I finally passed my DAT exam after all the stress.I thank God for the great opportunity and my tutor Thomas 🎊🎊🎉🎉 All my prayers to those struggling to pass through DAT cause it hasn't been easy.I hope y'all make it some day too Amen🙏
I have a cousin who never studied much,we studied together but she gives most of her time to her phone than studies after writing DAT last month, she passed and I failed😣, I asked her how she did it, just found out she got her help from Mr Thomas ..
This. Was. Everything. I needed. I am a sophomore in my undergrad literally going through the mid life crisis that you described. I’m pre- med right now but have recently started to want to pursue a career in dentistry and to see someone else go through what I’m going through and also show me it’s not too late to switch is so nice to hear and such a huge confidence boost ❤️ thank you!
I am currently a freshman undergrad student, and your videos have really helped solidify my decision to pursue a dental career. Thank you so much for all of your insight and honesty!
Your journey is LITERALLY almost the same thing that happened to me! Thought I would be a pediatric neurologist or pediatrician, but after shadowing a bit I just didn't feel called to it. The mid-college life crisis was so stressful! I was invited to shadow an orthodontist and family dentist and fell in love with dentistry! Can't wait to start school in August!
you have NEVER had a Cavity. What a role model!!! and your smile is literally perfect. I love hearing your reasons why you want to become a dentist Laura
Im from Mexico , Im also dental student and i feel so proud of study dentistry , You’re so nice, tomorrow Im going to start my 3th year in dental school 🤗
You're actually me! I just graduated from dental school at the end of last year and have been working as a dentist for the last five months. I also thought I was destined to be a paediatrician for the majority of my schooling life, I studied biomed, which is our version of pre-med in Australia and I loved kids too; there was a part of me that never wanted to see kids sick and wanted to make them smile. Despite those aspirations, I'm so thankful I chose dentistry instead and I think you'll really love it. Every day is different as a general dentist which makes each day interesting, but being able to form a bond with a patient is really so very special. And I still get to fulfil being able to see kids smile! Looking forward to seeing your career come to fruition!
My path was somewhat similar. I was pre-med since middle school, and started really second guessing my decision in the middle of my sophomore year of college. I ended up volunteering at a free dental event as an interpreter, and after volunteering and shadowing the dentists there, I realized I had never felt that excited while volunteering in hospitals with nurses and physicians. I started shadowing a dentist regularly and joined my college pre-dental society which further reassured me of my decision. Now I'm looking forward to starting this August!
Noway, love that! I've heard stories similar to yours and it's crazy how things change for the unexpected but for the better!! Can't wait for you to join the field! :)
Super similar to me. I changed my major to dentistry after shadowing and working at a veterinary office. I thought for years I was going to be a Vet 🤷🏻♀️ crazy how things happen!
It really is crazy! Haha stressful though when it seems like everyone else has their shiz together but you don't! Good thing it all works out in the end! :)
I choose dentistry because I want to help people recover and have a new smile to boost their self-esteem, I really like to be able to provide health services to people and be able to contribute something to society by using preventive dentistry and treating it to people to recover their health. teacher if I did my homework
I choose dentistry because I liked it since I was in high school, I also think it's a good career, I like to interact with people and know more about them and dentistry is one of the profession that allows you to do it.
omg is that Angkor Wat I see on your shirt?! i’m assuming you’re cambodian, like me! :) wow it’s so inspiring to see a khmer person becoming a futur dentist 💕💕 i rarely see khmer people in medicine fields 😭
i can relate to the college "mid-life crisis" because I was questioning if med school was for me. I was conflicted to pursue dentistry but i think you have swayed me that it can be field for me.
Thanks for all the info and inspiration on your channel. I especially love your dental student life videos and videos about your journey. I always wanted to be a pathologist but after shadowing I fell in love with Dentistry. I start dental school in August at MWU-IL and I’m so excited!!! Thanks again and enjoy your break !!
Hiii! Although I’m only in the first year of high school ( 6th Grade in America ) , I really want to be a dentist. I have always thought dentistry was really interesting. For ages, I have wanted to pursue a medical career, whether it was to be a nurse, or a doctor. But watching your videos have encouraged me to want to pursue a career in dentistry. I will definitely have my work experience in a dental practice!
I’m in that mid college crisis right now! I’m pre-med but am now interested in pre-dental so I’m trying to figure it out. 😅 I also thought education for a second and even took an education class this last semester but realized that I still wanted to be in health. This video helped me so much!
