the electric motor is working. The engine is there to sort off like charge the battery. But when you floor it the engine also helping it.
The complains about the CVT was that it droned on and on so honda decided to make it a little more interesting. Not the best but I'd take it over that droning sound
The only thing this car needs for a daily and for the track is to find that fuse for the speaker and store it in a safe place with all the important documents. And then enjoy 🙂
You should do the 11th gen civic 2.0L and 1.5T laps too, be interesting to compare all 3
Question is if you can disable the fake engine sound? On the i30N its really easy.
He's tricked it up a bit.
Looks bloody lovely
Watching this makes me think back to those Fast & Furious cars with unlimited gear changes and takes forever to reach to the final destination. 🤣🤣
I suppose if the volume knob doesn't allow you to turn it down, i guess an owner could always pull the door cards and UNPLUG the speakers entirely. for sure that's a lot to got through, but my dog just jumped through a plate glass window. 🐕🦺
the noise in sport mode is great in real life the sound in video is distorted, I've had this car for 5 months it's just perfect :-)
Foarte frumos! Felicitari pentru masina si clipul cu Misha! :)
It’s a shame Europe doesn’t get the Si. The transmission is sweet and still has amazing handling. Also won’t cost and arm and a leg like the Type R.
on which site can we order the front blade? thanks in advance 😉
Thanks Misha I have the new Civic nice to know you recommend it.🙋🏻♂️🏴🚙
Good you were not driving the Dacia last night 😱
that is one good looking car
Use Normal mode and the fake sound will be gone. Acceleration is not difference in the hybrid (at least 0-100 is the same).
I can't hear clearly, what did the owner says about the mods of this car? Lower spring and brakes?
So the civic hatch over in Europe has a panoramic sunroof and a better hybrid system?
I'd be finding the fuse for the speakers.
Waiting time for FL5 is 1+ year. Good luck getting one.
It's possible to file for flight plans for commercial filming via drone on the Nürburgring, maybe you should consider hiring a drone cinematographer to film laps associated with your videos, would be a very cool perspective to include.
And wow, that fake engine noise is almost strangely insulting, haha.
Omg what a sound.
That E36 at the end, hell yeah! Love that classic livery!
There is a better place for E36 BMWs than a race track... Scrapyard.
@@laggyluke5700 .
RIP Blinking Dacia... will always be in our hearts...
sounds like a 90s arcade racing game
i expect to see a video that has Pittard, 296 GT3, and some engine noises soon ... !
Would be nice to test hybrid Lexus gs450h f-sport
Crazy sound civic ever 😅
Hhh good in one second I was going to bay it 50 gear change hair dryer noise I will check other thinks new gti maybe
ears left the chat
Nice video and it's great to see these kind of cars also pushed on track.
Although technically, a lot of wrongs. The car has no CVT - it a direct linkage between the ICE and the wheels when it's needed. It's mostly the EV engine that does the work, most of the times - the ICE only works in highway speeds or when in Sport mode.
Handling is one of the main reasons I'm back to Honda for my daily. Misha, you have to try the Honda CR-Z someday soon. Not fast by any means, but tons of fun. It's hybrid, but a proper manual 6+1 with no "add on" sounds in the speakers.

Why they think it’s a good idea to put fake engine sounds in cars will always baffle me. It says to me “we are ok with telling lies”. I don’t want a car that lies to me.
Good video
Did you try the new subaru impreza hybrid?
This sound would make me kill myself 😂
That sound 😂😂
Apart, laat ik het zo omschrijven, dat geluid.
Good to see my fellow Romanian on the Nordschleife.
Isn’t there a way to turn off the fake sound?
What the hell is that sound 😭😂
it sounds like in the movie fast and the furious. they just keep shifting and have infinite gears
Wait 40k and a student? Thats crazy
That’s what I was thinking. I’m 59 with a good job and can’t do that. Cars are just so overpriced right now.
That noise 😂
It'd be fun to replace the engine sound with a recording of a guy going "WAAAHHH!" like a kid pretending to be driving.
OMG, sound and "gears" are so funny and ridiculous😂
plz try a Mazda CX-60
