    If, the Church wants a place for
    Edoment Ceremonies& Temple
    Marriages, why not use the abandoned Women*s Prison instead of wasting land, and . Monies& nat resources !!!!!!!!!

      Because high density housing and another shopping center or big box store is SO much better for the environment. Better yet, how about another subdivision with bland taupe colored, boring architectural houses with identical tile roofs. 🙄

    "The standard of truth has been erected. No unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent" -joseph smith

      "Standard of truth" is pretty hilarious coming from a conman like Smith. The rubes in that cult deserve to be milked of all their money.

      Jo smith was a schizophrenic. He also consumed magic mushrooms quite frequently. His stories have changed throughout the history of this cult. The church leaders are raking in the dough because one cannot enter the temple unless one is current with his or her tithing. A former stake president of mine was caught canoodling and more with his neighbor’s wife. When his wife complained that they still kept him as a president, the church excommunicated her. That’s ok though, the adulterer paid his tithing, so he qualified to retain his position, in good standing, with the church temple recommend, and he married the lady he committed adulterer with in the temple. It doesn’t offend me but morons, oops, mormons are being constantly being fleeced for money. Temples are the revenue centers for mormon Inc.

      Well something sure stopped one from being built in Prosper Texas! Now the proposition to build that Temple has been moved to the McKinney/Fairview area where the cities planning and zoning commission just voted not to recommend approval for the Temple. Think🤔 about that!

    Las Vegas is a giant mess of urban sprawl across the desert. What would you rather have in your neighborhood, a church or another big box store? Or better yet, another high density development of cheaply built high rise apartments/condos that nobody can afford? I’d rather have the church.

    • @jonjahr3403
      @jonjahr3403 13 дней назад

      Well at least with that big box store. Everyone can enter on a daily basis and, not have to be an elite card-carrying member of a specific religion or, have to wait to go during a brief period that occurs maybe once every 25 to 50 years.

      @@jonjahr3403 just because I can go in a big box store doesn’t mean I want one as a neighbor. Besides, if you don’t believe in church, why would you want to go inside anyways?

      @@mattp.7002 As a former mormon myself, i have to say that sounds like such a Mormon response. I've known too many converts to the church whose families were heartbroken when they found out they were not allowed to attend their own sons or daughters' weddings at the temple. Just because they were not Mormon. And then there's just simply being good neighbors. The church can't just move into any residential area and build a giant building according to its own specifications. And just expect everybody to be happy with that. Especially when they're not allowed to see the inside for more than a few days every 25 to 50 years.

      @@jonjahr3403 there’s a big property in my neighborhood, in fact just across the street from me, about 15 years ago a developer tried to develop a retail development complete with a strip mall and big box anchor stores. My neighbors and I formed a community group to fight against this development. Our biggest concern was our property values and the fact that there was already another shopping center a few miles away. If any church, even the Mormon church, wanted to build a temple or whatever there, we would have been thrilled. Fortunately for us there was the 2008 recession that happened and the developers went bankrupt. The property ended up being developed into single family homes and twin homes that are all pretty low profile and nice, so we came out ok. The issues you have with the Mormon church look to be a you problem and not a me problem. I was involved with a community Scout Troop where most of the scouts were from the local Catholic Parrish, there were boys from other denominations as well as a few Mormons. I’ve never had problems with the Mormons, our Committee Chair was a Mormon that had some position in his church and he was a good decent guy who I still consider a friend. From what I’ve seen in other cities and communities near me, there’s a disturbing trend to take a commercial site that’s failed, raze it and build high rise, super low quality, high density housing and then charge ridiculous amounts of money for it. Those types of developments are bound to become urban blight in the near future. Those would be my concerns if there was a large vacant property or even a commercial property by me, not if the Mormons are going to build one of their temples.

      The property owners aren't a billion dollar corporation like the LDS cult. I'm sure they bought off a few council members. The shell companies and securities fraud are just the tip of the iceberg. Mormons are just more polite Scientologists. Sorry for these property owners that will now have to wake up to a tacky Disney castle in their neighborhood.