This is so inspring! And v relatable! Im into a mid college crisis rn wanna pursue in college rn 😂 foreshadowing nursing but im loving the dynamics dentistry brings! thank you for this!!
You should do a video on personal life as a student dentist/dentist im currently a dental student and it has been told lots about love life and so on it might be an interesting topic you could share your opinion on it
I’m Asian and I’m currently going through a journey where I don’t know what I wanna major in. I’m stuck between Medical School and Dental School, I just don’t want to pick the wrong job career and look back at it and regret everything.
Are you happy with your career choice? Do you feel stress at work? How was dental school for you where you busy all the time or did you have free time? I’m really interested in helping people as well I just don’t know what career to get into.
Yes. I finished ALL my pre-med requirements, shadowing, research, Volanteering..etc. I’m (still) part of the American Med Women Assoc. And I’m considering switching to Pre-dental
I’ve been wanting to be a dentist since I was about 6 years old! I would play dentist with my younger cousins and would check their teeth lol. I’m a currently a sophomore in college and on a pre dental track (:
I chose to study dentistry because it seems to me a very nice and interesting career, I like the welfare of people, help them with their oral health and also help them to prevent diseases and make them feel good about themselves
i wanted to go to medicine but got dentistry. because of my childhood ambition, ive read up so much abt med and alr fell in love with, but now i am accepted to dentistry, it is such a prestigious course in the uni that it will be just be wrong to decline it just to try for med again but i am v grateful for this offer and my parents want me to accept it. i was hoping someone can help me find the passion for it like all those who always wanted to be a dentist.
Your shirt resembled Angkor Wat in Cambodia! I'm so proud you know my country. Anyways, you inspired me so much to study in dentistry. Thank you so much. Love you.
My story is like yours too except I’m Australian and we get to choose right after year 12 (senior year). I shadowed doctors and was hell bent on medicine but now I changed my mind and I’m starting a bachelor of dental science this March! I think that our schools and visiting universities over-hyped medicine for what it’s worth for us but dentistry offers so much more! I can’t wait to start this new journey in my life but it’s also scary because I know nothing about it, unlike medicine which I have been exploring as a career for years.
Great video! 👍I always knew I wanted to be a dentist. I remeber when I was little I would have my brother who is a year older than me lay down with his head on my lap. I would brush his teeth, help him floss, and look at his teeth. I'm a senior in high school and I'm finishing up dental assisting school. I registered as a dental assistant with the state of washington I also started an internship with the yakima union gospel mission and I'm loving it. I start college at SPU this fall! I'm planning on majoring in physiology, we went over it in class and I found it super interesting😊
1st year medical student addressing your points on "why you chose dentistry over medicine": 4:50 1. You can own your own practice as a dentist: you can own your own practice as a doctor. 2. You're crafty with your hands: specialize in something procedural as a doctor (E.G) interventional cardiology, gastro, or even surgery. 3. Building relationships with patients: you'd be half-right, half-wrong. Depends on what you'd specialize in as an MD. 4. Work life balance: Go derm. You'll make 400k a year easily working 3 days a week. Plenty of jobs in medicine offer great work-life balances. Just wanted to shine a light on the MD side of things. I have the greatest respect for dentists tho, and I'm happy that you found the profession that suited you the best! You'll make a great doctor in the future! :)
I’ve been a flight attendant for the last 6years. I’m sick of it. Always thought about dental school. I’m 26.. is that old? To consider this career path? I really don’t know what i wanna do in life i guess. I just know FA life is not for anymore... & going back to school and staring all over is scary.... but a must.
That good video. This race caught my attention because a dance friend is a dentist and the love she conveyed when talking about the race encouraged me to decide for her, the truth every day I fell more in love with this
I am debating between dentistry and pharmacy. I currently work at a pharmacy and love my job but the job I do is far different from the one the pharmacists do. I see at times how stressed out they can be and how late they stay to get things done and I want to have that life work balance as you said. When I was little I wanted to be a dentist but deterred away from the path as I didn’t want to be in stinky mouths but I think I’m coming back to it as I like the direct relationship you get to have with patients as in the pharmacy you don’t get that and being a pharmacists you have to learn and remember a lot of things where as in dentistry you get to use your hands more and practice and I remember better that way by practice rather than memorization. I think the dentistry field is better for me but I’m nervous for all the schooling!
I start dental school two years from now ;-; wish I could rush there already.... Liked the video by the way thanks for taking the time to make these videos 😄
Hiii! I’m currently a junior in high school and ever since middle school I knew I wanted to be a dentist. I’ve also gone through a lot of instances where people discourage me from pursuing the field but I still want to pursue it. Thank you for being a great inspiration! I’m so glad I stumbled upon your channel! Keep spreading that positivity! Also, I was wondering if you could answer some questions. How did you choose the college you went to? Are the 7 year programs that some places offer worth it? How do you gain experience if you don’t have any connections? Any advice would help, thank you so much!
Hi Alyanna! Thanks so much for your kinds words! That's awesome that you're already interested in dentistry! I had always wanted to go to my state-school UW so it wasn't hard for me to decide where to go for undergrad and I loved my experience there! I'm actually not familiar with the 7-year programs but in my personal opinion, I recommend taking your time to do undergrad and then dental school afterwards so you have time to really explore and grow in college. If you don't have any connections, start by shadowing your own dentist! You can also Google search local dentists around your area and call their offices - let them know you're interested in dentistry and would love to learn more by shadowing them. Hope I answered your q's! :)
Really inspiring video, I'm on my last semester in high school but I haven't decided yet whether I want to become farmacuet or dentist. I've aimed for farmacuet for the past 4 year but now I kind of like carrier of a dentist. We'll find out where my destiny takes me.
Hello sense I was introduced to a dental program in 7th grade I wanted to become a dentist. It starts my junior of high school year. I don't remember all the specifics but I think official dentists come to my school and teach the basics like with actual models and tools and such so I am so exited! I want to go to dental school and become a dentist!
This video was very very helpful bcz i wanted to pursue medicine but ik that its hard to raise a family and that my time would be dedicated to my work so i think im going to look more into dentistry and shadow my local dentist thank u ❤️❤️❤️
My story is very similar im in the 10th grade right now and my mom is a dental assistant so i have kind of grown up around the dentist office and always wanted to be a dentist so im glad i came across your channel keep up the good work!
Does a career in pediatric dentistry make financial sense? It takes about 3 years to specialize in pediatric dentists yet pediatric dentists compete with general dentists for thos patirnt market.
My 17 year old big brother got accepted to UOP pre dental and UC Berkeley but he turned down Berkeley because UOP guaranteed Dental school interview. I Hope he will like it. He followed my dad’s cousins who are dentist as well. As for me, I want to be a pediatrician when I’m older. That might change when I get to high school. Oh btw I’m Khmer too but I don’t speak or understand the language but I can count numbers. You are so pretty…. I wish my brother get to know you but he’s only 17 going on 18 in September. He’s a great guy. He’s a baseball player as well and hope to play for college or be a professional baseball player and make great $$$ and forget dentistry.😂😂😂
Love your videos, they are very informative, also your mom is so adorable- love to see that shes been a DH for many many years.... many DH I've seen say that career only lasts 10 years if anything because of "burnout". I'd love to know what your opinion is on this.... also do you think the pathway from DH to Dentistry is a good idea? OR just go straight into Dentistry?
Sounds weird but I’m currently a high school sophomore student and I am choosing grade 11 courses. I love the idea of being a orthodontist/dentist but I don’t even know if I can do it, science is not my strongest subject and that stresses me out even more...there aren’t a lot of dentistry programs offered around me either :(
Im in med school, and I regret it lol. I would definitely not recommend it to anyone unless there is seriously nothing else in this world you want to do. It takes way too long to become a doctor.
Oh no, that's unfortunate. It does take a lot of work to become a doctor so you really need to LOVE the field and want to be a doctor for the right reasons to make it worth! Hopefully it all works out! :)
Im thinking of Dentistry as a change of career .....I also like Physical Therapy and Chiropractic.... Any advice of pros and cons on these compared to Dentistry.....Also Im 39 and I have to get my bachelor's degree and Im wondering If my age at 43 would be a good fit or a negative into dentistry school? Also what advice can I do to stand out besides having a good gpa and DAT score and references....Can I shadow for months a dentist ? Can I do molding classes or if I get my master's degree in anatomy and physiology or exercise physiology would that help to get me into dentistry school? I have this drive to go back to school because my plumbing union career folded and Im at Trader Joes and always come across a dentist whom I talk with and others in medical field....I also want to do medical mission trips and teach research.....I am somewhat creative and like art ...My only thing is I believe in Nutrition as food for medicine like hypocrates stated and do dentists play a role in Nutrition and systemic diseases ? I'd like to make the world a better place one tooth at a time....but im also a firm believer in spine health and exercise....
I’m looking Into dental hygienist I was going for accounting but it’s just not working out for me I don’t find joy in it and I’m obsessed with my teeth is that weird?
I’m a high school senior and I’m stressing out about my future career choice and I was wondering exactly how difficult dentist school is. Also, what do you recommend taking in undergraduate classes for upcoming dentist students?
@@skyybanni6667 I’m actually not pursuing dentistry anymore 😭, but I got my associate in science in biological sciences. I’m considering transferring to university to major in graphic design and I want to become a ui/ux or product designer.
@@skyybanni6667 thank you! I wish the same for you ❤️. If you’re not sure about committing to a 4 year program I’d suggest considering community college if you haven’t already. It’s a more cost effective way to get gen Ed course credit, and to explore a variety of programs.
Is that medical mission program in Vietnam open to the public? Thank you so much for this video! It was very helpful. My mom is a dental hygienist too!
Oh no, that's the worst! If being a dentist is your dream then you can do it!!! Just gotta put in the effort because it definitely is not easy!! Hope that you have others in your life that are supportive of your dreams :)
Hii! ı've been wanting to be a doctor since my childhood. ı always assume myself both dentist and doctor. But lately ı started to feel a bit pressure on me because of this uncertainty. That's why ı began to question myself . And whenever ı see a doctor/dentist or a student ı keep asking and asking their opinion, experience. Most of the doctors ı've met said me the same things that you said about medicine. And now ı am more into dentistry than medicine. Btw, thank you for this video :)))
I have graduated in mechanical engineering and i have worked for around 2 years. But now I really want to change my career into medical industry, any suggestions and preparation for me?
I finally passed my DAT exam after all the stress.I thank God for the great opportunity and my tutor Thomas 🎊🎊🎉🎉 All my prayers to those struggling to pass through DAT cause it hasn't been easy.I hope y'all make it some day too Amen🙏
Passing the DAT is when you study hard,if you can't study or you don't have time for your studies I'd advise you get yourself help like Mr Thomas
I have a cousin who never studied much,we studied together but she gives most of her time to her phone than studies after writing DAT last month, she passed and I failed😣, I asked her how she did it, just found out she got her help from Mr Thomas ..
Sometimes hard work doesn’t pay you have to back it up with smartness🤓, I think your cousin understood that perfectly
@thomas6838
I've never heard or seen any of her clients complain of anything.....i think he's just too lucrative and perfect for this job
I always knew I wanted to become a dentist... And guess what, I got accepted in dental school 😄. You are great at inspiring people Laura!!
That's awesome!!! Thanks so much for your support! :)
Congrats!
That’s not inspiring at all 🤔🤣

I chose dentistry because I like the career and it gives me the opportunity to help the people
I just left hygiene school to pursue dental school because it’s my ultimate dream.
I’m watching videos like this because of that. I feel like I’ll get bored and would want to become a dentist! Still unsure tho
I'm 1 St year dental student and I'm so happy I chosed it 😍

Follow your dreams, it’s never too late. If you wait, it’ll be really too late.
It is never too late to pursue your dreams. If you are passionate, go for it
Hi Laura, I chose dentistry because I would like to help people who haven't seen well with their smile and take away safety or who suffer for pain
Really helpful keep up your amazing working inspiring others using your platform x
Thank you so much!

Going to school to be a RDh! Loved watching this video!:)
I chose dentistry because it's just a wonderful career, i like it a lot and the more i know, the more i like it. I love dentistry ❤

LauraSmiles tysm! 😭
Alyanna Quismundo are you still on track to pursue dentistry?
Dentistry in India is so underrated.
Really inspiring video, I'm on my last semester in high school but I haven't decided yet whether I want to become farmacuet or dentist. I've aimed for farmacuet for the past 4 year but now I kind of like carrier of a dentist. We'll find out where my destiny takes me.
i want to do dentistry but Dental school looks kinda scary and full of smart people and im here like ooof
I chose to study dentistry because I believe it is a career that generates money and helps people feel better about themselves 😊
Still found this inspiring even though I'm a Dental Intern :D
My story is very similar im in the 10th grade right now and my mom is a dental assistant so i have kind of grown up around the dentist office and always wanted to be a dentist so im glad i came across your channel keep up the good work!
Wow, super similar story! Thanks for watching!! :)
Wow this really helped me alot. Thank you so much
Thank you for making me not feel so bad about my mid college crisis 😂
Like this is me to a tea
your videos are so inspirational and i relate to you so much! THANK YOU.. i hope to be working towards becoming a DENTIST one day..
Thank you so much for your kind words!!!
Thank you so much for making this video 😊
Beautiful smile pretty face cheerful attitude What a pleasant YT video And, you are also able to explain yourself well
I choose dentistry because since was a little all about health like me and my father worked in this and will be awesome!!!!!!
Does a career in pediatric dentistry make financial sense? It takes about 3 years to specialize in pediatric dentists yet pediatric dentists compete with general dentists for thos patirnt market.
I literally feel the same way , I am so lost I don’t know what I wanna do after high school🤕🤕🤕🤕
What is the name organization for the Vietnam volunteer? 🧐🧐
I choose Odontology, because Since I was in high school I started to be interested in the career and in the area of Health sciences :))
What should I do if I’m not very artsy and I’m not the best at science but I am interested in dentistry?
I choose dentistry because I like to help people and I worry about the oral health of others, the love of odontology was imposed on me by my cousin
I have a week to decide between med school and dentistry school. I JUST CAN'T CHOOSE 😭
hi what did u end up choosing
Hey.... we talked about dis one day while walking to school! 😃
hi stev
She sold me
Can you talk more about your classmates? Thanks LAURASMILES!! Love your videos 😍
LOL ty ty i'm a big fan of your channel chaeventures
Love your videos, they are very informative, also your mom is so adorable- love to see that shes been a DH for many many years.... many DH I've seen say that career only lasts 10 years if anything because of "burnout". I'd love to know what your opinion is on this.... also do you think the pathway from DH to Dentistry is a good idea? OR just go straight into Dentistry?
Great journey!
Thanks!!!
Sounds weird but I’m currently a high school sophomore student and I am choosing grade 11 courses. I love the idea of being a orthodontist/dentist but I don’t even know if I can do it, science is not my strongest subject and that stresses me out even more...there aren’t a lot of dentistry programs offered around me either :(
Thanks for sharing ! This really helped me in choosing and considering the pros and cons for my future path:) thanks
I had to choose dentistry too🤍🥼✨🦷
Im thinking of Dentistry as a change of career .....I also like Physical Therapy and Chiropractic....
OH! That's Angkor Wat on your shirt? I was there a year ago! Now I'm in dental school :)
Haha yes it is Angkor Wat!!
Wow, now I want to be a dentist Laura
I’m a high school senior and I’m stressing out about my future career choice and I was wondering exactly how difficult dentist school is. Also, what do you recommend taking in undergraduate classes for upcoming dentist students?
What have you decided on? I just graduated high school and I’m not sure if I want to pursue dentistry
@@cerealis_5432 same what did you choose?
@@skyybanni6667 I’m actually not pursuing dentistry anymore 😭, but I got my associate in science in biological sciences. I’m considering transferring to university to major in graphic design and I want to become a ui/ux or product designer.
@@cerealis_5432 that's cool glad you found what you truly wanted to do ^-^
@@skyybanni6667 thank you! I wish the same for you ❤️. If you’re not sure about committing to a 4 year program I’d suggest considering community college if you haven’t already. It’s a more cost effective way to get gen Ed course credit, and to explore a variety of programs.
I loved this video! I related sooooo much our story is so similar, I’m also going into dentistry!! You’re also super pretty!!!
Woohoo!!!!
Hi laura..... I am a 2nd yr dental student from india....... Love your videos😁
Is that medical mission program in Vietnam open to the public? Thank you so much for this video! It was very helpful. My mom is a dental hygienist too!
Keala Verigan yeah i want to know this too
My biggest dream is to be a dentist but some people around me keep saying that it doesn't suit me and I can't do it, i feel so down
Oh no, that's the worst! If being a dentist is your dream then you can do it!!! Just gotta put in the effort because it definitely is not easy!! Hope that you have others in your life that are supportive of your dreams :)
I'm Cambodian too and want to become a Dental Hygienist 😁
Ayy a Khmer sista! :)
They Rejected Me From The Dental School 😔
Ichose odontology career because I have loved this profession since I Was a child
Super helpful. Thanks
Thanks for watching!! :)
Love your smile 😁
Hii! ı've been wanting to be a doctor since my childhood. ı always assume myself both dentist and doctor.
Yes! ❤️
I too wish to become dentist ☺☺..becoz i will love t deal with patients...im in 12th now...
And still can't spell.
What did you decide on?
Plz make a detail video on how Asian students can enter in dental school in uk😥😭😭😔😔
